In this debut novella Jasmine is a twenty two year old who has been left to take care of her younger sister. When she is witness to a murder. Her boss comes to her rescue. he vows to protect her and keep her safe. She never counted on falling in love with her boss.
I picked up this book after seeing an author I follow had read it and reviewed it favorably. I want to start by saying that this book has a lot of heart. I can see the love and care that went into it, and as such, I cannot dock stars. However, I would like to add some hopefully helpful hints and constructive criticism. The most glaring issue with this work was very inconsistent grammar and formatting. That is not generally a deal-breaker for me, but it could easily be much improved in this case. It's clear that an editor and proofreader were not used here. If the reason to omit them was cost, then sophisticated grammar software such as Grammarly would make all the difference here and is a much more affordable investment. Going forward, I'd recommend something like that for this author because the last thing anyone wants is reviews that gripe about grammar rather than story. But incorrect usage of your and you're, incomplete sentences, awkward paragraphing throughout, etc., do take away from reading the story. Overall, I enjoyed the characters and story.
Very spicy and fun crime/romance novella. You root for the main character, Jasmine. She is a principled and caring young woman thrust not only into the role of caretaker, but is also pushed into a decades-old mafia feud. Daimen is a sexy and formidable romantic lead, and I enjoyed little Maddie. I’ll def be picking up the next in the series after the very intriguing plot twist introduced at the end of this one.
This first installment in the Whims series is a great start to a new Mafia romance series. Although there are some typographical errors, they don't detract from the story. I loved Daimen and Jasmine's story. Who's next...Marco? One can hope!
This was a lovely short story between Jasmine and Daimen, and you can help but root for them throughout. Especially Jasmine with the way she took in Maddie. I loved the friendship Marco and Maddie had, it really brought a smile to my face. I definitely wasn’t expecting the cliffhanger at the end of the book, it’s left me excited to read book 2 when it comes out. Going forward for the author, I would definitely suggest getting an editor or proofreader as there is a bunch of grammar mistakes throughout which unfortunately I found to be quite distracting.
