A few storylines get connected in this issue. We learn more about Lha'saa, the Black Elf Necromancer and her past with Fall, the White Elf, whose story began 500 years before the current events. It has a climatic final battle, great art and nice storytelling. An issue packed with story. And we have some characters from previous issues. Just when I thought Lha'saa was defeated, I realized I had been deceived, but I looked forward to seeing where it would lead us.

Wie alle Weiß-Elfen Bände war dieser hier wieder echt gut gezeichnet und schön coloriert. Aber die Geschichte ist viel zu hektisch. Ich verstehe einfach nicht warum sich für so viel Handlung nicht einfach ein paar Bände mehr Zeit genommen wird??? Die besten Elfen Bände sind immer die wo nur ein einzelnes Ereignis erzählt wird.

The events of this comic tie together a lot of the major story lines.

Lha'saa, the necromancer, has led her forces to conquest after conquest. But her old enemy, Fall, still has some tricks left. Rescued by his dragon, Fall begins to get ready for the final confrontation with Lha'saa. The final fight is an epic one, but no spoilers.

This issue not only further develops the Fall story arc, but it gives you an inside view of what Lha'saa was like when she was a mortal elf. Redwin of the Dwarves also makes an apperance in this issue as well.

Some major events take place in this pivotal issue. A great read for any fantasy fan.

This is the third book focused on Fall, the White Elves, I loved how they combine his story with the rest of the elves races even though his story was set 500 years in the past, we have yet another decisive battle with Lha'saa and her ghouls/undead. We have been having similar battles for last few volumes it feels repetitive at the same time they do play out differently showing its own unique significance to the plot. The artwork is as usual excellent.

While I loved how Fall's story play out I do miss the freshness of the initial volume.

Better plot than in previous volumes telling the side of the White Elves. The use of dragons in the fight against Lah’saa & her army was a nice touch story-wise, and visually.

Another fantastic volume. One of the best strengths of the plot is that you have no idea how the battle will turn out, kind of like Game of Thrones or some battles in Hajime no Ippo. And great artwork, of course. I can't recommend this series enough.

POPKULTUROWY KOCIOŁEK: Świat Akwilonu: Elfy tom 13 to kolejna odsłona pełna emocji, magii i nieuchronnego przeznaczenia. Jest to również powrót do znanych postaci i miejsc. Tytuł otwiera przed czytelnikiem nowy rozdział konfliktu z nekromantką Lah’saa. Scenariusz nie tylko rozwija wcześniej nakreślone wątki, ale też zaskakuje nowym podejściem do ich prowadzenia.

Akcja tego tomu zostaje osadzona kilka lat po wydarzeniach znanych z finału tomu jedenastego. Fall, jeden z najbardziej doświadczonych elfich tropicieli, powraca wraz ze smokiem Ostatni Cień do Zielonego Sanktuarium. Miejsca, które niegdyś znał i chronił, a które teraz zdaje się obce, martwe i złowieszcze. Ich misja jest jasna: odnaleźć i zniszczyć relikwie Lah’saa, potężnej nekromantki, która przez dziesięciolecia siała spustoszenie w świecie Akwilonu. Jednak zamiast triumfalnego zakończenia wieloletniej walki, Fall i jego towarzysze trafiają do świata, który zatracił już życie i nadzieję.

Scenariusz Oliviera Péru w tym tomie wyraźnie zrywa z dotychczasowym stylem cyklu Świat Akwilonu: Elfy. Zamiast klasycznej, pełnej bitew i sojuszy struktury fantasy, autor proponuje narrację pełną zadumy i osobistego tonu. Fall nie prowadzi armii, prowadzi wewnętrzny monolog, toczy walkę nie tyle z przeciwnikiem, co z poczuciem winy, utraconym czasem i niepewnością co do przyszłości. Péru bardzo świadomie operuje tempem. Pozwala historii „żyć”, zatrzymuje się przy małych scenach, które mają wydźwięk symboliczny. Te zabiegi nie tylko nadają historii głębi, ale również zbliżają ją do literackiego fantasy, w którym fabuła nie zawsze prowadzi prosto do punktu kulminacyjnego. Lah’saa choć nadal obecna jako przeciwniczka, zostaje w tym tomie zdegradowana z roli centralnej siły zła do bardziej symbolicznej figury. To ciekawa i odważna decyzja, która jednak nie każdemu przypadnie do gustu.

Największą siłą tej opowieści pozostają jej bohaterowie, zarówno ci na pierwszym planie, jak i ci, którzy pojawiają się tylko epizodycznie. Fall, nie jest tu tylko wojownikiem z przeszłością, jest zmęczonym mężczyzną, który doskonale wie, że jego działania mogą nie przynieść żadnych rezultatów, ale mimo to nie potrafi się wycofać. Jego relacja ze smokiem, oparta jest bardziej na gestach i spojrzeniach niż słowach. Z drugiego planu wybija się przede wszystkim Redwin, postać znana z tomu piątego, który tutaj zostaje odmalowany jako starzejący się wojownik, pogodzony z losem, ale wciąż wierny zasadom. Choć jego rola nie dominuje narracji, stanowi on ważny punkt odniesienia dla Falla. Ciekawie wypada też relacja Falla z przeszłością, jego rozterki, sny, wizje i echa wspomnień są na tyle silne, że chwilami przysłaniają rzeczywiste zagrożenia....

It seems like even the people who tried to battle and who are well prepared can't win.
Though I have to say the betrayal was totally predictable, I couldn't believe Layla was barely surprised.
I'm curious what will happen next.
