I’m a killer.

A trained and skilled assassin, and I’ve never missed a target.

My newest hit is human, a New York socialite, with a reputation for keeping supernatural beings as pets. Caging them and performing unspeakable acts on them. Even the United Senate wants her dead. Which is where I come into play. I’m given the contract for killing her.

Only nothing goes to plan. In the midst of a violent and bloody attack, I’m bitten by a wolf. An omega, who’s the complete opposite of me, in everything. By the laws of the Senate, I’m no longer a human or an assassin. I’m a werewolf.

Dual natured, my life will never be the same. I need to quickly learn how to balance my years of experience as a detached killer with my new submissive side. The side that needs the care and nurturing of my pack.

Colt, Lane, Zander, Morgan, Noah, and Elias are my new Alphas and Betas. They run the largest Tennessee wolf pack. They treat me like I’m a rare, and precious wolf, but it's in my nature to fight my own battles. Danger is coming at me from all sides. I need to claim my place and accept who I am while trusting them with the truth of who I used to be.

Book 1 of the Omega Assassin Series

This is a reverse harem which means that the lady does not choose between her men she gets them all. The main character is an assassin and does kill people throughout this book. This is a fast burn series with possessive alphas who go through rut and omega in heat. Dual Nature is an 18+ book that has strong language, sexual situations, physical & verbal abuse with brief dub-con (not involving the main character) and ends on a cliffhanger.

So I thought I was going to read about an kick butt assassin who defied the odds of an omega and still retained some of herself. This is not that.

I hated that an alpha actually spanked a grown women when she did not answer his personal question like he wanted. I mean he went to town like she was a child since you MUST obey the alpha no matter what. If not, of course pain is the answer.

Then it was ok for a pack of wolves to chase and pound a woman they just met, who knows nothing about being a wolf. After all, that is your right as an alpha and she went into heat less than 12 hours after becoming a wolf.

So at 42% I gathered that the MC would not be able to do anything she wanted and would be kept in lockdown and used as a sex doll constantly at the will of the men, who do not care anything about what she wants.

Final straw. She doesn’t want kids, but none of them cared enough to use protection.

This is a no for me.

There were so many things in this book that bothered me. I didn't like the writing or the plotting and I found all the heroes and our heroine to be very boring.

Going into this book, I was interested because of the assassin element. Our heroine Finley is, in theory, an assassin but that is so unimportant to the plot. There's a bit at the ending and a bit at the beginning and that's it. The way she responds to things at the end makes her seem ridiculously stupid as well. She is a bad character who makes all the wrong choices.

The heroes were bad too. When I read omegaverse, I like protective heroes but I also prefer a more family-like dynamic. You do not get that here. The hierarchy of the pack in this is so strict. At one point, Finley just doesn't answer a question and the alpha drags her into a room to spank her like she is a misbehaving child. I don't like spanking as an undiscussed punishment because it seems so infantilizing. It made me really dislike the heroes. There's also other stuff about how because Finley is an Omega she has to obey alphas and she can't tell others what to do. It made the whole relationship seem somewhat dubious consent-wise but also never fully leaned into that in a way that was interesting. It just seemed to make Finley in a biologically-determined doormat of a character.

No spoilers for the ending but this is a cliffhanger of a ridiculous magnitude. The book basically just ends in the middle of a scene with no satisfying wrap-up. I know this is a series but each book in a series should stand on its own plotwise and this does not. Nothing happens through the whole middle of the book. It was so boring only my anger was compelling me to finish this.

Some other petty things I disliked. There are a set of twins in this book and they constantly refer to each other as "twin" like they'll say, "hi twin, how are you?" I am not a twin but I do have a sister and never in my life have I ever been like "hi sister, what's up? It made it seem like the author was definitely an only child and she had never interacted with siblings before. Truly an incredible feat.

Also, the author was clearly at parts trying to go for a "supernatural creates as a metaphor for oppressed minorities" thing, which can work very well but it so so surface level here and so poorly incorporated into the actual story that it just seemed kind of gross and it annoyed me. Take this paragraph for instance,

Now, if a doctor or teacher was outed as a super, they would lose their jobs. Despite many supers’ attempts to educate the public, many people still believed they could be changed by a simple touch. If that wasn’t the case, then they feared us, thinking we couldn’t be trusted with vulnerable populations because we were “monsters.”

This is basically the rhetoric around gay men during the AIDS crisis and to see it here when no other work goes into making that a part of this world and story really made me kind of mad. It felt very much in the vein of X-men two where they do something similar but at least they kind of pulled it off.

Between a TSTL heroine and heroes who couldn't decide whether they wanted to be aggressive or protective, I just didn't enjoy this. If the author wanted to write a more violent, dub-con story, she should have fully leaned into it. If she wanted the soft protector alphas, she should have made that clear. Instead, we get a muddled mess with annoying characters. Even though this ends with a massive cliffhanger, I definitely won't be continuing.

No just no first off Fmc Finley keeps mentioning that she an assassin and she supposedly so strong willed.
second she gets bit by an omega and the rules for an omega to turn someone completely goes against everything she’s supposed to be, it’s supposed to be incredibly rare for an omega to turn someone and the person who gets turned would’ve been a omega( weak can’t defend themselves wants to do everything to please the alphas😒) if they were born a wolf it but it happens and I thought ok she going to defy the odds and be a strong omega NOPE .
First one of the alphas spanks her for not answering a question to his liking which sends her into her first shift then they send her on her first hunt she shouldn’t be able to kill for herself but she does she takes down a deer but cause she’s an omega she eats last the alphas take her deer starts eating it and give her a few pieces this sends her into a heat SIX count them SIX MEN she literally just met chase her and each takes turns PHUCKING her one of the alphas(the one who spanked her )says and I quote “run to my house because whether it’s in a bed or the dirt( they were in the woods) I’ll be pounding in that pussy. She got absolutely no say in that🤬 and even though they knew she didn’t want kids none of them took any precautions. All of this happed in the ten or so hours she’s known them. IM THROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED these 4 and 5 stars reviews are misleading

I've been excited for this one since it was previewed in the Princess/Alphaholes anthology and it did not disappoint. Elizabeth created a shifter world with a stricter hierarchy than your everyday shifter books while throwing in lots of twists and turns that really add to the plot. Finley really struggles in this book to be both an omega and assassin so we see her go through lots of emotions. The guys are not used to having a mate, let alone one who is brand new to being a wolf, so there is some adjustment but for the most part they are great with Finley. I specifically loved Zander and Elias. It does end on a cliffhanger but nothing brutal.

No mm or hints of it imo, there is a girl who likes one of Finley's mates and is kinda mean but no real OW drama, fated mates, heats, knots, & twists and turns

I love this book. The author has written an intricate story with unique characters. This Omegaverse is different from others with a depth to the story and characters. The FMC struggles with the challenges that she faces. The men are multi dimensional. This book left me wanting more

So far, im really digging it.
The characters are all really likable in their own unique ways.
The playfulness between a few of them is really entertaining.
The whole concept of the book is super fucking cool.

Finley is a badass assassin, turned omega werewolf…plus a little something something for flavor…
I love it.
I’m wondering if we get another mate in the next book.

Imma go find out. 🤞🏻

Just as the story picked up it ended, with a cliffhanger. Being an omega wolf seems like a curse & the only thing saving the FMC is she finally came into her elf status & that seems pretty badass. Book 2 will be released in 6 months & it’s unlikely I’ll remember anything come June 2022.

Dual Nature started off with a bang the story starts off with Finley pulling off a job, an assassination, because that's what she does, she's an assassin. Finley is methodical, smart, quick-witted, and thinks on her feet and all of that makes for a great assassin. She is most definitely a morally grey character but her heart leans towards the good, she isn't a psychopath, she doesn't enjoy suffering. Everything is going great until it isn't and a job goes horribly wrong and somehow a human Finley finds herself turned into a wolf shifter and omega wolf shifter and she's left wondering how will those omega instincts fit in with her assassin instincts, she's been with the Organization since she was five and it's hard to rewire yourself.

Luckily she ends up in a pack with six hot and powerful wolf shifters as its leaders. Three alphas, Colt, Lane, and Zander. Colt is a natural leader, Lane is a leader with a kinder heart while Zander is the lone wolf with a bit of a temper and has an annoying little brother vibe. The three betas are Elias, and the twins Noah and Mason. Elias is the silent type with a traumatic past, Noah is the calm thoughtful one and Mason has a temper and is quick to act one way or another. All six are great men who care about people and treat their omega with care and respect. Finley really lucked out with this group, did I mention that they are all possessive, caring, and sexy as heck.

The story was fantastic a crazy unpredictable plot twist popped up right before halfway through that totally through me. Not to mention the Dark Ring, a crazy underground group that are pure evil. Their mistreatment of shifters is despicable and they're up to nefarious means. Not to mention the Organization who is made up of assassins most definitely is keeping something from Finley, something about her past and they can't be trusted. Then add on the United Senate, the supernatural government, on top of all of that, the very group who instead of helping people strikes fear into all supernaturals aren't on the up and up themselves.

Elizabeth Knight had written a face pace and totally intriguing omegaverse. Dual Nature was her first dip into the genre and she has done a fantastic job but what else would I expect from one of my favorite authors. Dual Nature started with a bang and ended with one as well. I can't wait to get my greedy little hands on the next book in the series.

I’m not sure what happened with this one. I liked it, the confident assassin, meeting with Cory and smoothly finding the pack. The immediate spanking and pecking order was a bit annoying and mating the alphas was really quick. Zander came across as a dick but quickly changed, Whilst Colt and Lane seemed to be just the alphas. I preferred the betas and their caring, nurturing sides. The twist comes at 40% when a human turned omega isn’t enough and instead Finely is a mystical light elf. The pack themselves felt reactive and just the typical possessive type. With three alphas, I’m surprised the Peggy and Craig situations happened. I started losing interest with the pack trying to stick Finley in a bubble and then with Finley being the sacrificial type. The ending was expected, with yet another mate added to the mix. Fast paced with a growing harem and bad guys everywhere.

Recap:

FMC – Finley – Omega wolf/light elf
Guys – Alphas - Colt, Lane, Zander – Betas - Morgan, Noah, and Elias – Light elf – Rathal

Assassination goes wrong…Omega Finley joins Cory’s brothers pack…discipline, sex and change…dead Craig…Nesting…jealous Peggy…assassination…betrayal…another mate and two enemies cliffhanger.

This was one of the books I was most looking forward to from the anthology! It was an enjoyable read.

The plot was solid and I enjoyed the beginning. After Finley is taken to the alpha’s home, I do think the plot is a little faster paced than I was expecting, so I didn’t love how quickly everything played out with the alphas.

I don’t think we really get to know the characters that well throughout, and I just wanted a little more in that aspect. The separation from wolf and human in regard to Finley was a little annoying, i didn’t like how there didn’t seem to be much communication between them, especially since only bitten humans who would’ve been born as an omega could’ve been turned into one. It just seemed like Finley didn’t have the natural omega disposition so i didn’t fully understand how she so easily fell into it. I think a bit more pushback into accepting everything would’ve been more exciting to read.

The ending was just not my fav and used one of my least favorite tropes - the self sacrificing fmc with no communication. It always has to happen to lead to something else but it never fails to irritate me.

I’ll probably read book 2.

Easy and fast-paced.

I think she's up to 7 mates, and might end up with more...?
I guess she'll be busy.

Would've liked more killing and assassinations and less stumbling, fumbling, sprinkled with stupid.

Got better and better

I have to say that the beginning of this book was interesting. All the assassin things and the missions was entertaining but as soon as Finley, the FMC, got bitten and discovered her "dual nature", the story became a bit boring.
The blurb mentionned dub-con not involving the FMC but I disagree with it. For me, the scene with Cory wasn't dub-con, it was rape. And what happenend during Finley's heat and the Alpha's rut was dub-con... Made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I'm not as well a big fan of the three Alpha guys. There were too bossy, tried to control Finley and almost abused of their power over her. I really much prefer the betas and can't wait for them to mate!
But eventually the storyline got more and more interesting, filled with more mysteries about Finley.
The end of the book was epic! Finley could be herself again, a badass assassin, and met somebody who promised to be a key character (and a very sexy one!!!).
So I very look forward the next book!

The main character goes from bad ass to weak asf in 0.2 seconds after “becoming an omega” also she only has bonds with three of the six men. With it being a reverse harem I expected her to develop feelings and bonds with each of the pack mates including the twins and Elias. Just overall a very poorly written book plot wise and character development wise.

Plot seemed good, but I couldn't stand the writing style. It feels like it's written for a thirteen year old.

Childish language, and cozy parties in bean bags. Yikes.

Finely is a trained killer, who while on a mission to assassinate someone, is bitten by a wolf. By law, she is no longer human, but an Omega werewolf. Usually a loner, she finds herself taken in by the biggest pack and with some new love interests. But danger is still out there and she must learn to rely on someone other than herself.

Finely is the definition of female bada**. She is strong, stubborn and sassy, which makes for the perfect lead. Her men are all swoon worthy and treat her like a queen, and the author did a great job in creating love interests we all fall in love with.

The writing is spot on as always, and while the plot isn't really unique, the author put their spin on it to make it different than other similar stories.

The author provided a copy. This is my honest review.

Finley is an assassin, but after a job goes wrong she is turned into an omega. But there is also something more. I loved this twist on the omegaverse stories. Finley is fierce and independent and now has to try to integrate these new omega tendencies. I kind of love her betas a little more as they seem to get the conflict for her, and the alpha’s while hot, seem a little thick sometimes. The ending has some more twists and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This isn’t really a typical OV novel. There wasn’t any sort of family dynamic like typical OV novels. Instead, we get an inherently misogynistic book where the Alpha’s physically reprimand the FMC for not answering a question because “yOu aLwAys AnSwER yOuR AlPHa.” lol ok.

All of the MMCs were assholes and lowkey treated the FMC like an object rather than understanding her. It was gross.

Absolutely loved this book, it’s so unique and kept me on the edge of my chair with the suspense and mind blowing twists.
This book is extremely well written with such emotion and detail, I honestly couldn’t put it down.
Loved Finley the main character, her life is thrown into chaos and she still such a strong determined women. Then there’s the hot AF alpha and betas, wow! Steamy scenes are off the charts, knitting and more.
That cliff hanger ending was spectacular, can’t wait to see what going to happen next.

I am not sure how I finished this other than I had hope that it would “improve” at some point and I am left very confused. The author was all over the place and the characters lacked depth. The MC was awesome and then became insecure and stupid. What gives with that? Does that mean submissive means lack of judgement and intelligence. Like I have said, I am confused and in the end disappointed. It had promise.

This book was such a pleasantly surprise!
I'm all about RH this days so i'm always trying to find new authors to obsess about in this genre.
And when the blurb from this book mentioned something about possessive alphas, well i just knew i had to read it.
I barely read my first book by Elizabeth Knight and i'm already anxious to more. Her writing was not tiring at all and the chemistry between the characters was fire!
Finley, the heroine, is such an amazing character. I mean she was a badass assassin, super independant, and still when she became an omega she showed us a softer, more delicated side. I get she was struggling with her DUAL NATURE, but honestly i think she managed all that without losing her trueself. She was not one of those heroines that just let men walk all over her. Even with her now changed self, she fought with the guys for the stuff she wanted to do.So yeah she was one of the beast FMC i've ever read.Loved her.
And the guys are so yummi i can't even.Loved all their possessive and caring sides.
I'm not usually into Omegaverse, basically cuz every RH i find about this theme has MM or even FF and that's not my thing, i'm a selfish girl and i like the attention just on the girl, and of course, the girl's attention just on her guys.So this a new and different read for me, but i definely loved.I know i repeat the word "love" so many times but well i really did and i want to express that!

Elizabeth Knight strikes again with a brilliantly original story! Full of action, lust, pain and so much more, you’ll never see what’s coming!

Finley is such a fantastic character! Unique and bada**, she is thrust into a new world unexpectedly changing her ‘Lone Wolf’ status to one of pack. But nothing ever goes as expected, right? The thrilling world that Elizabeth Knight has created had me waiting with baited breath as each moment came fruition. With Finley adapting to her new dual nature and the world of politics and underground runnings coming into play, Finley must fight with everything she has.

The connections that Elizabeth Knight builds between the characters are so strong and undeniable right from the start. It’s astounding to me how Elizabeth Knight can make me fall so hard and deep for characters in such a short amount of time, but boy did I! Finley and her mates had me captivated right away! But with the threat on Finley’s head, I was so scared for them and what they might go through as the story progresses (if that doesn’t tell you how in love with these characters I am I don’t know what will!). But one thing I do know, Finley and her mates will fight to the death to save and protect one another.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes!!

DNF 34% - Main character and alpha personalities disgusted me. Not your usual sweet or sexy omega-verse book. Might be my least favorite book ever.

The main character started out okay(ish). She seemed like a strong, independent woman who had her own life. The second she became an omega I wanted to punch her in the face. The most pathetic and annoying character I have read in a long time.

This novel is not your usual omega-verse book with authoritative, protective, and caring alphas and betas. The alpha males in this book would make me run FAR in the opposite direction. They were controlling and mentally abusive in a way that makes me think the author should seek therapy if they think this is sexy/attractive.

I put this as last because the other aspects made me so mad that this wasn't even a blip on the radar, but the writing was OK. It was a little choppy and didn't flow very well as I was reading it.

Finley is my spirit animal. I love her. She’s sassy snarky and a badass. The guys are sexy and oh god are they over the top alpha-holes. Corey broke my heart. But I can’t wait for a certain someone and organization to be taken down and snuffed out. This was fast paced and before you know it, it’s over. So dang good can’t wait for the complete story. This was part of the princess and her alphahole a anthology. Now reading the complete story…you need this book in your life. Holy crap is this author good with those darn hooks at the end. Can’t wait for book two.

Assassin by trade, omega by heart

I've been anxious to read the full first book of the Omega Assassin series since getting a peek at it in the Princess and her Alphaholes anthology. It was one of my favorites, and I definitely was not disappointed with the rest of the story that Knight added onto it!
Finley was such an easy character to love. Although an assassin from a young age, she wasn't as cut-throat and cold-hearted as you'd expect her to be. Even though she was trained to not let feelings get in the way, she wasn't immune to her emotions but knew to keep them under lock and key to avoid any mishaps in her job. Becoming an omega was the complete opposite of everything she had been trained to do. It's impossible to imagine being in that type of situation and having to unlearn decades of conditioning to be able to adapt to and interpret new emotions as an omega with high empathic tendencies.
However, being an assassin, it should come as no surprise that this change in her life, although unexpected (and probably unwelcome at times) didn't shut her down. She didn't shy away from her new role, as difficult as the change may have been for her, but instead actually tried to learn as much as she possibly could about being a wolf. Knowledge is power and Finley needs to learn that becoming an omega doesn't take away any power that she originally had and instead gives her more than she could ever imagine when she learns how to put it to use. Omegas may sometimes be seen as weak, but I don't see Finley succumbing to that mindset.
The plotline of this story was more complicated than I expected it to be but I really enjoyed the twists Knight added into the story with Finley's heritage and how everything was connected in some way. Was it a coincidence that Finley was the assassin chosen to go on that particular mission in the beginning of the book? There has got to be more to that than what everyone around her knows and the idea of someone playing her is an intriguing one that I want to get more information on. At this point, I think the only people that can be trusted are her current and future mates; everyone else is questionable at the least. I have a feeling that this is going to be one long and complicated journey for Finley as she discovers more about herself, about what the Senate and the Organization want, and how to fully stop the Dark Ring and their cruelty towards shifters and other supers. Becoming an omega is possibly the least of her worries at this point.
I can't wait to see how much Finley is capable of when she takes her assassin training and fuses it with her new skills as an omega wolf and her other heritage. Someone may have put a target on her back, but I don't think they are prepared for Finley and her men. Can't wait for the next book!
