Enjoyable historical western romance that takes place on a wagon train in 1860. Although the details related to the journey are bare bones, the romance is robustly developed. Spicy scenes and interesting characters enhance this novella. 3.5 rounded to 4 stars.

Addy and Josh.
An enjoyable well crafted western that is comfortably predictable. Yet the depth of the main characters saves it from being formulaic. Josh comes across as tough and uncaring at first but changes as they get to know each other. He releases his prejudices about a woman's place as he gets to know her as a person.
Addy needs to get to Baker City Oregon before her father dies of Tuberculosis/Consumption. She has just graduated as a medical Doctor from Harvard just so she can save him. But the quickest way there is by wagon train and the men in the train vote that no single women can join. Josh agrees to marry her and annul the marriage at Baker City. He doesn't want a second wife as his first marriage was such a failure. The majority of the story takes place on the trail, but doesn't end as soon as they get to Baker City. The whole story was a great read. My only complaint was that Josh's guilt over his first wife seemed a bit much when the circumstances were revealed. And so his refusal to stay wed to Addy went on too long imho. But I didn't find it ruined the excellent story in any way. The ending was romantic and sweet. I really felt like they would be a wonderful couple.
I should also mention that the sex was HOT! Not too much though, just enough to make it spicey ; )
I look forward to reading more by this author!!

Woman wants to go west by taking a wagon train. She is a woman doctor and needs to go to her father in hopes of treating his consumption. She marries the wagon master (in name only) and starts the journey. Needless to say the marriage doesn't stay in name only long. The characters were strong and likable. The story rolled at a good pace and the idea that she had to travel by wagon train, when she needed to get there in such a hurry, didn't ring all that real with me.
