High Elves aren't supposed to mate with Low Elves, but not only King Royan can't keep away from his cute monster hunter Sasta—they are about to have babies!

King Royan has just claimed the throne and already he needs to find a mate quickly and produce an heir, in accordance with the Fae Emperor's decree. Tradition has it that only High Elves can mate with a king, the top of the chain, the top alpha in the empire. But when Sasta, a Low Elf and monster hunter, comes to the palace, Royan finds himself drawn to the pretty Fae.

Sasta doesn't think he's fertile—infertility having been the curse of the Fae kingdom since the Great War shook the world—and certainly doesn't think that his encounters with the handsome king might produce anything more than a few hours of pleasure.

It is, then, with great surprise that he discovers he's pregnant, right after the king leaves for a long journey looking for a suitable mate in the neighboring kingdoms.

Convincing the grumpy Head of the Temple of the facts isn't easy, and by the time the king returns, Sasta is convinced that, babies or not, the king probably doesn't care for him at all.

Little does he know that king Royan has been thinking about him all along, unable to be with anyone else because of his feelings for Sasta…

* This is a 55,000-word mpreg Fae novel with humor and angst and misunderstandings that lead nevertheless to love and cute babies! Follow five kings of the Fae in their quests to find their Fated omega Mates and have pretty babies with them. Intended for adult readers. *

This book has Elves, monster, Dragons, and mpreg. It takes place in a male world, where the elves have been divided into different classes, based on their ability to procreate. Their race is dying out, after a great war, and infertility is an issue.

King Royan is in a bind. He must find his "Bearer", and register them with the Emperor before the next Red Moon. Complicating things is the fact that only higher born Elves are allowed to mate with a king.

Sasta is a Monster Hunter, hired by the king to kill all the monsters outside the castle. Sasta and Royan have an immediate attraction, and act on it. Sasta thinks he is infertile, so he isn't prepared to find himself pregnant. The king has just left to visit the surrounding kingdoms, in hopes of finding his mate, leaving Sasta alone, and with no idea he is carrying his heir.

The story is good. There is a lot of angst and misunderstandings, but it ends with a HEA. There's action also, with Sasta taking on some of he monsters, and trying to get him to the Emperor's palace before the Red Moon, or he gives birth. The sex is hot between the two, and Sasta is sassy, so there is plenty of snark.

There are also plenty of typos. A lot of them. While the words are spelled correctly, so spell check wouldn't necessarily catch them, they should have been caught in the editing process. While they were annoying, they didn't distract me from reading the story, or enjoying it. There were times I felt some parts of the story could have been fleshed out more, explained in better detail, but that might be a personal preference on my part. The typo's are the main reason for the three star review. While I will overlook one or two, without dinging the author, there were too many to let me not mention it.

Despite that, I did enjoy the story, and I will read the rest in the series when they are released.

"An Exciting, Mysterious, Beautiful Story"

An exciting, mysterious, heat-filled, humorous, heart-breaking, beautiful story filled with gorgeously unique elves, lots of mesmerizing magic, and deadly supernatural creatures that had this reader loving so many parts of this new story that kept me on the edge-of-my-seat throughout this new read.

I loved His Hunter, by Eva Lyra, and as the title would suggest, contained exhilarating and nail-biting moments which were frequent all set within such beautifully imaginative world building.  The characters were diverse yet common for this reader as Fae have always ended up as favorites to read.  Ones from this story were strong, brave, and mighty.  While considered to be paranormal, the story had a modern air to it as if the story took place during modern times, which was a treat for this reader.

That being said, however, as the first of a new series, there were parts that needed more depth, development and editing, and there were a few parts that just did not jive for this reader as well.  There were quite a few times when I thought, "Umm, yeah, no."  While there a few of these moments, as a whole, I loved His Hunter, and for this look forward to reading more of this series as its introduction was a fantastic one!  I really liked it! :)

An amazing start to a really intriguing series for which I am here for it all. Sasta was incredible I enjoyed his snark and ability to not give a damn, the King was great and I loved his possessiveness. When different classes clash it explodes in heat, passion and a little secret. I laughed at the oblivious nature of both men and loved the relationship between Sasta and the priest, the banter and sass were top notch.

Dear Goodreads,
I really never thought I'd read and enjoy an mpreg fantasy novel, but here we are. This book has a good story at its core, a classic romance trope with a queer cast of characters and some sweet moments, but it desperately needs copyediting. If you like romance novels where the main character gets knocked up right away and then they have to figure out their feelings before a happily ever after with their love interest and you can handle typos, give this one a whirl!

I really enjoyed this book. Sasta was fiery and I rather enjoyed his interactions with priest AO.

This was a fast paced story involving elves, magic, dragons and babies.

A good start to the series!
