This could be the most important mission of Nameless’s life. Because it’s putting him on a collision course with his own past and the nation’s future.
The target: a fortified redoubt in the golden hills of California, the hub of a new world order that’s unthinkably close at hand. The time has come for Nameless to face its designer: the nihilist mastermind behind the One Solution. It’s also time for Nameless to discover who he is and was, and what brought him to this fateful endgame. But will the truth be a breaking point? Or a turning point?

This is the sixth and final story in Season Two of the "Nameless" series. In this book we finally find out about Ace of Diamonds and about Nameless’ past when he gets his memory back. A really good conclusion to the "Nameless" series.
This is a short story that is part of a series. This is actually the second season of this series. These stories must be read in order. In this one, Nameless learns the story behind Ace and he also confronts the people behind the attacks he has been seeing in his visions.
I haven't been the biggest fan of this series and I find it somewhat amusing that the final entry of both seasons is the one I actually enjoy the most. This is the one I have been waiting for as this one finally felt like I was reading a story by Koontz. We get the answers that we have been waiting for the character Nameless and his mission to save humanity. These answers were typical Koontz as the characters find hope in the face of tremendous tragedy. It was also vintage Koontz as we get part techno thriller and part good versus evil story. The ending is what sold it for as I would have never guessed that this is how the series would conclude.
At times, I wondered if Koontz was actually behind these stories. The writing seemed different from one story to the next and I believe this was a major reason why this series didn't hit home for me. That being said, this one did as it reminded me why Dean Koontz is my favorite author. This was a terrific finale.
The ending of Nameless. I loved his character in the entire series. In this one he ends the threat of the Totalitarianism movement, gets his memory back and discovers who Ace is. I'm not spoiling the ending. Series two is a quick read.
Zero In is the 6th book and last addition to Nameless: Season Two.
I thought it was an okay read but it has the same issues as the other books in this series. They aren't long enough to give me more substance and depth to the plot with the shadow organization of "One Solution".
In the case of Zero In, everything is so neatly resolved with the character of Nameless and the organization.
It's too perfect in my opinion.
There's no struggle, unease or drama to make the reader feel like the situation is a big freaking deal. And it is a big freaking deal to stop this shadow organization but it's all so bland with the execution of the ending and solving the questions of Nameless's past.
Am I an adrenaline and drama junkie?
No. But as a reader, I want more than just "meh" for an ending.
I don’t know what else to say except WOW. Ok 😅 I have a few things to say , I wasn’t expecting it to end this way but I guess it’s true “good things come to an end too” in this series good is very subjective to the reader but not the MC . Without spoiling it …….. I hope “the man who is” finds peace 🤍. This was a great series and my overall rating is a 5+
And so the story of Nameless comes to an end and all the strands are now tied up. What do I think - well it is a satisfying end to the saga however rather like my comments about episode 5 I think that it was not classic Dean Koontz (and I cannot rain enough praise down on Midnight, Lightening and watchers).
However and I am sure I will draw some controversy over this - I think it was far too quick to the ending. Yes I will agree that in hindsight there were a limited number of options without the story losing its impact but at the end of the day we have gone through two seasons with 6 books a piece and the whole thing is wrapped up in the latter part of a 66 page instalment - I have read chapters longer than that.
Now I will dial it down and say this was a fun series as the instalments were fast and fun to read and honestly I would have read a lot more of them and enjoyed them just as much - I just felt when I came to the end was, okay that was a bit sudden lets go back and re-read that in case I missed something. So yes I enjoyed other books by Dean a lot more but to be honest this has enticed me back to pick up his books again so it cannot be all bad?
“You can access your past only if the amnesia crumbles and falls away naturally, as a consequence of a series of small but escalating revelations or because of one that’s big and shattering. What you’re about to experience is a sledgehammer, a wrecking ball. I’d be against subjecting you to it if your next mission wasn’t so desperate and if it didn’t require you to have the fullest sense of who you are and how you got to this moment.” - Howard Augustine
——
“There is no place here, only everyplace. There is no heat or cold, no fragrance or stench, no bitter taste or sweet. There is always light and the everyplace that is the internet, and there is much time to think, but there is no one to be with and therefore no one to be.” - Ace of Diamonds
This story wraps up the whole series. When we finally learn who Nameless is and why he does what he does, I felt satisfied. When it comes to wrapping up the whole cause that Nameless has been fighting against, I’m a little disappointed. I felt closure, but for me it was rushed at the end. I think Koontz could have slowed down a bit and added a couple more chapters, and given a few more details. All in all, I liked the whole series and I think it would make a very good television series.
No Time To Die starring Nameless Review of the Amazon Original Kindle eBook edition (June 2021)
Nameless learns about his past and discovers the secret behind his controller Ace of Diamonds. He sets out on the mission to destroy the Triskelion organization. Most of the mysteries of the series are finally revealed here and it enters into the realm of science fiction as well.
Overall I did enjoy the Second Season more than the First as there was at least a progression and revealing of the back story instead of the repetitive nature of the vigilante missions in the early series.
Zero In is the 6th & final of the 6 short stories making up the crime fiction series Nameless Season 2, released simultaneously on June 10, 2021 as an eBook by Amazon Originals and as an audiobook by Audible Originals.
That was a great ending to this series. It explained everything, tied things up with a bow, and gave closure. It was a rather bittersweet conclusion but I don’t think it could have gone any other way. Very enjoyable.
I've read all the books in this series. Koontz once again really make me think. This series was frightening in how it mirrors some of what seems to have been transpiring in our country. His writing is brilliant and frightening at the same time!
This entire series would have been much better as a book or two, where the main character could be fully developed. In place of that the author felt it necessary to share the exact same few pieces of information about him over and over in every single story, as if the reader couldn't be trusted to remember the simplest of facts from one episode to the next. It was annoying and took a lot away from what could have been a decent story.
I wish we'd learned what happened with The One Solution, but I'm assuming Nameless and Ace took care of everything, even though it wasn't mentioned specifically.
I wonder if this will be made into a movie. It would be interesting.
It would be especially satisfying if certain people in our government met someone like Nameless.
These two seasons were definitely worth the read, although season 1 was definitely the better.
A great series of stories by the very talented Dean Koontz. They can be taken individually or as a unit, but Mr Koontz spins his tales as intricately as a fine painting. I enjoyed each and every story of lust, greed, madness, and power hungry people who find a surprise waiting for them.
Not much to say, this last book felt both rushed and underwhelming. I enjoyed the writing but how this series turned out and ended let me disappointed.
This great short story series ends with a bang!!! This is it for Nameless. I’m not a spoiler ever so I can’t say much less I give away this amazing ending. So I will simply say all is revealed to us the reader and to Nameless but to what end?
After two years, Nameless finally gets to meet his partner, Ace of Diamonds. He also learns more about who he really is. He is determined to bring down One Solution. Once again, Koontz has created characters I care about. I really enjoyed this short series.
The first series was better - seemed to have more oomph to it. The 2nd series especially this last book was as if Koontz was trying to tie up loose ends quicker than you can say doomsday. Actually a real let down overall
The problem with these three entries in the Nameless series is that they are wrapping up many of the interesting mysteries that have been growing during the series, but they do not (to me) do so in a satisfying manner. The pacing is not great, probably partly because something that should have been a novel is divided into three parts. The first two have little action in them, unlike the rest of the series, because these three, and perhaps the last part of Kaleidoscope should really be a novel, but taking them together, they are not paced well as a novel, either. Also, in Zero In, the final resolution and the part leading up to it were too quick. The resolution itself was unsatisfying,
If you are reading all of the Nameless series, of course you will read these last ones. They aren't bad, they are just unsatisfying. Not well thought out.
Strange that I am disliking some of these new Dean Koontz. I also disliked The Other Emily for pacing and inadequate conclusion, although I liked very much another new one, Devoted. I assume this is because he's 75 or thereabouts, so others are helping write them.
Read some of his older books. I particularly liked Watchers.
It was a nice distracting lil jaunt, the entire series, some better than others but worth it, especially if you find yourself in a reading slump. This last book was just as short as the rest and felt so abrupt when the end came. I understand why, but it doesn't change that I wish it would have been longer or that I quite say BOOOOO to the conclusion. 😅 A petty three star because I'm being a brat, perhaps it'll be a four when I calm down.
