'Sorta' Scary Sea Creatures

The ten sea creatures depicted in this book are characterized as ‘SORTA’ scary meaning that they look far scarier than they actually are to humans. They are more likely to be scared of us that we should be of them and are typically not harmful unless we disturb them or accidently ‘bump into’ them. Having said that, the pain they inflict from their sting or bite can be severe and may require medical attention. Only rarely have encounters with creatures shown in the book resulted in life-threatening situations. The bubble text in each illustration is intended to capture the key moment of the encounter in an amusing way. The text accompanying the images on the opposite page is meant to offer some fun facts to educate young (and maybe some older) readers about the anatomy, the life history and their relationship with people that make these creatures ‘sorta’ scary. Look out for the creature at the end which REALLY is scary! Note: A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this book will go to marine conservation.
