When Audrey catches her fiancé kissing his assistant right before their wedding, her whole life is turned upside down. Determined to start over, and figure out what she really wants for herself, she sets out on their honeymoon to Dragon Island Hideaway Resort with her best friend. The cute resort manager, Hayden, seems like just the thing to help her get over her heartbreak, but when she touches him, it ignites a flame in both of them.
Dragon shifter Hayrian has no intention of getting involved in a relationship, especially not right now. If his clan’s risk of exposure, and his responsibility to run his parent’s resort in their absence, weren’t enough, he knows that he couldn’t tell a potential mate who he really is. He hadn’t counted on meeting Audrey. He wants to break through her calm and collected exterior, and help her realise that some men can be trusted.
But with his parents away, and the resort seemingly falling apart around him, can he find time to convince her he’s different?
Dragon Waves is book 2 in the Escape to Dragon Island series.
Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)
She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!
They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.
Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.
Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

Dragon Waves by Rinelle Grey is the latest book in the Dragon Island Hideaway series. I especially like this series because the humans don’t know the people they are falling in love with are not completely human. Audrey has spent 5 years with Mark. Her life is organized, controlled, and a little dull. They are to be married. Then right before the wedding, Audrey finds Mark lip locked with his assistant. Naturally, she calls off the wedding, but ends up going on the honeymoon with her best friend instead of the jerk. There she meets Hayden, or Hayrian to his dragon family. He has absolutely no interest in mating. He’s too young, too busy, too everything. It all it takes is touching Audrey’s hand and his heart is having second thoughts about everything. And Audrey is shocked. She just broke up her wedding, she shouldn’t be attracted to another man so soon, should she? But there’s common sense and then there’s dragon magic. Dragon magic that lets you know when you’ve found your one true love. And dragons are just so hot and nice and caring. Even better for me, as I read about Audrey being drawn out of her shell, I too was being drawn out of mine. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a dragon around to do it! It was fun to see both of us blossom and grow as I read the story. The author really knows how to grow her characters and tell a fascinating story! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I think this is my kind of resort, dragons not withstanding but it would be a peaceful quiet place filled with beauty.
Audrey is a human woman who was supposed to marry a Senator however she caught him locking lips with his assistant. She then discovered he only wanted her for improving his appearance. Hurt and angry she goes on their planned honeymoon with her bestie.
It is there upon arriving at the resort where she meets Hayden aka Hayrian a dragon shifter. He is the son of resort owners he sees beyond her appearance to the sadness within. He is so drawn to her and wanting to drive away the pain that he soon discovers who she is to him.
This is so well written that it just pulls you in to their lives and feelings. I cannot wait until the other siblings have their stories told.
This is Hayrian “Hayden” and Audrey’s story. I missed book one in this series, but thoroughly enjoyed this second book. I was glad to see that even though Audrey was devastated by her fiancé’s cheating, it led her to the man truly meant for her. Of course, not everything runs smooth. How do you deal with finding out the man you’re attracted to is a dragon? One thing I love about these different series by Rinelle Grey are the dragons and the human mates they find. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes dragons. I’m going to read book one and look forward to the next book in this series. I received an advance reader copy of this book, which I have voluntarily reviewed and given my honest opinion.
Another sweet story by Rinelle Grey! I loved learning about Hayrian and Audrey. Although she met him under the dark cloud of finding out her ex-fiancé is cheating, the silver lining was definitely well worth the heartache! I really enjoy reading about all the dragons the Author has shared with us and am looking forward to many more in the future!!
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
I just love this series! I bet this happens more often than we realise. Oh, not the dragon thing but the cheating before the wedding thing. It always makes me sad the way people cheat and lie but, at least in this instance, there is an ending to die for! Rinelle Grey writes terrific stories that you just can't help getting dragged into and spat out at the end (well, in a good way). lol I just can't wait to read more in this series.
Love this book, this is the second book in this series. Each book.can be read in its own. Haitian is a Dragon & he wants to have a test from doing all the work why his Brother is away. Audrey was meant to be.married & her time in the Island was meant to be her honeymoon but she caught Mike kissing Lauren on the day of her wedding. When she first meets Haitian she not.sure.she.can trust him!
Cute and entertaining self-contained story. Sometimes destiny has a plan even if it hurts to get there. This is an enjoyable story to read. I just wish there was a bit more in the end to explain about the senator and the talks and where they are at with them. But it wasn't something that was needed to enjoy this story.
I’m not sure why shapeshifters are so fascinating but this book doesn’t disappoint. This entire series is a great story all combined so don’t start or stop with this book. I’m looking forward to more dragon story.
BEAUTIFUL STORY Lovely holiday romance to sooth and balm a broken spirit. This is a sweet story of love and life, l really enjoyed it and looking forward to more in this series. Recommended series🤓
This is the second book in the series. It is an easy fun read. If you'll looking for a stress free, fun read, this is it. No surprises and happy endings. It is reference to The Return of the dragons series. Reviewed by Jennifer Bolla
