After five years of marriage, sacrifice, and hard work, Robert and Gia Hunter are about to live their dream in the city of Miami. With the opening of a new family law office, and a luxury jewelry store, what should be the happiest time of their lives quickly turns into a nightmare when they become targets of someone for reasons unknown.
To make matters worse, their marriage is tested when the two face fundamental disagreements on how Gia should handle a request from her imprisoned father.
While dangers confront the two from the outside, and constant fights plague them on the inside, will Gia and Rob unite and conquer the forces that threaten, or will their differences destroy them forever…

Fighting for His Subject by Rebecca Rohman is the follow up novella to Falling for His Subject (formerly titled Translating the Tides). You'll love the follow up to Rob and Gia's story. It's packed with suspense, steamy scenes, and sweet moments too! As with all of Rebecca's books you're in for an amazing roller coaster of a story. The story is well written, very enjoyable, and has a unique story line. One thing I love about Rebecca's stories is that she does such a great job with the details and descriptions that it's like going on an adventure to wherever the story takes place.
Fighting For His Subject is one of the most emotional reads I have experienced in awhile. Probably one of the most beautifully written stories I have come across. Absolutely perfect! I love it so much. Gia and Rob are still, by far, my favorite cuouple that this author has introduced us to. And Momma is also another of my favorite characters. She's an amazing woman! So kind, strong and she has no problem being tactfully blunt with you. Momma holds a special place in my heart for sure. The emotions run real deep in this one with good reason. It could just be me but a lot of the emotions felt in this book feel as though they come from a very real life place. It's not hard to empathize with the charaters or their situations. I enjoyed the level of suspense this storyline provides. I don't want to give anything away so I will just say you have to read this to understand why I am so in love with this book. I very highly recommend purchasing and reading Fighting For His Subject immediately! You won't regret doing so.

Robert and Gia Hunter have worked hard in their five year marriage and have finally reached where they want to be. Ex FBI Robert has opened his family law office and Brazilian Gia has opened her high class designer jewellery store. Everything was wonderful......until it wasn't. A letter from Gia's imprisoned father caused a rift between them that ran deep and caused anger for Robert and heartache for Gia. Their differences are put to the test when Gia's life is in danger, incidents happen at an alarming rate and it soon becomes clear that Gia has something the perpetrators want. Why is Gia being followed ? Who is behind the attacks ? Could her father be involved ? This is a beautifully written, action packed story with a roller coater of emotions, numerous suspects and lovely characters but most of all a beautiful romance. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary
This story has action, suspense and meaningful messages. Gia and Rob have been through a lot and it seems that there are still trials that they must endure before they can have their happily ever after. Rebecca Rohman adds incredible detail and emotion into her stories and this is no exception. Conflict arises when Gia wants to forgive someone who wronged her. Understandably, Rob is not happy with this decision. But I was immediately on Gia's side. Her decision is focused on her and not that person. It is a way to gain closure and leave that phase of her life. This takes incredible strength on her part and I admire her for this trait. It takes Rob some time to understand Gia's point of view but I think this also gives him some closure and peace. This idea of forgiving is a great message. It isn't always easy but it can help let go of pain and hatred in order to let in other more positive things. While dealing with these personal feelings, Gia and Rob must also contend with forces that seem intent on bringing fear and danger into their lives. As it turns out, these forces are purely focused on personal gain. There are surprises along the way as well as tearful moments. Gia and Rob are wonderful characters that support and respect each other. I enjoyed reading this tale and going on this emotional and suspenseful journey once more with Gia and Rob.
Gia and Robert are back. It took me a little time to settle back into their continued story as it had been a while but it soon felt like being amongst old friends.
Gia and Robert's life is right on track when we re-join them. They are about to open physical locations of her jewellery making business and his law firm in the same building, whilst moving into their new home above their businesses. Everything is right on track...until Gia receives a phone call. It is an unwanted phone call from her past that potentially can destroy her happy present and future.
But this is not the only event threatening their happiness, as their businesses suffer a serious of break-ins and unfortunate events. Could the events be connected? Who wants to hurt them so badly?
Gia has a strength of character about her, which shines through in her dealing of the events that unfold. She maintains her values and beliefs despite the fact that it could drive a wedge in their relationship. Robert's handling of her wishes is very much based on the past: the anger and the fear that he might lose Gia. The events of this book really tested their relationship to the limits and their ability to communicate and support each other.
I loved the feel of Gia and Robert together and I found myself wanting to shake Robert to wake him up and listen, truly listen to what GIa was saying. The events kept this book interesting alongside the relationship struggles. It all added so much to the next stage of their relationship.
After all the craziness that Rob and Gia endured, we get to spend more time with them to see how life is working out 5 years later. I enjoyed being in the moment with them as they start up new businesses, move to a home and embrace life in a new community. At the same time, Gia’s father reaches out to her from prison which shakes their relationship. Navigating all the hurt he caused both of them is a challenge which lets us in to experience the ups and downs of married life. There is added drama with Gia’s jewelry store that gives a good mystery showing that the adventure of living will always keep you guessing. I love how this couple faces each issue, not perfectly but honestly and with love.
Rebecca's books are always great; lovely romance interspersed with suspense and intrigue. This book is filled with both, but also had familiar beloved characters that made it feel like coming home.
Gia and Rob are finally realizing their dreams of opening their own businesses. They have bought a house in Miami and renovated it to accommodate Rob's law office and Gia's jewlery store downstairs and living quarters upstairs. Their love for each other is so strong and this should be the best time in their lives.
However, news from Gia's father puts tension between the couple. Then there are break-ins. The difficult situations that Rob and Gia had to deal with were both heartbreaking and realistic enough to grab our feelings. The emotional ride was well worth the ending and Epilogue!
Fighting for His Subject is the follow up novella to Falling for His Subject which was formerly Translating the Tides. Although this is considered a novella, it’s actually quite long for one.
When I write reviews for Rebecca’s books I always say the same thing- more people need to read her books. They are really great! Like with her other books, Fighting for His Subject is packed with romance and suspense, with twists and turns. Robert and Gia’s story is also emotional and well written and hard to put down.
This follow up novella to Rob and Gia's story has suspense and emotions, with that continued connection between them. I enjoyed the shocks that the suspense brings to the story and how they each handle everything that is thrown at them. The characters are strong, the story flows with a lot of details at times.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What a read. This book is full of everything. It is beautifully written with highs and lows. When Rob and Gia Hunter up and move they do it for a better life. Gia wants to follow her dream and open a jewellery shop while Rob opens a law firm. This story will keep you in suspense that's for sure. When things start to happen the finger is pointed at the one person she has nothing to do with, her father. loved it from start to finish
Rob and Gia! Amazing couple with an unpenetratable love. This book has suspense, intrigue, love, loss and regret. It's well written and a 5 star must read!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "FIGHTING FOR HIS SUBJECT". I really liked this story it had everything mystery, intrigue, suspense, steam scenes, angst, emotional turmoil, you coundnt out it down until finished. Rob & Gia moved to have a better life he was former FBI opening his family law office & she was opening a high end designer jewelry store married 5yrs now everything seems to be going perfectly. Gia gets a letter from her father from prison causing a rift between her & Rob after that their put in danger from someone for a unknown reason they want something from her does this all have to do with her father is he to blame he's caused them so much hurt already. I definitely recommend to get this amazing book so well written with strong characters that pull you into all the chaos so well worth the read it won't disappoint will Gia & Robert survive all this no matter what they've been through so much you'll love their journey I know I did.
I love the way Rebecca Rohman gives me a glimpse at a couple years down the road from when I first met them. And this time it was Gia and Rob as they were starting a brand new chapter of their lives, or trying to anyway. If only the past would let them.
There was this intensity to depth of emotions I felt as everything seemed to hit Rob and Gia at once. There was drama and mystery and danger and all the swirling uncertainty that I honestly had no idea what was going to happen next. I was holding my breath when they discovered exactly what was happening and put their plan into motion.
I think my favorite thing about Fighting For His Subject, was that when push came to shove, Gia and Rob did the hard work. Instead of retreating into themselves and what they were feeling, they had the hard conversations, they took the time to get back to them and the future that they wanted for themselves.
I’ve never read the first book in the series, so I wasn’t familiar with Rob and Gia’s story. However, Fighting For His Subject is one of those stories that works good as a standalone. If gives enough information about the characters background so you understand their history as they deal with their present issues.
I’ve read plenty of Rohman’s books in the past, and she’s great about bringing the romance and suspense. I loved Rob and Gia’s relationship. He’s very protective of his wife, especially now since someone’s stalking them. Aside from dealing with a mystery person wrecking havoc on their lives, the couple find themselves arguing over Gia’s father. I won’t delve much into the dad’s history, but let’s say he’s a bad guy.
The book had me hooked from the beginning as I wondered if Rob and Gia would work through their issues, and who was out to get them. This is another great book from Rohman, and I’m always anxious to read more of her other works.
not sure why this story took me so long to read. I normally demolish Rebeccas writing. A few pieces of this amazingly written story hit close to home. Rebecca has done an amazing job getting the details down on the pages and making them come to life right before your eyes. Easy to follow along and read. Each page has something unique and untold like nothing before the mystery keeps me coming back along with the story and how its told. Must read!!!
