Read this volume in 1994 and re-reading it again in 2021. This is a heavy duty book and better used as a reference text. Read it to get acquainted with the ideas that Dr Gooding wrote about ; especially the concept of complex yet highly creative layout of the Gospel.

Be amazed about the details that the Apostle Luke put into the literary structure - arranging historical accounts and parables and conversations in fine order. Did Luke really wrote with such detailed craft ? Or did the Holy Spirit who inspired Luke moved the writer's hand? Or a combination of man and God at work ?

This is a good reference tool. A pragmatic way to use this treasure chest is to start by reading the charts - dive into the section of Luke's Gospel that one is interested in. A very good start is the chart describing the 10 sections around the birth of Jesus. Read and be intrigued.

Good read and good re-read.
