The five of us—my mates and protectors, beat the enemy mermen in the Boston battle. But we’ve yet to win the war.
A haven turns into a New Year’s hell. Kidnapped, separated, with a life in jeopardy, we have to combat a mystical kind of greed.
If that weren’t enough, I’ve discovered I’m far more than a mermaid or even a princess, and my long-lost family brings its own set of dangers to our already perilous situation.
I must protect my mates from the vampires who seek to enslave them, vengeful fae, and perhaps most dangerous of all to my pod, is my own flesh and blood.
Rugged Rock is a ‘why choose’ book in which the heroine gets all of her guys. It has mature content, and no cheating. This four-book series takes place in the Dark Wing world with a HEA.
Ellie Pond is an author of Paranormal Romance. Ellie’s had many professions, including costume designer, contract archeologist, organic farmer, fabric store owner, and airline gate agent. She’s happy to be a full-time writer now. She lives in New England with her three teenage sons, husband, and father. It’s a lot of testosterone. To combat all the Axe body spray in the house, Ellie likes to travel. You can follow her on social media for her travel adventures, when we can do that kind of thing again.
So tense, the cross over with Dark Commander for the first book was amazing, and it then goes on to be a different tense scenario that the characters need to navigate in order to achieve a HEA.
I quite enjoyed book 1 - Wicked Water, but found this book a bit confusing at times and had to re-read sections with so much happening to so many main characters. This story introduced a completely new set of friends and enemies and lots of plot twists that I did not see coming. Overall, the worldbuilding is quite fascinating and the characters are wide-ranging in personality, magical ability, and type of being. The fae, giants, vampires, and others were introduced in this story along with more information about the families of the main characters. A good read with mysteries and romance.

This story is book two in the series. Book 1 should be read first in order to understand what's going on in this one. Ellie Pond has created a very interesting world where mermaids have some interesting rules. For the sake of survival and self-preservation, mer-people are very secretive. Not many people know they exist. Mermaids are rare but mermen are a dime a dozen. So, long ago, the mer-people came up with the idea of pods. Each mermaid can have four or more mates in her pod. In a pod, big decisions have to be agreed to by all members, like one big happy committee.
Melody is a mermaid princess and heir to her mother's throne. In the first book Melody goes on the run (swim?) with her friend, Harrison, because someone is trying to kidnap her. In that book she is caught up in an adventure where she finds her first two mates.
Melody is 25 but very naive about the world above the water. In the first book, she came across as narcissistic and spoiled. In this story she is more centered and likable as her pod continues to grow and her pod-mates help her understand the world around her better. I really enjoyed her character much more this time around.
Ryker, the dragon shifter, is my favorite character in the series. He is beautiful and growly; set in his ways, and totally smitten with Melody even though he doesn't want to be. The adventure Melody and her pod-mates go on in this story was interesting, fantastical, and vividly described. Melody lands herself another pod-mate but the story is far from over.
This series has a lot going on. Book 2 put out many tendrils that hint at future story lines. Looking forward to reading those. I am really enjoying the world Ellie Pond has created for this series. It is original and very entertaining. Very much worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book. It seems that Melody has grown somewhat of a backbone or maybe the guys are just trying to get along with her now that she’s mated most of them. We got to read each of the main characters point of views, sometimes we got to re read the same scene in multiple view points, which got a little old. The reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is because I felt like we were missing certain things. Like her grandmother screwing a giant, but there were no words describing what they saw, just after they left the room, they described how horrifying it was to see her blood grandmother in that position. That was one part that I had to re read and see if I missed anything. Additionally, I felt like there was a few grammatical errors. “He removed his penis and used his fingers”, when it should have been “he removed his fingers and used his penis.” Otherwise I would have easily rated it 5 stars. There is a lot going on in this book. Miscommunication, self sacrifice, multiple reasons that could push the story in different directions, saving Annabelle, bringing back Ryker’s missing dragon, Paola being the one to open up the shields to allow someone to kidnap Melody. So many ways this story could have turned. I’m worried for Ryker in a way that he agreed to a blank cheq Boone to get Taylor back. I didn’t want to put the book down, even if it was confusing in some spots. I’m off to read the next one!!
This was the second book that I have read from Ellie Pond and it honestly had more drama than a daytime television show. I was astounded by how much thinking the guys do when they're not talking to Melody and just how stressful some of the situations must be that sometimes the characters do more thinking than talking. There were times though that I felt the story was moving a lot faster or slower than it should have in some points but the overall story is really good. Just like Melody, we're learning about the world and just what type of creatures live in it. Melody's people weren't the only ones in hiding; I wonder just how many other liked to keep to themselves. I have to keep reading more to find out. I even did a whole blog post about the book if you want to read my full thoughts.

The story continues and picks up exactly where it left off in Wicked Water.
This book centers on the formation of Melody's pod and strengthening their bond. Of course, there's some tension between her and Ryker and his reluctance to admit feelings.
I cant even pick which one of these alphas I love most because they all bring something special to the pod!
Melody finds out some personal history and meets a family member who isn't who she thought she was. Interestingly there's a connection through Ryker.
I really don't love cliffhangers so you know I enjoy this series if I'm willing to wait months for the next book. Bring on book 3, Western Winds!!!

There is a lot happening in this book with curses that were cast in anger and then lifted once Ryker convinces his brother to return the jolan. With the jolan returned, Melody's grandmother regains her sanity and powers as the fae queen. The problems that sent Melody from her home were in the process of being solved and she now has three of her mates. I'm very curious on who will be the fourth and what will happen next in this series. I hope Ryker will be okay.
Ellie Pond’s second book in her ‘Enchanted Elements’ series is ruggedly rocking the charts. In her previous book, the main character, Melody, has two pod mates, Axel and Harrison. In her latest book she has added a third, Ryker. The adventures and the predicaments they get into keep you wanting more. So riveting you can’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
Ellie Pond creates a world of wonder and warring paranormals. We again meet Princess Melody, heir to her mother’s mermaid throne, in Rugged Rock, book 2 in the Enchanted Elements series.
There is so much fun, as the mates of the Princess continue to attempt to protect her. There are also serious systems of secrets, and underlying drama from unexpected places.
I very much enjoyed traveling the seas with this unexpected cast of characters. It truly was hard to choose a favorite.
Ugh I hate having to wait but I love this story! The quick pace, all the moving parts, I'm always wanting to know whats going to happen next. The secrets, the curses and even now the history and connections. But things are far from over and Melody's pod is yet to be complete! I can't wait to see where this journey is leading them. This is definitely a series your going to want to dive into.
This is a fantastic continuation of the Enchanted Elements series. This picks up right where Wicked Water, book 1, left off. This has amazing tension and chemistry between Melody and her men. I enjoyed the action, adventure, magic, mystery, and romance in this story. I am very excited to read the next book in this series.
Rugged Rock by Ellie pond is an awesome story that I have loved reading. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have been so hooked on from the beginning and I can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about paranormal romance.

I struggled with this one. There was simultaneously too much and nothing happened for the majority of this book. I wasn’t a fan of them being on the rock for so long — that could have been majorly condensed and I’d be happy. The drama between the pod also felt forced. This one didn’t quite do it for me.
This book picks up where Dark Water ended with Melody being mated to Axel and Harrison and adding Ryker as her newest pod mate. There is still danger around every corner. The story is gripping and suspenseful and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Ryker is a reluctant pod mate but will lay down his life in order to keep Melody safe. Can her pod mates keep her safe?
Ellie Pond Rugged Rock: A Paranormal Mermaid Why Choose Romance in the Dark Wing Universe (Enchanted Elements Book 2) ARC REVIEW MERMAIDS! I love mermaids! This second book in this series picks up where Wicked Water left off. Melody gets a third mate- Ryker. I am enjoying this series!
This book was really good and well written. I loved the romance of it and I felt like I was part of the story. I do recommend reading the first book in the series before this one.

Goodness so much happened in this book! I don't want to give anything away! Poor Ryker! Taylor and his stealth mode was impressive. Melody learned more about family and may have some insane members. I can't wait to see what happens next!
The suspense, romance and plot continues as Melody's problems. appear resolved but the danger is ever present. I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish and highly recommend it. You’ll enjoy the mystery, adventure, and romance you find. The book is well paced, and you won’t want to put it down.
So the story is rocking along super slow. The first story had action and emotion. Book two slowed down considerably. Hopefully book 3 will pick back up.
