Exactly what it says it is. My husband and I visited the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum over a month ago, and there were a few exhibits that weren't open or that we didn't take as much time in as I would have liked, due to overcrowding or other issues. Add to that the fact that some exhibits simply have a lot of information that is difficult to take in or retain while standing there, and this book was a great resource to fill in any gaps or give me a reminder of the information displayed throughout the museum. And while some signs will have more impact if one is able to see the full exhibit, for anyone who is unable to visit the museum, this book provides a very good understanding of the information in the museum.

A PRESENTATION OF THE ACTUAL EXHIBITS AT THE AIG ‘CREATION MUSEUM’

The Introduction to this 2021 book by Tim Chaffey explains, “I have been blessed with the opportunity to develop the signage for many of the exhibits at the Creation Museum… these signs teach the biblical worldview, defend the Scriptures, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ… I regularly consult with specialists on the topics addressed in the exhibits… Each exhibit is the result of countless hours of brainstorming, planning, research, design, and construction… There are several interesting challenges presented by each exhibit… How much information can go on each sign? … we have a serious responsibility to make sure God’s Word is handled faithfully. Thus, every word … undergoes a thorough review process.” (Pg. 4-5)

Here are some examples of the signs:
“STARLIGHT: … How quickly did light travel to earth from distant stars? *Some use the speed of light and extrapolate into the past for billions of years. *Biblical creationists have developed models to explain how light from the stars reached the earth in a short timeframe… when astronomers study starlight… they are looking at the light … after it has been affected by cosmic dust and gravity as it traveled through space.” (Pg. 22)

“MOST RELIABLE DATING METHOD: Without question, consulting a reliable eyewitness is the best method to discover the age of something… The Bible provides God’s eyewitness testimony of how and when He created the earth… His Word is the infallible source of information regarding the age of the earth.” (Pg. 30)

“THE GREAT APE KIND: …over 50 extinct species are known to have existed before and during the Ice Age. Despite this variation, members of this group have always been distinct from people… the australopithecines shared a greater likeness to other apes than humans… ‘Lucy’ is the .. most famous specimen of Australopithecus afarensis… Lucy’s species is classified as non-human.” (Pg. 35)

“ARE THERE GAPS IN THE GENESIS GENEALOGIES? Some Christians have attempted to add long periods of time to the Bible by asserting that gaps of indeterminate length could be added to the genealogies of Genesis 5 and 11. We know gaps exist in certain biblical genealogies, such as Matthew 1, but gaps of time cannot be added to the Genesis 5 and 11 genealogies because the text explains how old each person was when their son was born. For example, Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born, and Seth was 105 when Enosh was born. So even if it were possible to insert an extra generation or two in between Adam and Seth it would not change the timeline---Adam was still 130 years old when Seth was born.” (Pg. 51)

“COULD GOD HAVE USED EVOLUTION? God is holy and loving and tells us that death is an enemy. So how could He create all life using a process like evolution, a philosophy of death that requires the suffering, disease, and death of trillions of creatures for billions of years?” (Pg. 83)

“CARNIVORES: … Though all animals ate plants before Adam’s sin, some are carnivores in this present fallen world. We do not know how meat eating first entered the world. Possibilities include: * Changed Diet (the diet of some animals merely changed *Revealed information (the potential for meat eating was place into the original creation, but not revealed after the Curse. By removing the weakest and diseased, carnivores help keep the fallen world functioning despite sin.” (Pg. 104)

“WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DINOSAURS?...There are still many mysteries surrounding dinosaurs. We know they are specific types of land animals that were created on Day 6 along with man, but they have since gone extinct. So we are left to wonder what happened to them. How did a group of animals that left fossilized footprints on every continent eventually cease to exist? The fossils contain clues about these mysteries, but we still don’t know the whole story.” (Pg. 130)

“RAFTING: When the Flood destroyed the world’s forests, it must have left billions of trees floating for centuries on the ocean. These log mats served as ready made rafts for animals to cross oceans. The paths of ocean currents, carrying these rafts, would explain: similar animals and plants on opposite side of oceans… places of high diversity (probable landing sites).” (Pg. 145)

This book will appeal to Young-Earth creationists.

This book is a must if you make a trip to The Creation Museum. If you take in everything on your visit (like the Planetarium, various tours and presentations), then you probably won’t have time to also read every sign. It’s also difficult to read many signs if you have smaller children along. Therefore, this is a great companion to your visit. It’s also a great book to have even if you haven’t visited, as it provides lots of information in an easy to understand and visually appealing format.

Excellent book of all the exhibit signs used in the Answers in Genesis: Creation Museum In Kentucky. Unless you have a lot time to spend there reading everything, plus an excellent memory there is no way to truly get the whole benefit of the experience. Thus, the benefit of this book, especially for future reference.

So much information packed into one resource. This contains a whole museum of their exhibit signs. Each area is well researched and presents a godly world view. It helps solidify Why I believe what I do and the biblical foundations.
