Growing up together made Booker and Imani closer than they could have ever imagined. Best friends who would do anything and go anywhere, as long as they had each other. From middle school to their graduation year, life was good and things were planned out perfectly. But when those plans change, and something takes place between them that neither could have imagined, they are forced to try and make a life on their own...without one another. Booker is given a golden opportunity to reach his full potential in another state, while Imani is forced to choose another fate that pulls her even further away from him. Trying to hold onto a bond that seemed unbreakable is hard, especially when new people start to enter their lives and make themselves comfortable. Emotions run high, jealousy sparks and decisions have to be made. And in the middle of all that, they are still expected to deal with everything life continues to throw at them. In this love story, will they be able to get back to the place they have always known, or are things never going to be the same? Is the love they share strong enough to withstand all the changes or has their time run out?
I’m a huge fan of friend to lovers trope. This book checked all the boxes. I loved the relationship between Booker and Imani. They were meant for each other. Very cute well written story.
Imani and Booker shared so many first it wasn't A surprise that they ended like they did. Imani, Charity and Booker were best friends from childhood on through adulthood. It was those three against the world, Booker was their protector until Tre came along and Charity and Tre realized they were it for each other. College was on the top of each of their minds after graduation although the group would have to leave each other that ended up being the best thing for all of them. They each got to find their place test the waters begin new relationships, learn that it was okay to leave each other because they could come back to each other . Unfortunately, Imani and Booker had to hurt some people before they were able to realize they had more than a friendship love. Charity was able to get her own family with Tre, Tre was able to go to college get a degree and get his chance to play pro. Booker was able to get his degree and hopefully play pro basketball. This friendship between them all was just nice. It was nice to see them realize their worth, stay loyal and true to their hearts. Great read
I first thought this was going be just like the movie, but boy was I wrong! This book is nothing like the movie! However, the two characters Booker and Imani were best friends, the chose not to attend the same college! I think they made the best decision for what they needed and experienced life before living their life with one another. Great book!
The book was slightly boring and I was really annoyed it took so long to get good, literally 70% the book was unnecessary talking and people, nothing really about basketball and less of Booker & Imani as a couple.
I really enjoyed this book. Booker and Imani was good together and I’m happy that they made things officially though. They knew that they wanted to be together but decided to mess around with other people and knew that it wasn’t going to work out. Tre and Charity assuage good couple as well I’m glad that Tre stepped and took care of his responsibilities with being a father and things like that. I hope that we can get another stand-alone about them after college though. Job well done and I can’t wait to see what you have coming next.
Apparently you can fall in love with your Best Friend. True love does exist after all. Imanis relationship with Booker is one to look up to and gives the reader hope. Their love was unique and may have taken time to develop but in the end it seems they got it right. I am looking forward to guest appearances to see how this couple is doing when it’s time to read Charity’s story. Author Shanel always delivers and never disappoints.
I love the way that Booker and Imani loved each other. Their friendship is everything. The way they looked out for each other and encouraged each other to be better and pursue their dreams even if they had to be separated to get it. Tre and Charity relationship was sweet too. Although new Tre stood by her and they did what they had to do. Loved this book all around.
I loved the way Booker was protective over Imani and Charity. Tre became a part of the click when he started dating charity but the bonds were solid. Booker went off to Grambling University and Imani went to Tuskegee University the two tried moving on but the love was real definitely worth the read.💛💝💓💕💕💗💖💚💜
When I started reading, I kept praying that this was a standalone and not a series. Then as the story progressed, I couldnt get enough of the characters. I loved how protective Booker was. And I hated how catty Greazy turned out to be, but hey..men can be butt hurt too. I lefit cried and laughed throughout this book. Well written.
SWEET READ!!! This was a sweet story, best friends that became lovers. Book and Mani were so sweet together, although they tried to give someone else a try, their hearts always belonged to each other. Trey and Charity were also a cute couple. I hope we can get an update about them, even if it's in a book about Trey and Charity.
This was so cute. I'm so happy that Booker and Imani told each other how they felt. Greezy was mad. But at least she was honest. Maybe we can get a follow up after they finish college.
Enjoyed reading about this couple. Best friends eventually turned to lovers. They each had to realize that they should be together but was afraid to lose their friendship. Great story
I loved these two together. Booker really loves Imani and showed her that he would do anything for her. Even though they’re young, you can tell they have genuine love for one another.
Brokerwas no joke he went got his woman I hate Natasha and Grezzy got could in the mix but that had to happen fir Booker and Imani to open their eyes great standalone 🤙🏾🤙🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Now this was a good book. This was my very first time reading this authors work, but I am glad I gave her a chance. This book was captivating from start to finish and I love a good friend to lovers book. I would definitely recommend this book.
I enjoyed it to an extent a solid 3.5. Characters were extremely frustrating yet chop it up to age. I prefer More developed of characters for future releases but author made a cute fairytale.
I LOOOOOVED IT…. This book was so good I loved that it kept me entertained and laughing especially on that Otis part I was cracking up keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see what’s next from you.
Booker and Imani were so clueless to how they felt about each other, but everybody else could see it clear as day. Tre and Charity are so mature to be 18/19 years old. Tre accepted his responsibility like a man and handled his business😍
I like this book, all the way through, it was romantic, like of action, very well written, very well thought out, very good book all the way through thank you for your writing
I truly enjoyed the story of Imani and Booker!!! I love how they got their crap together and really figured out what they ultimately wanted from each other without hurting too many people along the way!
I really enjoyed Imani and Booker and I wish there was more. I really hated to see this couple’s story end and hope there is more to come or at least an update on them
I loved this! Really good story. I love college themed books and I really enjoyed the fact that things weren’t easy for them. They got a chance to experience college life and some of its obstacles which made it more authentic. Really Dope
This was an awesome read. Dam Booker was straight alpha. They could’ve handled their exes better by being straight up about the best friends situation. All in all I loved it.
Really enjoyed the evolution of Booker and Imani’s friendship into romance and the twists and turns that came along with it (including the collateral damage). Also liked how Charity and Tre’s story played out. Good story!
This gave all the feels of a beautiful love story. It made you want to fall in love or go back to high school to unkiss the toads and already have your prince. 🥰
