Year 3: Rebellion is the third part in Tamara Hart Heiner's Guardian Angel Academy series. After the many adventures in the first two parts, I was very curious about this book, but was it able to meet my expectations?
After two intense years at the academy, Jez is now finally a guardian-in-training and ready for her first real mission. And although Jez is no longer a stranger with missions, after helping Maalik it is still making her nervous. During her prepairing classes, they find out that something weird is going on on Earth. A virus threatens to get out of hand, and it is during prophecy class that Jez learns that this could be the start of something much bigger. What is the matter on Earth? Will Jez be able to successfully complete her mission?
After the exciting second part in this series, my expectations were very high. Because of this I found this part a bit disappointing in the beginning. The story builds up slowly and as a reader you are slowly informed about the events on earth.
In this story, Maalik has disappeared into the background and Jez really comes into the spotlight. However, it is not further elaborated in this story. This certainly does not make the story superficial, because the story has enough mystery and tension.
This is the first book I read that reminded me of the current COVID crisis, and it took some getting used to. The reference was not a disturbance factor for me and I really enjoyed the story.
The story ends in a big cliffhanger and I am very curious about the last part in this series called Year 4: Revolution.

Ahhhh! That ending!!! 😱😬 But first, lets go back to the beginning....
This book basically begins where the previous book left off, with Jez entering into her third year at the academy. This is an especially hard year for Jez, because of how her relationship with Maalik ended in second year.
When I first began reading this book, I was kind of hoping to find out a bit more about what happened with Logan and Christine and everyone else in New Orleans. But as the story progressed I realized that story was over and it was time to move on.
I really enjoyed reading about her newest assignment as a GIT and was soon just as invested in them as I was with her previous one.
This book left me with so many questions I’m just dying to get answers for! I absolutely have to find out more about Kerubiel and Jerahmeel. I need to know their stories! We’re also discovering more and more about Jez throughout the series, and at the end of this book it’s clear that there is still so much more to learn about her!
And that cliffhanger ending almost destroyed me. I need more! I’m beyond excited to read Year 4 so I can find out all the answers!!

I was so happy when I received an arc for the third book of this series. First off, I really liked how smooth and easy the transitions have been between the books. This one starts off right from Jez entering her third year at the academy. We already get to witness her struggles right from the beginning and I feel for her after what happened with Maalik (in the last book). Also, there's a killer cliffhanger at the end of this book so BEWARE! :D It's honestly a really great series and I recommend this for anyone that likes young adult fiction, hints of romance, missions/adventures and of course, angels and demons.

A great story. The aftermath of the previous book carries over much of this story; however, it does not significantly hinder anything. Jez becomes more. More human. More angelic. More endearing. All the while regretting her actions against Maalik's family and grieving the loss of his affection. While there is still much to be resolved, the ending feels full of hope.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Inspirational. Page-turner. Romantic. Scary. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. There is so much that takes place in this one that carries over from the book before it. It is a bit heavier for what Jez has done. She has gotten her white wings and she is regretting some of her choices. She does not have Maalik nor his affection anymore. It makes me feel for her and what she has to do in her training and the decisions she has to make along the way with the plagues and such going on in the world. I am ready for the next book in the series.

Its Year 3 and Jez got her white wings she doesn’t believe she deserves, she and Maalik are over, and the plagues are ravaging earth. As a new GIT she will do whatever it takes to help her assignment and hopefully prove her worth, but to protect those she care for she keeps breaking the rules and now things have gotten much worst for there is a traitor in their midst. This is an awesome series you do not want to miss. Get this book you won’t regret it.

I love this series. The biblical story is fascinating and so much of it is so close to the stories I was raised on. This story, though a work of fiction, gives me pause on what’s happened by today but also gives me hope.

Too much mud between Maalik and Jez for too much of the story. The conflict dampened how much I liked the series.
