Trapped with a Vampire

Rate this book
Being shunned by vampires is one thing. Being eaten by them is another. Is rare shifter Jeremy about to be added to the menu? On his way to the Swiss Alps for a holiday, Jeremy spots a hot vampire who appears as if he’s devouring him with his eyes. He can't tell if the undead creature wants to bed or drink him. Marcel finds himself captivated by a beautiful young man about to board his train. Why is he so drawn to this mysterious passenger? Regardless, Marcel must discover who he is before his clanmates tear apart a potential mate.

Trapped with a Vampire is a steamy, mpreg short story with a sweet HEA. You can expect a cranky Alpha vampire, a flustered vegetarian shifter and a knotty good time.

Trapped with a Vampire is a very short and quick-paced fated mate's story between a Vampire and a fruit bat shifter. It was an okay read. However, it was much too fast, and the events happened at a breakneck speed for me to feel connected to the stories or characters. Even the spicy scenes felt rushed. Overall it was an okay read for a novella, but it also left me feeling unsatisfied and disconnected from the whole story.

Trapped With A Vampire
By M.M. Wilde

When Vampire Marcel and fruit bat shifter Jeremy meet on a train on their way to a holiday resort Marcel realizes they're fated mates.

This was a cute short story. Marcel is droolworthy and Jeremy is a shy and scared little sweetie. Good for a quick holiday book. Though I wish it had more holiday parts in it.

Jeremy is an American fruit bat shifter holidaying in Europe. Marcel is a French vampire on his way to a Swiss resort. When they meet on the Paris-Geneva train sparks fly and Marcel is convinced: they are fated mates. But Jeremy is terrified as vampires are his mortal enemies.

Normally I don't like fate mates stories because most authors are never able to create any chemistry and reply on the fated mates idea to make the romance work. It never does, not on it's own. That's why I liked this novella: Jeremy and Marcel are fated mates but there is chemistry and Jeremy is just such an adorable character.

MPREG is also something I don't like, thankfully here it just shows up in the epilogue (though it's mentioned before) and I was able to look past it and enjoy the story nonetheless. There were also a lot of inaccuracies regarding the Paris-Geneva train but I doubt it will bother anyone but me so I will spare you the details.

So yeah, I don't like shifters, I don't like MPREG, I don't like fated mates - but I really really liked this story. And vampires. There isn't enough vampire m/m romance out there (Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles don't count as romance) so I'm just over the moon the author wrote one. Would totally read more vampire stories by this author.

When I read the description of this I was really excited, a vampire fated mate romance? Yes please!! Marcel is an older vampire and he has been saving his emotions and connections to share with his fated mate. And he found him on a train platform, then his mate ended up boarding the same train as him.

Jeremy is a fruit bat who's going to France for a vacation. He has no other family aside from his sister, who lives in Hawaii. He's not an island person. When he sees a vampire boarding the same train he is, he's terrified. For centuries he's been told that vampires kill fruit bats so he tries to keep his distance. However that doesn't work that well for him.

I enjoyed this story, Sven was a great side character to break up the gruff demeanor of Marcel. I have never read a book that has a fruit bat in it, I found that really interesting. I wish we would've gotten a scene of Jeremy being in his shifted form, that would've been awesome.
The relationship between these two felt a bit rushed and forced but it was still a good read.

Overall a quick, short novella.

Disappointedly rushed and over done tropes

I almost never give anything less than a 3* star review but in this instance I could barely manage a 2*.

For starters, the MC's are about as flat and two-dimensional as a blank piece of paper. There's no background, per say, and nothing memorable at all about either of them. Marcel is a stuck-in-the-past vampire, who hasn't quite acclimated to the modern age, despite having lived through its beginnings. Jeremy goes from timid, scaredy cat shifter to wanton sex fiend - despite having been a virgin when he meets Marcel. The whole "vampires hate his type of shifter" is never really given enough history or credence so it comes off as pretty ridiculous. The secondary characters are just as flat and actually border on just plain ludicrous. The storyline is unimaginative and boring and everything is rushed from first meeting to mated to pregnant. In fact, the whole "mating" scenario was over-the-top and cringe worthy.
Honestly, if this hadn't been so short, I probably would have DNF'd it. As it is, I'm glad it wasn't a longer waste of my time. 😕

I loved this book. It was such a sweet read. I loved the pairing between vampire Marcel and shifter Jeremy. I love what kind of shifter he was- a new one for me- and very fitting (and one I won't spoil). I would have loved that worked into the story more. I thought the two of them were so sweet together. Marcel was immediately drawn to Jeremy at first sight and knew he was his mate. Jeremy, while afraid thinking the vampire(s) would kill and eat him, was very drawn to Marcel. But while it was instant for Marcel, Jeremy needing some wooing. I especially enjoyed some of the dialogue in this story; it made me smile.

“Oops. My bad.” He winced. “I’ll make it up to you. I’ll be your official glamour servant the whole trip. I’ll get you all your meals, you won’t have to lift a fang.”

Jeremy narrowed his eyes at Marcel. “I thought your kind never drank…wine.”

I also liked Sven, and even Laurent. Seeing the ways of the vampire society was interesting as well. A very fun read. This was the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. 5 stars.

This is a great book to read! IT could also be a fated mates book. Marcel is traveling with his coven on a train that gets stopped because there is snow covering the tracks. Marcel is a vampire and has lived for a long time. Marcel is not looking for a mate at this time. Jeremy is a fruit bat omega and is traveling in France. Jeremy notices the vampire just before he gets on the train. Jeremy has studied and will look for a job after he takes a vacation and enjoys the snow. Marcel joins Jeremy at dinner in the dining car. When there is a sudden stopping of the train. Jeremy is not sure he wants to spend time with Marcel because he was told that the vampires kill the fruit bats. Will Jeremy willing mate with Marcel???? Will Jeremy get to have the life he hopes for?????.

*slight spoiler*

Quick story about Marcel, a centuries old vampire who, while vacationing with his clan, discovers his fated mate, Jeremy.

During the train ride Marcel informs Jeremy they are mates, while it takes very little time for Jeremy to accept this information, Marcel must protect him from his clan until Jeremy allows Marcel to claim him.

The writing is decent but not outstanding (keep in mind that this is also my first book from this author and it IS a novella). The author did a decent job of getting the reader familiar with Marcel and Jeremy n such a short time but, I still wonder how Jeremy dealt with his sister and whether or not he ever introduced Marcel and the kids to her.

The description of the book threw me off thinking that something bad was going to happen, but that is definitely not the case here.

Marcel first spots Jeremy before boarding the train and is drawn to him. Jeremy realizes that Marcel is a vampire and doesn't want to be his next meal so he is terrified up until they truly come face to face.

There is a tiny smidge of angst due to misconceptions about bat/vampire history but that is quickly resolved.

The chemistry these two have is smoking hot! I'm definitely glad there was biting involved because the vampire stories I've read lately haven't shown this.

Um no thanks

This was just... Not my thing. I love mpreg and ABO/ alpha/omega books, especially with a supernatural flair, but unfortunately the premise was far more enticing than the actual story or characters. Fair warning, I didn't finish. I got to about 50% when the MC vampire said that "forcing" his mate would have only been "a last resort" to "save him" and I threw up in my mouth a little and decided I was done. Before that, I was hoping if I kept reading it would improve from the weird icky vibes I was getting, but once I read that, I was out. I think this just hit too many no thanks buttons with me.

Don't let the title fool you this was a sweet and fluffy read.

QUICK THOUGHTS

** Quick and easy read
** Paranormal
** Forced Proximity/Avalanche
** Vampire/Fruit bat shifter pairing
** Age difference (12 human years + a couple of centuries for Marcel)
** Fated mates
** Instant attraction
** Mpreg
** A lot of sex but not all on page
** Sweet
** Made me chuckle
** No real angst
** Likeable MCs... Marcel & Jeremy
** Rushed, too short
** Satisfying enough ending

This was a short, quick read that had some great elements.
It was about a vampire and fruitbat shifter, who are fated mates.
Some of it worked for me while some of it didn't. I enjoy the idea, but there was no shifting or much indicating that this was a world capable, even the vampires were tame in terms of "gifts"
The heat was nice.
The chemistry was off for me, and some of the outcome wasn't what I expected, but it was meant to be a novella.

Jeremy is very sweet, highly emotional fruit bat who is going on a vacation before trying to figure out his life. Marcel is a bit standoffish, almost cold, but it's not surprising since he's a vampire from the Victorian era.
This short story had so much potential but fell flat. There wasn't enough connection between the MC's - other than sexually. Jeremy went from terrified to acceptance in the blink of an eye. This is mostly a sweet, fluffy story that feels like parts are missing. You get the bare bones and that's it.

Intense! Jeremy is on his way to vacation at a ski resort, when he crosses eyes with a mesmerizing vampire. Marcel, is drawn to the man boarding the train. Jeremy is afraid while drawn to the vampire and tries to hide. When Marcel finds him, the unexpected happens. Does Jeremy let his fear blind him? Can Marcel get Jeremy to listen? Is Jeremy safe from the other vampires? Can Marcel save Jeremy? Good story, too short but the intensity makes up for length. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

When Jeremy was getting on the train to a resort in the Swiss alps his eyes noticed Marcel and knew what he was. The vampires and fruit bats didn’t get along plus he was afraid of vampires because of that. Marcel knew that Jeremy was his fated and when Jeremy went into his first heat he also realized that. Good book!.

what is he

I will be careful wording review by not giving away what kind of shifter one the main characters is but I will say his animal is adorable 🥰. This was a lovely story about an older but not too old vamp finding his fated mate in a very unexpected shifter. He has to overcome his mates fear of vamps and deal with his peoples dislike of his mates species but they do it together and they make a sexy couple. Well written but pretty short would’ve loved a longer story.

Marcel has been saving his love and hope for his fated mate and when he finds him, Jeremy is not what he expected. But he wants him and takes the time to help Jeremy see that they are meant to be. He works to overcome the obstacles from both Jeremy and his folks who are concerned about them being together. This was a cute short story.

A fruit bat and a vampire become mates. French vampire, Marcel, can't seem to shake thoughts of Jeremy. He's more than captivated. Feeling the need to protect him From his clanmates.

What happens on the way to becoming mates? A few unexpected twist, but a good HEA.

I wish this story were a bit longer. Just to pull on the main characters a little mode. Otherwise, it was cute.

Not a favorite… and I love me a good fated mate story… and there’s vampires! But no this didn’t do it. Marcel was not the typical vamp and I think that threw me off. The word Alpha is thrown around but he exhibits no alpha qualities when it comes to the supernatural. Quite frankly, he was soft. Which isn’t always bad but in this sense it just didn’t fit the alpha role. I think if that small piece of information would have been left out I wouldn’t have had expectations.

Besides being a little different in the writing, I felt there were parts missing from the storyline. As if there were parts of the chapters that could have been developed more rather than cutting the chapter short. One minute Jeremy is scared for his life and the next he is willing to be changed without much cause for concern.

A fast paced, quick paranormal read. This is a new author for me and I am looking forward to read more from them. The story will hold your attention to see what happens next. I would have liked for it to be a bit more in depth and back stories on the characters.

It was a cute love at first sight for Marcel the vampire but it look longer for Jeremy the shifter to believe in it. The conversation between the two had its funny moments. I was surprised to find out what kind of shifter Jeremy was. Nice little read.

Quick Fated Mates

This is a quick fated mates story. I didn't connect entirely with the story and it felt a bit rushed through IMO. It still wasn't bad for a quick read.

Great story

I really enjoyed this story. This is a really cute, short romance about a vampire and a shifter that are fated mates. It was very fast paced but it didn’t feel like it. It was very well written and easy to read.

LOVE IT!!!❤️❤️❤️

This is different from other vampire stories I’ve read and I love the differences! I won’t say too much cause I don’t want to ruin it for anyone so I’ll just say that Marcel and Jeremy’s story is definitely worth reading!

A different and unexpected story.

This was completely different than what I was expecting. Some parts did bother me but it was different. Jeremy and Marcel didn't expect to be fated mates or Jeremy didn't and was still shocked. They do work things out.
