This is a terrific lecture series on the American Revolution. The author is a history professor at West Point. He leads the listener through the beginnings of country into the reasons for the war and the aftermath. He uses stories effectively. He tells to good and the bad. Highly recommended for those who love history.
This was excellent. It was taught like in lecture, bringing me back to my university days which I really enjoyed, not to mention, I learned quite a bit new things that I didn't already know/learn about this time period. The lecturer was very good at the presentation. Hands down would listen to it again.
Robert McDonald crafts a really nifty lecture series in “American Revolution: The War for Independence and the Birth of the United States.” As a history instructor at the United States Military Academy (West Point), he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. Given the subject matter, it would have been really easy for an average author to get bogged down into dry details, but McDonald keeps it all very fresh and lively. My next move is to read Alan Axelrod’s book on the revolution and compare the two. In the meantime, I highly recommend this book through and through.
