We got the Norwegian version. The translation isn't that great, some of the words don't actually rhyme, even though the spelling makes it look like it.
The story itself is alright, it shows an example of conflict resolution during play when no adults are around. My daughter is still too young for this, but maybe one day she'll relate to arguments popping up among her playmates. While personally I feel it's a bit silly to solve everything with hugs, toddler hugs are pretty cute. The book also tells you that you don't have to scream and stomp, to be kind and calm instead, so overall a nice moral to it.

The illustrations are adorable and colors are nice and bright and happy. I'm always a sucker for a good rhyme scheme in my picture books and this one made very clever use of some whimsical words like "huggles" and "dinosauruses" in order to keep the rhythm and meter. My favorite part: Hugasaurus asks each of her new friends before hugging, and there are lots of different kinds of hugs shared. This book would be perfect to read aloud for a story time!

دایناسور کوچک مهربانی که تا به حال در بغل پدرش بزرگ شده برای کشف دنیا و پیدا کردن دوست به جنگل میرود. با چند دایناسور کوچولوی دیگر دوست و مشغول بازی میشود. وقتی وسط بازی دایناسورها دعوایشان میشود او به یاد گرمای بغل پدر میفتد که همه مشکلات را حل میکند و با بغل کردن بقیه او هم گرمای محبت را به جمع دوستانه خود برمیگرداند. کتاب خوبی که در پایان تبدیل به موعظه و نصیحت میشود. داستانی تصویری دربارهٔ دوستی و مهربانی مناسب سنین بالای چهار سال.

A través de la historia de una pequeña dinosaurio que ha aprendido la importancia del abrazo, se invita a los más pequeños a reflexionar sobre cómo enfrentar los desacuerdos y las tensiones con empatía, comprensión y, sobre todo, cariño.
La protagonista, la pequeña abrazosaurio, se enfrenta a un dilema que probablemente muchos niños reconocen: sus amigos están discutiendo y peleando. A lo largo de la historia, ella intenta diferentes maneras de calmar a sus amigos y poner fin a las disputas.
Con un texto de frases cortas, vocabulario sencillo, ideas directas y una letra mecanizada, que a día de hoy se ha vuelto en el ámbito educativo muy recomendada por su adaptación naturalizada al medio, el cuento nos narra, a través del entrañable personaje de la abrazosaurio el modo en que los niños, en ocasiones, se encuentran ante dificultades por hallar una solución a los problemas de sus amigos, reflejando de manera sencilla, pero efectiva, lo que pueden experimentar cuando se sienten atrapados entre diferentes puntos de vista o cuando ven a sus amigos enojados.
Es maravillosa la forma en que la autora transmite la información, pues juega con las palabras al hacer uso constantemente de comparaciones, notas poéticas y rimas, que buscan que el niño se sienta admirado y desee acercarse más a la palabra escrita. Así mismo, resulta ideal para primeros lectores, pues el formato con el que está escrito combina palabras destacadas en mayúsculas y negrita con el resto del texto impreso.
La pluma de la autora es dulce y produce efecto arrullador, tales características aunadas a unas tiernas imágenes de tonos pastel, ambientes muy naturales, bucólicos y coloridos hacen que abrir el libro sea toda una delicia.
El color juega un importante papel a lo largo de la historia ya que expresa las emociones que la abrazosaurio esté sintiendo en ese momento.
Las ilustraciones de Chris Chatterton complementan perfectamente el tono de la historia. Con colores brillantes y personajes adorables, transmiten calidez y ternura, reforzando el mensaje central del libro. Cada página está cuidadosamente diseñada para captar la atención de los niños, invitándolos a sumergirse en un mundo donde las emociones se exploran con sensibilidad.

This is another book I read to my class at placement, it was thoroughly enjoyed by myself, the other staff and the children. It prompted some wonderful conversation about feelings and how we can manage our own feelings or help others manage theirs.
It is about a little dinosaur leaving their Dad for the first time to go and play with the other little dinosaurs. Soon, all the dinosaurs begin to struggle with turn taking and managing their feelings. It all becomes too overwhelming for Hugasaurus. After a conversation with an older dinosaur, they find a solution.
It is such a relatable story for children, especially in the Early Years. It might be the first time leaving their parents, coming into an environment where they might have to share or take turns for the first time. It talks about issues that the children could relate to and link own experiences too. It also talks about feelings of loneliness, being overwhelmed, sadness and nervousness as well as happiness and kindness. These are all emotions children will be feeling and will have to learn to manage. Due to it being relatable, the conversation prompted from the book, such as how we act in the playground or what we do if we begin to feel 'uncomfortable' feelings, can benefit the children's mental wellbeing.
I will leave you with the end phrase that particularly stuck with me. A beautiful ending to a wonderful little book.

This book had some bright, inviting illustrations. It had a great message about being kind (even if the message was a bit heavy-handed and not subtle at all). I think the rhyming was also decent, though a bit forced in a few places.
I can see kids really enjoying the book and being able to connect to it.

This book is a very sweet tale of love and friendship. This is a great story to read to younger children about different emotions.
