Owen Cullen was a dream. Not a dream come true because I’d never dared to dream. He was my wildest fantasy, a hallucination, a delusion. The handsome man who’d saved my life—twice. He was a real-life hero, and I was…what was I? Filth, that was what I was. The daughter of a gangster, the niece of the reigning king of Chicago’s underground. I tried my best not to fall in love with Owen. I tried not to mistake his kindness. I tried to remember the lessons of my youth: Love was a weakness. Sex was a weapon. It didn’t work. I fell in love. Then my uncle found me, and I ruined everything.

Natasha. It was a fake name. One she’d made up on the fly when my team had rescued her from a life worse than death. She had no place to go, so I took her home. It was supposed to be temporary, just until we learned who she was. But the woman proved to be stubborn and kept her secrets buried deep. She’d lived with me for months, and every day the pull of her called to me. I was living a nightmare of my own making. I didn’t trust women, especially the one sleeping in my guest bedroom. I’d fought the good fight. I’d held out for as long as I could. Then all of her secrets came out, but it was too late. I was in too deep. Natasha, the beautiful woman with no last name, was mine. But she had a last name—Pollaski.

Everything came crashing down.

I was no stranger to the battlefield. I was used to blood, guts, and no glory. What I wasn’t accustomed to was the feeling of my heart being torn from my chest. What I was not acquainted with was desperation. Natasha was gone, and I had less than twenty-four hours to find her, or she’d be gone in a different way.

Welcome back to Z Corps and Special Forces—Operation Alpha. New team, new badass former military heroes. Like the teams that have come before, Owen, Gabe, Myles, Kevin, and Cooper are ready for action. With a little help from Susan Stoker’s unparalleled cast of heroes.

I’ve read a couple of the other books, and they were average, but this book is literally talking angst for at least 70%… I gave up at that point. NOTHING happens. It’s the same exact thing being talked to death - she’s so filthy and his ex is such a bitch. <<< And it’s all melodrama, especially his part. His ex wanted him to pay more attention to him… he didn’t and she turned to shopping and racking up bills he couldn’t afford. Really? That’s what has kept him emotionally shutdown for 20 years lol. Anyway, If you like talking angst - go for it, but I need a plot. None here.

Owen and Natasha🤩

What a wonderful start to this new series by Riley❣️If you remember Eva’s story, she was kidnapped and comes upon Natasha just before she’s put on a plane because she’s been sold😳

Now months later, her Uncle is demanding she returns home but she’s knows what awaits her if she does😢Owen’s team kicks in and they take her to a safe house but in the process try to help her uncover the woman she is😍

Amazing story and I’m excited to find out what’s in store for Gabe and Eve next❤️

Welcome to the Blue Team. The way Riley writes about her Teams in her books...as a reader you can actually feel the loyalty. Also, the Brotherhood, good humor teasing, the ribbing, and the smirks, when they know their Brother just found their woman.

Welcome to Owen and Nat (Natasha/Sarah)'s story. If you want to read a well written story of an Alpha protector and a strong, stubborn women...you came to the right place. Love, suspense, and humor makes this a must read. I am so looking forward to learning more about the Blue Team and the team's that follow. Must read. Also..side note...check out some of Riley's other books. Those characters may come into play in this one.

This story didn’t hold my attention. It felt like I started in the middle of the book. . Even though this is list as a first of a series, it must of been a spin-off from an series. I doubt I will continue with the Blue Team Series.

The book was okay, but I think the main character, Owen, is a little too rough and clueless, and I feel like our female lead takes on too much blame for what happened to her. I think the problem is that the story is a little two-dimensional with events that are really serious and graphic, but leaves the reader feeling like it’s unrealistic.

I loved this book! It was a great start to a new series and showcased exactly what I love about Riley's writing. I cannot wait for the next in this series! I did a reread on audio and loved it even more the second time around. Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

33 Books. 8 series. Countless hours of immense enjoyment. And the goodness continues on with the latest release for prolific writer Riley Edwards. Now, as always, I’ll start by stating that this book is a standalone (and the first in the new Blue Team Series). If you haven’t read any of her previous releases (umm...why??) there is enough back story provided that you won’t be lost. However, I would highly recommend that you read Maximus and Declan first. This will help you with the backstory for these two characters. With that out of the way, on with my review...

In each review I give, I try to convey all the ins-and-outs that is a Riley Edwards book. The fantastic writing, the robust characters, the cornucopia of emotions. And her newest release, Owen, encompasses all of this and more. From the very beginning, I’m talking the snippets shown in other books, of these two characters had me hooked. I knew going in that Ms. Edwards was going to put me through the wringer but I dived in anyway.

The hell that Natasha has lived through would have broken most people. It almost broke her. Until she met Owen. Rescued twice by him, Natasha is struggling to discover who she really is as a person. Not live in the shadow of her crime family. But to do this means laying bare all her “sins” and possibly watching the man she has come to love to walk away in disgust. Is she ready to fight for herself and her future?

Owen has learned from his horrific first marriage that women cannot be trusted. Just look at “Natasha”. He knows that’s not her real name. And when he finds out all her secrets will he be able to handle who she really is? Will the attraction he’s been fighting make it worth the effort to finally let her into his broken heart?

With each and every story, Riley Edwards continues to amaze me with her brilliance. Her knack to pull the reader in and keep them engaged through the whole story is amazing. Her robust characters are becoming family. Her books are becoming addictive. When you begin to schedule your day around a Riley Edwards release it may be time to seek help (in the form of better hiding places to read without interruptions). This is where I’m at. This is where you’ll be once you begin reading the fabulousness that is Riley Edwards. Embrace the addiction. Pick up Owen now (and you might as well get all the other books too). It’ll be the best decision you’ll make.

P.S. Bonus that this is a Special Forces: Operation Alpha book also! So that means we get to see some of our favorite characters from Susan Stoker’s books which is always fun.

The anticipation you feel for a new Riley Edwards book is a living, breathing thing, you know it's going to emotionally shred you as much as it enthrals you and you simply can't wait! Reading it you can't put it down but you don't want it to end and then when you finish all you want is to read it again and yes this was Owen too! I cried, I raged, I held my breath, I hurt, I smiled and I loved this story. We first meet Natasha and Owen in the Maximus and Declan books from the Gold Team series which I highly recommend you read first to get some background - I'll add the caveat that you should read ALL of Riley's books!
Riley is so good at writing about characters who have lived through hell, who've sunk to the absolute bottom them sunk a little more. There is absolutely nothing sugar coated about Natasha, the daughter and niece of Chicago crime bosses she's been abused and used all her life, she truly believes she is filth. When Owen and the Team first rescued her, she had nothing but a made-up name and no place to go so she simply moved in. She hasn't forgotten her past and she hasn't shared it but Owen is her dream, because she knows she'll never the reality, she'll will never be worthy.
Owen has so many issues from his past and has let his horrific first marriage shape his life for far too long, he believes he is equally unworthy of Nat. Two people desperately attracted to each other each trying to do what they thing is best for the other. Natasha is an incredible character, she's been subjected to so much and only sees herself as weak but she is incredibly strong and cares so much about everybody else, she did what she had to do to survive. When Owen finally comes to his senses he is a beautiful force to be reckoned with determined to give Nat everything she's ever dreamed about and I truly love their interactions. When she finally trusts him with all the secrets from her past Owen knows he will be there by her side helping her overcome the darkness and finding her way to her dreams.
Only the past is still there threatening, Nat cannot bear the thought of someone suffering because of her so she disappears, Owen has rescued her twice already, can he do it again except this time they both have so much more to lose?
There are certainly no punches pulled in this story - it's gritty, it's raw, it's emotional but there is plenty of humour and fun to offsetting the angst, much of it provided by Nat herself as she begins to find her voice and the rest provided by the plentiful supply of wonderful supporting characters from Owen's Team, Z Corps and Susan Stoker's silver Seals.
So I loved it, completely 5* all the way, I don't think I will ever get enough of these books and now the anticipation begins to build again for the next instalment - can't wait!
I received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Ok so while this is book 1 in the Blue Team series, I would absolutely read Maximus and Declan before reading this book. Those 2 books help give backstory into Natasha and what happened to her, especially in Declan's book. In this one, you get the full story of Natasha and Owen. Owen is a real life hero to Nat, her ultimate dream, fantasy, and hope all rolled up into one person. He has saved her not once but twice already. Nat believed herself to be filth, the daughter of a gangster and the niece of the current head of Chicago's underground. She is trying not to forget the things she was taught, and she is trying her hardest not to fall for Owen. She knows she isn't good enough for him, but she also wants to keep him and his friends safe. Owen knows that Natasha isn't her real name. Just as he knows that she had no where else to go, no where else she could be safe. He doesn't know the full story of what happened to her, but when he finds out he will need to help her overcome more than he ever thought possible. And when she disappears, he will have to find her before she is lost for good.

I knew Nat had a back story, you can't help but know that it has to be something bad. Especially after reading Declan's book. I never expected it to be as bad as it is. Nor did I expect to feel the things I did while reading her story. This woman went through things that no woman should have to go through, and to know that it is perpetrated by her own family, the people that should have loved and protected her? It completely broke my heart. But this woman has a strength that i really wasn't expecting. She has a spine of steel with this capacity of caring that I wasn't expecting from her, and I loved it! I loved everything about this story and the characters!! Owen has his own issues stemming from his own past. But when he finally steps beyond those issues, this man is phenomenal! Not only with the way he is with his woman but just with how much is willing to do for the people he cares about. The side characters are, as always, great! I loved seeing snippets of previous characters along with the men from Susan Stoker's books. But above all, it was the story and the main characters that sucked me in and kept me reading. And after that epilogue, I really need Gabe's story now!!!

I really wanted to love this book enough to give it 5 stars. It was a great book full of suspense, questions you as the reader are dying to know, as well as steam and romance. But it took me awhile to get into it. I think finally by the 45% mark is when I finally started really getting into it and not being able to put it down.
The two main characters, Owen and Natasha are great characters. Owen is a strong, alpha-male who in in the Z-Corp Special Forces. He and his team rescue Natasha from her uncle, who also happens to be a big drug and crime lord, who not only killed both her parents but use and make Natasha sell herself for sex and drugs on his behalf. Natasha has never known an ounce of true kindness and has never trusted anyone, let alone had a friend. She has lived a very dark life.. until Owen and his team rescued her and went into hiding to keep her safe from her uncle. While in hiding, Owen is trying to fight his feelings toward her and secretly, Natasha is trying to fight hers as well. Owen is patient with her, and teaches her simple things like chopping wood and buying her first pair of sneakers ever. Natasha is a strong, giving person who learns how to help to try and give back to the men who saved her and have given her so much, much more than she's ever had in her life before. Throughout the book, we see Natasha grow into a stronger person, who leaves her old life behind and finally comes to realize her past life was terrible and she was forced to do those things and that doesn't make her a bad person. Owen helps her see her self worth and feels sick about the things she was forced to do, but he vows to always protect her and keep her safe. When they finally tell each other how they feel about each other, it's off to the races and sparks fly and I'm pretty sure my kindle almost melted! These two together are amazing, their passion and love they feel for each other is amazing. To keep Owen and his team and their families safe from her uncle who wants her back, Natasha sacrifices herself and goes back to her uncle, knowing Owen will save her and take care of him once and for all.

Owen is the first book of The Blue Team from the Special Forces Operations Alpha series by Riley Edwards, with the Blue Team working along side our favorites from the Red and Gold Teams!
Ok, so I listened to this book instead of reading it first and I love it but let me talk just a little about the 2 narrators, Janine Granda and Sebastian York. I will start with Janine Granda. I have not heard her in a book before so this was a real treat. Being the first book in the series, having a fresh voice added to the suspense of the story line! She did an incredible job as Natasha! Now, Sebastian York. I had a hard time putting him in this character but only because I had heard him in a few other ones that were not military type themed books. In my mind, he was still the billionaire that I repeated listened to. But, he is an incredible narrator and I was easily able to refocus on him and the character he was and really enjoyed the scenes as he expressed them like none other than Sebastian York could! I love that these 2 were paired together to do that.
Owen and Natasha, both strongly attracted to one another but neither one would act on it leaving the story to slowly build you up! Owen saves Natasha from a horrible life when the team found her while rescuing Eva and because she had no place to go he took her home with him so that he could continue to protect her. After being burned by his ex-wife, Owen had no plans to search for or believe anything other than protection would ever come from her being there so he was safe! Or he thought….
Natasha kept too many secrets because she wanted to protect everyone so giving herself up to her uncle to save everyone from the teams that rescued her was the logical idea but Zane and Owen wouldn’t let that happen. Now, she finds herself hiding out with Owen in a secluded area playing house. She is safe to make her own choices and hopefully free to act on them, until her uncle finds her and she prays Owen finds her in time before it is too late!
Riley Edwards did not disappoint and I am excited to follow along with the Blue Team and watch each of them find the HEA just as the Red and Gold Team did!

This book was refreshing, and a perfect Romantic Suspense story filled with Hot Steaminess!!

Natasha was a scared broken girl filled with feelings of guilt for what she was hiding. She came from a corruptive family that was involved in some of the most hateful crimes and was forced to witness many of them. She was also brutalized by her sadistic uncle who had no remorse or moral compass.
This led her to creating an alternate personality in order to separate herself mentally from who she really was.

Owen truly lived up to the title of "Night in Shining Armor" and was part of the Blue Team that saved her from her horrid life. He took tender care and helped heal her from her pain. Little did he know that during that time she would come to help him be able to trust someone again with his heart. Ultimately, they would each provide what each other need and develop true love for one another

Waa so happy to hear that Janine and Sebastian, two of my favorite narrators, would be telling this story! They were perfect and I genuinely enjoyed listening to them!

“I’m okay, Owen. None of it’s mine.” “Owen?” I jolted and scrambled back when I heard a voice I didn’t know.

“It’s all good, Natasha. All good,” the man said. I didn’t spare a glance at the man speaking. I only had eyes for the man stalking toward me. Owen bent down and scooped me into his arms. And try as I might, I couldn’t hold back the cry of pain as Owen straightened. He said nothing, but he didn’t need to. The hard set of his jaw said more than a million words. He walked down the stairs, through the foyer, and out the front door. Gabe met us there, took me in, and his eyes flashed with something so scary I buried my head in Owen’s neck. I knew what he saw. I knew because I could taste Wilco’s blood—I’d rolled in it. I had it all over me. Always dirty.”

Oh what a ride
Another amazing listen of an amazing story.
We’ve been desperate to know more not only about Natasha, but the blue team since Maximus and the story development in Declan. Well this doesn’t disappoint.

The blue team are another amazing creation in the wonderwall that is Riley’s mind. Enough about each character is included in the book to make you eager for the subsequent stories about each blue team member (which is wonderfully expanded by another character that was quietly brought into the series in the gold team books too). All of this doesn’t however take away from the underlying love story that is Owen and Natasha.

Riley Edwards knows how to write angsty, broken, dangerous characters that even though you know there MUST be a HEA, you are still so nervous throughout the book that they won’t actually get there.

Natasha’s development as a character (and person) is terrifyingly brutal and honest and done to perfection by Janine Geanda. Her fear is so real it leaches off the pages and into your ears, as her transition from reluctant and guilt ridden Sarah to independent free thinking Natasha is done so fantastically well with so much emotion.

Owens love for her and his struggle with that is performed wonderfully by Sebastian York, who brings a maturity in his voice to a character that I didn’t know it needed till I heard it ♥️
Even though he spends a good amount of the book harping back to his divorce before Gabe kicks him in the proverbial, his actions, thoughts and conversations that pertain to Natasha are so beautifully written and narrated it makes this a truly emotional story.

However that isn’t to say there isn’t humour, the blue team are just as happy to act like little boys as the other teams and their personalities shine off the pages.

A fantastic experience and I’m looking forward to Gabe x

“You stole the air straight from my lungs and I haven’t caught my breath since, hope to God I never do.”

I have been waiting for Blue Team in audio and I am thrilled with the direction of the series so far! Owen, Blue Team book 1 picks up where Gold Team left off. Owen Cullen is the former special ops Z Corps operator who recently rescued a victim of the sex trade, Sarah Pollaski. Little did he know the depths her family would go to get her back. Sarah grew up in a dismissive and abusive home, only to be passed on to her deplorable uncle when he violently took over the family business. After living in a nightmare most of her life, Sarah finds it difficult to trust the man who soothes her nightmares, let alone the kindness of Owen’s teammates and their spouses. What’s more heartbreaking is her belief that by association, she will tarnish them. Buckle up for a tempestuous ride and a soul-deep whirlwind romance. Owen and Sarah (Natasha) resist their natural magnetism, but their chemistry is undeniable from the start. I loved getting to know the Blue Team better and was totally charmed by cameos from Zane, Ivy, and more Z Corps favorites. The incorporation of characters from Susan Stoker’s world was fun, I need to dive deeper into her series!

Sebastian York is a marvelous addition to Riley’s world. I think he was wonderfully cast as Owen to bring the gruff, standoffish, but kind hearted protector to life. Janine Granda was a new to me narrator and her narration of Sarah made her an instant favorite. She wholly embraced the character and gave an outstanding performance as the tormented, broken, fierce AF Sarah(Natasha). I can’t wait to continue this series and hear more of this fantastic duo!

Stories keep getting better. Riley goes deep into the lives and psyche. Natasha had a shit life. Mental, physical, sexual abuse by her own father and uncle. Trafficking is the most horrific.
Owen has a destroyed psyche about women, love, trust. His ex wife destroyed him in all ways. So, love and giving him self to a women will never happen. Owen happens to save Natasha on a rescue mission to save Eva. She has no place to go so he takes her home with him to protect her. She is dead inside , will not open up, has many secrets about her family, what she went through and saw, the guilt, a victim. All hell breaks loose with Natasha’s uncle locating her and threatening and carrying out against Zane, his teams and their families. Natasha gives herself up to her uncle to save Owen, Zane and all the members of the team and their families. It backfires when Franco grabs her at the airport and takes her to ger Uncle’s retreat. She prays Owen will find her in time or she will never be found again. Fear, trust, revenge, hate, horror all come together. Natasha is strong, tough, and is no longer going to be a victim. There love for each other knows no bounds. She and her uncle go at it. Blood everywhere. But whose? Again to much to put in a review. Plus I do not want to give away spoilers. I will tell you I was up until 3 AM to finish this book. Could not put it down. Natasha has such a sense of humor even i while terrified. Riley, your characters have such depth, character and personality. You bring the horrible demons of the world to life. And it is horrific. Men like Zane and his teams truly are making the world a better place.

We meet Owen and the Blue team when they are tasked with saving Eva and stumble across Sarah/Natasha. Turns out she is the niece of a Chicago crime boss who has kept her true identity from Owen and the rest of his team. But they all know who she is and have been waiting for her to open up. Zane is on top of things as always. So the teams know who she is and what her uncle is capable of.
Natasha has kept to herself being quiet and not talking a whole lot like she has always done to survive in her family's world, she isn't used to speaking up for herself much less talking about feelings. She has kept her feelings for Owen to herself not realizing that he feels the same way. Natasha has never been shown love or kindness.
Now her uncle has found her and is threatening all of Z Corps and their women. She is scared for her life but more importantly she is scared for the women and children she has grown close to. He wants her back and will stop at nothing to make that happen.
Owen and the rest of the Blue team with help from Zane, Tex and Cruz will get it all sorted out. In the end Natasha rescues herself with the help of the Blue team.
It was nice see Nasasha’s character grow and come into her own and hold her own with the men of the Blue team as we get to see more of how these men think and work. Cant wait to meet the women who try and tame them.
Such a great read as all Riley Edwards books are. It was nice to touch base with the crew and the ever grouchy Zane.

This author does it again with another amazing read that was very very very difficult to put down to get some sleep and just when I think I have my fav couple from this author....BAM....she messes it up (in a good way).
Owen has his past that holds him back from another relationship, especially marriage, until Natasha comes into his life. He knows nothing about this woman, her real name, background, NOTHING, until the last book where her name is revealed, which adds to more questions and uncertainties. Sara aka Natasha is trying to survive, it’s all she knows how to do due to her upbringing and just when she thinks she may be safe....she isn’t...her uncle, an evil man and leader of the underworld wants her back. Owen and his team gather together to protect and to bring her uncle down....can she learn to be the woman she wants to be with Owen and will Owen finally let go of his past and move forward.
Holy smokes what a read with steam, suspense, secrets, emotional scenes that once again require a box of tissues by your side and AMAZING characters, not just in this author’s world but characters from another amazing author, banding together to protect and save Natasha. The story flowed beautifully, the descriptions were spot on and once again the author hits it out of the ball park. And the best part....Zane’s dimples come out once again !!

Breathing but not living

Natasha has spent months just trying to get through each day, Owen keeps her safe and doesn't push her...but time has run out and the past has caught up with her again- is she going to return to certain death or is she going to fight to live and have to future she dreams of?
We knew Sarah's past was horrific, she had been through things no human ever should, but she had moved on....hadn't she? Whilst we have met Sarah numerous time we really get to know her here, we get to hear her thought process, her fears, her memories, the tragedy that was her life and it will destroy you, bone deep devastation for her and the torture she survived but also an anger that people as depraved as her father and uncle still live in this world.
Owen and blue team finally appear to break through the fear that has frozen Sarah, and seeing Nat bloom and grow as she finally finds herself is beautiful. Will she finally trust Blue Team and give them the information they need to free her and allow her to bury Sarah? Doing so will mean baring her soul and may cost her the love and resoect she has just gained.
Owen has been fighting his attraction to Nat for months, but the more she blossoms, the more we see Nat rather than Sarah, the harder it is to resist her...until he can't. He has wounds, wounds he has allowed to fester, for years. But the more we see of Nat, the more we see Owen recover, can they heal each other and finally find....love?

Wow, Riley has done it again. First off, let's hear it for the Blue Team! We have been anxiously awaiting them after briefly meeting some of them in other series. And, hold on, Zane is back, and he's acting all Zane-like driving his guys crazy and stupefying women with his dimples. He is an iconic character, and every book is extra when Zane is in the house.

Natasha is a shell of a woman. What she's endured at the hands of her family is a whole new level of abuse. But the Blue Team has now rescued her, and she's trying to move on. The dynamic between Natasha and Owen is not your typical Riley. This time we are dealing with people who have to heal and let go of guilt. Usually, Riley's characters have an immediate attraction and fall in love. Although you know Owen and Natasha care for one another, they have a long road to happiness. This dynamic makes the novel tenser than expected and really has you rooting for them---they so deserve this.

All of these elements combined with nasty guys (who get what's coming to them), members of the Red Team, Gold Team, and HOLY SMOKES, lots of characters from Susan Stoker's books!! It was AWESOME! For Riley Edwards fans, this kick-off of her new series is like opening day ceremonies of the Olympics -- it was THAT BIG! I cannot wait for the next one!

All of this doesn’t however take away from the underlying love story that is Owen and Natasha. Riley Edwards knows how to write angsty, broken, dangerous characters that even though you know there MUST be a HEA, you are still so nervous throughout the book that they won’t actually get there. Natasha’s development as a character (and person) is terrifyingly brutal and honest. Her fear is so real it leaches off the pages. As does Owens love for her. Even though he spends a good amount of the book harping back to his divorce before Gabe kicks him in the proverbial, his actions, thoughts and conversations that pertain to Natasha are so beautifully written it makes this a truly emotional book. However that isn’t to say there isn’t humour, the blue team are just as happy to act like little boys as the other teams and their personalities shine off the pages. A fantastic read I’m looking forward to reading it again when Gabe is due!!

Owen and Natasha

This was a great start to the Blue Team series. Owen and Natasha were featured in both Maximus and Declan in the Gold series but it was great to see the relationship between the men of Blue Team. Kevin, Gabe and Myles were all introduced in this book and even though it centered around Owen and Natasha, the other men brought a lot to the story.

Owen and Natasha’s relationship was definitely a slow burn. They were both attracted to each other pretty instantly but because of Natasha’s silence Owen held himself back. He had been burned before and didn’t trust his feelings. Natasha had a tragic childhood that left her no choices in the things she was forced to do, so when she’s saved by Owen she doesn’t know how to react.

When Natasha’s uncle sends a threat, the Blue Team takes her on the run and Natasha and Owen are forced together. Owen and the team help Natasha heal from her past and allow her to be expressive and open with them without consequence. And in return Natasha shows Owen that not all women are like his ex.

Everything about this book was slow to start. And because it was the first book in a series that was to be expected. The reader needed to be invested in the characters before the heat and intensity was turned up, and it was definitely hot and intense. There was romance, suspense, protection, and a few laughs. It was a great read and I can’t wait to see where this series goes.

The Audible version of Owen was something else. The narrator‘s were incredible, you felt like you were right there with them! They were able to have you see it all in your mind, which is an incredible gift!

A Owen a man burned by a past love and bore the brunt of his believed failure like a shield! Natasha whom was brought up in the purest of evil, but somehow maintained her goodness and soft nature. The spoken word on each page was absolutely incredible… the story was filled with such powerful emotions not just from the Owen and Natasha but by Owens own team! The words spoken between each of those men was spellbinding and you were completely compelled and invested right up until the end!! It such an element of brutal honesty. They would support each other until the end!
Riley was outstanding in bringing this story to life… a story of life’s cruellest of issues, a story that weaved into incredible human strength and courage but also contained humour, laughter and the blessings that friendships and freedom can bring.

You want this team at your back, you want the women to surround you.
But most of all it shows that being honest and good will always come though… it might take time and you have to did deep to fight your fears but it good always outweigh evil!

I seriously can’t not wait for the rest of blue team to come to audible!

What a great start to a new series. You get Owen who's been harboring Natasha for almost a year when they rescued her from a bad situation. She doesn't speak, doesn't even try, she shuts down all the time, afraid to be seen. This story is of the awakening of Natasha. "Life's not fair. There are no guarantees. No promises. Nothing is owed to you." She wore a crown of thorns, and Owen should stay away from her. Again, with any of these stories, the inside dialogue that the main characters have with themselves is highly amusing, example, "what was I, thirteen?" Then there is the kitchen discussion with Kevin and meat, including Dr. Seuss, then "Houston, we have a problem." Loved seeing all the other characters as well from the other teams and also old favourites. Zane is his usual self as always. It was wonderful to see Natasha coming out of her shell in front of all of the Blue team, not just Owen. You get the deep connection between Owen and Natasha, "you can trust I'll give you everything you need." "Take it and trust me to protect it." When the suspense ramps up it's game on for the Blue team and they deliver in spades. So does this book.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Since I started reading Riley Edwards’ books the one thing that always stands out, is her way to capture your attention from the get go. And this book was no different.
The start of the book has you on edge and I must say I was ruined and could not read another book since I read the teaser she send us in the mail. I wanted to know what was going on with “Natasha” and Owen so much I found myself thinking about them during the day and checking my email regularly to see if the ARC was out yet. Well done!!!!

Natasha (Sarah) has a bad past. Well bad is putting it lightly, and Owen had a bad experience with a bitch of an ex.... I know someone like that, only he is male not female... I digress.

Owen and Nat will have you on the edge of your seat not able to want to stop reading. Nat is witty and funny and I love the way she opens up and finds out who she is. Owen is a sweet alpha who has the biggest heart without knowing it and their story is not to be missed.

I don’t want to give away to much because you must find out for yourself. Oh and I love Gabe....

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Riley Edwards stories just keep getting better and better! Owen is a great beginning to the Blue Team series. He and Natasha were side characters in the Gold Team series books (Maximus and Declan). Ever since I finished that series I have been looking forward to their story. Natasha has been living with Owen since her rescue from a human trafficker. She has been silent about her past and Owen hasn't been pushing her to reveal more than she is ready to. Well now it has all come out. She is the daughter of a deceased Chicago organized crime family leader and her uncle has tracked her down, wants her back and will stop at nothing if she doesn't comply. There is no way Owen is going to allow any harm to come to Nat no matter what he has to do. Owen and Nat's story has it all! Action, angst, humor, tears, lust and ultimately love. Their story stands alone but if you haven't read the Gold Team series it shouldn't be missed if you are a fan of military romantic suspense as much as I am. As with all the books in the series, Owen was told from dual POV and will set the pages of your ereader on fire!

A brand new Special Forces team series to love, and this one started with a bang! While you don’t necessarily need to read any of the previous team’s books...because the author does a great job of catching you up on vital information, I’m glad I had read Declan’s book first, for my own purposes.
This story has a slow burn, mostly because Owen can’t own up to his feelings for Natasha. It’s definitely not slow in regards to storyline or intensity. But between Nat’s silence and Owen’s denial, their heat burns emotionally brighter way before it gets physical. If you’re new to Riley Edwards’ books, be aware that they have cursing, dirty-talking alpha males! And boy, are these books great!
It’s hard to pull bits of plot out without ruining the story, so read the blurb, but the book, then set some time to read it. Lots of time, because I doubt you’ll be able to put it down. I definitely could not!
Longtime fans will enjoy seeing characters from not only this author’s story, but that of Susan Stoker, who started and inspired the Special Forces:Operation Alpha series. And go read her books, too, if you haven’t yet. I can’t get enough!

I am so excited with to get to know the Z Corps crew! I loved Natasha and he need to be more even if her family has put her through the worst things possible. She’s a good person who’s life was harder than one would want it to be but it didn’t break who she was. There were so many things that she was taught being in her family and many things witnessed that destroyed her. The became someone that she wasn’t but still she was She had to learn how worthy and relevant she was.

Owen had was stuck in the past; a past that was destroying his present and future. He didn’t trust but the feelings he had for Natasha and her quirkiness has taken over his mind. The idea of anyone touching her, teaching her anything or basically taking her attention away from him can’t be tolerated. The time getting to know each other and allowing their feelings to happen was hard but both of them taught each other something that speared the relationship along.

Sebastian York and Janine Granda were the perfect duo to take on this story! I loved how these characters came to life with each spoken word!
