For Sorilla Aida, the war has been ongoing. Peace was called, officially, but in the shadows her battles continued. The Alliance and SOLCOM are ready to call an end to it all now, but no one has yet been able to tell her why. Why the fighting began, why her allies, and enemies alike, died. Not even why it was over.
She had to know, or at least she had to try to find out. This would be her last mission, with or without SOLCOM's support, Sorilla was going to do the best she could to finally answer her questions.
Among Enemies is the last in the Hayden War series.
Achhhh. To było świetne!!! Najlepsza z serii, moim zdaniem. To. Byłoby. Ekstra.
Sierżant Sorilla Aida, miłej (i spokojnej) emerytury życzę, dziękuję za służbę i ciekawe misje. 🫡😁😁

The action develops slowly to begin with, but quickly becomes fast and furious, in fact it was verging on frantic towards the end. Interspersed with the action there is quite a lot of explanation and re-capping of information, unfortunately much of it has already been mentioned many times before. Sorillia has been one of my favourite SciFi heroines and I’m sorry to see this series end. I wasn’t that pleased with the way the author didn’t tie up all the loose ends, but at least he resisted the temptation for an over dramatic ending. If possible I would have given 3.5 stars.
There was one slightly annoying issue with the formatting in my Kindle version. During the last few chapters there is an increase in the left margin, which takes up half the screen.
A fantastic entry in the series. It's clear from how it ends (and from statements the Evan Currie has made) that there will be more in this universe so let's call it an end of "cycle" book not an and of series.
On Silver Wings started with one of my favorite action sequences of all time, and it is fitting that this one ends with a similarly amazing action sequence. A slow build sets the stage with some good thought solid character work, so that when the beat drops and things really cook off you're left wondering how a certain conflict can be resolved without some favorite characters being reduced to rubble. We get to learn a bit more about what makes the bad guys do what they do, as one of the most strange kinds of aliens ever introduced get some attention. The ending battle sequence just continues to escalate and then holds a tone of pure mayhem for longer than seems possible.
Poprzednie części sagi autorstwa Evana Currie dość dosadnie pokazały, że potrafi on kreślić dobre widowiskowe sci-fi.
I cannot, with a good conscience, recommend this novel to anyone. The first 8 novels in this series were excellent, however, the author's decision to pound away with his political views in this finale, unlike in the prior 8 novels, seriously ruins what had been an excellent series. Emasculating John Wayne by describing Sorilla's antics as "Joan Wayne?" Seriously?? Would it be to okay for a man to describe himself acting like Amelia Earhart as "Arnold Earhardt"-like? No?? Then don't be hypocritical and go so overboard with that particular currently popular PC thing. Why not actually find an actual woman who was a risk taker as an example and if you can't do that - no one SHOULD be offended by using John frigging Wayne as an example without changing his name. Then there is the editing. The editing is so bad this looks like a self-published self-edited first novel. It looks like someone ran spell-checker, auto corrected whatever words spell-checker said to auto correct, and never bothered re-reading all of the words that were changed. So wrong words, misspelled words, missing words, pretty much on every other page of the Kindle version. Whomever this editor was/is doesn't deserve to be paid.
Beyond all that when it's actually telling the story of what's happening with Sorilla, Kriss, the Ross, and on Hayden's world, it's a good story. But all of that has been less than 20% of the 51% currently read. Only going to finish this, despite the poorly edited and ham-fisted political overtones, just because I want to see how the series ends. If you don't care how the series ends and liked the way it ended in Book 8, leave this alone so you will not be as disappointed as me.
Strongly suspect this will be the last of this author's novels I read, because his prior release in a different series was the same way with the hammering of his political views and extremely poor editing which led me to quit reading that one.
If you can overlook all the grammar problems, one-line paragraphs and overuse of adverbs, it's a really good book. That being said, the main character, Sorilla, is a favorite one of mine and in spite of the problems I just mentioned, it's a rousing good space romp and it keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. The author said this will be the last book with this character and I'm sad about that. Hopefully, there'll be more books in the series as the ending was a bit disappointing if there are to be no more books to deal with what Sorilla uncovered about the enemy. I do recommend the book but sure hope the author fixes all the grammar problems and lightens up on his use of adverbs.
I really wish I could give this five stars. If this gets a real edit it probably would earn it. Many typos and errors to the point that it started to distract from the over-arching story.
I was introduced to Evan Curie many years ago with the start of the "Silver Wings" series. This was before it even came to be called the "Hayden War Cycle". I am glad that Currie took the time to give this series an ending. I don't know if it is 'THE' ending, but it is an ending. I would like to think that Sorilla has finally done enough. The pacing of the core story is break-neck, I am glad the Currie took time for vignettes from the home front just to give a poor reader a break. Once it gets edited, Five Stars.
This is a tough book/series to rate. The lack of polish is really frustrating. I can handle s few spelling errors and wrong words in sentences, but there are far too many. The worse and most glaring is that the name of one of the main characters keeps switching between books (i.e. Kris and Kriss). Currie needs a better Beta reader! There is also a little cheese and some really ridiculous fights Sorilla survives in this last book, but most military science fiction has a bit of that. All that said, Currie's "ridiculous" and the whole Alliance alien culture is extremely entertaining. Sorilla a fantastic heroine. Her adventures make really good reading and I found the ending of the series satisfying.
Evan Currie's series is a great read. The plot, intrigue and character development is good. Action is fast moving and captivating. The series captivating; however, it became evident that the author became complacent with the series or enamored with a new venue or was under severe time constraints. The last three books suffered from a lack of focus, the choice of words or sentence structure made it hard to follow. It became obvious that the author or the publisher did not employ a proof reader! Many of the individual words were not spelled checked or were incorrectly typed. Regardless, this series of books captivated this reader and I would wholeheartedly recommend this series to all.
Sorry, Evan. The Sorilla Aida storyline is one of my favorites, but this book felt rushed and suffers from some very poor editing (at least in the Kindle version).
If this is truly the end, it's a pity. There add some great action moments and Sorilla is as awesome as ever, but like I say above, it feels like a rush to give our hero superpowers (essentially) but then take the denouement into a headlong rush to... Just. Be. Done.
I don't want to go too deep here due to spoilers, but this is an unsatisfying book for someone who has stuck with this character through every book.
I've been skipping on my beauty sleep to read the series, it's pretty fun, but it's got its issues Really needs a proof - reader/editor, the recent books in Silver Wings somehow seem to have more typos, weird autocorrect words and inverted meanings like will/won't, would/wouldn't The ending was somewhat disappointing too, felt rushed and lacks closure. While i think Sorilla really needs her retirement, she could have been visited by her alliance friends (?) I really hope we get to learn more about this grand conspiracy of the Ross, as well as their history and relation to the Enemy, or the portal ships themselves

Sorilla, Kriss, and Seinel are so good together. Kriss and the Luciens were quite funny and entertaining. Sorilla and Kriss are the perfect violent and chaotic match. The type of action scenes I fell in love with from the earlier books have finally reappeared. The only thing stopping me from giving this book 5 stars is the grammar. There are plenty of typos and odd sentences, but the plot and action and top tier. Sorilla seemed almost godlike in this book, but it only added to her character. I like how, even when defying the SOLCOM, she always prioritized them, letting their cause fuel her motivation. However, I really wish we got to see Sorilla, Kriss, and Seinel reunite after the whole debacle. I got excited during the epilogue, thinking they would be part of the Alliance ambassadors visiting Hayden, but that sadly didn't happen.
Sorrila Aida is my hero. This is my favorite of all her adventures, cause she was kicking butt and taking names all over he way through. And we learned more about the Ross as well. This better not be the last book, because I really need to know what happened to Sienele and Kriss, too. A great adventure, which I would have given 5 stars, except for the occasional typo. Results: I highly recommend this one. The Sorrila from the first few books is back.
Great book and love Sorrilla. She is one of my favorite character of all time.
Ive been waiting on this book FOREVER!!!! The only reason the book got 4 and not 5 stars is that I felt it was a little long winded. Other than that.... MAN!!! Sorrilla is whooping a$$ and taking names.... then disposing of those names! Great plot that has been well aligned along the previous books. Pieces falling into place and the plot thickens like gumbo left on the stove too long. Must read.
Unfortunately the end of Sorillas adventures are rushed, carelessly written and it left a boatload of loose ends left unanswered.
The signs were there early on with the writers many spelling and grammatical errors, but I never thought the author would abandon his heroine this way...
Loved the series before this... way better than the other works from the same author... but I guess I've read my last book from Evan Currie.
This was the first series of his I got into and I can’t believe how good it turned out. He spares us the long winded ethical treatises so many authors love and manages to balance character development, dialogue, action both small and large scale, and several complex plot lines effortlessly. This better not be the end or I’m sending some Lucians after mr Curry!
What can you say but this is a fitting finale to the Hayden War story. Evan’s most complete and greatest heroine romps through the Ross and finally gets home with her duty fully met. It’s a great adventure that’s gripping and enjoyable. Read.
Great to see Sorrilla back at it. Everyone saying this is the end of this series, but is it? Plenty of open ended questions remain. I think I speak for all of us when I say please continue!
Spoilers questions to be answered:
What happened to Kris? What is Ross master plan? Why does Sorilla still have armor hidden and ship?

Continuing investigation unofficially with Alliance team we get a lot of on hands action and some spy craft. Feels like early parts of series when Sorilla needs to rely on herself and her kit. Marked as last in Hayden cycle, but leaves some mysteries and huge alien Alliance universe that could be expanded.
So disappointed that this is the last book in the series. Sorilla is a great character and I really enjoyed her interaction with other characters, especially Kriss. This book provides a decent ending to the story though it seemed to drag on a bit through the middle and then wrap up very quickly at the end. On the whole though, a very enjoyable series and I really wish it wasn’t the end.
I have read quite a few of Evan Currie's books now and hands down, without exception Sorilla was my favorite character. The added insight into the Ros was great and the dialog made me laugh out loud several times. I hope there is at least one more book that includes the Sturm. There is just so much potential in this universe!

This has been a great series; I burned through this last book quickly because the action was so fast and furious. Hate to see this one end, but it was a decent ending and, I expect this will eventually flow into another story arc. Nicely done; if you like lots of action and decent science in your science fiction, this may be a great series for you. It was for me. I'm already missing it.
Don't let the obnoxious amount of typos or lazy to non-existent proof reading and editing fool you, this is every bit the thrill fest.of any other On Silver Wings book. We see more of what's behind the curtain and enough new tidbits on the Ross to prime the pump for future visits to this universe and I do hope we get those visits.
The end of the Hayden saga? Well, I suppose Curie wouldn't lie to us, and it does come to a good place to stop...for now at least. Unlike a lot of books that have to tie ends up, Among Enemies doesn't just check off boxes, but delivers all the action and intrigue the series has brought us before. Great work by one of the best in the field.
Incredible action, ingenious escapes. Amazing that both camaradarie and enemity can be built between the disparate alien races. As fierce as Sorilla is, she is also loyal and able to respect others. Maybe that's the coin that can rebuild the Alliance into a true alliance.
Amazing book. Stunning. The most incredible Scifi series I've ever read. Take for example his description of a portal, written with more detail and description than other authors or movies attempt. Highly recommend.
Great story line that continues the interesting and complex Sorilla storyline. Editing is a bit choppy but not too distracting, the mind-bending science and twists and turns easily overcome it.
I enjoyed this with its familiar characters, lots of action and sometimes complex sometimes confusing science. A finish of sorts but room for more I think.
Like.the others before thisone, once the action starts, it never stops. Some interesting sci-fi concepts here Ive not encountered before, but what do I know? A great series, but I've come to expect nothing less from this author.
