I've read a number of Microsoft press books, and it seems that (at least for their Windows Server/Exchange books) that they lack technical detail. Depending on what you're looking for, that may be fine. It will show you screen shots of the various interfaces, and explain a lot of the features. If you want detail on how something works, you have to go somewhere else to find out.
