Aussie Sickos

Rate this book
Caleb Botha has idolized his murderous Uncle Red all his life. Now, in his twenties and with no prospects, he and his idiot brother, Sunny, decide they want to be infamous too. Together, they set off across the outback on a killing spree that Caleb hopes will rival even that of his legendary Uncle. If there is one thing Caleb has learned from the whispered tales of Uncle Red’s legacy, it is that there is more to killing than just the body count. To truly leave your mark and be remembered, each kill must be carried out in a manner more hilarious and sadistic than the last. The boys have their work cut out for them and are determined to make Uncle Red proud by taking up the mantle and becoming the next generation of true Aussie Sickos.

What an awesome nauseating wild ride !!!
I don’t know where to start.
But first of all, I want to say this book needs triggers warning !
Not about all the killing ,in brutal and unimaginable ways . No! Not at all!
It’s about all the 💩💩💩💩 . I can’t spell it. I’m having PTSD , about 💩.
Simon McHardy is too good at describing his scenes . I almost threw up several times ,while I was reading Caleb and Sunny’s adventures , in the first 40% of the story. I had to stop my reading. 😆
But after I read the King’s 👑 few supportive words ( if I can call them that 😂). I conquered my fear of 💩 and dived back in the book , and it was hilarious.
I don’t know where Simon McHardy find his ideas , but in my opinion , he’s the best bizarro extreme horror writer .
Every time I start a book he wrote ,I know I’m going to be very surprised, extremely gross out , and I’m going to laugh like crazy.
I highly recommend this book to all his fan .
If you never read one of his tale , I highly recommend this book to readers who are looking for a gross , gory , bizarro extreme horror story. And I forgot to say hilarious. His books always makes me laugh.
Ps : MOTHER MAGGOT is my favorite Simon McHardy’s book .The uncensored version is the best !!!

Oh boy…this was another high-grade Simon McHardy joint. You know that feeling when you’re not sure if you’re traumatized or just nauseous, or possibly both? Yep, about where I am right now. For some reason, I just had the urge to make my last book of 2021 be something truly debaucherous, and I had to look no further than McHardy. If you’ve read his works, this is exactly what you’d expect, in extreme vulgarity, stomach-churning violence, and utterly hilarious situations. If you haven’t read him prior, please understand that this is a very tasteless, gory, and gross story. But that’s exactly why we read splatterpunk. It’s meant to be just like that, and McHardy is a master of his craft. He pays lots of attention to details that you really didn’t want or need to know, but it’s right in your face like rotten kangaroo meat (Yes, that was a book reference.). If you want to laugh out loud, all while questioning your sanity and ability to hold down whatever food you’ve eaten so far that day, I wholeheartedly endorse Simon McHardy’s Aussie Sickos.

Hell, this was a bloodbath from beginning to end, and totes hilarious! 🤣 I love anything to do with Australia, and this was a fun ride with Caleb and his brother Sunny embarking on a killing frenzy, on the way to see their Uncle Red, who was a notorious serial killer.

This won’t be for everyone as there’s extreme violence, bad language, and some proper sick shit, but it’s hilarious, and fans of McHardy, who is part of the McHardy/Hawker ‘dream team’ will think this a blast!!

5 huge ‘love spud’ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From Gumberoo to Goondawindi, brothers Caleb and Sunny Botha wreak violent and bloody havoc in order to impress their infamous Uncle Red. Many body fluids are spread and splattered indiscriminately. Blink, keep your mouth closed, and try not to catch poomonia. This is not a gentle journey. Keep a barf bag handy, and whatever you do, don't make Sunny angry or hungry, ya drongo.

The last time I bought a book that warned me about extreme content, and suggested I should only proceed if I was a ‘seasoned reader’ of extreme horror, that book was ‘Girl Next Door’ by Jack Ketchum. I didn’t heed the warning then, and I guess I didn’t learn my lesson because here we are, reviewing the latest from gross-out horror maestro, Simon McHardy.

Aussie Sickos follows brothers Caleb and Sunny as they travel across Australia with the hopes of meeting their infamous Uncle Red, a notorious and brutal serial killer. Caleb is a huge fan and decides that he will do his uncle proud on this road trip, by indulging in the most vile and debauched acts imaginable, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

This isn’t an easy review to write without including the caveat that my review contains extreme content and should only be read by seasoned readers of horror reviews (if it should be read by anyone at all). Even passing mention of almost anything that happens throughout the book is more than I can bear to type. I did have a blast reading it though.

There are a lot of memorable moments in Aussie Sickos and there is a fun blackly comedic undercurrent throughout. This is not a remotely serious book and McHardy gets away with much more extreme content by keeping things light and humorous, typically ending each chapter with a killer punchline. He also manages some genuinely uniquely depraved scenarios. The brother’s unplanned visit to a plastic surgery clinic was a personal highlight, although the ‘desert surfing’ scene is nothing if not memorable and the Australian backdrop is put to creative use in the unforgettable dispatching of a particularly ill-fated yoga instructor.

As fun as the book was, it's not without its issues. My experience with extreme horror leans more towards the Wrath James White/Edward Lee/Matt Shaw side of the sub-genre and I’m used to there being some semblance of a story to hang the explosive gore and dripping bodily fluids on. Aussie Sickos is basically a series of eleven extreme horror vignettes loosely tied together by a road trip premise. I didn’t have an issue with this, but when some of the early chapters got a bit repetitive, my interest waned. When the whole book hinges solely on the extreme horror without a solid story to back it up, it doesn’t take much of a dip in quality or variety for it to become glaring.

Aussie Sickos is less a story and more of a test of endurance, with each chapter getting progressively more outrageous and vomit-inducing. The story is non-existent and you’ll see the ending coming a mile away, but you don’t pick up a book like this for the plot. If you come for the body count and carnage, you won’t leave disappointed, assuming you have the stomach to finish. You have been warned!

McHardy is the master of satirical splatter horror, hands down. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll spend days washing the stink of shame from your trembling body as the guilt you feel for how much you enjoyed this book weighs heavy on your soul. All I can tell you is that it's okay. Everything is going to be okay.

This one is a step up in brutality that rivals even that of Mother Maggot. Get your sick on and pick up an eBook at godless.com or a paperback from Amazon.

Wow what a road trip.. Aussie Sickos is non-stop filth, violence and dark humour. Once again this author has bought a huge smile to my face. The imaginative kills are always my favourites and the action doesn't stop. Brilliant book with a cover to match.

How You Like Me Now Uncle Red?

Aussie Sickos by Simon McHardy just went live today 05/06/2021 at noon! This book is amazingly gory, gross, and splendid dark humor infused throughout. The Gore God himself, Simon McHardy, is back to assault your brain with this depraved piece of literature. Never fear there is humor here. A lot of fabulous dark humor. Simon can mesh horror and humor in a masterful fashion that cannot be replicated.

Let the Botha brothers be your guides through the bush in Australia on a mad and macabre journey of mass murder! Caleb is a skinny punk with some compensation issues, and little man syndrome. His brother Sunny is completely opposite. Sunny isn’t so bright, but he is a big boy! In more places than one. After some events cause the boys to head out on an unplanned trip to visit their infamous Uncle Red, Caleb thinks it would be a fantastic idea to go on a rampage along the way to impress Uncle Red even more!

The brothers attack almost anyone they come across, and try to come up with imaginative ways to take their victims lives to impress their idol. Caleb will stoop to any level, and he always convince Sunny to do his bidding. Will the brothers make it through the harsh elements? Will their depraved journey impress Uncle Red? Or will they just keep going?

Simon is in top form with his dark humor with Aussie Sickos. I honestly could not stop laughing! There were so many gross things that occur that are side splitting, and some of the victims reactions are so unreal I literally laughed out loud. So much so I almost woke my wife Brandy up several times! Speaking of Brandy, keep your eyes peeled in Aussie Sickos for her stellar cameo! McHardy executes a perfect sequence with her cameo, and I think you will agree!

All in all, I absolutely have to give Aussie Sickos by Simon McHardy in perfect honesty five severed peters out of five dental filled hoo-has! If you love humor with your horror you will definitely love this book as much as I did. As always Simon is fantastic at painting grotesque pictures with his words, and is very eloquent in his writing. Get your copy today on http://www.godless.com! Until next time, my friends.

Jiminy Crickets, what a gore-tastic romp with Sunny and Caleb!! There is so much poop in this book, I literally had to stop reading at some points and take deeeeeeep deeeeeep breaths of fresh air! I literally could smell it somehow!!! 💩💩 Throughout the story, I was repulsed and laughing at the same time! Over and over, I was surprised and delighted by the dark humor. The deaths are creative and oh-so-gross! I have never been disgusted so many times in such a span. If you love splatterpunk and hilarious hi-jinx, you will NOT be disappointed! I was shocked and awed by the sheer volume of wretch-worthy deaths!!!

The ending was terrific, and could lead to a whole new story… just sayin’!

Also, my cameo was my favorite kill of the book, and so freaking perfect!! I absolutely loved it! Brandy had it coming! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you, Simon, for an epic adventure through the bush! 😉

This was a fucking wild ride😆😆😆😆😆😆. Some of the descriptions of things in this fuckin gross, but at the same time hilarious, and plus brutal violent killers without any conscious and kill in very inventive ways what's not to love. Simon McHardy always delivers and always makes me laugh out loud and wretch at the same time. Simon McHardy rules. Awesome read highly recommend if you think you can handle it.

Glorious vulgarity..

What can I say about this read?.. but "Crikey Mate" Simon once again has delivered me shit (literally) and I will thank him gracefully with 5 stars. I absolutely adored the first few chapters and thought way more than I should about sharks in trees.
If you enjoy lots of dark delicious humor with extreme Spatterpunk.. You need to read it.

Two twin brothers take on Australia in the only way they know how, to impress their serial killer uncle.. who seriously gave me Wolf Creek Mick Taylor vibes.
I'm off now to the shops to buy a Maxibon.

Simon is my guilty pleasure! While most people would read this book and think wtf is wrong with you? I read it cringing and sniggering at the same time. You just know as soon as you pick up a McHardy it’s going to be disgusting but a whole lot of fun! And I just can’t help but love his books 🥰😂

Read this for far too long waiting for it to get good. I guess it's supposed to be parody but it's never really funny so idk why you would read it. I guess if you think any mention of shit or other gross out humor is hilarious it might be worth looking into?

Simon McHardy has rapidly made a name for himself in underground and indie horror for his ultra-violent, hilarious, and utterly depraved stories. Most of his work can only be found at Godless DOT com, a platform for horror writers who refuse to compromise and thus run foul of increasingly stringent rules enforced by certain online content providers (hint: rhymes with "Goddammazon.") So we should consider ourselves lucky that AUSSIE SICKOS is even available to purchase in the wider world as it's a great introduction to Simon's work, and even though the author himself has suggested it's a little "tamer" than his other stuff, that's probably only because its a little more... naturalistic? I mean, characters in his other works have included human-maggot hybrids, sentient sexual organs, and psychotic self-aware pitbulls, so in a sense SICKOS is a little more restrained as far as weirdness goes, but definitely not excess grotesquery and gonzo-gore. I don't know who or what to really compare it to, but if I were to have a go I'd say if you dumped Adult Swim's output like MR PICKLES, the British adult comic VIZ, and the stuff Ed Lee puts out through the small-press (you know, the real crazy stuff) in some sort of metaphorical thought-experiment blender, then you'd be getting close.

I've read most of Simon Mchardy's work. His work is short and brutal. He has such an original style. I've been awaiting this release for a while. I own this in digital and physical copy. The physical is super impressive. Potter's Grove Press did an amazing job. Shout out to River Dixon for his amazing publishing company. This book is insanely disgusting and gory, but so Damn funny throughout. Can't wait until his next book.

Must be read with a bucket nearby.

I think it amazing that I managed to finish this without throwing up. Look, I reckon I'm as open-minded as the next bloke, but after a couple of funny bits in the opening two pages, the rest of the book was, well....not so good...so five stars if you like that kinda thing. Sorry if I sound a bit pious, but that's what I think. Apologies to author but only two stars from me.🤮

Simon McHardy could challenge even the most deranged gorehound's appetite for blood and guts, and that's what makes him the Splatter King! AUSSIE SICKOS has moments that even give MOTHER MAGGOT a run for its money, all with description so cinematic you'll remember it like you saw a movie.

A horrible, horrible snuff movie.

“Warms the blood. Makes me feel twenty-four again.” Uncle Red’s eyes glinted like polished steel. He raised the hammer. It hung in the air. The shiny head dripped with blood. “Shazza says thanks, mate.” He thumped it down.

Super fun read! I was laughing and gagging the whole time i was enjoying this book, Simon really brings the violence in this one. Caleb and Sunny are a couple of degenerates who just out to make their Uncle Red proud. Of course this is bad news for everyone else, including a bunch of tourists. Really enjoyed this one!

Another fine installment of filth, violence and down under hilarity from Simon Mchardy. Caleb and Sunny are two brothers who decide to go on a killing spree in honor of their murderous uncle Red. This book is full of vivid and disgusting scenes, some often times hard to read. Mchardy does a great job blending dark humor into his work and coined my new favorite term, "willy milk". If you've ever read anything by Mchardy you'll know it's not for the sensitive or easily offended. The ending was great and I hope there's a sequel.
