Volumes 7-9, printed for the first time in English!
The Pacific Chrysalis was Mithril's first true victory over Amalgam, but their success has only led to escalation. Between growing suspicion at school and cryptic warnings from Tessa's brother that everything is about to change, Sousuke begins to realize that his peaceful life in Tokyo might not last much longer. Before he can even prepare, though, Sousuke finds himself running a gauntlet beyond anything he could have imagined. He'll have to fight not just for his own life, but for the life of everyone he knows!
Shoji Gatoh ( 賀東招二), born on July 11, 1971, is a Japanese author from Shiga Prefecture, Japan. He is best known for the creation of the Full Metal Panic! series that included light novels, manga and anime. He is not only an author but also an anime scenarist, for example "The Day of Sagittarius" of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and three episodes of Lucky Star.
I made sure not to make the same mistake I did with the previous book and made sure to make finishing this book a top priority. IT has a lot of great moments in it and truly pushes Sosuke to his breaking point and beyond as he and Chidori's worlds are turned upside down. It is fantastic and now I'm ready for the final collection to be released later this year to finally enjoy the finality of this series I started close to 20 years ago. It's been a long journey but a very fulfilling one.
Going into these three volumes I knew it was going to be a rough time - this was my least favorite part of the manga when I read that years ago.
Volume 7 and 8 were beatdown after beatdown for Sosuke / Mithril / Chidori. Just depressing and sad. Volume 9 is where the turning point begins with the reuniting of the Mithril team and Chidori's phone call to Sosuke to push him to save her at any cost.
Novel 7 was good but depressing, 8 was even worse and finally on 9 we see the MC bounce back. I like the fact the good guys seem to be losing more than they are wining, and that keeps the stoy interesting.
Looking forward to the conclusion of the story in the next 3 volumes.
Another thrilling volume! This may be the best yet, and I look forward to seeing how it all wraps up... Beyond here, I have no idea where the story goes, because the anime has only advanced this far. I’m excited!
