Olive Meeks is anything but. Quiet – yes. Shy – sort of. Yet underneath beats a heart filled with hope and promise.
Which is why she accepts the challenge and applies for one of the open positions with Burlesque A La Mode. No surprise she’s really good at it and becomes a darling burlesque baby.
But...Vic Thornton is the owner of the Speakeasy, where the troupe performs, and weeks before, she literally crashed into him. Well, her bicycle hit the truck he was riding in.
Now, she’s certain he’s what she wants, but Vic’s sending mixed messages, and Olive doesn’t play games. More than most, she’s learned to live life and to love when she feels it since no one is promised tomorrow.
Vic still has to figure out he’s worthy of the incandescent sprite who has the potential to become his whole world.
Kitty Bardot juggles a life full of excitement and love. By day she's a chef of her own catering company, by night she puts 10 years of burlesque experience to use in various venues around the Quad Cities. She writes from her country home not far from the Mississippi River, enjoying every moment with her husband and three children. Burlesque River is the first in a series inspired by her life on and off the stage. She's currently working on book three, Burlesque Baby. Due out May
The depth and beauty of this story is magnificent! It's a slow burn with fully developed characters. You can't help falling in love with Olive's innocence, openness, awkwardness, and adaptability!
I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review, all thoughts are my own
4.5 stars
Book 3 in the Bourbon River series, I recommend you read the first 2 books so you can get the back story and get to know some of the characters.
Oh wow I loved this book, it was so nice to be back in the sparkling world of Burlesque.
❤ Slow burn ❤ Sexy ❤ Chemistry
Vic and Olive had so much Chemistry between them, it was just sad there was so much other stuff they had to get through.
Loved the storyline of this book, it was well written and just loved all of the characters, well except Emily as she was an absolute bitch, she definitely played her part well.
I need to add going to see Burlesque to my bucket list, it just seems like it would be a whole other experience.
A free spirited loner by nature and circumstance, Olive joins a burlesque troupe and finds the family she's been missing. She also finds Vic, the one man she wants more than anything, but he's already taken, and Olive isn't one to go after another woman's man. Despite the instant connection he feels with Olive, Vic tries to ignore his attraction to her, and to be a good man and do the right thing by his, sorta, girlfriend, Emily, who likes to play mind games with his and everyone else's heads. Kitty Bardot takes you into the world of burlesque and gives you characters to care about. Though it can be read as a stand alone, I enjoyed revisiting characters from her previous books in Burlesque Baby.
Normally I prefer my romance novels in first person because I feel like I'm able to connect to the characters better that way. But even though this was written in third, it was a good story. And the twist at the end was pretty surprising. I was thinking of a completely different twist. Might just be checking out other books by this author.

Absolutely LOVED this slow slow burn! Kitty Bardot has such an intoxicating way of painting a story. This is the third book I have read by this Author and I am never disappointed. The character Olive was so heart wrenchingly relatable, you can’t help but see parts of yourself in her. Highly recommend this Author!
I received an ARC copy of this book through a book funnel promotion and I am happily giving my review. I would highly recommend this book to those who love great romantic but erotic books. I am sure that readers will enjoy the interactions between Olive and Vic as well as the many other diverse characters.
An intense and entertaining story that I enjoyed reading a lot. I loved reading about Olive and her friends. Will definitely check out the other books in this series.

Olive and Vic - combustible chemistry bubbling under their everyday lives. A story about being brave and following your heart and your dreams. Beautifully written.

Complementary copy given for my honest review and opinion. This was a fun and cute book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The betrayal in the book cut deep but the recovery was worth it.
Olive has my heart, my soul and my body. I'd give everything just to read about her smiling and growing into herself. She climbed the ladder to best mc I've ever read about in a romance novel. While I was reading it felt like I was rocking on her boat with her, was a burlesque dancer at the Speakeasy and tasted sunshine while drinking chamomile ( which, btw, I need a full list of all of her teas).
Definitely recommended to everyone who wants to be transported into the sparkly world of Burlesque and sparkly and glittery theatre life.
Yeah, this isn't gonna work for me. 30% in and there's still nothing happening? Nope, nope, nope. It sounded like a really fun book, but it hasn't delivered. The writing was very annoying, I would have much prefered a first person point of view for this kind of story. And it felt really 'he said, she said', a bad case of tell not show...
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a slow burn love story between Olive and Vic. She has taken on Burlesque and is finding her own way in life. Vic is never off her mind and their attraction is hard to deny. They have some things to get past on their path to happiness. She is perfect for him and his heart knows it. I enjoyed the story
