He leaned down, taking my chin in his hand, forcing me to look up into his blood-red eyes. His fangs were showing, dripping with the blood of my boyfriend who lay on the ground, lifeless."You are mine, Bast. You'd do well to remember that." He purred, as he licked the blood off his lips. "No other man make take your innocence, but me." he said, looking down at my nearly naked form, the lust in his eyes making me squirm."Yes, Damien." I whispered in response, covering myself in the sheet, and looking over at the body of Jacob with a whimper. ______________________________________________ My name is Bast, I'm seventeen years old, soon to be eighteen. When I was twelve, my parents sold me to the devil. On my eighteenth birthday, he will come back for me.

📕 The Devil’s Bride: Revised Edition (The Underground Royalty Series, Book 2) by Key Kirita ⭐ Rating: 1/5 — DNF at 59%
Summary:
Bast—sold to a billionaire vampire named Damien by her own parents—has spent her youth caught in a twisted promise. On her eighteenth birthday, her supposed fate kicks in. But instead of dark romance delivering depth or claws, this “revised edition” lets fascinating potential drown in melodrama.
Character Reactions:
👹 Damien – Introduced as "your father sold me" vampire-level dangerous, cuffed to entitlement and empty intimidation. More trope than terror, zero unpredictability. NovelCat
👧 Bast – Supposed to evolve from sold girl to vengeful bride, but ends up emotionally flat. She's a name on the page with no bite, no arc.
Moments That Made You Toss the Book:
The “sold-you-to-me” reveal—dark setup, dull payoff.
No emotional progression: she doesn’t fight, she doesn’t rage, she barely reacts.
Vampire cliché without any personality—Damien is vampire-old-school poster boy, not predator.
Smut Level:
Minimal and stale. No spark, no claws—wet noodle foreplay at best.
Trigger Warnings:
Parental betrayal, transaction-as-romance, manipulation, teen forced into contract—presented without consequence or depth.
had to DNF this one i got about half way and i just couldn't take how fast it jumped in the story every other paragraph something major happened and there was no flow it felt too fast and these men who are suppose to be 250+ in age acting so immature and being attractived to a 17 year old girl.... yea and how immature she is as well . in the course of 100 pgs she went from hating Damien, To loving him uncontrollably, to thinking she had feelings for Sinclair, to being Mad at Damien again and again to being attractive to Sam to getting engaged to wanting a baby and then feeling like she's property... all before she turns 18... which was suppose to happen in a few months. it's too quick of a timeline for me personally it just feels childish in nature how quick Bast changes her mind which make sense she's is a child.

I wanted to finish the book before reviewing, but at page 232 I saw I was only 35% done and I couldn’t bear it any longer. The words, the sentences, conversations, all ran the gamut from puzzling to ridiculous. People’s actions and reactions were inexplicable. And facts were varied and dissimilar (one sentence eyes are bright green, in the next paragraph they were gray). Just … NO!
ok I tried really hard to like this book. I think it has potential but I cannot stand how fast everything moves and how it "jumps." Maybe that isn't the right word but it just jumps from one thing to another to another. the transitions aren't smooth. I think the scenes are unrealistic even by fantasy standards.
I had such high potential, I saw an ad for this novel which made me put down a delicious series I was reading just to pick up this novel. It held my attention until it didn’t. I look forward to seeing what this author has to offer in the future.
If you enjoyed I am number 4, the mortal instruments, or twilight then this is the book for you. It dies end on a cliffhanger but the other books are already available so you won’t have to wait long to grab the next book.
