Ava Richardson writes epic page-turning Young Adult Fantasy books. She creates lovable characters and drops them into intricate worlds that are barely contained within your eReader. Ava has written 21 YA dragon fantasy series, including her bestselling series Return of the Darkening and her recent series, Destia's Dragon Shifter War.

She grew up on a steady diet of fantasy and science fiction books handed down from her two big brothers – and despite being dog-eared and missing pages, she loved escaping into the magical worlds that those authors created. Her favorites were the ones about dragons; where they’d swoop, dive and soar through the skies of these enchanted lands.

Exceptional story telling.

These set of books are different from other Dragon storylines.
Instead of a single rider, you have two riders to a Dragon.
As the stories unfold, you will by pulled into intrigue and life like no other. Learning how to conquer your fear of heights and fights and battles.
There is so much going on in their lives with training and making friends ( and enemies ) and overcome upper classes and bigotry.
Hold on tight to the topsy turvy rollercoaster of ride of beating the bad guys and and training to be the best Dragon riders and leaders and future rulers in each of the stories.
This set of 9 books is broken into 3 sets of stories. Each story starts another chapter in the future in the history of Torvalds and Flamer lineages.
I don't want to ruin your reading pleasure by divulging more so I will just say....
Highly recommended. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Outstanding and Enjoyable Read

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire nine book series. Each book have rise to characters that I just feel in love with. Ava Richardson have such life to each characterization that each became so believable.

The author's medieval knowledge gave breathe and life to all the identified scenery and structures. I could just find myself walking and identifying with all the described scenery; whether walking through the described mountains, towns or islands.

Like stories from the past that would speak of feral children being raised by wolves; it was believable that dragons could be sympathetic and raise a human child. In most cases more maternal than a human mother.

One of the best box sets I've ever read!!!

This is a set of stories that takes place in the same fantasy world of Torvald at the and around the famed Dragon Riders Academy! Meet great characters and their descendants throughout the years of their greatest days to their worst trials to their eventual reclaiming of their ancient homes. Meet evil wizards, great heroes, mighty heroines and always the dragons that they ride with through the heavens in perfect harmony. Meet the Great White Broodmothers, the fleet agile Little Messagers the Sinuous Blues, the Stocky Brown's and the Great Crimson Reds and a the Wild Blacks of the Far North. Highly recommended for all ages!,

What a collection! Dark, glorious, magnificent!

The three sets of trilogies here enclosed are each unique, stand alone, while also on each other's shoulders. The way this author delves into people's reasoning and belief systems and allows characters to grow is amazing. The dragons are glorious. The shared life between dragon and rider is life-changing, heart-warming, and the courage of the main characters is inspiring. No-one is flat. Everyone has many sides to size up and think through. Well worth the read.

Great series

I read the entire series. Each book was separated by different generations. Spanning the course sometimes several generations. Always finding lost or retrieving knowledge of their relationship to the dragons. Torvold also changes during these times. It was interesting how everything changed through the years. The books could be read separately since each has it's own story, but together you get the entire picture of what happens through the generations. Read it. This a series to be enjoyed.

Great read

I really enjoyed the stories but I think I would have liked more of a connection between the three dynasties. I was a little sad to see the loss of the dragon connections over the years. It was still a great set of stories told from three different perspectives

Excellent Series

I enjoyed this entire series of 9 books. The world building was original and full without having so much detail to get bogged down. Each set of 3 books was set in a different time with different characters building on the last set. Good reading for middle schoolers up to grandparents.

Amazing Stories that inspire

This set books three to each epic was great fun to read. Each set was very different . Dragons held them all together. Generations separated each tale I had wished at first for them to run one into the other but the time span gave a freshness to each set. If you Luke dragons you will live this wonderful set!

I really like the stories and presentation. I'm old but still am entertained by good stories.

One quibble I have is when archery is presented in the story. A person "nocks" an arrow, they DO NOT "notch" an arrow

Not horrible

I wish I could give better but these just did not sit right with me. I don't like hundreds of years between parts of a story and I don't really feel these stories were as well-told as they could have been. Also they need SERIOUS editing help!

Great tales

What do you mean young adult fantasy? I,m 80 years old and loved these stories. Like Ms. Richardson I grew up reading fantasy and science fiction. And this author is right up there with McCaffrey and others on this genre..

Dragons

This was well written, and contained stories about both dragons and kings. It takes you from the beginning of one story and it's characters onto the next tale without losing the theme. Magic, dragons, darkness along with good and evil, a good series to read.

Torvald Dragon Riders

The series developed an unusual concept. Two riders per dragon. The series was 3 complete stories . I found them interesting and should be appealing to all age readers.

Torvald Dragon Riders

A couple of time I felt like I read the same pages twice
Mostly, I felt that it was trouble, trouble, trouble, and then a two page solution.
But still a good read.

I loved this book, it was amazing and I love how the author wrote his book. I also loved how any relationship that was shown was shown in a obvious but not I inappropriate at all.

Torvald Dragon Riders

A lovely three trilogy set. I really enjoyed having the main storyline wrapped up in a trilogy, and then the next set taking place decades later in the same bloodline. All the characters are very likeable and the storylines are amazing.

Good

Could have been much better, usual bad grammar and spelling. Started brilliantly, but soon slipped into mediocrity, which is a shame because overall, it was good

Thoroughly enjoyed them all

The books were well written. Drew me in from the start. I got a bit confused at each book but figured it out soon enough. I recommend this set but know there are hundreds of years between the characters in each different set of books.
