Fighting for my life isn’t anything new.It feels like I’ve been dodging bullets for as long as I’ve been breathing.Sometimes, they strike. While I’m no stranger to blood and pain, things have gone too far now.Choices have been made.Lines have been crossed and new ones drawn.Ones no one could have anticipated.Love was never meant to be part of the equation. But now, it isn’t just me and my own pride I need to defend. We all have targets on our backs. And with friends becoming enemies…There isn’t anyone left to trust in this city.Soon, Chicago will burn.I just hope I can survive the inferno.***Defending Pride is the eleventh book in The Deadliest Sin Series about organized crime in Chicago. This series is best read in order, as the stories are chronological and each sin builds on the events of the previous one.***
Gwyn McNamee delivers another pulse-pounding installment in The Deadliest Sin series with Defending Pride. The stakes are higher than ever as the protagonist fights for survival in a city where betrayal lurks around every corner. With enemies closing in, lines are blurred between allies and foes, and love becomes an unexpected complication in a world built on violence and deception.
McNamee masterfully crafts a gripping narrative filled with tension, action, and emotional depth. The raw intensity of the story keeps readers on edge, while the protagonist’s struggle to protect both pride and heart adds a compelling layer of vulnerability. As Chicago teeters on the edge of chaos, Defending Pride proves to be an electrifying, fast-paced read that fans of dark romance and crime thrillers won’t want to miss.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) – A heart-racing, action-packed thriller that will leave you breathless!
Defending Pride will have you biting your nails the whole way through the book! I loved the emotions that we get to see Rose have, the way he is worried sick about what has happened with Kat. Then the tension that is building between Rose and his brother is going to blow up in the near future and I can’t wait to see the results of it. I was really starting to like the concept of Rose and Kat together, but what she did, she may not be able to redeem herself. Everything just leaves you anxious to know what is going to happen next! I can’t wait for the next book in the Pride trilogy so that things will be explained.
Holy, insane action! Once again I was so caught up in the story that I didn't see the ending coming. Kat and Rose split up to ensure Kat gets away. The carnage she leaves behind and walks into is immense.
The tension mounts as Rose is thrown into a fight for his life, only to be saved by his brother...who is definitely up to something and I don't think it will be good for Rose.
Meanwhile Kat is fighting her own battle to save her son. Her rescuer demands a favour to be cashed in at a later date.
Sooooo good. Further and further into the lives of Kat and Rose. The next one should be amazing and I can't wait to read it.
Kat and Rose are back and what an intense ride they take us on. Defending Pride is the second book in the Pride trilogy and if you have been reading this series from the start then you know what I mean when I say Gwyn McNamee can write. I am loving The Deadliest Sin Series and after that cliffhanger ending, I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author to everyone looking for a page turning read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
We continue the story of Rose Cartel. This book goes more into the bros. How things came about. Kat makes her appearance as she goes to get her son. Who do you trust in this game of controling Chicago. Rose thinks he can trust and become one with Kat. Hmm Valentina and Cutter make an appearance as well as Preacher,. Hint if you've read Inland Seas Series you will know them. It left me on a cliffy. I need more. This series is so good
Oh. My. God!!! I've become so emotionally invested in Rose and Kat! What's happened to her? Rose is losing his mind trying to find out. Will brother help brother, or has he made a deal with the devil? This next book has been another insane roller coaster ride. I can't stop biting my nails! I've really come to love these two, especially after all the turmoil they've been through, and it's not over yet, but far. This is an absolute must read after, Pride, Book 10!
I swear I’m saying this with every book in this series/saga, but I want more more more!!! To leave it there? gah!!!!! What happens next????? I just want it now. But apparently I have to wait until the next installment is written. Kat and Rose are just, wow. Just as there are answers to previous questions, there’s more unanswered questions.
This was another wild ride! Rose gets out of the predicament that Pride left us with but the help he received could be worse than the escape. Kat, oh Kat, what are you doing? Again, this story left us with a doozy of a cliffhanger. I need answers!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Defending Pride is Book 11 in The Deadliest Sin Series. With every book in this series I think it can’t get any better, but oh my gosh Gwyn McNamee blows me away. This book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Believe me, you do not want to miss this one. I can’t wait until the next one comes out to see more of Kat and Rose.
Defending Pride is the second novella of the Pride Triology and the 11th novella of The Deadliest Sins Series by Gwyn McNamee. The ending of this novella was an absolute shock! Just when I thought things were getting sorted out - nope! I am very anxious to see what happens next in Commanding Pride!
Tears are freely flowing and I’m shaken to my core! Nothing and I mean NOTHING prepared me for this book! I always know to expect the unexpected but Gwyn took it to a whole new level and I do not know where things can go from here!
One more book left in the Pride trilogy and I now know to expect anything and everything! The fact that there are I think 4 more sins to cover I’m just sitting here biting my nails knowing that everything goes! Gwyn never ceases to amaze me but now she has me fearful for the characters that my dark heart has come to love! The characters intertwined in this series deserve no love yet that’s all I have for them! They have seen darkness and fight for survival by any means possible and that’s why I can’t get enough of this series!
If you love mystery, angst, crazy shoot outs and steam like no other then start this series! Start with book one Wrath and join this epic adventure!
Every time we think we know all the answers, we find out we really don’t, because we are now left with more questions. What a roller coaster ride we are taken on and I don’t want to get off. If you think you are ready for this book, you are not. Loving this series and need more stat!
Defending Pride is the second of The Deadliest Sin Series. We find out if Rose and Kat are alive. This book is full of suspense, action, and some heat. I can’t wait for the third book.
OMG! This story just keeps turning, and keeping me guessing. I should be used to this by now, but I thought I had this step figured out. I was WRONG! Rose and Kat are off the charts hot. I didn’t see this book ending this way. I can’t wait to see what comes next! I need this book right now!
I did not see this ending coming. So full on. I’m loving Rose more & more & really hope that Kat knows what she’s doing? Who’s knows what will happen in Commanding Pride - can’t wait to find out.
Defending Pride is the second novella in the Pride Trilogy of the Deadliest Sin Series (#11) by Gwyn McNamee. A series of novellas about five organized crime families, starting in Philadelphia - moving into Chicago and how the seven deadly sins consume their lives.
“Speaking those words out loud for the first time, letting her in on the greatest lie of all, has opened the floodgate of old pain and horrific memories.”
Rose shares a side of himself with Kat that no one else has ever seen and seeing Rose so emotional has definitely got me rooting for him. However, love was never supposed to be a part of the plan and when your heart is on fire – smoke gets in your eyes. Lines have been crossed and new ones have been drawn.. Kat might not be able to redeem herself this time.
“This partnership has been sealed in the blood we’ve shed for each other - both our own and of our shared enemies.”
Gwyn does a great job throughout The Deadliest Sin Series with plotting, character development, and pacing while continuously keeping us on our toes and begging for more.
