I was born in Singapore to a Danish mother, and English father. I spent my first 2 years in Singapore and then moved to Hong Kong for the next 7 years. We then moved back to Singapore where I attended Tanglin Trust School for 4 years. And then we moved back to Denmark when I was 13 years old. Here I went to another International School, Rygaards .I then went on to finish my schooling in Denmark, to then go to a Creative Writing course at Uni in Winchester, England.
I have always felt different, and when I was about 15 years old, I realised I was suffering from depression, and diagnosed with Asbergers and possible ADHD. I battled this for many years, whilst trying to find my way. Whilst doing this, I obtained pleasure from writing- and wrote this children's book- Aboard the Timeline. I have also written a number of poems- some of which have been published.

The writing was light with different levels of word difficulty, meaning that a wide range of ages could read and enjoy the story. There was always something going on, yet it was well balanced for the length of the book.

The chapters were a mix of different lengths so you got a good chunk of each mini adventure before moving on, yet at the same time you didn't linger on anything for too long. It was this that gave the story a good pace and balance.

I really loved the illustrations throughout the book. They were fun and matched what was going on in the story well.

The characters were great. I loved the friendships that blossomed and how everyone worked together to help each other out. What I particularly liked was the relatability of the main character. I think that we can all relate to him at some point in our lives.

Lastly the settings. I loved the world that we were taken to and enjoyed following the main character round through the different times and places.

Overall an entertaining book that I enjoyed reading.

Aboard the Timeline

About the Author
Bastian Gregory was born in 1997 and spent a happy childhood in Singapore, Hong Kong and Denmark. He went on to study creative writing in the UK. He was a wild and free thinker, a kind, gentle son and brother and a good friend to many. Bastian had Aspergers Syndrome and suffered from depression. Bastian left us just after his twenty-third birthday to be, in his own words, reincarnated ‘as a cosmic tree with solar winds and alien doves rushing through my branches’. He leaves behind this book and a collection of poems.

We’ve all been there. Bored out of our minds. But Pete was bored into Outermind.
‘Aboard the Timeline’ follows the journey of Pete, an ordinary schoolboy, who is extraordinarily bored out of his mind. Pete’s adventure begins in an especially dull maths class. Pete’s mind begins to play tricks on him - did the clock say ‘tickety tock’ rather than ‘tick tock’? Whilst eyeing the clock menacingly, making sure it wouldn’t play any tricks on his senses, Pete started to feel his eyes getting heavier and heavier. Tick. Tock. Stop. Time suddenly stopped around him and he is inexplicably greeted by a talking dinosaur called Reginald at the classroom door. As an attempt to explain what had happened, Reginald and Pete embark on a quest for answers. Along the way, they meet Philosophocles, an ancient Greek thinker and the trio travel along the Time Line. They explore different parts of history including the Cretaceuous period, ancient Greece, the Viking North Sea, Medieval Istanbul and Victorian London. Bombarded with new, exciting experiences, they meet evil, tricky demons that have been troubling the inhabitants of history. Can Pete become the hero that some need him to be? And will he ever find a way back to his especially dull maths class?

When I read ‘Aboard the Timeline’ I was completely engrossed in the concept of ‘being bored out of your mind’ which brought Pete to an adventurous new world. ‘Aboard the Timeline’ seamlessly blends different historical eras into one fearless adventure. It was inspiring to follow Pete’s evolution. He rises to the occasion and helps the inhabitants of Outermind to be saved by the tricky demons.

I highly recommend ‘Aboard the Timeline’ to children and adults alike. A child will get lost in the daring new explorations of Pete and the history element is likely to intrigue adults.

Overall, ‘Aboard the Timeline’ is a historical adventure, where we follow Pete on his journey to resolve the problems of a world in which he landed, when he was bored out of his mind.

“Aboard the Time Line” is a really good book. We all know the feeling, when waiting in class for that bell to ring, so we can go out to recess! Well thats what this book starts off with, Pete is in maths class, waiting to go out, suddenly everything stops, the time freezes. There’s a knock at the door, so Pete goes to answer. Pete opens the door to a whole new world! He meets a dinosaur, Reggie, that shows him around. Reggie and Pete take a train, the time line, to travel to different places, such as “not so Ancient Greece” and under the water!

“Aboard the Time Line” is a different book, than others. It is based on Petes “imagination” and how he visits different places/creatures, makes new friends and learns new things. I like the fact that all the “people” in this world are creatures of different sorts, some evil and some not.

I would recommend this book to ages from 3 - 13. It’s a great book for parents, to read to toddlers, as a bedtime story. But its also a good book for teens and kids to read themselves. I give this book a 4/5.

I read Aboard the Timeline a couple of weeks ago and I really liked it.
The story starts off with Pete. A typical boy who is particularly bored one day in maths class. He gets so bored that he actually bores himself out of his mind. Time stops and everyone in the classroom is frozen except Pete. Then a dinosaur named Reginald knocks on the door and offers to help Pete get home again. The two of them time travel to ancient Greece to meet Reginald’s friend Philisophicles and the three of them go on an adventure to figure out how to get Pete home.

I found this book super exciting and page-turning. I especially liked the character of Pete because he seemed like a real person and was very relatable. All the characters were very well written and I found them all quite interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to children who enjoy reading about time travel or children who enjoyed Around the World in 80 Days since it has quite similar themes to Aboard the Timeline. 🦕💖

Great young children/young teen book. Written as a type of auto-biography by my son. A book of hope. A book which is both funny/clever/historic- interesting on many levels. Can be read by both children and adults.

A book which can be used to illustrate a number of issues that children/young adults face in their everyday lives.

Aboard the time line: never a bored moment.
I had the pleasure of reading the children’s book Aboard the Timeline by Bastian Gregory. Set in the fantasy land of Outermind the main character Pete travels through different time periods accompanied by a dinosaur named Reginald and a Greek philosopher named Philosophocles- who is the master of asking unanswerable questions. The concept is simple and brilliant: Pete is bored out of his mind at school which leads to him coming to the world of Outermind. The language is quirky and balances historically periods with charismatic and out-of-this-world characters very well which makes it an interesting read for people of all ages. The book is a page-turner with unique historical wordplays and adventours plot twists. It has a sort of The little prince sense to it and your are sure never to be bored whilst reading the book.
Would definitely recommend!

This was a fun and original story about a boy bored out of his mind in math. Very relatable to many students, sadly. 😉 Time seems to freeze for his classmates and teacher while he is transported to a new place, Outermind. He meets some very interesting characters and grand adventures ensue as they travel through time and history searching for a way to get him home. From Greece to a Viking ship, to old London and more, Pete is on the journey of a lifetime. A lifetime that will never again seem boring.

Aboard the timeline

A fantastic book written by Bastian Gregory addressing the whimsical adventures of Pete, a normal school boy, who’s boredom takes control of his mind, leading him into his next adventures with the tall and charming raptor, Reggie. The timeline train is responsible for the tricky and fun situations Pete experiences during the book, whilst its clumsy rides drive Reggie and Pete to their final destinations. In this book they visit history, fantastical events and mythical creatures, so hop on the Timeline and join us for the ride.

“Aboard the Timeline has got me hooked, as I flip the pages continually with a smile”
Every page will leave you, willing to know more, as the characters of the book guide you with a comforting sense. As you move your vision through the thrilling pages of the story, you will come across different ways to look at different lifestyles and people. “It is a fantastic book including dragons and vikings, but also educational.” Not only will you be able to explore a fantastic world whilst meeting fictional characters, but at the same time your knowledge will expand as you feed on the interesting resources the author has left for us to investigate.

I recommend this book for ages 5-10 as it can be a little light hearted to read as a 12+ year old. Dinosaurs and vikings aren’t exactly the ideal theme to be reading about as you get older, but if you are looking for an easy, silly and fun book to read, this book is for you.

Aboard the Timeline is a humorous and chucklesome book, it will not let you down. I would recommend this book with an eager demand for you to read it.

Thank you Bastian Gregory for creating and providing us with your immaculate thoughts and sentences, and for letting your fantasies drift away in our minds just as well as yours, may you rest in peace.

This book is very recommendable and easy to cooperate with so therefore I will give it 4,5/5 stars. I have rated it this number because I strongly believe that it may not be the right fit for every age group, but other than that it is a quirky and humble book, which will leave you giggling.

Aboard the Timeline

Aboard the Timeline is a fantasy book about a boy named Pete. Pete is a regular boy struggling with boredom in his school. Pete finds nothing interesting that the teachers are teaching him, so he’s always bored. One day as he was listening to the clock ticking and tocking, it suddenly stopped. The pen clicking behind him stopped as well. He looked around and everything else was stopped. As well. Pete took off his seat when hearing a knock on the classroom door. Pete was greeted by a dinosaur calling itself Reggie. Reggie explained that Pete was in a place called Outermind after Pete exclaimed that he was bored out of his mind and the time shockingly stopped out of nowhere before meeting you. Pete and Reggie go on an adventure to figure out what happened and if Pete ever can return to the normal world.

Aboard the Timeline is an interesting piece of writing in my opinion. The book and characters are very relatable, mostly Pete but also the other characters that Pete will be meeting on his
adventures, which made the book feel more interesting and real.

My favourite part of the book is the very beginning. This is the most relatable and tense part in the book in my opinion. When I first met Pete in the book he was bored and didn't have much of an imagination, when later on in the book he becomes more open to his thoughts. This shows a great evolution, making pete my favourite character in the book.

Aboard the Timeline made me keep flipping the pages and wanting to read more. This is because you can't really predict what’s going to happen later in the book, so you just want to keep going until you find out.

This book is an amazing book, and there is nothing really bad about it. I would wish for more illustrations because they helped me keep a good understanding of the book. But other than that it is a fantastic book.

At the end of the day, the book is an amazing fantasy book with a very interesting and good plot. The book is written by Bastian Gregory and illustrated by May Gregory.
Extraordinary book!

Aboard The Timeline is an extremely well written chapter book aimed at 7-12 year olds which captured our attention from the very first page right until the last sentence! Young children will absolutely love the story but I recommend that once they are finished with it, their parents give it a read too! It’s wonderful!

The story is inventive and unique, full of plot twists, and the imagination and creativity of the author is astounding. The imagery is so vivid and you really feel as if you were a character alongside Pete, the ordinary school boy turned adventurer as he journeys through Outermind; a strange and intriguing place.

Pete, a bored schoolboy in his classroom, finds himself suddenly thrown into a place where a less than ordinary train transports the inhabitants to various locations and times in history. But all is not as it seems, and Pete is soon tasked with defeating an unwelcome and ill-intentioned group of demons. Along his way Pete makes some good friends and the group encounter a series of challenges and adventures, which definitely provides a cure to his boredom!

Pete and friends find themselves in Ancient Greece, the middle of the Viking
North sea, Victorian London and more. On one very peculiar train stop, they find nothing makes sense, lettering on signs is jumbled, “roads curve and meander” and it’s impossible to make sense of the place. The troop get to work to fix the mayhem that the demons are causing! And poor Pete wonders if he will ever get home!

We don’t want to give the ending away, but we highly recommend Aboard The Timeline to all little adventurers out there! The story is a definite antidote for anyone feeling bored! Read it and take your mind on an exciting voyage through time and the possibilities of the imagination!

One boy's boredom leads to adventure.

One minute, Pete was sitting there listening to the teacher drawl on about math, and the next time seemed to be frozen.
During this strange moment, he meets a friendly dinosaur named Reginald, also known as Reggie, who offers to help him return to reality. Reggie suggests they visit a friend who might know how to bring Pete back. Will Pete be able to find a way back to his world?

This book was a captivating and unusual story. The concept of the outer mind, a realm where imagination and time intersect, was intriguing and enthralling. The train rides throughout the story provided a much-needed respite from the action and added a sense of calm to the narrative.

The protagonist, Pete, was a curious and selfless character whose keen perception made him all the more relatable. His companion, Reggie, was a charming dinosaur with a gentlemanly demeanor who always knew when Pete needed comfort.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thrilling adventure with plenty of twists and turns. It is a shame that the young author, Bastian Gregory, could not see his work published entirely due to his untimely passing. However, his family can take pride knowing he has left an incredible legacy through his writing.

Happy Reading, Paige ❤️ 📚

Thank you to the mom's author for sharing this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Aboard The Timeline is a book written by Bastian Gregory and illustrated by May Gregory. The story is about a boy by the name of Pete. Pete gets bored out of his mind transporting him to a different world where he stumbles upon a dinosaur called Reggie who welcomes him to the Outermind. Pete explains how time froze and how he was bored out of his mind. Reggie and Pete embark on a venture out in the outermind trying to find a solution and a way for Pete to get back home travelling through various different timelines such as Ancient Greece and the Vikings.

Something I enjoyed about this book was the humour. It really sets itself aside from other books through laughter which really made the book quite more enjoyable and enticing. My favourite character is Reggie because he has a different, less reserved personality than the rest of the characters. But despite this I thought it was difficult to care about Pete because of Reggie's incredibly funny personality. I’d recommend this book for someone who has a particular joy for reading adventure and time travel. This book is mainly for kids. This book is associated with adventure, reminding me of a book like Around the world in 80 days. I’d give this overall a rating of 4,5/5

Aboard The Time Line
Aboard the Timeline is an amazing book written by Bastian Gregory about a boy called Pete. For Pete it was just another boring maths class until time froze along with his classmates and teacher. A moment later Pete heard a knock. As confused as he was he got up and opened the door, but to his surprise there was a dinosaur, right there in front of him. But was Pete going mad? The school hallway was suddenly a jungle but what happens next is crazy so find out for yourself.

I love Aboard the Timeline because I relate to Pete, try to remember the last time you had fun in maths class. I especially like that this books genre is fantasy, it's been forever since I've read fantasy and this book was perfect. But I would say it's for younger kids with a higher reading level.

With that said I strongly believe that you should put this book on your wishlist if you're into fantasy books. I would give this book a four out of five because the book has a great plot but is for 10-12 years olds.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this wonderful children’s book by Bastian Gregory. I am a complete sucker for any kind of fantasy story and would not only recommend this book for children, of which it was intended for, but for any adult who would like to momentarily check out of the sometimes-dull monotony of life and go on a wee magical adventure.
I completely identified with Pete, the main character and his boredom of class life. I only wish a magical door would have appeared at my school. The story is filled with many wonderful and interesting characters like the wonderful Reggie the dinosaur and the time line is not only fun and adventures but educational too. Introducing children to many different historical people, times and places like Vikings, Victorian London, Constantinople and Ancient Greece.
A wonderful book to encourage children’s curiosity about world history. It also offers educators the opportunity to open discussions with children on various historic topics and philosophical thinking.

For lovers, young and old, of adventure, escape, imagination and wonder

There is an old adage that a picture paints a thousand words. Well, this is a book that paints a thousand pictures (maybe more), through narrative that is so vivid, imaginative and yet accessible that it feels like you are on the same journey the author and his characters take along the Time Line, in all its remarkable, fantastic, funny, ingenious detail.

Designed for kids, this is actually a book that would appeal to adults too ... count me among those adults, and to reference other books in the same vein that I enjoyed reading as a kid, and then reading to my kids, I would thoroughly recommend this to any fans of Roald Dahl, David Walliams or René Goscinny. Of particular note is the liberal and brilliant use of wordplay that will capture the imagination of young readers and put a grin on the faces of older readers as they unwrap the layers that have been so delicately woven into the story.

So, so glad I read this.

Aboard the Timeline

Aboard the Timeline is about a boy named Pete that is bored out of his mind. So he gets teleported to a place that is called the Outer Mind. Which is a place people go to when they are bored out of their minds.

I really like the story because I feel like it's just a really good plot, which just makes the whole story good. I also like that story gripped me and just kept me turning pages. I haven't tried that for a long time, so that really does tell you something about the story. There were also times where the suspense really overwhelmed me, I could nearly not hold the excitement in. Sometimes I feel like reading books are like chores, whereas this book felt like a hobby reading it.

Overall I feel like this book is good for any age group over 8, because I think that some people can relate very well to how Pete feels.

An honest rating would definitely be a solid 9.5/10.

Aboard The Timeline is about a boy named Pete who gets bored into a special and far away place called “Outermind”. Here he must go on a special and epic quest to get back to his own world. He has to battle ominous demons and travel into weird and wacky places.
Will he be able to get back to his normal world?

I really like this book because the story never stops. It just flows into another part and I think that makes this book so much easier to read. The story is very well described and that makes you able to see the story in front of you. The story is very gripping and a real page-turner. I felt that the characters were very relatable and felt very real, especially Pete as I could relate to him in numerous ways, for example, him being bored in maths class.

I would recommend the book to people ages 9- 13 and people who are fantasy lovers. I would compare this book to Harry Potter because it has very similar weird and fantastic places and things.

This story is unequivocally well-written, using a wide range of word choices. The language is advanced, and the flow of the sentences is impeccable.

Pete is quite a likable character, and the variety of others he interacts with keeps the reader entertained.
Pete’s journey is imaginative and fun to read. The thought of time stopping while you continue jumping through past times is enticing.

This story is for many age levels, though the higher vocabulary may need some explaining for younger ages.

Aboard the Timeline is a children's book written by Bastian Gregory and illustrations by his sister May Gregory. Aboard the Timeline is a fun book about a boy called Pete who gets tired in class and his bordam suddenly brings him to the time travelling Outermind. In the Outermind Pete meets the talking dinosaur Reginald. Reginald shows Pete around and explains to him what the outermind is and what you can do there. The two of them end up going on an exciting adventure on the timeline.

My favourite character in the book is Reginald and his personality is energetic and fun to follow throughout the book. To me the story is different and i like how it isn't just like every other book it is descriptive and you follow the characters and what they do and see in this imaginary world.

I would recommend this book for 9-12 year olds if they like fantasy historical books.

Aboard The Timeline is about a boy called Peter. Peter is a normal boy, but one day in maths class when he is bored out of his mind something very unusual happens. He embarks on a magical journey where he meets lots of cool, nice and interesting characters.

Something I really like about this book is that it has a lot of unusual words which add a lot of depth to the story. There are also characters which you get attached to and it is generally quite different from anything else I've read before. It is quite historical but it is also quite fantasy based and would be a great bedtime story for kids who love history and fantasy.

Overall I enjoyed reading it and would definitely recommend it to someone who loves history and loves fantasy stories. I wouldn’t give it to anyone older than 12 but also no younger than 7. I would rate it a 8/10 rating or 4 stars.

Aboard The Timeline is a book about a boy called Pete who finds himself to be bored in class. He suddenly travels back in time to different time periods. He meets this dinosaur; the dinosaur is wise and accompanies Pete. The dinosaur called Reggie was probably my favourite character throughout the book, he gave me a comforting feeling while I was reading Aboard The Timeline. My favourite part of the book was the start when he meets Reggie.

I enjoyed reading this book because it is a cute book and not too long, but I believe this book is more suitable for kids around the age of nine to ten. I think it's a fantastic, relaxing book you can read in your free time.
I would recommend this book to younger readers who are looking to read a short and cute story.

How much fun was this book? I can highly recommend this children’s book if you believe your children like fun; like adventure; like to expand their vocabulary; like history and like nice characters. There is some excitement in the book, but at no point does it appear too scary, and as a result it is a lovely book to also read to younger children, even if the language might be a bit challenging. At the same time, it is exactly that challenging language, which for me makes it a worth while book to read with children, as I often find children rise to the challenge of using more advanced vocabulary! The historic periods are also interesting and gives the reader a little touchpoint in the period to go off and read more about if they want to. As for the morals in the story, they totally lend themselves to the age group of 8- 12 year olds understanding them, without the moral being too evident. A fun, easy, lovely book for children.

I have now read this book several times with my grandchildren and found it to be truly delightful. It provides both me and the children with giggles and fun discussions after we have read each chapter. The book follows the journey of Pete and some unlikely friends on a quest that he is not aware of at the outset. He gets more than he bargained for. The truly lovely thing is that one can discuss the concept of not giving up and of believing in oneself. Very useful discussion to have with young people on their own journey and quest in life. In addition the illustrations add just the right level of levity to the book, and conjures up the characters even better. Highly recommendable

Pete was bored. Reeeeally bored. So bored that time was not working like time usually did. So bored that a dinosaur (Reginald) appeared out of nowhere by his classroom door. Join Pete, Reginald, old friends and new acquaintances in this adventure as they sail the high seas, walk through winding streets, and time travel!

This book was really great! I enjoyed it a lot! It somehow gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes which I loved! This is a wonderful book if you're looking for an adventure, or just a tale to snuggle up with. I promise you won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed the book, even though I think the book is more suitable for 8-12 year olds. I loved hearing all the details about the outer mind and hearing about the adventures Pete had.

This book is quite uniquely written as it intertwines history, fiction, action and humour. It manages to delight both children and adults and I have found it to be a fun, lighthearted read. I would highly recommend this book to children - especially in the agegroup 8- 12 year olds. Especially fun is the use of language and the play on words that is used with regards to historical characters. This also gives good reason to discuss afterwards. Gets my 5 stars!!
