Finding out her husband of over twenty years isn’t the man she thought him to be has taken a toll on her mental health and stability. A fateful meeting with Chrissy Henderson takes him by surprise, but upon first sight, he knows that she’s the woman that will steal his heart. Despite a few bumps along the way, his vision hasn’t changed, but he can only hope that Chrissy’s hasn’t either.
Past hurts have done a number on Chrissy. She is guarded and constantly questions her life choices. Can LaKeith keep her from living in her head to focus on the present with him, or is she too far gone to be swayed?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
I could read about the Henderson family all day. They are crazy but the love is so strong. What Chrissy went through was rough and even though I cannot stand that WJ I understood his pain because he was filled with his own guilt. This was something that could have completely destroyed a family but their love and faith definitely made a difference. I loved Lakeith and his personality was refreshing. He was genuine so he naturally fit right in. Chrissy deserved happiness after all she endured. I felt bad for Avery because he was clearly broken and his parents failed him in a major way. It’s a sad reality that actually takes place in the real world. We have to always be careful who we allow in our lives and around our children, family or not. Really great story
Queen Monica has done it again with the Henderson crew.
Chrissy story was one for the books, like I thought Kenny had a story, but Lord have mercy. That dang ex-husband of hers was a nasty motherfudgesicklestix and his parents reminded me so much of my mom, sweeping shit under the rug like it'll make the situation go away, like the trauma will just disappear😡. When he some on the trauma he suffered my heart wept for him. He should've gotten help and they trifling ass should've been in jail too😒.
LaKeith 'ol fine sexy ass made me wanna eff him up for not walking away the moment he felt temptation getting the best of him. Ik that incident would cone back to night him in the ass, especially after he tag into her at the store. I'm glad him and Chrissy were able to with through that lil bump in the road.
Jenareah & WJ made me wanna eff them up every time the open there judgemental mouths to Chrissy. WJ would've got eff up brother or not ain't no walking away from that level of disrespect, period. I'm hoping we get to read about his story cause I really feel like there's more to him than being the oldest and feeling like he didn't receive the same attention as the others. Him & Jenareah remind me of my mom and how she us with her siblings and even my granny, hell me😒. Beefing nasty to everyone and blaming everyone for for short comings, It's everybody's fault but yours.
As always it was great catching up with the Henderson crew. One thing that I got from this story was the importance of therapy, self love and communication.
Seeeeeee, a true story teller! Monica, I’m tired, okay 🤣😂!? The fact that this story is reminiscent of you and your husband’s love romance is beyond beautiful 😍!
With that being said, I L O V E D LaKeith Douglas & Chrissy Henderson together!!!!! Chrissy definitely went through a rough/hard transition with her trifling ex-husband, her siblings, & even LaKeith at one point. However, the way she came out in T O P, BAYYYYBEEEEHHH I’m here for it! On a serious note, this story is how I feel so many families handle things when something so detrimental has happened & is found out about. Blame is placed on everyone accept the person responsible, & it tears families apart and some don’t know how to fix it.
LaKeith was a “silver fox 🦊” for sure 😂! Straight forward out the gate the man knew what he wanted & I loved him from the beginning.! The relationships that were mended & built throughout this book were indeed beautiful & made me enjoy this story that much more! You haven’t missed with these Henderson’s yet, now let me get into Jenahra’s story!
Ahhh..... Miss Monica! My heart will never be the same after this read! Chrissy went to hell and back after the unthinkable revelations about Avery, came to light! Her strong relationships with WJ and Jenahra, became shaky, while the bond with her younger siblings became airtight! I was so worried that this may drive her to the ultimate breaking point, with all that was happening around her! Glad that she worked on herself, by seeing a therapist. (Nice to see Serita doing well these days)! 😁 LaKeith just appeared out of nowhere, and stole her breath, as well as her heart! A good dude about his business, that has been looking for a woman to love for a long time. Meeting Chrissy was the answer to all of his prayers. He knew right away that she was the one. Although they moved quickly, it worked for them. They both needed each other. Syn! Vita needs to get her to see somebody pronto! I could not believe that trifling mess she did! Then she is besties with Janessa? I hope that does not become a problem! I loved how you dived into the inner workings of the relationships with Chrissy and her younger siblings. How they banded around her, supported and loved on her was so beautiful! Then you showed vulnerability with my baby Storm! Not big, bad Storm? Ohhhhh the tears! I'm glad that we got some deeper insight about WJ and Jenahra, and why they act the way they do! Still don't know if I will ever like them, (especially WJ) but it helps to understand them better. 😂 You never disappoint ma'am, but I must say I was drained after this one! Great job! 👍👍👍
I enjoyed this book. I put everything down when I saw the book came out. LaKeith and Chrissy I'm so happy with the way things turned out. As always Mrs. Walters it was an absolute pleasure reading this book.
This author NEVER EVER disappoints! She's always in her bag, especially when it's about the Henderson's! Sweet Chrissy had been through so much, that while Avery pill had to have been hard to swallow... But I'm so glad that she bounced back and picked up a good man along the way. Mr. 'Silver Fox' claimed Chrissy at first sight and didn't look back. He may have hit a bump in the road, but everyone was able to go back to love and happiness at the end. I love any story that involves the Henderson's and this book was as good as I knew it would be. Great read!
This book resonates with me. I, too was given a second chance at love! 🥰😍 Monica Walters engulfed many feelings and situations to draw you in as a reader. From the first chapter to the very last, her book kept me intrigued. I love her vision, through the characters eyes, of full-figured black woman. The way she vividly described her beauty and her struggles to paint a more realistic character spoke volumes. I could relate to Chrissy (main character) on various levels. I love the relationship between her and LaKeith, especially their lovemaking sessions. This is a must read for those that want a second time and for those that don't think they deserve one. This books has a little bit of everything. Get yourself some version of this book and curl up somewhere quiet to indulge.
Chrissy & LaKeith made me want to have my a/c go out in this 98degree Texas weather JUST for my own LaKeith to bring his sexy self to fix it!!
But I digress, this story centered around the 3rd Henderson child, one who had lost the very essence of who she was due to an overbearing older sibling and a husband who committed unspeakable acts against members of her family. This story is about her and LaKeith discovering not only themselves but love the second time around. The attraction was instant, but their spirits kissed and that was all she wrote. The story moved quickly and covered some pretty heavy topics all while still romancing the reader. This is one of my favorite collections out today. Great job!!
How can anyone not love The Hendersons. They're the close knit family that goes hard for each other and very welcoming to those they deem deserving to let in. Although we've gotten to see the crazy, funny side of this family, I liked that the author chose to go a different route to give us a story where the family is faced with trauma that not only affected Chrissy but everyone else close to her. I loved how Chrissy took the steps to get the healing she needed, build a better bonding experience with her siblings and along the way found a new love in Lakeith. He was the perfect mate for Chrissy to see that he was who she needed for a second chance at love.
The story was a lot to digest in one moment. We were warned the content would be very heavy. With that stated, it is also nice to read about mature couples finding love and living out their fantasies. I loved this silver fox, and his new honey. Tiff, Storm, Justin and the crew made an appearance to support their sister. Family love is a beast at times. Thank goodness for family in this instance.
I wondered about Chrissy Henderson since the fall of her marriage in Let Me Ride. Chrissy was broken and devastated after the horrible secrets her husband was hiding was revealed, but she refused to let it keep her down. Counseling and the love of family helped Chrissy find the strength to get her life and the life of her boys on a positive and road of healing. The instant attraction between Chrissy and Lakeith pulls you in from the beginning and keeps you engaged.
I love the Henderson family and am instantly ready for a new story after I finish one. This story touched on such a horrific crime the devastation that occurs within the family and the troubled long road to recovery for the family of both the perpetrator and the victims.
What a great read? It was a good ending to see all the closeness and the love.I was happy Chrissy finally got what she deserved. Only thing I just didn't see that point with Syn in the book. It could have Been left out.
Chrissy Henderson, has suffered heartbreak of the worst kind. But she’s slowly healing and trying to moving on with her life. Chrissy is beautiful, curvaceous and in need of feeling desirable by a man again. LaKeith Douglas, is everything a grown experienced man should be. He hasn’t been in a committed relationship in years but he’s ready to find love again. Did I mention he’s Fione?!?!? From their first meeting sparks are flying and flames are sure to ignite.
LaKeith and Chrissy are exactly what the other needs. But they will have to navigate a few obstacles to find love and happiness.
Better The Second Time Around, is a great story and I loved it. Kudos author Monica Walters.
OMG, this is my favorite book so far, and it's not just because of Chrissy and LaKeith. Soo glad I'm familiar with the author's past series that included Serita Taylor because that affords readers the ability to appreciate just how far Serita has come to be able to counsel others. Kudos for that Ms Walters (yes, I said kudos)! And Storm? Wow! And all the healings and forgiveness that took place, including Avery's? That did it for me. Overall, a great read IMO. There were WTHeck moments, LOL moments, and a few times that I wanted to shed a year. Now I anxiously await all future books from this author.
Chrissy is a beautiful restaurant owner who’s first marriage failed in a devastating way. It flipped her whole world and put her in a dark place. A divorced LaKeith comes around and cools her off literally and figuratively. They have instant chemistry. It was heart warming to watch their love blossom on the pages. The outside entities are not enough to prohibit them from experiencing each other at their fullest potential. This was a good quick read.
What a great second chance for Chrissy, this book was filled with so much emotions and I really enjoyed how the author touched on mental health. I loved how the family came together it just warmed my heart. This was a beautiful love story. I can't wait to see what's next, great read!!
Poor Chrissy she really had a hard time and her brother WJ did not make it any better it wasn't her fault what Avery did. I'm glad that she started seeing a counselor!! Lakeith he is definitely all man and just what chrissy needed. Those Henderson all of them are something else. I'm just glad that Chrissy didn't give up on love. Great Read !!
Chrissy found love! I love the Henderson family. Except WJ, he truly irked my nerves. I’m glad they cleared the air and he realized that he was the problem and not everyone else. Excellent read⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow when you just know you know ❤️. Chrissy was that lost and many women find themselves late in life and all the tragedy and turmoil she faced could have broke her but she became stronger better and found her tru self. LaKeith was the man meant for her but I believe he had to be prepared to be that man so his journey to her was perfection 🥰. The subject matter in this book is tough but it is so timely and is key to everyone’s mental health to listen to your feelings and to not be afraid to seek help because the love you desire and deserve could be right around the corner and you shutting down may be blocking your blessings 🥰. Ms. Walters has penned another one for the masses!
This story is probably one of the favorites in the Henderson family series. Chrissy is at a crossroads in her life after learning a devastating secret about her husband that not only affects her family but families around her as well. Chrissy doesn’t trust herself and feels like she has failed her family as well. She doesn’t feel worthy of love until LaKeith. This story is so beautiful. Chrissy learns to let go of guilt of her husband’s actions, learns to love herself as she is and allows her rebirth to accept the love LaKeith is offering to her. It’s never to late to rebuild yourself from loss and open yourself up the possibility’s of love. Monica Walters continues to give us stories that feed our soul.
It was sooooo refreshing to read about such a mature couple. As usual this author delivered a hot and steamy banger💨🔥💥. This just proves when you get to a certain age, its does not take years to know when you have met your one. I LOVED😍 the new Chrissy that emerged after that storm🌪. She was a confident woman that knew what she wanted.
The Henderson siblings love is awesome and they loved and supported Chrissy.
LaKeith was definitely silver fox bae😍😘. He went after Chrissy and gave her all she needed in such a short time. I did not see the Cyn issues coming. I hope she gets help. It's always great heading to Nome for Another great story.🙌👏📝👌
This novel did not disappoint—not that I thought it would! Chrissy endured the ultimate betrayal that not only knocked her off of her feet but her entire family. With courage, understanding, compassion, and prayer she was able to begin the healing process and found a stronger love the second time around. Hopefully, this book will produce others because we definitely need answers and closure on WJ, Syn, and Jehnara’s stories. I love the Henderson’s and the way they rally around one another and their friends. This author, time and time again, spotlights real struggles, real love, and resilience that keeps me coming back.
I promise whenever I read a story about the Henderson’s I feel like I’m apart of their family as well! But that’s only because this author does a great job I’m making you feel like you are apart of the story! I absolutely loved getting to read about Chrissy! This is one of those stories where you are hooked and pulled in right away!! If u looking for a good love story then this the one!!
I love how Chrissy was about to be strong and get through all that her no good for nothing ex husband put her through!!! It was a process but she did i it! I’m also glad she welcomed LaKeith into her life and allow herself to love again. This author did another great job!!!
I choose this rating because the author never disappoints. This story right here brought me to tears. So heartwarming and realistic. It will make you think!!!!
Once again this author has shown that love can definitely be found again.....after heartache. I felt like this was one for the grown, grown! By the time you reach LaKeith and Chrissy's age you don't waste time. I'm a believer that love at first sight is possible. Remember Aston and Vida????? I was glad that therapy was a major role in this story. Therapy and counseling are game changers when it comes to mental and emotional healing. Facing family issues head on makes all the difference too. Please jump in with the Henderson's and let their sibling love heal you.💕💕💕
