Rate this book

Great “something to think about “ book!

This is a great book! Simple and easy to read, yet so profound at the same time! The chapters are short and very easy to read just a little or a lot if I have more time. I kept a journal with me as I read to answer the questions for myself, and I got more out of it.
I love that she not only gives names of people she quotes, but often gives the name of the book she took it from as well. I have several books to read now thanks to this!!

I answered one or two of these questions a day until I made my way through the entire book. Some were quick and easy to answer, others were more difficult. Some of my answers really surprised me, and the entire process was absolutely illuminating and life changing! This is a book that can also be revisited many times to dig deeper and identify new passions as you evolve and grow.

A quick read, but the questions are good ones to be pondered. Some very good tips on how to journal and search your thoughts on a deeper level. I will be using some of these techniques.

These were simple questions that I could not, or would not make myself, answer. I am definitely going to have to re-address this material with a more committed mind, a set time and space where I won't be interrupted, with plenty of writing material.

I will set the stage with a cleaned desk, plenty of refreshing foods and a continuous round of soft, light, classical music - hopefully with some kind of nature sounds to take the stress away from the experience.

I think anyone who lacks or has never been allowed to determine their own way before to set a special appointment with the answers to these questions. For those of you who can answer these questions fast, easy and without doubts - I suggest you are very lucky or may want to check and redetermine are the answers really yours, or were you raised in such a way that these are the answers you're expected to record and try to make succeed. Everyone needs to be honest with themselves ... you deserve to only arrive at the true answers.

Now, I'll step off my soapbox ... I'm trying to share my self talk in order to encourage myself and anyone else who might need to hear these words.

In a succinct way, the author provides a list questions that should guide reader through the self-discovery process. The goal is to understand the occupation that will bring you happiness.

Reading this book along with "StrengthsFinder 2.0" and "How Will You Measure Your Life?" can bring synergies in understanding the best match job.

Insightful

This book was a quick read and best of all it was insightful. I liked the fact that the author provided clear and concise examples from her life that stimulated introspection. She also added some references to other books that served as developmental markers. One of the big thoughts is that passions evolve. Nicely done.

Interesting read

While it appears at first that Michelle is speaking to women because of her following, both men and women can benefit from the questions and insights within. If you need her advice and answer the questions honestly, you will definitely be on the path to finding YOUR passion.

the book of quotes

I don’t consider this book to be very deep or in depth. There’s a lot of repetitiveness or redundancies. And if it wasn’t for the dozens of other books quoted and the discussion or explaining of those quotes from other books this book would only be 50 pages long maybe. This is by no means a must read, if anything it’s a must skip.

A step by step process in getting to your highest potential in life and work

If you want to find your passion in life and live the life of your dreams then you’ll want to read Michelle Kulp’s new book “How to Find Your Passion.”

In this fast paced book Kulp provides a step by step process in getting to your highest potential in life and work.

Kulp asks, “Do you listen to your head more than your heart? Too often, we make decisions solely from our logical minds, and that might be okay for a while, but when we are experiencing deep feelings of unhappiness, unfulfillment and purposelessness, it’s time for a change and a new direction. If we make decisions solely from our logical minds, we leave our heart and soul out of the equation. When we do that, we often feel depleted, drained as well as mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally worn out. The 23 questions in this book are designed to help you find your passion.”

Kulp asks you to list all of the things you absolutely hate about or hate doing in your job and in life? “Sometimes when we’re lost and confused, we don’t know what we’re looking for or what exactly it is that we want. I’ve found we can get clues by starting with what we hate or what isn’t working. These clues can lead you to what you do want.”

Kulp says that you should consider “Meditation” because it can help “stop the incessant chatter going on in your mind and allows you to connect to your true self. We all have this “monkey mind” that never stops. We wake up in the morning and these thoughts take over our minds like little monkeys jumping from tree to tree. Meditation helps the monkey become still and listen.”

Kulp believes that your childhood often holds clues to your passions. Kulp reflected on her childhood and remembered how much she loved writing. She also loved being outdoors, riding bikes, putting on neighborhood skits, going to the beach and loved reading books.

Reflection is an important method in connecting with your passion says Kulp who asks,
“So when do you feel freedom in your life? Is it when you are involved in a certain activity or maybe when you are on vacation or when you’re not glued to technology? Take some time to reflect on what freedom means to you and look back and see at what times in your life you’ve felt free. Looking back at my life, I’ve had two types of jobs: Energy-draining jobs Freedom jobs An energy-draining job is one that consumes your time and energy so that at the end of the day you have none left to pursue your passions and curiosities. If you are going to have a job that pays the bills and gives you freedom to pursue your passions, you want a freedom job.”

Kulp is well read and includes dozens of quotes from experts and authors to drive home her points.

Bottom line: Buy this book if you need to find your own passion or if you want to help someone else find their passion. I highly recommend this book.
