Second read:

Gobbled this up in one sitting, couldn't put it down! I forgot what a steal-your-heart story this was. OMG KAI! You're everything!! EVERYTHING!!!

Kate, you have fantastic taste! 😍😍😍🍆🍆🍆🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋🔥🔥🔥

****************First Review********************************

There is only so long I can drag out a stupendously good book. 📚 Here is my belated review:

Kai and Eir are now my favorite couple in this new series by Aja James. They are absolutely perfect for each other. A brutish earth dragon with a heart of gold and a badass Valkyrie who learns to love. What else can you ask for??

I don't even know what gifs to put on here, bc the Kai I'm imagining in my mind can't be found in nature. He's scarred and tattooed and not "good looking" but soooooo beautiful he takes your breath away. Must be the kindness and loyalty and love in his "firestorm eyes".

I scrubbed the internet for an HOUR trying to find pictures or gifs that did him justice... can't find them! you will just have to use your imagination like I did!

Eir is easier. She probably looks something like this but with pale skin and freckles:

The 2 of them together makes sooooo much sense. AJ has a way of showing the best of opposites attract. In some ways they are very alike. Both warriors, passionate, brave, dedicated to their "missions." They know about comradery but they don't know about love. But when they learn it with each other...

Watch out!

Thanks to Kate for sharing Kai with the rest of us. He is a special hero and just sooooooo lovable. You want to just stare at him and trace all of his gorgeous tattoos and wait for his shy sunrise smile....

And the plot...what plot? There was a plot? :P For me, personally as a reader, plot is secondary to romance. And the romance was so hott for in this installment that I couldn't care what the plot was.

But rest assured there was one! Another quest for the Wish of Wonders by the Jade Emperor's request. All kinds of obstacles in the way, including almost getting drowned by zombies. Snowball fights. Frost Giants... Weaving in Norse mythology. Loki makes an appearance. Red Witch of the North... need I say more?

It was a wonderful ride and a thoroughly satisfying ending. I'm very happy Kai gets to go "home." and that his home allows him to be with Ere and Sorin and Goya and the clan all the time. I wanted the last few chapters to go on and on! I want to read about their daily lives!

But each book always makes me wonder about the next book. The next quest, and what is this GAME that is being played by so many mysterious players????😳😳😳😳😳😳

We shall see!!

RTC. Just finished it! What is this GAME???? 😳😳😳😳😳 Meanwhile... SCORE for Kai and Eir!!

So.... where to begin? Being part of the Muses group for Aja James (her beta readers that get to see covers early and read each chapter as she writes it) is a double-edged sword.

You get everything like a year before release and you watch the magic happen live as the author writes it, and you speculate and wonder and theorize and essentially get completely addicted to each little spoonful of story as it comes.

You find yourself begging, harassing, coaxing, pleading, threatening the author to write faster...

You read the most inappropriate parts of the book while you're supposed to be hard at work (and consequently get all your co-workers uncomfortable or too curious when you burst out laughing or crying or have a drooling leer on your face)

One of us Muses (Kate V) had the foresight to Claim the Hero of this book for her personal harem. See here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

As a veteran of Claiming hotties for my harem (see here for the previous series that is linked to this world: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) I thought I still had more time. I'm kinda betting on even more enticing Heroes (for me, anyway) farther out in the series, but

DAYYYYMMMMNNN, Kai is THE MAN! Kate called it!

The Hero of this book is everything you can ask for. He checks ALL my boxes:
* BIG EVERYWHERE, TALL, STRONG
* warrior to the bone
* badass dragon shifter (THE first earth dragon in creation)
* heart of gold
* loves only once and forever
* scarred and tattooed (need I say more!)

I mean... 😋😋😋😋😋🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰

You get the gist...

The Heroine is pretty cool too. But I always read more for the Heroes in romance books. She's totally his match:
* warrior to the bone (Valkyrie)
* cool and controlled (none of that flighty "dumb blonde" routine in some romance book heroines)
* heart of gold
* loves only once and forever

The 2 of them coming together was a feast for the eyes (reading and imagination wise). The sex was off the charts hots, the kind of AJ special hott-- intense emotional sex, lots and lots of FEELS!!

There's always the adventure and the deepening plot (WHAT IS THE GAME????)

Ere and Sorin are beautiful together as always, and Ere is his usual lovable snarky self. But WHAT IS GOING ON WITH SORIN??? 😳😳😳😳😳

Loki makes a Cameo (that's all I'll say)

And people, it's set in VIKING TIMES! (YAH!)

I don't know what else to say. It's just such a fast, delectable read. Aja James delivers again!!

Now I'll be biting my nails for the next one...

This one started well and there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. Ere’s humour and irrepressible personality. And the humour in Eir wearing a dress.

Why must there be so much cloth? With all these unnecessary pleats and ruffles? Why did the neckline dip so far down, exposing all of her throat, the tops of her shoulders and half of her chest?

As if to say—look here! Perfect target for stray arrows. Even a half-blind archer couldn’t miss.

The story, the challenge all good but…

Don’t you just hate the but?

For me (and it is just me, all other reviews are glowing throughout) it stalled. While I loved Kai and Eir particularly Kai and I wanted him to finally find his place, his mate and be happy. It just dragged. I know they were getting to know each other but once they started having sex it was too much. I know what you’re thinking two hot people how can there possibly be too much sex?

The countdown of days found me skimming. Which was a shame because until this point I was glued and loving it.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the author.

You Were Mine First Kai! 5+ Stars!

This is the third book in the Dragon Tails series and features Kai and Eir. I feel so lucky to be a part of the Muses and have the opportunity to read this. This really can’t be read as a standalone and I would strongly suggest you read this series anyway because it’s SO good. I promise you won’t regret it.

Ere and Sorin are once again summoned to the Celestial Heavens to complete a task that the Jade Emperor gives them. The universal balance and the fates of many are dependent on the successful completion of it. This task is the Wish of Wonders.

But Ere and Sorin are not alone...the Jade Emperor has sent Kai the first Earth Dragon with them to complete their mission. With very little to go on and thrust into Viking times, the three start their adventure to locate the Wish of Wonders. Along their journey, they meet a suspicious donkey, some other fun characters and a Valkyrie named Eir who has a mission of her own. It isn’t long before they realize they will be battling a fierce enemy which could be the destruction of them all and Kai and Eir connect on a level that will forever change their stars.

Kai is battle weathered, intense, strong, muscular, scarred and tattooed, and a deeply passionate alpha male. He has spent a very long time in isolation and loneliness...only brought out to battle and die and be sent back to the cold prison the Jade Emperor had him in. Sent on this mission with Ere and Sorin...he recognizes them as friends from long ago but is reluctant to form another attachment as he is only ever used as a tool for battle. Kai has not known freedom for a long time and has never found a true mate. Until he sees Eir. Kai recognizes her eyes and her soul and knows she is someone special. Will Kai be able to complete their task and also find love and connection with Eir before the cold truth of time runs out?

description

description

Eir is a warrior with intent, controlled (except with Kai), statuesque and has a spine of steel. But she is also intensely loyal with a heart of gold. She has never known true love and connection and has thrown all of her energy into collecting warriors for Valhalla. Her newest mission is to collect the dragon warrior Kai. Eir has always been aware of him and when she finally spends time with him and SEES him she knows that this magnificent warrior is not meant for Valhalla. He is meant for himself...and much to her surprise...for her? But the cards are stacked against them. Will Eir be able to save Kai? And at what cost?

description

Kai and Eir clash in the best way...coming together in an erotic tangle of legs and limbs and hearts. Despite their reluctance to believe that happiness and companionship could be in their future, the two of them face the forces of fate together in the hopes that the bond they share will call them back together in time.

description

I love the world AJ is building and the intensely deep characters she develops through each quest. We get more of Ere and Sorin in here and o how I love them...but this game that keeps getting spoken of leaves me with a daunting feeling and a squeeze in my chest. I am both excited and nervous to see where the rest of these tasks take our beloved characters. As always with AJ’s books, I highly recommend this series...really any book AJ has written. And don’t forget...Kai was mine first.

Well, damn. I really hoped I’d enjoy this more than the last book… And I did, up to a certain point (30% or so), even if the hero didn’t impress me much. Kai started out as a boorish macho-man of epic proportions, even by AJ standards. Somewhat similar to Andros, and to Sorin in his less articulate moments. However, the heroine made up for that in spades; Eir was a badass through and through, and instantly reminded me of Aella (my fave AJ h), only more serious. I was so hopeful. The other half of the main couple might have been an asshole who spoke in grunts and one-syllable words, but that’s not an insurmountable issue, right? He even improved over time… well, a little bit. If that was my ONLY problem, though, this still would’ve been a four.

First of all, let me say that I am well aware that these books are ott as hell when it comes to romance. I accept that every time I reach for them, or something similar. However, I do want some accompanying plot to balance it out, and AJ has always delivered on that account before. Even the Song of Dragons, which is probably my least favorite AJ book, had better sex-to-plot ratio that this one. Let’s say, 60-40. Here, it was more like 90-10. And the plot that was there was moving extremely slowly; everyone was waiting for this Big Bad Thing to happen, preparing for the battle, etcetera, and it all took a truly disproportionate amount of time when the battle itself was over in a blink. Honestly, I was a little bored. In the meantime, Kai and Eir were having ridiculous amounts of sex. Pages upon pages of sex. Never thought I’d point that out when it comes to these, but there you go.

My second and biggest problem was the way that gender roles were repeatedly stressed here. It’s unpleasant, but not unusual in MF romances, however what really bugged me here was the execution. Ere, of all people, who I always loved for being so different from all the other male MCs in these books, more ‘openminded,’ if you will, just about forcing Eir into a dress? That scene was so ridiculous and unnecessary. What’s wrong with armor-wearing kickass women?? In such a dire situation, no less… Are the more conservative readers to blame for this, are their opinions forcing AJ’s hand? (Also, Ere and Sorin got almost no page time here, in contrast to the previous books in the series…) In a similar vein, fast forward to the last chapters and we have Kai dissing ‘modern men’ for going to the gym, dressing nice, using gel and deodorant, and being ‘soft.’ Excuse me, but that was just offensive. Fantasy-beefcakes are all fine and good (in super small doses), but let’s not mix that with RL, yeah?

SO! As much as I enjoyed the bits of Norse mythology that were liberally sprinkled throughout this story, Ere’s witty comments and sparkling personality, and the new strong heroine, Wish of Dragons didn’t really live up to my high expectations.

After meeting and experiencing Kai, I'll never be the same.

This book's mission took our heroes to the edge of worlds. There were vikings, trolls, giants and sprinklings of the mighty Odin and the whimsical Freya. It was fantastical, mythical, and almost ethereal magic.

And for all the wonder that was mixed into this story, I can't help but be completely in awe of all the greatness that was put into Kai.

There's just something too sweet to resist about a taciturn, brooding, broken, monster of a man (see Sorin). And Kai... He had the enchanting one-word and grunt seduction of Natalie down to a science. Yup, here I am, enamored by a man who barely spoke a word!

While I would never dream of sharing a man (and would definitely cut a b!tch if she thought we could), I'm fine with sharing Kai with Eir. She was not a sweet heroine looking for a daring rescue. She was a Valkyrie, a caller of death, and if rescuing was going to be done, she'd be a part of it. She went from cold to scorching over Kai and I absolutely loved how she finally found her heart through him.

...her warrior was different. First, because he was not average in any sense of the word. He was a hero among heroes, a god among men. Second, he was hers.

Okay, so back to Kai. My heart kept breaking for this man. Born to fight gods, he was a brother to Ere, but after the war was won, when Ere was reborn as a Pure One, Kai was kept prisoner. He was a weapon and nothing more. He had no real freedom and couldn't form real relationships. I loved how he and Ere and Sorin reconnected here. It was not only hilarious (thanks again, Ere), it was sweet and well deserved.

I'm saying it again... This author is a marvel at creating eerily beautiful worlds and stunningly beautiful characters.

They came together in a fury of mouths, tongues, teeth and limbs. Grabbing, clawing, sucking, biting. They hungered for each other, so they feasted. They thirsted for each other, so they drank their fill. They ached and longed and craved, so they inhaled, consumed and tore into each other with the wildness and abandon of animals in heat. But also with the intensity and passion of long-lost soulmates, coming back together as one.

And while I could expound on my great love for Kai, I don't want to encourage any of you to try to steal him from me. So just know that he is the epitome of the best you can find in a hero, love him from afar, and love this story whenever you read it. Because you really need to read it!

There's always more on the blog

3 'Viking Era' stars

I'm so sad I didn't like this one as much as I hoped. I mean, there are VIKINGS!!

It's just that the whole concept of this series doesn't work for me. Time travel aside ('cause I'm not a fan of it anyway) I also don't really get these quests ??? They are supposed to be about natural balance or sth but I just have a feeling JE is watching his own Squid Games with a dash of matchmaking (because apparently he's a big softie on the inside or all those HEAs are not his doing... Anyway, for the whole natural balance thing, everything they are doing, just doesn't feel urgently important. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

So, about this book... I freaking LOVED the vikings era!! And Norse mythology (too little Loki pagetime, just saying, lol) and quotes from Norse sagas!! Even runes are included!! 🖤🖤🖤 OMG amazing! However, I yet again couldn't really connect with characters. I liked Eir. Badass Valkyrie, yesss!!! And her Valkyrie sisters, so many badass female warriors! But I think we won't see them in following books. I miss in this series that we don't get to see side charachters again. #sad moni

Kai was alright. I was really invested in bromance between him and Ere (much more than in romance between him and Eir, go figure). I mean, I got all mushy just thinking about these little dragonlings being all cute and deadly. Too bad we didn't get some flashbacks about them. And we saw how much Ere cares about Kai but not exactly the other way around. Well, we were told but not really shown. Actually, there was a lot of tell instead of show going on, which bothered me a little.

Kai and Eir... I don't know... lots of sex and then some more sex and tiny bit emotions and then sex again. Honestly, I found it boring. I get that Eir is obsessed with Kai's ass but for the amount of sex these two were having, I expected it to be more spicy. She used wings for fuck sake!! but I almost fell asleep. I would have preferred more different kind of action. For a fantasy book, there wasn't really much fighting. There was one brief battle at the end with very random villain. I just didn't feel any serious high stakes, so there wasn't much excitement or at-the-edge-of-the-seat kind of feelings.

I'm still curious about Merlin and who is gonna be the love of his life, so I'll probably come back to this series but I'm not really in a rush. I know most of the readers love this spin-off but I guess it's just not my thing.

The ARC of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Aja!!

Welcome Earth Dragon.

There is just something magical about Aja's writing guys. Or maybe it's just Ere and Sorin doing their best and making you fall in love with them even more? Or, and a big or, it's the people they meet on their adventures that makes you devour the books even faster? It could just be me thinking these things though.

Wish of Dragons is the third installment of the Dragon Tails series. With each page, chapter, and sexually filled tension moment that came my way - I just wanted more. So much more. I honestly adored getting to know Kai and Eir. He's the first earth dragon that has seen more battles than I have been alive. She is a bad ass Valkyrie who has also done the same. If this was a competition, I would be losing. Badly.

These two have honestly been through so much. So, it wasn't exactly hard to ship them together after they first met. Seriously, twist my arm guys, I shipped them so freaking hard. They had great chemistry from the get-go, but they also gave me constant whiplash too. Which, yes, I get it. Saying the L word and developing feelings is kind of hard to do, but they made it look so easy.

Other than that, these two perfected the Argentine tango of action and the paso doble of romance into a beautiful mash-up masterpiece. I honestly couldn't look away. I'm not sure what the next adventure will be about or who will we meet, but I'm beyond excited for it all.

In the end, I'm worried about the game and what the fates have in store for all of us. Please be good to my heart Aja.

I have received this ARC from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Wish of Dragons is already the third story in this fabulous series by Aja James.
And as usual, she puts us through the wringer by making it hurt só bad,but making it up by giving us that happy end we so desperately need.
Being a Muse for her means those feelings are tenfold, and more, because we get piece by agonizing piece of the story.
With no immediate closure, with us begging for more, only to find that yes,it cán get worse….
To get to the good parts is só gratifying at that point!!!

Ere and Sorin are called to the Celestial Realm for their next quest, and to Ere’s surprise,he sees someone he never thought he’d see again.
The earth dragon that fought alongside of him during the War of the Gods is antagonizing Merlin!
Kai is alive, how is that possible???
Finding out that Kai has actually been though hell all this time is só painful….and at the same time,Ere is furious the J.E. made his friend suffer for so long.
Being held in confinement, only to be let out to fight and die over and over….and over,is inhuman!

They’re sent to the age of the Vikings to fulfill their quest of the Wish, and once they’re there,Ere sets out to search for clues amongst the locals.
And inbetween,he tries to catch up with Kai,get the closeness back they used to have.
But all those ages in confinement have made Kai reluctant to get close to people….
If only Ere got that message, that infuriating dragon won’t let up!

Eir is one of the Valkyries, and she has seen Kai before.
She and her sisters have the task to add warriors to the great hall of Valhalla.
And this time,Odin wants her to add Kai too….
But Freya wants her to know there are other options,so what does thát mean?
Once she meets Kai again, she knows she can’t just send him to Valhalla like that.
Not without getting up close and personal first….

Kai knows he wants Eir the moment he lays eyes on her.
During their time together,he shows her how much,by opening up to her,by giving her himself, fully.
But Eir is reluctant to do the same, knowing what her orders are…
Only this dragon makes it só hard to resist!
And once they are committed, they are COMMITTED.
With the battle that lies ahead,Eir knows she’ll do anything to have him survive.
Even if it means severe punishment for herself…

Kai was such a beautiful soul!
Finding out he was Goya’s littermate was the icing on top of that delicious dragon cake, and i’m glad Kate was generous enough to share him.
He deserved to get out alive, and he deserved to LIVE!
To be surrounded by those that cared,by the ones that loved him.
To experience the world, and everyday stuff.
To get the love of his life back with him.
And all that Eir had to do to give him that, was wish for him to have all that he desired….

I’m trying to figure out where to start out on this one. It’s like a wow moment the whole time!

First off I would like to start off with saying I LOVE THE THEME SETTING!! I have always loved the Nordic mythology! I love Valkyries and everything that comes along with them. They are very fierce fighters in every book and movie I have read and seen about them.

Kai was amazing! At first not going to lie I was like wow this guy is kind of a asshole, but he grew on me! 😂 I say that in love to be real honest. Once you read the book I promise you will understand! I was seeing red from what he was doing in the beginning, but I won’t go into details because I don’t want to ruin it. After finding out so much about him I felt so bad for him. My heart broke. To be used by everyone around him is beyond horrible!

Then we have Eir…… let me just say I LOVED HER!! She was amazing!! I will say she had me worried when she messed up big time! (Again not going into detail because I don’t want to ruin it). But man she made up for it 10 fold! She was so awesome and any woman dumb enough to come for her man gets what’s coming to them! She was beyond a badass Valkyrie as Ere would like to bring up the badass.

Both of them together is awesome! I loved the fact they had that huge fight together, and neither one of them backed down. She was hurt and still kept going. So was he. Neither one gave up, and together that makes them a super unbeatable team. Their love is sooooo fierce and beautiful at times I felt like I could just reach out and touch it. And the way it ended for them I WAS SCREAMING WITH JOY!!

Loved getting to also read about Sorin and Ere in this, but I will say at times I was getting super worried. There is times I was chewing on my nails because Sorin has me worried. What does he know that he isn’t letting Ere know? Is something major going to happen?!? What’s this game that is being played?!? The ending of this book left me with more questions than answers!!!! 🤯😱

This book was a beyond amazing adventure that I enjoyed the whole way through. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I was on the edge of my seat….. you name it I went through it!! I can only imagine the next one and I will try to wait patiently for it! Thank you Aja James for letting me go on this amazing ride with this awesome group of characters! As you always do I felt like I was living in this world right along side these guys and it was amazing! Hopefully the next one comes out soon!! 😀

Happy reading!! 🖤🖤🖤

4.5⭐️

This world just keeps getting better!

From Merlin to Ancient Greece and now into Nordic Mythology. This book features Valkyries and frost giants and even Loki! Eir the badass Valkyrie who has been tasked in many times to claim the life of Kai but hasn’t managed to bring herself to do it. Kai the first dragon is a bit of a grumpy A-hole that you learn to love.

I enjoyed the interaction with Kai and Ere, with Ere being portrayed as an annoying little brother type.

I’m in awe of the imagination of Aja James and curious about where she is going to take us next on this journey. I can’t wait to read more.

Thanks Aja for an early copy of this story which I really enjoyed.

Out now!

4.5 Stars.

This series gets better with every book.
While there is an HEA for 2 of the mc's, there is also an ongoing storyline.....
Actually there is more than one ongoing storyline 🤔😄. Those hopefully happy endings we don't know when we will get. I do know we will get more information as the world continues. There is definitely more going on then just these little adventures the Ere and Sorin go on.

Kai and Eir are in the starring roles in this one.
Kai is Rough and Grumpy and in his way, very adorable. Well, at least to me.
Eir is a Badass Valkyrie
And they are a perfect match for each other.

I do wish these stories were more Dark. Though in some ways they are. They are full of suspense, action and some heart wrenching moments. If you read these I think you will understand what I'm saying. If you don't, then your missing out.

This story flows smoothly and has a good pace. There is adult steamy scenes.
And I very much enjoyed reading this book.

Book 3 in the Dragon Tales series by Aja James is a Viking/Valkyrie love story. Kai, the first ever earth dragon is sent, with Ere and Sorin (a couple from AJ’s Pure/Dark Ones series) on a quest to find a wish.
As with all the books in this series, the characters travel to another place and time, and this time, it’s to Scandinavia, to a Viking time. Kai is a berserker who has been used countless times to effect the outcome of a battle, then put back into an awarenessless existence until the next fight.
And this time, he meets Eir, a Valkyrie sent to collect him for the halls of Valhalla. He is sure he’s doomed to die again, to be sent back to his nothingness prison, and he’s fine with it. It’s his purpose.
Eir, the badass warrioress, comes to collect her prize, to intervene when Kai dies so that his soul can be directed to the gods, to fulfill her purpose.
Fortunately, things don’t go as planned and Eir knows—believes with her whole soul—that Kai needs to live.
Kai is a swoon-worthy alpha hero. Scarred and delicious, big, brawny, and extremely capable, he recognizes Eir’s soul. He wants her and slowly, he breaks through her icy and unfeeling barriers. And Eir, a statuesque and stubborn Valkyrie, is the woman meant for him. She’s the only one to stand up to him and to make Kai take notice.
They have one shot to find a way to fulfill both their purposes, save the humans in the village they have come to protect, and to find the Wish of Dragons, all without losing the connection they’ve discovered.
I would recommend reading the first two books in this series before diving into WoD. There is a lot of history to be gleaned from them that will round out your enjoyment of this book. Honestly, if you haven't yet read it, start with the Pure/Dark Ones series by Aja James. The Dragon Tales series is really a continution of sorts of the P/D series.

First of all, thanks so much to the wonderful author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In this book we have a fierce heroine named Eir, a Valkyrie and the hero is an ancient dragon aka Kai that isn't interested in commitment since he never felt love before.
Eir always fulfill her duties and she must lead the the dead to her God.
There's an undeniable attraction between Eir and Kai, but a happy ending seems impossible because they are from different worlds and times. Besides they are free souls and their missions get in the way...
This is a book packed with action, steamy romance and amazing characters. If you love romance and fantasy, this is for you.

What can I say except for Wow! First, getting to see Ere and Sorin again is like seeing some best friends who are sorely missed. Ere's snark and irrepressible mischievousness and Sorin's quiet but absolute adoration of Ere make these two one of my favorite couples of all time. They are on their quest once again (is it awful that, while I want them to have their HEA and some rest, I hope these quests never end?) In this quest, they are in the Viking era and are trying to find the Wish of Wonders.

Along on their quest is Kai, who is actually one of the first dragon, and a big brother figure to the prior incarnation of Ere. (This is something that was covered in this author's prior series, the Pure/Dark Ones series, which, if you haven't read, you really need to because they are amazing.) Kai has basically been imprisoned and only released when the Jade Emperor requires his services, which is as a warrior berserker. Initially, I found him amusing because he was so lacking in any social graces. But as the story continued and I saw just how much heart, love and purity he had, I just fell hard for him. Seriously, he was perfect- a strong, fearless warrior who loved with his whole heart, whether it was towards his mate or his friends and family. Swoon!!

Also along the ride was Eir, the Valkyrie. I thought the Viking lore introduced in this story was fascinating and I absolutely loved Eir- the toughness, the fearlessness and the loyalty. She's always followed Kai throughout time, whenever he was released, and this time, she is tasked with bringing him back to Valhalla when he finally accomplishes his task. Her internal battle between carrying out her responsibility and her growing love for Kai was so well characterized and their love leapt off the pages. This is definitely a love match for the ages.

Besides showcasing the growing love between these characters (and the steamy scenes were whooohoo), our cast of heroes have to help a small town fight off a legendary monster all while trying to track down the Wish of Wonders. As always, Aja James keeps the readers in the dark about what exactly the artifact is until the end and the larger scope of what the Jade Emperor is trying to accomplish with all of these quests but her excellent writing and set up of this world keeps the reader invested. As a character-driven reader, her mastery of creating these tough but oh so sincere and lovable characters really puts these books on top of my must-read pile.

I am humbled

I love Warroirs, Valkyries, and especially Dragon Vikings! Kai is one of my favorites now. I am in LUST! Think I might have to re-read certain spicy parts because Kai 🎉🐙😰 just does it for me. (I secretly want to have his dragonlings).

Aja's ability to world build is fenominal and amazing! I can't imagine the time and patience it takes to first create their world, build the characters, devise a steamy plot, and add in our favorite black Dragon with fiery Phoenix to the mix. Aye curamba!

Ere and Sorin's love is never ending and so so beautiful. They always hit me in the good feels. Ere's snark and Sorin's stoicism just make these stories POP. Add in an earth DRAGONS' angst and warrior Valkyrie whom both have never known true love equals an epic storm of spice and heat! I read this book in 3.25 hr's no poddy breaks! No joke!

I have a feeling by the end of these adventures I am going to BAWL!

In the meantime I shall await the next in this series like the Mervins commercial with the lady stuck to the store glass begging, "open, open open" lolol 😘😘😍😍😂😂

I did not want this book to end...I LOVE it so much❤️❤️❤️Eir and Kai are so perfect together. They are just stunning. Their love for one another is so intense and their passion is explosive. From the moment they are introduced I just knew that there was no one like them. I love who they were separately from each other but when they are together they were perfect and undoubtedly destined to be together. I have never read characters like these two and I am obsessed with them. Eir is such a badass and I love how she doesn't lose that and how that is one of things that Kai loves about her. Aja James delivers in every single book. Each couple and story are so unique and amazing. Read this series!

I do believe that I have a new favorite of course I might say that on every one of these series but I truly loved Eir & Kai along with our usual soulmates Ere and Sorin. A earth dragon who will steal your heart and a Valkyrie who would steal his heart! And I must say this has my favorite HEA!

This was an incredibly magnificent fantasy about two soulmates from two different time periods who were thrown into each other's path by some God, the Jade Emperor. Kai was an imprisoned earth dragon, a weapon the Jade Emperor let out whenever there was whatever needed to be killed. That was his sole purpose of existence. His being let out in this story was disguised as going on a non sense (in my opinion) quest! So he was suddenly somewhere before the known Viking Age!

Now all the fun began! Odin had ordered, Eir, his favorite Valkyrie, for the final time to bring Kai's soul to Valhalla, or else! This was absolutely Eir's last chance to make her move!

The author's signature of hot steamy sex scenes as well as furious battle scenes were delivered! However, I was totally captivated by Kai & Eir's discovery of who they really were. That he was a dragon who learned to love. And a dragon's love was everlasting.

Here's the heart stopping happy ending ~ the True Quest ~ so to speak:

With deepest gratitude to the Incomparable Aja James 💝 For a copy of My ARC 🙇🏽‍♀️ The above is an honest review from my heart.

What do you get you take one scarred, brutish alpha dragon man and cross him with a headstrong, sword-swingin', badass Valkyrie? A LOT OF HOT SEX. That's what.

This book is jam-packed with steamy action, but there's a lot happening plot-wise. Ere and Sorin are sent back to Viking times in search of another vague, inexplicable oddity. (Thanks, Jade Emperor.)

This time their companion is Ere's old friend, Kai. I loved himmmm! I loved how he barely spoke, but always made himself clear. I loved how under his rough, tough exterior he was a big ol' softie.

And when Eir turns up... he comes out of his shell and shows her that soft side of himself. SWOON!

This book brings everything we've come to expect with Aja James: sexy sexiness sexing sexytimes, a hot MMC, a kickass FMC, our old pals Ere & Sorin, an epic battle, and a fated love that transcends space and time!

Another fantastic story.
I could have ended just there. It would summarise perfectly what happens in Wish of Dragons. But it wouldn’t really do justice to the thrilling adventure in the book, would it? No.
I was amazed by the evolution both in Kai’s and Eir’s characters.
Kai goes from badass dragon, cold blooded killer who doesn’t give a shit about anything or anyone to a lovable sweet human male who melts everyone’s hearts. And Eir, another fantastic female character, a strong warrior, death angel who collects souls and helps them fulfill their destiny?… Well, she goes from badass relentless cold death bringer to an unsure female who cannot believe her male us in love with her… But their love will bring them together and make them happy just because they deserve it.
Epic fights, an unexpected teamwork between our heroes and humans, boiling lava love making, Ere and Sorin still “in love and kicking”!
L-O-V-E-D I-T!!!
Aja, if I were a religious woman, you’d forever be in my prayers!🤗

Another wondrous action filled adventure !

I absolutely love the wonderful storylines, unique, epic, and filled with adventure, battles, mystery and romance. But The sexual descriptions are a little too raw and explicit for my taste. I wish it was a bit more R rated than X .

4.5 stars✨

“Remember me, I remember you.
Love me, I love you”

Aja never ceases to amaze me, this book had me on chokehold from the beginning till the very last word. All of her stories have a special place in my heart, and I feel so honoured that she shared an ARC with me.

“ they would remake their Destiny.”

So we are taken on another quest to find the Wish of Wonder, with Ere and Sori, yayyy! I was kinda hesitant because Aja shot us with two characters that were kinda similar and I am all for opposites attract like Rui and Wolfe, Divina and Andros and my favourite Ere and Sorin. So I really didn’t know what to expect from both badass, warrior, dominant characters. But it is Aja freaking James so I continued even though the beginning was a bit slow for me to get into but in true fashion I was quickly hooked, line and sinker

“Love conquers all; let us too yield to love.”

Are we also going to talk about how she keeps making me love these new characters and ages.
Eir is a new female heroine she reminds me of a little bit of the heroines in Pure/ Dark Ones but also completely different. She was giving us warrioress, badass vibes with hint of soft which I totally love.I have read several books with ‘her species’ very few have blown me away but she went to the top of my ‘her species’ list.

“For every win, someone must fail”

Kai made me swoon because he reminded me of Sorin, and how he interacted with Eir especially in his drunken scene, like damn I want that. Kai is my perfect interpretation of a viking, big, brawny, tough exterior yet softer towards Eir.
Ere and Sorin were my favourite as always ,I will literally love them forever.

“Never reproach another for his love: It happens often enough
That beauty ensnares with desire the wise. While the foolish remain unmoved.”
—The Eddic poem Havamal”

Don’t get me wrong this book totally deserves more than 5 stars but my reason for giving it 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars is because I am obsessed with slowburn, tension and beating around the bush, this book didn’t have much of it thats why it isn’t a 5 star read for me.

“Not every cloud which darkens the day brings rain.”
— Heitharvega Saga”

Aja James has created a new world that I am completely loving right now, and I honestly cannot wait for more.

The sandglass flows again, and a new task has been ordered by the Jade Emperor.
So begins the third tale in this completely addictive series of compulsively readable adventures through time.

The command: to find the Wish of Wonders.

Ere and Sorin are paired with Earth Dragon Kai a comrade in arms from Ere’s past who will play an integral part in this game of Gods as will Valkyrie, Eir who joins them during the quest and whose ties to Kai have existed through many lifetimes. A grand opus soon unfolds, a great love soon revealed.
I truly enjoy how the author takes the many threads of the narrative and weaves them into such an imaginative story of action, mesmerizing characters and passionate all-consuming love.
True love that never demands a sacrifice but when one is called for is given freely from deep within the heart and soul with no thought for oneself or profit and gain. Extraordinary story telling!

I received an ARC copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

DNF Review:

Wish of Dragons was a story I was originally excited for especially with how much I loved book 2! But I am sad and truly heartbroken that I had to DNF my first Aja James. If you loved this book, then I hope you don't take offense, I am not trying to demean how you felt about this book and I think its wonderful if this book worked for you. But this book just wasn't going my way. My primary issue.....was the heroine. The first meeting that she and our hero have with each other truly made me ill. I just couldn't keep going because it gave me a "ick" vibe with impressions of being sexually abusive and manipulative. I am not a fan of these type of kick ass heroines to be honest and the hero deserved better in my eye. I expect my heroines to have better behavior especially in how they treat the hero.

Overall this was a great disappointment and one of the greatest disappointments I have ever read as I do love all the things of Vikings. Crossing fingers the next book will be better for me.

What can I say about Kai... Such a gentle soul he had. The many reincarnations he had to go through of suffering for so long. Being held prisoner after each had to be miserable. Although in a different realm it never really mattered until his mate was found.

And to have Ere as a travel companion who can talk anyone's head off is just too funny. I simply enjoy this spin-off just to see what annoyance Ere will be bringing to this story. And his mate Sorin (poor thing) can do nothing, but love his mate. Thinking back to Ere's past life I'm feeling that he is making up for all the times he's really hurt others. Even if his past transgressions were not so happy I think he enjoys the many excursions JE sends him on to being the many wishes back even if they are not the right wish.

I thought the action here was good and found myself googling names to read up on some of quarrels that happening in that era was beautifully written. I could never imaging an author having such creativity to research history soooo long before anyone time and never a history I would have ventured. ♥

And then the sexy scenes were the hottest as always. 😉

What masterpiece will AJ write next. ☺

First thanks to Aja for the opportunity to read this book I absolutely love the series. Well our favorite duo Ere and Sorin are off on another adventure this time for a wish of wonder and almong with them this time is Kai a earth dragon. Kai is the long lost brother of Ere back when was Rai back in the age of gods. They won the battle then and thought that neither would ever see the other again so it came as quite the surprise that Kai has been at the Celestial Palace all this time doing the bidding of the Jade Emperor. Kai has been used as nothing more than a weapon for millennia in many incarnations. When Kai isn’t fighting wherever the Jade Emperor has sent him he is put into stasis where he is aware but cannot move so he enjoys the time he has when he is out even when he knows he is bound to die, but at the moment of his death is the only time he truly feels alive and it’s all because of a pair of green eyes that he sees in the moment of his death.
On this adventure that the trio has been sent on the meet a Valkyrie named Eir. Eir has been charged with one objective to get the soul of earth dragon Kai for Odin to have him as a warrior in Valhalla for the battle for the end of worlds. So far Eir has been able to stay her hand each time she has met the earth dragon in death but this time she has been told to get Kai for Odin or suffer the consequences of her failure. Eir has never had a problem collecting a soul for Valhalla so what is it about this one that stays her hand? Will Eir find the answer to her question or find the answer to a question she never thought to ask in the first place.
Will the unlikely duo of Kai and Eri find a love to last through the ages or will it all be the hallowed halls of Valhalla for the warrior that never has had someone to call his own. Will this unlikely team be the heroes and retrieve the wish of wonder or will they fail in their quest?
Join them on the quest that will have you on the edge just waiting for what’s around the bend as they search for the wish of wonder.

This another sweet story of fated love & epic adventure.

Mind, no Aja James story is complete with out Erebu and his frenetic antics and sparkling personality. Erebu is the Bomb! 💣💣💣❣️ ‘Nough said about the BMOC.

On to the rest of the work at large. Great storytelling and world building. Aja James has really honed her skills in these areas and has become quite adept at creating surprising workarounds to make to story go where it should and still remain true to the world building rules initially laid out for this series. Yes you still have to suspend your disbelief as with any creative work. It just how things go. If a reader can’t do that then they should just give up reading any type of fiction.

Fabulously funny (did I mention Erebu is a sarcastic, witty and at times droll).

Kai with a snoot full of mead is heartbreaking and heartwarming. Add that Kai looks like a Viking and is a Dragon to boot! Whoa Nelly! Swing that axe my way! 😍

Eir is clearly clueless at the start, but she starts to get the picture with a few choice interactions from our beloved Erebu and her Valkyrie sister Mist.

All in all a great read. You do not want to miss it.

Now that all the good stuff is out of the way I will quickly mention the not so bad, no need to belabour. Punctuation is atrocious. Get Grammerly girl! Over used phrasing, e.g.: ‘like no tomorrow,’ ‘every fiber of his/her/their being,’ etc… Over use of the same word in a sentence. I noticed one sentence had the word ‘closer’ in it three times! I may sound picky & maybe it is just because I have spent the past 2 & 1/2 years giving myself carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists getting my MA in Military Psychology & have had my own writing picked apart that I do this now. These issues are minor and easily overcome and do not take away from the book by any means. They are helpful suggestions about polishing and putting a spit shine on the work.

Wish of Dragons is a solid read with deep characters, adventure, searing passion, and some good laughs. Bet you wish you were reading it right now. 😉

It's another great story that the amazing Aja ! As always Ere and Sorin are amazing and wonderful and all of that!! Kai was so strong, sweet and his story so sad. Eir was bad@ss and didn't know love. It took while for these two to finally come together because Eir fought her feelings but when they did it was amazing. I can't wait for the next one.

Interesting. This is the 3rd (of 9!) entry, and while it follows a similar structure, there are a couple of intriguing differences. First, the sex is intense and almost constant at the end. I'm not complaining. There is also a lot of discussion and angst about deep and fated love, which was a bit heavy but also heartfelt. Second, the plot among the gods is almost secondary.

As one of the main characters points out, these quests are random to the point of annoyance. The interaction with the Norse gods felt like an afterthought, especially at the end.

But I'll probably read the next one.
