As a consequence of his savage battle with brown bear Riz, doors begin to close for gray wolf Legoshi, and he must strike out on his own. Temptation arises when he makes a new herbivore friend, Merino sheep Seven, who is being harassed at work by her carnivore colleagues. Then we finally meet the current valiant Beastar, horse Yahya, who shares a history with Legoshi’s family. Like Legoshi and Louis, Yahya strives to make the world a better place—but do his ends justify his means? And finally, both Louis and Legoshi must come to terms with their father figures…

This vol was okay for me.. I love how hard Legio is trying I do wish Haru gave him more chances... I feel like there stuck in the same problem.. which is sad..
JUNO AND Louis THEY KISSED!!!! AND IN PUBLIC!!! PLESE LET THEM DATE!!!
I loved this volume for so many reasons. The consequences for our characters are real and palpable, and you can tell that they didn't think things all the way through when they made their decisions in the previous volume. I continue to love each and every volume as it goes along. Looking forward to the next one.
Oh my giddy goodness! Here's what you missed on BEASTARS
-A new (and my second favorite) ship set sail *Juno and Louis share a kiss... in public! For those who aren't familiar with the characters, that's a huge step for Louis. I knew from that first dance they'd be something. AHH! They're an inverse Haru/Legosi! -Legoshi's life is going... places *He's got a criminal record from Louis allowing him to eat his 4 foot to replenish his strength mid-Riz battle and when his lawyer arrives, telling of the restrictions/hardships he'll now face, he's pretty chill about them: finding the bright side in the difficulties of getting a job in herbivore owned businesses, having his university choices slimmed down, but the one that causes all the sunshine to subside is when he's told he cannot marry a herbivore. Poor wolf literally falls over backwards in the middle of a crowded restaurant. *He drops out of school. I mean, I'm sure he would get stares/questioned about the case, but wouldn't the law protect a minor? Then again, he'd probably be made an example of by Cherryton, therefore furthering discrimination. *Legoshi also reunites with his estranged grandfather, Gosha, who is a komodo dragon. This means Legoshi 1/4 hybrid, shedding light on his attraction to Haru (interspecies romance runs in the family). But since his grandmother and mom aren't around, I expect it ended tragically. Oh, can we please get his record expunged so he can marry Haru and in turn, inspire Juno and Louis to step up and be brave as well? I need the line "I like tragedies" to be just that. A line. Honestly, watching his grandfather bow to continued discrimination and how the notion "that's just how it is" was ingrained in Legoshi's mind at such a young age (we get illustrations that show Legoshi having to play by himself in hose filled kiddie pool instead of a public one because Gosha was his sole guardian and having the rule that the two of them must sit in the back booths to avoid dirty looks) broke my heart.
But in his standing up in the restaurant, taking down Tem's killer, and his ongoing romance with Haru (despite the all the struggles it entails), we find reason to remain hopeful. That all the sacrifice and defying arbitrary rules will reap benefits beyond becoming a BEASTAR. I know Paru Itagaki wants this to end after twenty something volumes, and I'm fine with that. Just give me those two couple HEA's without a single loose end and I'll be satisfied.

I read BEASTARS volumes 1 though 11 three years ago. When the first major story arc concluded, I set the series aside to wait until my local library had all the volumes through the conclusion with volume 22. Now it is time to dive back into this weird world of predator and prey.
This volume is a transition point as the lead characters deal with the fallout of the big reveal of the murderer who devoured Tem, an alpaca, way back in Vol. 1. Legoshi, the lead wolf, is shaken by his actions and drops out of school when he realizes they have derailed the future he has been envisioning. Louis, the red deer, copes with his frosty father and a new disability. Family and friends chime in as the teenage boys try to find new ways forward while new characters are introduced who may effect how twisty those paths become.
Everything is a bit muddled right now, but I'm intrigued by the possibilities.
With the “Who killed Tem” and subsequent shishigumi arc finished, we move on.
After the dramatic events of the fight on New Years Eve, Legosi is marked as a “Predatorial Offender”, making it illegal for him to marry a herbivore, and making it almost impossible for him to get into college or get a good legal job. He decides to quit school, gets an apartment and starts working as a waiter in an interspecies restaurant. Dealing with “meat withdrawal” from eating Louis’ foot, Legosi tries to maintain distance from herbivores. This isn’t made any easier when a suicidal sheep named Sebun basically asks him to eat her on a public train, and then happens to become his new neighbor.
As for Louis, he returns to school with a prosthetic leg. The police, trying to cover up the incident, are giving him all of the credit for saving the day against Riz. He rejects the possibility of being a beastar, and says he will just be a good honor student. Louis and Juno find themselves connecting, as Juno is the only other person who knows about his life in the black market. They share a kiss In the hallway, but despite kissing her back, Louis rejects her, terrified about the feeling of kissing a carnivore.
We then meet Yafya, a horse who is the most recent beastar, who acts like a vigilante. Legosi’s grandpa, Gosha, was also In the running to become a beastar that year. We see the moment where Yafya and Gosha save Legosi’s grandmother, a wolf, and see how smitten she is with Gosha. When she gets pregnant with his child, Gosha steps down from becoming a beastar. We also learned earlier in the volume that marriage between poisonous and non-poisonous animals is illegal, which factors into the societal implications of this family structure. We see the discrimination Gosha faces, and has faced his whole life. His overall identity of pacifism, but willingness to be violent to protect those that he loves, matches up well enough to Legosis strong sense of honor and kindness, with his willingness to fight for what’s right.
(it’s important to note that Gosha is typically seen as dangerous in society bc his poison is so lethal. However he can not harm Legosi by his poison bc they are blood related)

I liked this volume. Lots or little side stories of different animals in the society. But the most exciting bit would have to be at the end. I’m so glad we finally get to meet his grandfather!
This felt more like a transitional volume because we just wrapped up a major arc. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this volume but it was really interesting to see Legoshi try to make it work in the real world now that he’s dropped out of school.
It’s weird to see the story shift almost completely away from the school, I wonder if some characters won’t show up much now that Legoshi is in a new setting. We’re still following Louis, but I wonder if we won’t see much of Jack, Bill, Pina, and Haru now.
I also really liked how there’s been repercussions to Legoshi eating Louis’ leg. Not only is it affecting his life due to him now having a criminal record, but it’s also affecting him mentally and physically since he’s now had a taste of living meat.
Some interesting characters showed up such as the current Beastar Yahya (he’s got a weird name but he’s super cool), and Gosha, Legoshi’s grandpa (I know we’ve seen him before but now he’s officially in the story). I have a feeling these two are gonna be some major players down the line.
I’ll be honest, I really was not a fan of Juno kissing Louis… Im not super surprised about it because of moments they had together earlier in the series, but I just don’t really like Juno lol. I find her annoying. But I can see this being part of Louis’ character development to fall in love with a carnivore.
I don’t really know what to expect with this series moving forward. Im assuming Gosha and Yahya will become major characters but I don’t know in what way. But I’ll say I’m excited to find out !! It’s so awesome to be reading content that’s completely new to me.

It was a good volume but a bit slow. The current Beastar is cool and his backstory was great! What, Legoshi is fighting alongside his Grandpa now?! And here I thought action scenes would become rarer as Legoshi is trying to adjust to the routine of his new life. You could never truly understand the brain of an author, I suppose. 🤷

Legoshi faces unforeseen changes in his life after his fight with Riz labels him a registered meat devourer and decides to leave school and live in an apartment, while others around him are also affected by his absence. We also get to follow an interestingly suave beastar’s story and a visit from Legoshi’s grandmother gets very tense. A (100%/Outstanding)
