The world of Sturgeon and T J Lea’s writing was something completely new to me before this book, and this by no means detracted from the experience and lore contained within this intoxicating novella.

You are thrown into this alluring, dynamic world with Nelle at it’s head: fierce yet fragile, this woman guides you through the story with graceful vigor and determination. Each character is a story within themselves, with strong, diverse voices and amusing quirks to match.

The story and twists are visceral and at times gory, the balance constantly resting on a knife-edge. The book effortlessly plucked emotions from me with a bittersweet finish that left me wanting. This is an invaluable story in a wonderful universe full of intrigue, and I cannot wait for the next book. I have no doubts that T J’s writing will improve with every keystroke, and expand mercilessly on Sturgeon’s disturbing and inspiring world.

Gripping from cover to cover

I read along with the narration on YouTube so there is some bias there, but every time a new Sturgeon story comes up, my heart races with anticipation. This author is a genius and I cannot wait for more people to experience their genius. From the world building, to the writing, the compelling characters, the layers of interconnected stories brought together from all corners of the map, to the brilliant narrations found in youtube thanks to their friends like The Dark Somnium, Dodge the Grave, Romnex, Spirit Voices, and more. This vibrant community coupled with a master wordsmith is a journey I stumbled upon, and never wish to leave. 💚💚💚💚
