Nameless is wrestling with more violent visions of the future when his next mission comes with the assurance, This one will be easy. It’s a promise that leaves Nameless dangerously unprepared.

It seems straightforward enough: Get a foot in the door by posing as a potential investor in a lucrative underground business—then bring the place down from the inside. There’s more here than meets the eye. What it triggers in Nameless is uncontrollable rage and brutal retribution. What it reveals is a clue to his forgotten past. Is it a breach on his handler’s part? Or a test? Either way, something’s not right.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz comes Kaleidoscope, part of Season 2 of Nameless, a gripping collection of stories about a man in search of the truth, the past, and those who owe a debt of blood. Follow him through each story, which can be read or listened to in a single sitting.

The third story in Season Two of the “Nameless” series. Nameless has no memory and gets his assignments from the mysterious Ace of Diamonds. He has been getting unpleasant and violent visons of the future. He also has an assignment that deals with evil dog breeders. Another interesting read in the Nameless series.

This continues the second season of this short story series. In this one, Nameless visits a dog breeder that cares more about numbers than the welfare of the dogs. There is more to this operation than meets the eye.

This was a definitely a step up from the previous offering. This was an improvement in all areas. First off this was an operation that wasn't ridiculous in nature and vindictive. Which is ironic because this is the one I wouldn't have minded the vindictiveness because you just don't mess around with animals. I am also glad that we moved on the overall arc as we make progress on that and it is not just a dark cloud hanging in the sky. We also had progression with Nameless as a character. Those two points were a real sticking point for me in the last story and I am glad they were addressed. This short story seemed like it belonged to the overall arc and not just a side mission. The side missions are starting to feel like they are just filler episodes in your favorite television show.

While it wasn't the greatest story it did restore my faith somewhat in this series. I haven't been the biggest fan from the very beginning. I don't know if it is the short story format or for most of the time it seems like we are going nowhere. The last offering made me consider if I wanted to continue. This made me feel like I do as I jump right into the next story.

Revealing

Dean Koontz is such a great storyteller. I received the Second Nameless series free from the author . Nameless has the terrible visions of the new world, violence and killing of innocent people, untold horror. He is having things revealed to him by Ace regarding who he truly is. Now he's given a choice to discover the truth or continue with no memories. Can hardly wait to read the next book!

Another great addition to the Nameless series!

Nameless is seeing visions. He is having more clairvoyant visions caused by his forced amnesia.

He’s seeing a world in the future that involves an authoritarian organization that destroys anything good. This shadow hate group will destroy democracy and decency for anyone different.

The events haven’t happened yet but the visions along with present events and cases are slowly coming to fruition.

This whole plot piece has been coming together in all the books of the second series.
Kaleidoscope also deals with breeding farms, dogs being abused and horrible human beings!

Will Nameless check out of the fight before it even begins or stand up to this evil that hides in the shadows?

And so after two seasons we are starting to get glimpses of something more - yes there is the mission of the week but this time it second place to something more (I will admit that I am still not sure myself of what it is so no worries over spoilers) but you can tell we are now leaving the formulaic missions and now starting to delve deeper.

As I have said on numerous other occasions when you have a series of books there are 3 distinct parts - well it certainly feels as though we are moving out of the second and in to the third - which is never a bad thing.

The question now is where will the story go as there are definitely elements which have been brewing through the series and most certainly have been stepping up in the last few instalments. I guess the question is now will they deliver on the anticipated and hints. I shall certainly be finding out soon enough I think.

With this book the episodic nature of the series seems to be coming to an end, I’m not really sure how I feel about that.

Another stellar addition to this sprawling series, and I enjoyed how it adds so much more than just the one mission ahead of Nameless, too. So looking forward to reading the rest of the season as well as hoping there will be more and more in the future!

Feels like we’re getting closer and closer to knowing whatever Doomsday scenario the future holds. Also, we’re getting a little more info on Nameless.

The best installment so far in the series!!!
It's a pleasure to read...

Burdened with the gift of clairvoyance, a vulnerable anti-hero!

More about Nameless, what kind of person he is, and his past are revealed...
Also, his current assignment is not what it seems, but is far more dangerous!

Nameless has to find the answers to these questions before it's too late...
Great series and I'm fully hooked folks!!!

Does a story with abused animals help the season two of the Nameless series look better than the first one? Yes, it scored some extra points with me as a person who has dedicated most of his life to animal advocacy. But there is also something about Koontz’s writing which is better, more capturing. And the proximity of uncovering the mystery about the nameless protagonist in the hands of justice in a decaying, totalitarian society makes me enjoy these stories.

A much better story than the previous one (Gentle is the Angel of Death). That book was pretty much ridiculous & made me consider not finishing off the series. But I’m glad I took a chance on Kaleidoscope as it seems to have gotten the underlying storyline back on track. And now I’m curious to see what happens next to Nameless & Ace & the rest of the crew as they try & save us from a dystopian future.

The Nameless Plot Thickens
Review of the Amazon Original Kindle eBook edition (June 2021)

I wasn't that impressed with the first season of Dean Koontz's Nameless (2019). Its main attraction was its being a free offer through Amazon Originals. The stereotypical and predictable tales of a Jason Bourne-like amnesiac vigilante enacting punishment on the wicked became tiresome and I gave up after the 3rd story out of 6. More background to the mysterious Treadstone-like organization behind the scenes and the Nameless character themselves might at least add needed drama and suspense to the proceedings. The 2nd season promised something along those lines.

This third episode continued to show cracks in the facade of the otherwise seemingly omniscient vigilante organization Ace of Diamonds. Nameless (using yet another absurd non-cover name of Maxim de Winter of Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca) is sent out on a supposed 'easy' mission to shut down a barbarous puppy mill in Wichita, Kansas. The villains are suspicious though and Nameless barely escapes with his life. He continues to have visions of an apocalyptic future with the Triskelion organization and I continue to want to read on to discover what that is about.

Kaleidoscope is the 3rd of the 6 short stories making up the crime fiction series Nameless Season 2, released simultaneously on June 10, 2021 as an eBook by Amazon Originals and as an audiobook by Audible Originals.

I feel that answers are finally coming. Nameless is having some spooky visions. He finds out more about himself. And of course he takes out some bad guys in the process. A quick and fun read as always.

Well

Whatever the future is going to be in Nameless’s world it’s not going to be pretty 😟, the impending doom is just too ominous to ignore……. The story continues

Sad and heading towards trouble

The visions Nameless is having show a terrorizing future with people being killed gruesomely by a totalitarian government with a triskillion (sp?) Emblem. Its like three arms clutched together covered in blood. He sees it coming but doesn't know where or when it will happen. This trip goes south when the people he meets up turn out to be disgusting human beings. There is nothing and I mean nothing worse for me when someone abuses children or animals. This is dogs. They are breeding them to death and when he goes into the barn I started to cry over the condition of it and the animals. It was just so sad and it really riled me up. They have another sinister side business to boot but the dog breeding was enough for me. Now Nameless is worried about Ace, his manager because the last two missions have been wonky, and the future is looking dire. What do his visions mean? I have to read the rest to find out.

This instalment reveals a little more of Nameless' past but it's still shrouded in mystery. This episode was certainly disturbing due to the subject matter...I have always wondered how humans can be so cruel.

Well-written as usual and engaging till the last.

Recommended.

Intriguing

This story read differently. There was a lot more explanation rather than action, but it worked. I like finally finding out more about Nameless, and I hope eventually Ace. I'm definitely curious as to how everything will work out in the end.

I didn’t feel like a lot happened in this one but it’s part of a whole series so maybe my rating is unfair…. As a whole i appreciate the writing (of course! It’s Dean Koontz!) i just wanted a bit more action!

Although Nameless was sent on a mission in this story, it was only a small part of the book. This one told a little bit about Nameless as a child. He continues to struggle with his dreams/visions of a violent future for mankind. Really enjoying this series!
