I got this book in audio format, and I’m really happy I did. If I hadn’t, I most likely would have read 2 chapters, and then got bored.

Let me start this off by saying— I bought this audiobook after hearing Dr.Alloway on a podcast, and thinking she was absolutely brilliant. She mentioned her book and I thought it must be so empowering to know more about how women think from such a smart specialist.

I am no clinical psychologist but I am a psychology student, and in my personal opinion Dr. Alloway over-generalized every statement in this book (while trying to disprove over-generalizations). She fell victim to hand picking studies that supported her agenda for this book. While I think that the structure and approach to this book was set up for success, it was executed poorly.

For example: *roughly summarized* “myth: women are more emotional than men. It showed in this study that they aren’t. Men and women use different parts of their brain in distressed decision making”

This is basically the structure for every chapter of this book. All of the generalizations that I didn’t believe about women, aren’t true. Wow.

There are better books to read that achieved the goal this book was looking to do. But moreover, maybe Dr. Alloway does better in one hour podcasts.

If you believe women are inferior, and have never studied any field of psychology before, or just popped out of a time machine from the 1800’s, this book might enlighten you.

Nothing earth-shattering here -- and not filled with research that makes me totally trust the reliability and validity of the book. I'm always on the lookout for books that can inform my parenting of my daughter (9 at this writing) and son (6), and that can help me in my work as a high school English teacher. This was a quick read, but I didn't feel that it added value to my knowledge base about how our brains work and how to make them work better / more efficiently and effectively.

This book was a quick read that touched on some of the science behind how women are biologically built and socially conditioned to think differently than men.

I loved learning a little bit more about why we think the way we do. I definitely recommend for women leaders and anyone career-focused.

The only reasons I didn’t give 5 stars were 1) this book barely touched the surface of many of the topics covered. A slightly more in-depth review would have been nice, and 2) I think men need to hear these concepts just as much as women....I’m slightly disappointed that this book seems to be marketed exclusively to women.

Overall, definitely enlightening and worth the read.

Thank you to Zondervan for the advanced reading copy.

Fluffy pop-psychology; kind of a disappointment; I've read meatier books on similar subjects. Also, my eyes glaze over anytime there is an anecdotal story in a self-help (or similar) book; I really do not care about what Stacey was doing in your office or how your friend Tina deals with her issues at work—maybe this is a failing of my female(?) brain; I think these kinds of stories are supposed to make self-help (et al.) books relatable or help illustrate the points or something. For me, they don't. (Mumbles something about function of prefrontal cortex vs. amygdala when reading non-narrative nonfiction.)

Think Like a Girl is a powerful and thought-provoking read that debunks the myths surrounding women's brains and leadership abilities. This book presents a compelling case for the unique strengths of women's brains and offers practical strategies for harnessing them to make a positive impact in the world. She also challenges the notion that women have to act like men to be effective leaders, showing that a more relationship-centric approach can actually be better for mental health. Overall, Think Like a Girl is a must-read for anyone looking to cultivate a growth mindset!!

Didn’t learn anything that I didn’t already know but it was a good read. It reinforced what I already knew but need to practice more and aided in boosting my positive self talk. I also liked that the information provided was not only motivational, but also backed by studies and science. I liked the summaries at the end of each chapter which help in case you missed the information being delivered. Good read!

I really enjoyed this book. It's written in a way that's both fascinating for those with a psychology background and those outside the field. The book has several ways to make a woman's brain work for her and approaches it from the angle of empowerment. In a world where women are still fighting to be heard this book says, "I hear you and I'm with you".

There were parts I really liked, particularly the chapters on leadership. There were other parts that seemed very obvious and not really necessary. Overall, I found it worth the read.

Just ok for me. There were a few good tidbits in the book, but overall it wasn’t as content rich as I was hoping for.

Idk if I didn’t like this book bc I typically don’t like this genre or because of the writing style. It did have some good aspects but either way, I probably wouldn’t recommend.

Read this if you want to be told all about how women need to just be more like men and people who are not christian are mentally ill. I would burn it, but it belongs to the library. Thank the gods that I didn't waste money on this crap.

Much more simplistic than I expected and the advice was quite obvious.
