Red Team #5

Rescuing Erin

Rate this book
Ex-Green Beret Colin Doyle has the most maddening, frustrating job in Washington D.C.—protecting the First Daughter of the United States. Erin Anderson is irresistibly beautiful, quick-witted and cunning, completely untouchable—and apparently bound and determined to lure him out of his dark shades and neutral suit.

From the moment Colin took over her security detail, Erin has felt their sizzling connection, and caught glimpses of a heart bigger than his protective streak. Yet the cool, no-nonsense mercenary has resisted every temptation her wit and cunning can cook up.

When she’s targeted by a home-grown terrorist, and Colin is forced to take Erin and run, keeping his distance is no longer an option. But as their attraction melts into desire, it becomes horrifyingly clear Erin is just pawn in a much bigger game—and it’ll take calling in the world’s most dangerous backup to beat a fast-ticking clock on the President’s life.

If they fail, all hell will break loose.

Rescuing Erin is a fun read. I especially like Erin. She is sassy and smart. I think because of the limit of the book, Miss Edwards does not dwell into deep with the dramatic plot. Some kidnapping here and there. Some mild torture and the hero saved the girl and the world.

Even the plot is predictable, I like this book very much. It has all the fun flirty banter. I wish Colin can be more broodier but hey, he is a sweetheart. I especially like the epilogue. We can see the HEA for some of the characters. The important characters.

Overall a good read.

That. Epilogue. Was. Everything.
I was going to give this a single star but the tears and laughs that the epilogue gave me, changed my mind.
The first two chapters gave me hope that this would be a great read but alas...it went off in the wrong direction and I just wasn't interested in the story.
Erin and Colin were bland for me as a couple. There was no intensity that I could feel. Many important scenes were glossed over. Riley Edwards' books may seem a tad bit cheesy at times, in terms of dialogue, but this one takes the cake...or should I say cheese??
There were many plot-holes and I'm not inclined to list them out because I don't really care that much.

I loved seeing my Zane baby, and like I said, THAT EPILOGUE MADE ME CRY but not as much Declan's. THAT one was a punch to my solar plexus.

What an amazing story!

Riley Edwards has quickly made her way to being one of my favorite authors. The stories she writes are utterly fantastic! They are raw, real, and emotional and will keep you wrapped in suspense on the edge of your seat from the first word to the last. I can never turn the pages fast enough but I am always sad to see the stories come to an end. Reading her work, I feel like an old friend coming home, catching up on gossip and family when visiting her characters in their world. There is always such a strong, steady bond that flows through them all, whether it is from being brothers’ in arms or being the strong, resilient women who stand by their sides, there is an unspoken thread that holds them all together; they will go above and beyond and do whatever it takes to protect the ones they love.

Rescuing Erin is a fabulous read. I loved Colin and Erin, both are great characters and they complement each other well. I enjoyed that their relationship was not an instant one; it was one that had to be fought for on both sides. They had a rocky start, always arguing and frustrating each other. Erin for just wanting to be treated as an adult and given information so it made her seem like a spoiled, petulant princess throwing a tantrum when she did not get her way and Colin for being gruff and abrupt and always staying tight-lipped, trying to keep her at arm’s length doing his job and wanting to keep her in the dark. Their relationship was not roses and rainbows but when they each finally let down their guards and listened to the other and understood what they were saying and where they were coming from a wonderful, trusting unbreakable bond stated to form. I liked the fact that they took the time to really get to know each other, making sure being together was what they both truly wanted not just taking advantage of the high emotions and situation they were thrust into before they dove into bed. And I also liked the fact that the sex did not take over the book. Colin and Erin’s encounters were well placed in the story and fit perfectly with what was happening in the storyline, though their chemistry was sizzling throughout the read. It was also a delight to see a lot of Susan Stoker’s characters added in the mix. This book is part of Stoker’s Special Forces World so I did expect to see a few pop in, but wow, there were many and it was awesome! Edwards did a great job of including her Delta, SEALs, and even the new Legacy boys in the story. There is tons of alpha testosterone and serious ass-kicking action to keep you engrossed in this book. Edwards’ other characters from the previous stories in the series are included, as well, and we get to catch up with them all as forgiveness is sought, new friendships are formed, battles are fought and won, rescues are made, new relationships are solidified, good news shared and celebrations enjoyed and, of course, some bad guys annihilated. We are even given a bonus look into the near distant future and what it has in store for these incredible characters and their families. And I have to admit, it was one of my favorite parts of the book (and I may have even teared up for a moment or two). This book contains everything you could possibly want in good romantic suspense. It is full of fun, laughs, deep-hearted conversations, life, and death, shock and awe, twists and turns, romance, mystery and more. It does not disappoint!

Do not pick up this book hoping to dip in and out – it’s a read-in-one-sitting-no-matter-how-tired-you-are book. One of my favorite aspects of books in worlds like Susan Stoker’s Special Forces is watching characters grow in interactions with other teams, and this story is no exception to that. In the story itself, I wanted to smack sense into Colin early on; yes, another mark of an awesome book is that those characters are so real you feel you can! As the President’s daughter’s bodyguard, he finds her behavior childish and annoying, not seeing that keeping her ignorant of the need for additional guards is causing her great stress. Once the two understand each other on this, they make a fabulous team, a typical Z Force team really. Erin’s character is expertly drawn, from her guilt over Olivia’s kidnapping, through her fear of similar treatment if she is kidnapped, to her choice of the living room at the end.

In the story, the adrenaline never drops off, and that is quite a feat considering its events. All in all, I recommend this without hesitation as one of my favorite Special Forces books.

This was a little bittersweet. Even knowing that I get to see these characters again in other books, the focus on the red team will be over. I've come to love these characters. Watching them go through Hell and back to find their happily ever after stings.

The epilogue of this book was everything I wanted and didn't even know that I needed. It helped soothe the goodbye to these amazing characters.

4.8 I'm just going to be honest here, I absolutely loved the entire Red Team Series. At the end of this particular book, since it's the last book of the series, the epilog was just outstanding. I only wish that there were more books for the Red Team.

I think this was my favorite

Blurbs get me. I didn’t want to read this story based on the blurb, but Erin and Colins story, the time with the President r Tom, the intrigue of the backstory (COA, NSA..and secret societies!?!?!?) and the catch up with the whole team...I loved this story. Great addition to the Stoker world and I loved seeing Tex go all alpha on everybody! So good.

A testament of a good author is someone who managed to change the views of the reader during the course of reading the book (for the better!). This is true when it comes to Riley Edwards books. To be honest, I went into this book with prejudice. I did not like Erin and I find Colin to be an asshole, I have to grit my teeth and tell MYSELF not the be the asshole and have an open mind LOL. As I delved further into this book I began to understand Erin's point of view and I understand why Colin acts the way he acted. Ms Edwards successfully marries the world of Red Team and Susan Stoker's SF:OA and we see many of our beloved characters from that series making cameos.

This book is go-go-go. It doesn't have a downtime or when you might think that everything is a-okay, something happened and it gets your adrenaline pumping again. It is by far, her grittiest book and I winced at some of the scenes. It is also one of the saddest for me as this is the end of the Red Team series. Riley Edwards gave us the sweetest of epilogue (thank you!) and I teared up. I'm hopeful that Ms Edwards will continue with the 2nd Generation just as she did with the 707 series. However, all is not lost as I am very positive that we will be getting the Gold Team series in the near future.

I really hate to see this series coming to an end but as the saying goes "All Good Things Comes To An End". However, Ms Edwards, as one of your ardent fan/readers and I'm not above begging here, I really would LOVE to read POTUS Tom Anderson and FLOTUS Clarrisa Anderson's story. Even with limited appearances in the book, their chemistry just sizzles.

Do you need to read the books in order? You don't have to but I highly recommend that you do. You will not regret picking up this series, the only regret that you have is having to read "The End".

** I was gifted an arc by the author but the views above are strictly my own **

Complicated plot, Colin isn’t a nice person!

The plot was way too complicated. I’m still confused as to where people fit into it!!
Colin is an a…e to Erin in the beginning and judges her incorrectly and in the process hurts her. Nice….

Erin is the presidents daughter. When a solid threat is made against her, Colin takes her to his house to protect her. So many things wrong with this. If she’s in that much danger, they would get her in the White House as they would be able to protect her there. Not ship her around the country, putting her in more danger!

Colin is an a…e to Erin. He judges her as spoilt and not very nice. When she tries it on with him, he lies and says that it’s just because she’s a woman that he got hard for her.

Erin is having a hard time adapting to her life as a presidents daughter and the lack of freedom that comes with it. The fact that she can’t get a boyfriend that is interested in her and not her family doesn’t help. So when she grows attached to her new protection, (Colin) and he rejects her repeatedly it really knocks her self esteem.

When they go to his house, he sees a different side to her and realises that he’s misjudged her. Hmm I didn’t see him apologising to her! Anyway after he’s decided that he was wrong and she’s really lovely, they start a relationship. While trying to avoid the bad men that are chasing them.

The plot is crazy! I couldn’t figure out who was who. As one man was working for several people. It was really stupid to be honest. Things that just wouldn’t have happened in real life, did in this book. Sorry.

Rescuing Erin: Special Forces Operation Alpha: Red Team Book 5 is by Riley Edwards. This series is about Z Corps and the men who work for Zane Lewis. All of them are former Special Forces from the various military sections. Together in teams of six, they are prepared to go anywhere for any length of time to solve any problem that arises in the world. They mainly deal with those involving innocent women and children, drugs, or missing people. Each of the three teams, Blue, Gold, and Red have their areas of expertise; but are always available to help each other out. Red team is the ultimate team and is stationed at headquarters. The others are stationed at distant places.
Erin Anderson was the President’s daughter. She had been under Secret Service protection for seven years. This was during her teens and she rebelled against the intrusion into her life. Her father, as President, ceased being the Dad she had known and her mother worked incessantly for her father leaving little time for her. Erin acted out, said terrible things to her parents, tried to outwit the Secret Service, and totally rebelled. In his need to have her protected, her father hired his friend Zane Lewis to provide protection for Erin. Zane assigned Colin to protect her. Colin saw through her actions to the girl beneath to see what she did most of what she did for attention that she felt she was deserving of. Could Colin keep her safe and help her see what she was doing or would he give up on her as he became attracted to her?

As much as I loved Rescuing Erin, I'm sad that I finished it because this is the finale in the Red Team series. Since I have read all of Riley's books, I know that Zane and some of the crew appear in future Team books but the Red Team will forever be my favorite. This was team member Colin Doyle and President Anderson's daughter Erin's story. Erin is 25 and fed up. She understands that she has been blessed to have two wonderful parents and a privileged life, but she's been under lock and key since she was 17 and her father started campaigning for the presidency and she desperately wants to live a real life. She's been breaking away from her security detail and now there are threats so Red Team operative Colin Doyle has been assigned as her personal protection. Colin has no patience for Erin, who he believes to be self centered and spoiled. When more serious threats happen to Erin, the president requests that Colin take her into hiding. As Colin gets to know Erin away from the stress of D.C., he begins to realize that he was completely wrong about her. As Erin and Colin spend more time together their attraction heats up but before they can even attempt at a relationship together, they will need to survive the threats that are now coming at them from multiple directions! Rescuing Erin is truly Riley Edwards at her finest. There's emotion, angst, action, suspense, intrigue and so much more! It was told from dual POV like all the other books in the Red Team series and is best read in order. Enjoy!

Colin and Erin

This was the perfect way to end this series. I have loved every book and this one was no different. Colin and Erin’s story was full of action. They were on the run, kidnapped, and rescued each other countless times.

Colin was assigned to protect the president’s daughter, Erin, when she became a part of a larger threat. He took her on the run to keep her safe and discovered the spoiled act she put on was just that, an act. Erin was tired of having no control of her life and just wanted to be treated like the adult she was. Once Colin realized the error in his judgment, he gave Erin exactly what she needed and stopped keeping her in the dark. While forced together, their feelings for each other grow. Colin is worried she’s just reacting to the situation and makes sure she knows that while he’s all in, he needs to know she is as well.

Colin might be my favorite member of the Red Team now. I loved how honest he was with Erin and I loved that he took things slowly and made her feel special. Erin was a bada**. She was raised by strong parents who taught her valuable lessons on how to take care or yourself and how to treat others. She saved Colin just as many times as he saved her.

There was never a dull moment in this book. Even when you think the action is over, it’s not. I loved the epilogue and the glimpse into the future where all five couples are happy and raising their families. The ending was perfect.

Rescuing Erin

Riley Edwards never fails to make me laugh, cry, sigh, and be proud of the country I live in. Her alpha men and independent kickass woman who fight for freedom on every page are worth every sigh and tear. Her books are adrenaline packed full of traitors, terrorists, human trafficers. Rescuing Erin is more kicka$$ than most because we get to catch up with all of the other teams and their families.

Erin is the president's daughter and Colin is her bodyguard. Their chemistry is off the charts and you will not be able to put this one down. Character development is phenomenal and the storylines will keep you guessing. But what Riley Edwards is best at is her feels for every character and relationship. I'm am blown away by her intuition and how every emotion, and action is so right for each one. These people become real to the reader and it's the reason when you start a book by Edwards you will hurry to finish it so you can read the next one. Erin is one of my favorite characters because everyone tags her as a spoiled princess but she is just an ordinary person with all the strengths and weaknesses we all have. The Red Team books are a great series and can be read alone but are a much stronger experience if read in order.

The last single man from the original red team didn’t know what hit him. He went from being angry and annoyed about the “spoiled brat” he had to guard. She was defiant and did things just to poke the bear. The bear was Collin and the spoiled brat was the president’s daughter, Erin.

When a true threat arrives in the form of a dangerous stalker, Collin and Erin have to go into hiding together. After going from one dangerous situation to another, the two learn that it’s all bravado on each of their parts. The situations just keep getting worse, when one threat is taken care of, another more dangerous threat shows up. Starting with a simple stalker goes all the way up the chain into world politics!

I stayed on the edge of my seat reading. Every time I thought I could breathe, a more deadly danger shows up. Amazingly, in between all of the action, Collin and Erin find love between each other. The love they have holds strong through each situation. The bravery of the women in this series along with the love and support they give their men and one another brings joy to my heart.

I’m sad to see this series end but I’m excited to continue to visit them in other books!

Riley Edwards never fails to take me into her worlds she writes. 5 stars

What a great chapter to the Red Team and Z Corps. I've read all the books and am absolutely in love with this series and author. It was a page turner, from the first page. The things that Colin says to Erin and swoonworthy and perfectly normal for an alpha male. I laughed, I cried, I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.

There is a wonderful description of what/who/how the military works, that was very beneficial to someone like me who did not know. The other parts that I Ioved was when Colin thought - "All I needed for her was to take the first step, and I'd lead her where I wanted her". Another was when he said to Erin that Tom was not disappointed in you, it's us, the situation we are in. Colin was a gentlemen, through and through and Ms. Edwards gave several examples in her descriptive writing. I was inside the story, and that's what I love about a good story and author, they transport you.

I loved the interaction with all Ms. Stoker's characters, it was great to see them all again. I absolutely recommend this author and any of her stories. One CLICK all the way.

Goodbye Red Team...
Wow, what can I say...endings are always so emotional. Colin and Erin. The annoyed hard nosed alpha male protector and the spoiled presidents daughter...or so it seems. When the walls around a heart start to fall, is it possible that the one who needs protecting is the one who will walk through fire to protect the one they love? Riley Edwards did an amazing job building that hard nosed relationship between Colin and Erin until finally the walls fell. With the help of the rest of the Z-Corps teams, as well as Susan Stokers Deltas, Legacy Seals and in Riley's words "The King of All Things Cyber John "Tex" Keegan" they help to keep the United States and its leaders safe from the enemy and bring two hearts together to become one. Hello Gold Team...
If Riley Edwards is not in your reading lineup, you are truly missing out. Brings all the feels to the table and then some. Amazing talent!

Wow wow wow. What can I say about the writing of Riley Edwards. For me it started with Nightstalker and now we are onto book 5 and it was all go right from the first page. As I navigated from chapter to chapter my heart was in my mouth, I laughed at some of the things Erin came out with and cried at other parts. Colin Doyle, expert with Z Corps and a member of red team has been tasked to guard the presidents daughter after threats were levelled against her. Erin Anderson the presidents daughter acts spoilt and doesn’t want to be guarded all the time. Well until she sees Colin. As you read the book you find that there is chemistry there but how can they do anything about it when things go wrong. Threats become real with kidnappings, attempted murders and a threat to national security whilst some of my favourite characters from Susan Stoker do their bit in the back ground. I loved all of the characters and the storyline and the way the author bought everything to life as it played out in my head. I hope there are other books in this series because I want Declan to get a HEA.

Let me start by saying I couldn't put this book down, so set aside time to relax and enjoy. It is part of Susan Stokers Special Forces world. Characters from Riley Edwards previous books and Susan Stokers books are scattered throughout with links to both Colin and Erin. Colin is tasked with keeping the first daughter (Erin) safe. Initially Colin attempts to keep his distance as we learn more about Erin and the life she has, we understand more about her reactions to circumstances and the relationship is born. The interaction between Erin and Colin was amusing and at times intense and it feels as though we learn about the couple at the same time they learn about each other. Be prepared for some tense, nail biting moments before we get to the HEA. This book has everything, twists and turns, good guys bad guys, a sexy alpha hero, friendships, romance and maybe a few tears.

Overall the book was fast paced, without feeling rushed. The characters were well developed and likable and I loved the cameos of the characters from the other books.

This series just gets better and better once again I was reading until the early hours of the morning as I just couldn't put it down until that last page was turned and then I wanted more

Colin Doyle is an ex green beret he now works with Z corps and the red team and he has been given the most frustrating job on earth he has t guard the first daughter Erin Anderson the most annoying and scintillating woman on earth. He is deeply attracted and he knows that he can't go there but that doesn't make it any easier. They continually set sparks off one another she wants t be treated as an adult and advise about what is going on he is gruff and silent and just wants t get the job done When they finally listen to one another and start to communicate then a bond starts to form When danger strikes it will take not only Colin but his friends from Delta Seals and the legacy boys to keep Erin Safe and the epilogue was the icing on the cake

Colin’s detail of security for president’s daughter, Erin, has been trying to say the least. Not only has Erin stated and acted on her feelings for Colin, she’s determined to live her life her way despite the mandatory security… even if it means making their job(s) near impossible.

But when someone gets too close and Erin’s person secrets are about to become national gossip or something more nefarious, Colin has no choice but to remove Erin from the international glare of DC. Now that it’s the two of them alone, Colin makes more of an effort to put their effort on a more friendly footing for their sanity. What he didn’t account for was that he wouldn’t be able to hold his own feelings.

The outing was by the numbers for the most part, multiple action pieces was a treat and the leads while likable individually, as a couple, Colin and Erin were bland. To my taste, high points of the outing were the epilogue and the leading introduction to the Gold team.

Really enjoyed this book. I read it as a standalone so hadn't read the previous books in this series, which didn't make it difficult to follow the story. Just felt halfway through I wish I had read the other books because this one kept me hooked.

Despite some slow dialogues and progression in the story it had some good alternating elements between action, tension building between main characters, hot sex scenes and unfolding of the story.

After reading a few review I was particularly looking forward to the epilogue but felt quite disappointed. It was as if the writer wanted to end with all these happy endings. Maybe because I hadn't read the other books it felt a bit too mushy for me.

Sex scenes were okay. Some a bit hot but could definitely be far more steamier, but I guess with the heroines story just about enough steamy as it could get without being too over the top.

All in all a good, enjoyable, fast paced read. Didn't drag out too long.

"Rescuing Erin" is book five of the Red Team, and I am quickly becoming a fan of Riley Edwards. I love all the guys that I have read in this series and the heroines have been great also.
Ex-Green Beret, Colin Doyle is part of the Red Team and has been assigned the job to protect Erin Anderson, the daughter of the President of the United States. Erin is sassy, smart, and fun loving, she also has a slight rebellious streak, I mean someone is always watching her. In the beginning Colin doesn't like her very much, he has read her the wrong way, which doesn't help out their relationship. As time goes by he realizes his mistake, he really likes her but when threats force them alone together in a safe place their feelings grow.
If you like romance with some suspense thrown in, then this is the book for you. I loved the epilogue, it got the reader caught up with the team, their spouses and families. Now on to the Gold Team!!
Five "sunshine" stars for this one!!

What a stop you in your tracks kind of read. OMG it's a little daunting to read something like this and know it's probably going on in real life.

Colin and Erin's book was really powerful. You have a daughter of a President and you get a glimpse of what life is like when your dad is President. All the crazies come out of the wood work. Frightening if you ask me. All the power hungry men who will do anything for greed. Erin is right up there with the rest of the guys women. OMG when it counts she's right there. I loved their story and I loved how she wasn't afraid to have Colin's six. Great read and I loved how Riley closed out the Red Teams book. We got to see the future more or less of how these couples progressed. Robert and Asher Linc's and Jasmine's son's followed basically in their footsteps. I could feel Jasmine's pain. Okay now I'm off to the Gold Team. I know deep breath I'll need it.

So Good!

I can’t say enough good things about this book! I love all the hot, alpha men of the Red team. Colin was assigned as part of the personal security team for Erin, the President’s daughter. She’s always been defiant and willful, traits that both attracted Colin to her and infuriated him. Erin has always had a crush on him and even acted on that attraction once but he was reluctant due to his duties as her bodyguard. When they are forced to go on the run because of threats to her life, that attraction smolders until they finally succumb to it. It’s an action packed roller coaster ride of suspense, intrigue and government secrets that will keep you guessing even till the end. Riley Edwards has a winning formula with her hot military men and the independent strong women they are attracted to. I can’t wait for more!

This is book 5 in Riley Edwards Red Team Series.
This is Colin and Erin’s story.
(This is my first story by this author, so I might get some details wrong). Colin is a retired(?) green beret who is now working with a top secret group of badass men. Erin is the First Daughter. She is spunky and snarky and loves a good bickering it seems with a certain Badass hottie. She totally wants him and he’s playing hard to get, because we’ll, she’s the job.
This author gives you quite a few twists and turns in this story! I knew where she was going before she switched it up on me and left me NEEDING more! This book is a total edge of your seat, tell the hubs to get take out for dinner, page turner!!!

Wait until the ending!!! OMG!!!
Wait until you see which characters are in this story (more like who isnt in this story), but it doesn’t seem crowded at all, it all worked so perfectly!!!

well defined endings and well set up beginnings

So the red team concludes (kind of, these boys won’t go quietly and will appear in the other team series too!) and the Gold team begins

A fitting conclusion to the series, with a carry over storyline to walk us neatly into the next set of books. Colin the last to fall and as we all long suspected it was in the direction of the wildly underestimated Erin.

A rocky start filled with lust with no concept of each other as real people, concluded with a deep understanding of the other and steam being generated at every turn, having travelled a perilous path together that accelerated their journey.

The wider team performed perfectly as usual and a giant team effort towards the end sets pulses racing as operation alpha team are brought together for one big op.

A fab read and that epilogue……

Erin is the daughter President. Ex-Green Beret Colin Doyle had been assigned to be her personal bodyguard because she keep ditching her secret service bodyguard.
Erin wanted Colin from the moment she saw him. He was attracted to Erin but he would do anything to do with her cause he didn't want to disappoint the President nor Zane Lewis.

There came a point where Erin life got put in danger and she needed a full time personal bodyguard and Colin was it. So, Colin and Erin stayed at a safe house and then crap hit the fan. It came to a where they had to go on the run because there were people after her. While on the run Colin started to fall for Erin.

It comes to point in the story Colin knows that Erin is his and that he is going to marry her.

Loved it and can't wait for the next one.

Best Riley story yet. Lot of suspense, action, fear, anger, treason, traitors, and more. I love how all the various teams from other series of other author’s are brought in to work together. What a brotherhood and sisterhood. Tough women and protecting men. I love the President in these stories. What a badass and part of the brotherhood. Disgusting is the under handing sell outs in the CIA, NSA, SPECIAL FORSES, GOVERNMENT that will sell out friends and family and country.
Erin is an amazing women and strong and amazing and the presidents daughter. Colin is caring , a great son, loyal team mother. He will do anything to protect Erin from being kidnapped. Kidnapping, torture, helicopter crashes, Aren’t enough to keep them apart. They are made for each other. Great way to pull the series together. Must read. Too much for a review. Fantastic Riley.

Collin is a special force military man that has the job of protecting the presidents daughter Erin. Collin believes Erin to be a spoiled brat. Erin has been making moves on Collin and he is resisting. When danger comes to Erin, Collin takes her away from everything she knows to keep her safe. As they travel and get to a safe house, Collin realizes that Erin isn't a spoiled brat but is frustrated with no one telling her whats going on and constantly having secret service and bodyguards all the time and having no privacy. As the danger gets closer Collin learns just how strong and intelligent she is. Will Collin be able to keep her safe? A must read
