The stakes are higher, new questions will surface, and more blood will spill in the thrilling sequel of the Guardians of the Maiden fantasy series.

Reeling from Cassiel's confession, Dyna struggles to understand what the Blood Bond means for them both, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a newfound enemy. When reuniting with a familiar sorceress, she realizes the only way to defeat Tarn is to find her Guardians—all of them.

Cassiel never meant to tie himself to a human, especially one that inexplicably draws him. But then the bond develops a startling change, and it puts into question everything he thought he knew.

Zev straddles the line between human and wolf, unsure if his dark thoughts truly belong to the Madness. It’s growing stronger, determined to take over—and he may just let it.

The journey to get the answers they each need will test them all. But what Dyna doesn't know is that it comes with a price, and it may cost more than she bargained for.

reasons to pick up this series:
- a magical world filled with elves, mages, angels, fae, werewolves, and literally anything else you can think of

- a ‘going on a long journey’ plotline

- found families and people joining together for a common goal

- a broody love interest with wings

- an unbreakable bond

- a cinnamon roll who deserves to be protected at all costs

this particular installment definitely prioritises the world-building and character development. very little progress is made regarding the characters’ journey and reaching their end goal, which is kind of a bummer. but i do appreciate learning more about the world, the different kinds of magic and people, and seeing how the characters have grown.

overall, a pretty good addition to the series and i cant wait see how the story continues to move forward!

"You may stumble, but the most important step is always the next one."

I am LOVING this series SOOO MUCH!!! We are back with Dyna, the prophesized Maiden and her Guardians on their quest to reach the mythical island that they believe holds the answers to defeating their enemies. They face one trial after another including trying to evade Tarn and his men, who are trying to capture Dyna in order to put into motion his own dark and evil plans. Dyna is also grappling with the Blood Bond that she shares with Cassiel and what that means for her and their tangled relationship while also trying to understand and harness her own power. There are enemies and danger around every corner, and they must all band together in order to survive and reach their destination!!

The World Building in this series is EXCELLENT and it seems to get better with each book! This book is a bit on the slower side as far as plot progression and is definitely more of a "building" book and also focuses more on character development. I still really enjoyed it though and there were enough action-packed scenes sprinkled throughout the book to keep me engaged.

The Guardians

Lucenna- I am starting with my new FAVORITE! Lucenna is a QUEEN and she made this book for me! She is EVERYTHING I want in a female character, and I could not love her more. She is independent and cunning and does not suffer fools! I love how she became a guide for Dyna and how she pushed her to fight for herself, bc let's be honest, Dyna needs a kick in the ass sometimes!

"Don't allow others to place limitations on you. If you want to be a fighter, then be one."

"If you want to learn, then learn. Don't ask men for permission."

"Anyone who would force their will upon you doesn't mean well."

See?!! SHE IS A QUEEN!!! 😍😍

Zev- Ahh my poor sweet protective and tortured Zev. I really was so heartbroken for him this entire book. The depths of his despair and his feelings of utter hopelessness were so crushing. I really love his character so much and I just want to give him a hug. His familial love for Dyna is so beautiful and pure and the only thing that he has to hold on to. I need Zev to have some wins next book bc he has really earned some happy.

"When I look into my future, I find only darkness. Once I lose all sense of myself. I will become the feral beast you thought me to be. I cannot be allowed to live should that happen." 😭😭

Rawn-The DAD of the group!! He is the voice of reason if only they would actually listen to him more bc he is always right!! He didn't get too much attention this book, but my man is seriously clutch and super powerful and always with the sage advice.

"All we can do is strive to live each day we are given to the fullest and leave the world a better place once we are gone."

Cassiel -MY GRUMPY TACITURN PRINCE!!! Haha, I love this man so much! He is so cranky and blunt and I love how he just owns it. I actually thought he had really great character development in this book and how he tries to reconcile his feelings for Dyna and his own self-worth.

"I thought the role of sullen, intolerable ass fell to me."

"Since the moment I saved your life, you were mine to protect."

When it came between her and the world, he would always choose her.

The Maiden
Dyna- Oh Dyna! This is the character that I have struggled with the most throughout this series. I don't love her, but I also don't hate her. I understand that she is supposed to be naive, and she is learning to be a strong woman, but the process has been quite painful to read through at times. She cries A LOT! And I really need her to just toughen up now and step into her own power. I am hoping that the next book is her breakout book!

"Sometimes the world is cruel, it can be lonely and dark, and can convince you that you're worthless. The reality is, it takes courage to find worth within yourself. Each life is valuable, each given a purpose, regardless of whether you believe it or not."

Other characters
Von- I love Von as a character even if I find myself at odds with his decisions. He makes for a fascinating character study of what motivates his choices and how his beliefs and his past continue to shape the way he sees his world even in the face of possible freedom. I love his love for Yavi and it's so hard to see him make the wrong choices and possibly jeopardize his future with her.

"It didn't matter where they went, what hovel they stayed in, or what curse broke the sky. She was his home"

Elon-This guy just deserves an honorable mention bc he is so scary and badass.

I can't wait to continue the rest of the series and hopefully meet the remaining GUARDIANS! 😍

dynacassiel?? my babies. no one can hurt them.
vonyavi?? they deserve so much more. love them.

the world-building was immaculate, though i have to say i def loved this one more bc of the character development, and i'm a total character girly.

___________________________

That is the question, isn’t it? An interesting debate. The fates present us with a path of destiny, but do you reach it because of chance or choice?

“If it’s not worth dying for, then it’s not worth fighting for.”

Her expression tightened, as if speaking about the state of his being hurt her. “Sometimes the world is cruel,” she said. “It can be lonely, and dark, and convince you that you’re worthless. The reality is, it takes courage to find worth within yourself. Each life is valuable, each given a purpose, regardless of whether you believe it or not. I know your worth, Cassiel. So should you.”

“Et haor sheli,” he said in the language of the Heavens, his voice so soft it was almost a whisper. Even in the raging chaos around her, the shrieks of the sea creatures, and the explosions of spells, she heard him loud and clear. “From the first day we met, you have proven to me time and again that you are capable of far more than I could ever have imagined. I believe you can do this. I know you can.”

“You call me a liar, but was it not you who lied?” Cassiel murmured. “I recall your promise not to turn your back on me.”

Cassiel inched closer, bringing his body a hairsbreadth from hers, and her breath caught when his head dipped low. His soft lips brushed against her earlobe, sending a current of shivers across her flushed skin. “Do you hate me, Dyna? Or do you hate the bond that makes you mine?”

“Since the moment I saved your life, you were mine to protect.”

“Cassiel, to me, you are everything.” Breath trembling, Dyna closed her eyes. “From dawn until dusk, my heart and mind are filled with you. It will always be you.”

Cassiel and Dyna… ahhh, I squealed. I loved their dynamic here, it was so angsty and emotional because of the non-consensual bond. I mean, both had feelings for each other but Dynalya didn’t know about the bond, and Cassiel was so consumed by guilt. It formed a unique relationship between them full of hurt and guilt and secrets and lies and love that I craved as much as I despised. They frustrated me with all their back and forth, but it was them. They were so totally at odds with each other at sometimes, and at others opened up to each other. I went from wanting to shake them in the starting parts of the book to loving the tension between them near the end.

Von pressed his trembling lips to her fingers. “If one day it was all devoured in flames, I would give up everything to wish for you back.”
If he could, he would choose to burn with her forever.

My heart broke for Yavi and Von, because their relationship was just so full of love ad care that I felt mushy. But also because I understood both of their perspectives. Yavi wanted to be free, but she also wanted Von. And Von just wanted his wife to live a life. With him, preferably, but. Why didn’t he just tell her about the prophecy he heard before it’s too late for them? Just use the time they already had 🫶 I felt for them, I really did.

That ending was so freaking heartbreaking. thank god I have the next book rn!! <3

4.5 Grindylow Scale Stars ⭐️

This series is crawling itself into my heart, and it is just leaving me with such a feeling of happiness thinking about these characters, and their found family. I JUST WANNA HUG THEM ALL!!!!

This book was definitely better than the first one (which was already pretty high up there).

I laughed. I cried. I screamed. I smiled. I squealed. I felt my heart racing and I felt my heart breaking. There were so many emotions this book made me feel and it’s beautiful that it can accomplish this while still maintaining a successful balance of character development, and world-building, while still weaving in the plot. When I see this done in books, I know that these characters and this story is going to stay with me for a while after I finish it and if this trend continues...this series is on its way to making itself a spot on the list of favourite series.

This book starts off almost exactly where book one ended so we are thrown right back into the action with our characters. Diana has just found out that she’s bonded and she needs to work through this whilst our band of guardians continues on their trek with a reluctant new member Lucenna.

The first half of this book is a little bit slow and overall this book is more about character development and further solidifying the world-building than the actual plot. But this is one of the reasons why I pushed it down because whilst some action happens a little bit in the middle, most of it is squeezed into the last 100 pages and I wanted a little bit more throughout the book.

I can happily say that Dyna I did not irritate me as much as she did in the first book and my suspicion that she was kept as "naive as she was" in the first book to show her progression did actually come to pass. She grew up and matured quite a lot in this book as she becomes braver and more self-confident in her own abilities, and starts to also embrace her feelings for Cassiel.

Cassiel is still a broody little angel but that man can do no wrong. He is just perfect and as much as he has to work through his own self-worth problems and guilt for forcing the bond on Dyna the progression he makes to finally believe that he is worthy of Dyna was beautiful! There are still numerous moments where that lack of communication between the two of them does add unnecessary tension. But all the cute moments between the two of them, when he was just so protective, and possessive and would do ABSOLUTELY anything for her. Just melts my heart so much!!!!!!!!

Zev, that man is "in the depths of despair" but this little cinnamon roll just needs to be protected, and whilst his story is so heartbreaking and so dismal and I just want to give him a hug and tell him it’s okay. We love him, we need him, so he doesn’t have to feel like no one wants him

Rawn, he’s kind of like the "dad of the group". I mean he’s sometimes (most times) the voice of reason and he’s very gentlemanly and proper. But I don’t really have any HUGE feelings about him mainly because he is not a POV character. As a result, you don’t actually get to see his thoughts and feelings, you only see him and his actions as the others do.

Lucenna. MY GOD! She’s my role model bitch Queen, who doesn’t need a man to tell her what to do! She knows she's got power and strength and she is who I want to be when I grow up. I adored the sisterly protective bond that she forms with Dyna, it was just the sweetest.

Von? I don’t like you because you’re hurting Yavi.

One of the other aspects that brought this down a little bit for me is that it feels like the plot isn't actually moving forward and we're almost going around in a slow spiral. The plot repeats a couple of elements that happened in the first book, so they weren't as surprising this time around.

Overall!!!! I really recommend this series and while it is YA, it is an excellent fantasy. So if you like a "Journey Narrative" with a found family that has epic world-building and an accidental marriage with a one-bed trope, then this book is for you! Just obviously read the first one first because you can’t just read this one and then GO fall in love with this series as much as I have.

Thank you Lila 💖 Love again, for allowing me to share the magical book and characters with you. I think they’ve pulled more into my heart because they’re so special to you.

Five stars? No, not enough! Even if I give all the stars in the world, it will not be enough for this one. I swear to God, I found such an engaging series after a long time, in which the second book was more enjoyable than the first. It was so addictive and satisfying that it made me sad after finishing the last page.

I am at a loss for words! My mind is blown and this was even better than the first! Forever screaming into the void over that ending! I am so happy to see Bonded Fate out in the world now, so we can all scream and flail together.

Beck Michaels really delivered in this sequel, and everything I loved about the first book was there, tenfold.

Dyna has really come into her character arc throughout this book. One of my issues with her in the first was her stubborn naivety and innocence. Of course, I realized that was a feature and not a flaw, and it only makes her progression in this book sweeter to see. Dyna has been exposed to the realities of the world beyond her home and is more cautious, hardened, and certainly not as trusting. I really appreciated that aspect of her arc, because you can really see how much the events of the previous book (and this one!) have been molding her actions and personality.

I loved Cassiel in this book, probably even more than I loved him in the first one! He struggles a lot in this book, over his bond with Dyna and what that means for their futures and how others will regard them. Honestly, I found that so thoughtful and refreshing, rather than accept it unquestioningly, these characters truly try to consider the meaning and value behind it, as well as how it could influence their decisions. Cassiel is still broody, but he’s also so genuinely caring and compassionate, I feel like he’s going to be a true force to be reckoned with in future books. Watch out y’all.

That said, the romance and the angst in this book is SO rewarding! I was on the edge of my seat multiple times. You know that “Now Kiss!” meme? Yeah, that was me 😅 Also, get ready for the return of our all-time favorite, the THERE’S ONLY ONE BED TROPE. *woot woot*

The other characters in this really pull their weight as well. Beck Michaels does a great job of keeping us invested in the stories of her supporting characters, to the point that you forget they’re supporting characters at all. We learn a lot more about Lucenna (I was not ready for that twist!) and I am dying to see where her story goes next. I just want to give Zev a warm hug and see him happy, it hurts so much knowing how much pain he’s in and how much self loathing he experiences. I really need to see his cinnamon roll side shine and see him happy. I loved Rawn in this and am so glad he was there with us throughout this wild ride!

I am also SO intrigued by Von and Yavi. I have some serious theories there about their role in the story and prophecy, as well as the role of other characters we meet briefly (those Azure Guard members, eh eh!?🤔).

Needless to say, I loved this sequel and can say that it’s hands down, rooted this series as a favorite and one you can bet I’ll be continuing to devour. Thank you so much to Beck Michaels for sending me an early copy for review!

Buddy read with Kendra!

Well that last 10% was a wild motherforking ride. I went up and then I went downnnn and then I freaking hit rock bottom, right along with the cute little cliffhanger we have on our hands!

I really liked this book!! Dyna’s character had some definite improvement from book #1, and the romance between her and Cass was adorable as hell and truly blossomed throughout the story. Our cute little found family had its issues, but what family doesn’t, and I did like the way some things were resolved at the end (before shit hit the fan, of course).

I’m really glad Kendra made me continue this series haha, can’t wait to finish the trilogy whenever book #3 is released!

This was a great sequel to an already amazing series. It was as epic as the first book, with even 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜. I was blown away with all the reveals we got. Honestly i'm at a total loss for words here. This journey was filled with more danger, creatures and guardians with so much suspenseful quest built up leaving me wanting more. It was simply perfection.

"No one is every truly without fear. I remind myself every day why I'm here, what I lost, what I'm fighting for. And I keep those reasons close to my heart."

Especially the characters dynamic they were absolutely chef's kiss, all the relationships developed beautifully and in a very natural way. Even when they frustrated me  i just loved them even more, because it made them very real and relatable. Not to mention Dyna and Cassiel's bond like 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐇*𝐓 their chemistry is just unbelievable. My love for these two keeps growing and growing the more i read. I swear everytime they had a sweet moment together i was squealing like a fangirl.

“Cassiel inched closer, bringing his body a hairsbreadth from hers, and her breath caught when his head dipped low. His soft lips brushed against her earlobe, sending a current of shivers across her flushed skin. “Do you hate me, Dyna? Or do you hate the bond that makes you mine?”

This book was truly 𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐋 even tho i had moments were i wanted to throw the book out the window screaming, i was still as enamored with this story as i was with the first. There were so many scenes in this book that broke me, made me laugh or had me needing to take a break 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 but Damn if I'm not still obsessed and addicted with them.

“Sometimes the world is cruel. It can be lonely and dark, and convince you that you're worthless, but the reality is, it takes courage to find worth within yourself. Each life is valuable. Each given a purpose, regardless if you believe it or not. I know your worth, Cassiel. So should you.”

We also had some darker themes here, all of our characters have suffered from a lot and are dealing with the pain and damage that comes with it. But despite it all they are still fighting against the threats and roadblocks they face and will continue to face in this quest. Each of them have an enemy trying to stop them from accomplishing their individual goals and reaching Mount Ida. By the end i just wanted to 𝐡𝐮𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩 so no one could hurt them anymore.

“There are things in life in which we have no say,” Rawn said, searching the starry sky. “The coming of death is one of them. We may never know why it happens for some and not for others. All we can do is strive to live each day we are given to the fullest and leave the world a better place once we are gone.”

𝐅#𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐋 Beck Michaels why do you keep hurting my poor soul with these endings. Still recommend to those who loves great epic stories with lots of characters and danger. But August is so, so, so far away i can't deal with it, 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧. But don't worry about me i'm good, you're good, it's all good.

“From dawn and until dusk, my heart and mind are filled with you. It will always be you.”

Oh dear, where to begin? Beck Michaels did it again! I loved Bonded Fate (BF) more than I loved Divine Blood (DB) - the first book in the series, and that is saying much because Divine Blood was one of my top 2020 reads (see my Divine Blood review here).

Bonded Fate picked up from where Divine Blood left off and like the first book, this was also written in multiple POV’s, something that I must say Beck Michaels excel at. I love reading stories written in multiple POV’s and I am aware that it can be challenging to deliver because this is how readers see the difference in character personalities, but Beck Michaels definitely delivers. The character’s name is written in each chapter page but even without it, you would clearly know who’s POV you were reading.

I initially planned to reread DB before picking up BF for a refresher but because of impatience, I decided to pick up Bonded Fate and ditch the reread plan. Although it has been almost a year since I read DB, I didn’t have any issues returning to this world because Beck Michaels provided snippets of what happened in DB.

The beginning was a little slower but the build up was worth it for what’s to come because of the angst, tension, and all of the foreshadowing.

“Sometimes the world is cruel,” […] “It can be lonely and dark, and convince you that you’re worthless, but the reality is, it takes courage to find worth within yourself. Each life is valuable. Each given a purpose, regardless if you believe it or not. I know your worth, Cassiel. So should you.”

I will always have a soft spot for my stupid celestial, everytime Cassiel is hurt or in pain I feel it too, I think we are one and connected, LOL. The small gestures that makes my heart swell! He’s still broody, arrogant and tactless but have come a long way with his character development the same with Dyna. She remains to be kind (and still needs a leash), she’s also like a little girl who wants to keep everyone she meets. I loved the slow burn romance, it was beautiful and they made me giggle a ton of times although I may or may not have pulled my hair and screamed just kiss already!

“The world is full of things I hate and do not need, but you…” […] “I need you."

If you read DB and loved it, I am confident that you are going to love BF more because it was indeed so much more! The first book was just the tip of the iceberg and this sequel is where the action is, it was a roller coaster ride. The world became bigger, the action sequences became more intense, the emotions and feelings became more complex and matured (yeah, I cried). It was lush with magic and bits of fairytale and a whole cadre of amazing old and new characters you couldn't help but love...even if some have proven over and over again why they are called stupid, they’re still my kind of stupid. The set of characters have their own plot which adds to the complexity of the story and I cannot wait to meet all of the guardians and see where and how all their stories would intertwine!

Trigger warnings:
Trauma
Suicide
Grief

Thank you Beck Michaels for providing an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

“Don’t allow others to place limitations on you.” Her gaze hardened. “If you want to be a fighter, then be one.”
.
This book was just as good as the first one. I couldn’t put it down. There is a trigger warning, so make sure to check it out before hand. This book was full of action, adventure, friendship, and so much more. The slow burn is done so well. I mean a hand hold had me swooning. As usually the slow burn will have you yelling at these characters as they constantly won’t say the right words. As Dyna works to reach her destination you are going to get to meet new characters and explore more of her relationships. I love the multiple POVs, but I will warn you there will always be a moment where someone’s POV will end on a cliffhanger. Then switch to someone else’s… Also, Cassiel’s trauma is so beautiful to explore. This poor man. I just want to hold him so tight and never let go. Same with Zev… they both are just breaking my heart with their feelings. “I’m screaming inside, and no one can hear it.” This line I felt on a whole other level. As someone that struggles with mental illness (in different ways then Zev) this line was perfect. The CLIFFHANGER!! You’re going to want to cry, scream, and maybe even throw something, but I’m here for you. Read this book soon. Well until we meet again my friends.

"The whole world needs help. You cannot save everyone"
Dyna: "I can damn well try"

What a ride! Bonded Fate is nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster, the plot, characters, adventure, layers and layers of goodness. While I really enjoyed Divine Blood, I am in LOVE with its sequel, thanks to Beck for my street team advanced reader copy. I thoroughly enjoyed everything in this book, the plot itself is set in the premise of adventure and travel and the author did a phenomenal job with keeping readers engaged all through the journey she takes us on!

After ending on a painful cliffhanger, the plot picks up where it is left. Dyna and Cassial comes to a non-verbal agreement where they remain amicable to focus on what's coming for them, Dyna is in turmoil with the latest revelation while Zev is slowly succumbing to his madness and his aggravating guilt. They continue there treacherous journey with Rawn on the lead for a while only to meet another interesting (a quick personal favorite) Lucenna who is on a mission of her own, I absolutely loved this little found family and their dynamic and savored the growing bromance between Zev and Cassiel

As per the characters there are numerous characters that were introduced, I have to applaud Beck for carefully balancing the intro of new players while adding depth to the existing characters. Dyna's character takes the cup for how much she has grown from naive damsel to a determined fighter, her arc is beautiful while Cassiel's hard exterior keeps chipping off little by little. What I noticed was that none of the characters were wasted, giving them a key role and sub-plot of their own adding further layers to the plot

The Romance is beautiful, its quite a slow burn where it takes immense time to build based on trust and belief in each other-

“From Dawn and until dusk, my heart and mind are filled with you.It will always be you"

This is my kind of romance- slow, steady and matured. I never reread but Chapter 55 pulled at all my heart strings making me want to reread every time it comes to my mind! Stupid Human and Stupid Celestial makes it up for all the fans for keeping them waiting, I have one word to describe the chapter- Beautiful

"Ett haor sheli," he said in the language of the heavens, his voice so soft it was almost a whisper.Even in raging chaos around her, the shrieks of the sea creatures, and the explosions of spells, she heard him loud and clear. "From the first day we met, you have proven to me time and again that you are capable of more than I could ever have imagined.I believe you can do this.I know you can"

Overall its a pretty amazing experience although I am kind of still mad (ok maybe a little mad) about the cliffhanger ;)

READ IF YOU LIKE:

-LOTR kind of adventurous fantasy
-Slow burn romance
-Prophecies
-Fantasy elements like shifters, Fae, Celestials, Witches and whatnot
-Layered and Character driven plots

TW- The book has mentions about suicide, loss and grief!

HOLY FRIGGING MOLY!! Buckle up friends because you are in for a RAVING review...

First I would like to thank Beck for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review! And say there may be spoilers for the first book (Divine Blood) in this review so proceed at your own risk for book 1!

Bonded Fate takes place right after the ending to Divine Blood. And after THAT ending can I say a big thank you to Beck for not leaving us hanging after THAT revelation?

I was a little hesitant at the beginning of this book because while I was enjoying the story it definitely was a bit slower. BUT do not let that deter you because oh boy was it setting up for some MAJOR ACTION!! I'm talking edge of my seat, couldn't stop reading with my mind spinning in a million directions trying to connect all the bread crumbs Beck was leaving! There is so much to this story that needs backstory and building up to that I 100% now can see the need for the slower start and actually now that I've finished can appreciate it! I promise stick with this story because it is worth every single moment!!

Now the characters...oh how far they have come!! Zev's fight is one I have seen a friend struggle with and it touched me deeply watching him struggle and Dyna fight for him through it all. Definitely a trigger warning there but I thought Beck did an amazing job portraying it all. And of course Cassiel, my favorite Celestial who cannot for the life of himself say the right thing! I loved watching his and Dyna's progress through this story as they discover more about the blood bond and their relationship. But damn THE STRUGGLE!! I have never wanted to slam two characters heads together more and just scream at them to communicate!! There is still so much more to Rawn that I need to know!! I have a feeling there is something coming but I am not really sure what yet...it's just a feeling. And then we also add a new member who I won't name yet but this character is my ABSOLUTE favorite ever!! I seriously need everything and anything about this character and you can be sure there will be a cosplay on this character coming on release day so stay tuned!!

Overall I just loved this book and especially chatting with the author after finishing with all my theories!! There are sooooo many breadcrumbs dropped in this book and I'm sure I only picked up a small percentage of them! I cannot wait for book 3 to find out what I missed!! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this series but make sure you are in in for the long haul because this is an epic fantasy series that's going to be around 5 or 6 books!! So as I said buckle up and enjoy the ride!!

Yeah, I think I'm going to go ahead and stop there 🧍‍♀️.
-=( DNF: Chp 6 )=-

It's definitely not bad, but it's just not for me- anytime the focus shifts away from the MCs my eye twitches a little 💀 and then I skim, which isn't the way to go with a series like this.

I also can't take any more of the 'I like you but just won't tell you' trope, especially since there's already such a scarce amount of romance scenes. It's the way they haven't even kissed yet 😭🫠.

Alright I'm out 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️.

Do you know that precious feeling when you find a world, characters, a story, a mission that makes you smile everytime you remember them? that makes you pick up your book/cellphone/tablet to read that favorite scene? I feel that with this book, with these characters. I can't say with words how astonishing Bonded fate is and I KNOW that no matter what, the rest is going to be jaw dropping as well!

Can wait for Shattered Souls to come out!!!!

--------

This book is definitely NOT for the faint of heart, or mind, soul, feelings, body, you name it and I’m serious about this. Putting aside the greatness of this book the first fifty percent of it has a lot of heart breaking moments where the characters are hurting in ways I can’t describe, the book has a warning and I agree with it, not just for the intend of suicide but also because the characters are in a dark place while trying to reach the light in this book and that might depress some readers, so yes, my heart was hurting for this characters, I felt their pain because the book didn’t just put it there, it also explained where was coming from, it had real reasons to be and while I would say talking about that pain or insecurity would have resolved the problem I understand 100% that being in a position like that is not simple. It’s amazing to be able to read a book and be so into it that you think of these characters as real people and I loved this world and book because of it.

…All we can do is strive to live each day we are given to the fullest and leave the world a better place once we are gone.”

Okay, going back to the greatness of this amazing book. While the dark moments were there these people never stopped moving. This is the kind of story where the characters are jumping –whether they want to or not- from problem to problem. The book starts right where the first one ended and they IMIDIATLY have to face a problem and enter in a fight. If they are not in some kind of trouble they are facing their inner demons, their deepest fears, hopes, desires. In summary, there’s not a moment of rest while reading this book. I hardly found three full chapters in a row where they are okay, in no danger and being themselves and happy, so I had my heart in my throat the whole time.

Letting their fingers link together, Cassiel found her hand fit perfectly in his.

Is amazing how Beck exposed her characters in this book even more. My logical brain tells me that they haven’t been together for long but still I accepted their relationships because of how they are in the book. The characters are so raw that I feel like I have been reading about them for years when in reality I just started this year. I said this with the first book and I’ll say it again, this world is AWESOME. I could see some of this world in the first book and some more in this one and I can’t help but feel I’ll see way more AMAZING things in the next books. This story took me step by step to understand the characters, their quest, their struggles so that when some things are happening I felt happy, angry, sad or whatever feeling the moment asked of me.

There was a rightness to it. She fit perfectly by his side, in more ways than one. But he shouldn’t want this. Wanting, desiring something more than he’d ever had before, was terrifying. Foolish. It had to be wrong. He knew it deep in his bones.

I loved the world that much is clear, I FREAKING LOVED the characters –Dyna, Cassiel, Zev, Rawn, Lucenna, even Fair the horse- I felt bad for some others –Von- and hated the evil ones of course –even though I feel curiosity for Tarn and can’t help but think that he is going to feel something towards Dyna-. The characters that I KNOW are coming back were awesome as well as those that are just there for a moment, everything in the characterization in this book is awesome, the characters don’t feel there just to fill an empty space and I truly love when that happens in a book.

“He’s so silly.” Lucenna hugged the horse’s neck and discreetly whispered in his ear, “Hush or I’ll braid your mane with frilly bows.”
Fair settled with the tiny threat

“Would it be forward of me to kiss you?”
“Yes,” Dyna whispered with a smile. Her bright green eyes held his as her hands settled on his chest, where his rotten heart thrummed. “It would be.”

I was a bit slow to see who the other guardians are but when I finally understood I was beyond excited. I loved the chemistry between the characters, I loved every good moment Dyna and Cassiel had, I loved the moments of comedy like the scene from the bar everything in this book just feels right.

I have to admit that I have gone to sleep and I have woken up thinking about how things in the third book are going to happen. I CAN’T BELIEVE I have to wait an entire YEAR to read the next book. This is real torture!!!!! Anyway, this book is perfect. For those reading this give these books a chance<3

YEEES. I love when the second book doesn't disappoint and is actually better than the first.

The way these books handle love, friendship, heartache, sorrow and depression is very real. I love how the characters continue to evolve, especially Dyna. I also very much appreciate the way depression is depicted, the constant struggle between fighting and just giving in. Very real.

The LOTR vibes definitely continues in this one with these minor side quests!

4,5/5 ⭐️ Can't wait for the 30th of august!

2/5 🌶 Barley any spice but the love is sooo sweet 💗

This installment picks up where book one left off, with Dyna and the Guardians making their slow way towards Mt. Ida to find the Sol Medallion.

The new characters are great additions.  Lucenna was the key to Dyna and everyone in the group finally facing their past traumas and setting the journey on the right path.  I liked watching the two women learn how to trust, while Dyna learned some hard lessons including how to fight.  We learn more about the others and its fun watching the group come together.

The author brought a lot more magic into this book, with images of suspended waterfall terraces over a palace, azure trees and animals, a fae revel, and even a mage fight.  The history, lore, and expanding local flavors of Azure all helped the worldbuilding.

I liked learning more about the various types of magic.  Since the mages and elves and celestials all have different inherent abilities I think it was good to expand upon this.

Dyna and co. only have a little over a year I think to make it back to North Star when the Shadow demon will return, but they have only covered a tiny fraction of the map.  With two books covering only one island…I know i mentioned this is my book one review but the scale of the map must be enormous, so much that I wonder about consistency in distances and speeds of travel. Either way I am excited to see how in the next book they will cover so much ground so quickly.

Content wise – there was a little more intercourse than seems necessary for YA, but it was between a husband and wife and fairly non-detailed.  There is death and fighting, a little bit of gore, and one character is ready to die, if not quite actively seeking it at times.  She recommends 16+ which seems appropriate.

Lastly just let me say that the “cliffhanger” in book one didn’t bother me much because I could care less about romance – but HOLY COW this one was just mean! When do we get the next book!!

I totally recommend for fans of epic fantasy, solid world building, engaging characters, and a ton of magic crammed into such a small space

What a phenomenal sequel to an already phenomenal debut.

Bonded Fate starts right where Divine Blood ends, when Cassiel has made a confession to Dyna. This creates an immediate environment of angst as the gang continues their journey towards Mount Ida. The part I liked most in the book was the new relationships between characters, and the ones already established developing even further. I loved the development of Zev and Cassiel's friendship, as well as Lucenna and Dyna's. There are lots of new characters, creatures and settings, but the world building is done with care and detail, making it a pleasure to read.

We also get loads more backstory with Tarn and the Raiders, and these chapters really make the reader sympathetic towards the villains. The plot has multiple elements which eventually tie together quite neatly, with plenty of foreshadowing. Michaels makes it a point to delve DEEP into the psyche and thoughts of each character, so we really get to understand the depths of their motivations, fears, wants, etc. One thing that really touched me was the portrayal of Zev's depression. It was done in such a way that I could completely understand and empathise with his pain, especially since I had gone through a similar period of low mood in my life. It is quite rare to have such feelings of inherent worthlessness actually portrayed well in YA/NA fantasy.

Another very good aspect of the book is character development. Dyna and Cassiel grow far beyond what we see in Divine Blood, becoming stronger and softer and learning so much more about themselves and each other. They grow individually as well as together, which was very heartwarming. Nothing was rushed with developing their relationship, making it truly slow burn.

Overall, 5/5. Amazing characters, plot, and world.

I am very much looking forward to the next book.

This is the sequel for Divine Blood which I adored! I enjoy a book with a journey, quests, love story, magic, tragedy, setbacks, villains, unlikely heroes, magical creatures this book had those and so much more!

The maiden and her guardians are still traveling to find a way to defeat the shadow, they all have their own reasons to join Dyna which we are learning.

Dyna and Cassiel are still grappling with a choice Cassiel made in book 1.

Zev is super protective of Dyna his cousin as she continues to learn her magic and new threats appear.

I absolutely loved this book just like I did with the first book! Eek the ending though you are killing me!! So bittersweet and holysheet!! We just got some good news then all hell breaks loose.... I can't say anymore but I need the next book now lol!

Thank you so much Beck Michaels for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Disclaimer: This is a long review! Also written in my blog :)

I honestly don’t know where to start. Weeks later and I am still lost for words, and that’s the impact of Bonded Fate. From the start until the end, it was a rollercoaster ride and there was no room for breathing. First chapter in and it was already intense. The succeeding chapters will surely leave you gasping for air. It’s like climbing a hill before a bomb drops and plunges you straight down. Bonded Fate brought out a lot of emotions from me. If this is Beck’s goal, then she succeeded with playing with our emotions.

I love how the story progressed throughout the book, the consistency, and the character developments. The world that Beck build is magical and whimsical. The words are written beautifully and it transports you to their fantasy world. I can vividly imagine the scenery, the outfits, the battles, and even the emotions that the characters are going through. If I was gifted with talented hands, I would’ve drawn my favorite scene per chapter. Every moment spent reading the book was exhilarating, the novel is genuinely incredible, and it will wreck you.

In the second book, our protagonists continue with their journey to Mount Ida. A lot of new characters were introduced and Dyna crossed paths with her Guardians at one point in her journey. Every decision matters and along the way, teamwork and trust are tested.

The book contains multiple POV that allows us to see the characters from a different perspective which is actually insightful. Every character has a story to tell and this allows us, the readers, to know more about their life. To make it more interesting, we have POVs from Von, the villain who I believe is a good person. His chapters show us the struggles he’s been going through, what’s happening in the camp, and Tarn. I do believe that there’s more to him than meets the eye and I am excited to read more about him.

Looking forward to more Lucenna and Rawn content. I love that we got to know more about Lucenna as she shares part of her story. WHO WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THAT? I love her so much, she’s the definition of a strong, powerful, and badass girl. Yes, girl! Show them who the boss is. Rawn, on the other hand, was outshined by the others. I feel bad for him and how others (except for Dyna) treats him but I have a speculation that his story will come to light in the next book. But wow, he is another powerful and formidable character. I love how the Guardians are slowly assembling.

Zev is precious; must protect this baby. We all know that he’s been struggling and on the verge of Madness because of who he is. He’s been carrying the weight of his father’s death on his shoulders for years now and the only thing that kept him going is Dyna and his need to protect his family. It was painful to see him struggle and walk in the path of darkness, and I hope that one day he sees that he is worthy of love and life, and forgives himself. Baby steps, Zev, baby steps. We’ll get there someday.

Let me pause for a while to squeal at CASSIEL AND DYNA!
Can you feel my excitement at these two? Yes?

I love that the character development of Dyna, she wanted to learn magic to defend herself and not solely rely on her companions for her safety. It shows that she’s not the naïve and innocent girl from Divine Blood who believes that the world is good and safe like her village. You must grow in order to survive the harsh reality.

Cassiel, on the other hand, speaks his mind without thinking first which got them to more trouble than they intended. The broody black angel is actually a softy when it comes to Dyna. He grew from the previous book, he is much more open and understanding. Another baby that we must protect.

With the revelations of their bond, Dyna and Cassiel try to understand what it means to be bonded while they navigate their growing affections for each other. If you love them, then this book is for you! I don’t even know how to properly describe what I’m feeling and I get so anxious every time they try to talk about their feelings.

There were A LOT of miscommunications and there’s so much angst, a healthy dose of pain, and a slow burn romance. I LOVE THEIR SCENES TOGETHER. Also, we got a one-bed trope *squeals* but it’s not what you think. It’s actually sweet and wholesome and I’m excited to see what will happen to them in the next book.

On my reading journey with Bonded Fate, I was able to add in my theories, some of which were actually correct and addressed in the later chapters. The rest are still unanswered but I think I was able to pick up the subtle hints and foreshadowing.

That ending though, the revelations left us in another cliffhanger, but not on an actual cliff this time LOL. I expect these kinds of ending from now on in this series. But I know I will never be prepared for any ending that Beck writes.

I got so many quotable quotes from this book and they cut deep. It was a wild adventure. I have nothing else to say but I LOVE BONDED FATE SO MUCH! I cannot stress it enough. Thank you so much for sharing the book with the world.

What I’m writing doesn’t justify what I actually feel and if my mind could properly process everything, I would be writing a novella.

I cannot wait for the rest of the series! It’s so fulfilling to be part of this journey, sharing our favorite scenes and quotes, spreading our love for the novel along with the growing fandom.

WOW... if you hear pterodactyl screaming it's me.

This book is everything and more.
It's stunning and grips you so you can't put it down until you've finished, and you're desperate for the next book.

All I can say is if you loved the first book, it only gets better!

Also Zev is best boy ;)

Just as good as the first book.

It is rare when the second book in a series is as good as the first book. I really enjoyed the first book and this book had everything the first book did; enemies to lovers, action, mystery, betrayal and plot twists, especially that ending, I did not see that coming.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters more and on a deeper level. Looking forward to the next book.

Bonded Fate
Book Two

Dyana and her guardians have been on one heck of a journey.

Every single character is on their own individual journey on trying to find either love, peace, and acceptance from this magically world. And it’s all leading to this one island…

There’s this prophecy and Dyana is the main component in it. She doesn’t know why, or understand what her part of it is, but now she has people after her. Very powerful people and her Guardians are doing everything they can to keep her safe. The end goal is to try to get to this mysterious island and get what they all desire.
“You and your Guardians have all come under the same stars by will, and destiny, for this journey is your bonded fate.”

Dyna and Cassiel finally acknowledge that they are bonded for an eternity. Finally towards the end of book 2, we see their romance blossom. It’s a slow burn guys!
Cassiel still has insecurities but he is finally questioning everything he thought he knew about his own kind and finding his backbone.
I’m still not sure what to think of Von. He’s brainwashed or perhaps scared to leave his “master” when he knows damn well he’s free from Tarn. But he’s keeping himself under Tarn to keep his wife on an invisible leash because he thinks the prophecy will kill her if they run.
So I am not on team Von… yet.
Zev.
Someone find his mate because he’s breaking my heart. He can’t handle what life has thrown at him and he’s been at his breaking point for too long. He wants to die and he’s making me cry everytime it’s his POV!

The book leaves off on somewhere of a cliffhanger. The Guardians and Dyna are forced apart and a whole new subplot are at play … I can’t wait to read book three!
