The case of Lori Vallow (aka Lori Daybell) and her husband Chad Daybell is one of the most bizarre, shocking, and heartbreaking stories we’ve ever come across.
In fact, totally unbelievable is the phrase that springs to mind.
If we wrote about this in one of our fiction books we’re positive we would be mauled for writing something so far-fetched, it couldn’t possibly have occurred.
But, we can assure you, every word is true, and while the finer details are sketchy, hopefully, the upcoming trial will provide more clarity.
Truth definitely IS stranger than fiction, as you will find reading this well-told story that shows the life of Lori Vallow...A former beauty queen with so many people dying in her wake! We are able to follow this bizarre tale through trials, reports and interviews...Put together in a way that makes seeing all the strange things going on clear and even More disturbing! I just was shocked at the weird religious views, the sad treatment and care of her children, the unbelievable things she was able to get away with! Any who enjoy true-crime will benefit from this concise tale! Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow...If it Were Fiction you would find it a silly, wild story...The fact that it is TRUE absolutely scares the heck out of me for All!!! I can not wait for the next part to this story!!
I'm still a little shocked having just finished reading this story. It's incomprehensible that people would do such things and as Marcus and Netta say in their introduction, "If we wrote this in one of our fiction books, we're positive we would be mauled for writing something so far-fetched". Having said that, it's absolutely fascinating and I'll be waiting (not so) patiently for book 2. Highly recommended!
WOW!!!!!.... This True Crime story has left me absolutely Gobsmacked !!!!!
An absolutely mind blowing read looking into the absurd lives of Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell. This case boarders on the bizarre with Lori and Chad's religious beliefs and their life style, influencing strange behaviours and cruel outcomes. I believe they are both nutcases and I hope they pay for the horrific crimes they have committed!!!!!
I highly recommend this book, I could not put it down.
Overall, this book is not worth purchasing so please don't waste your money! At best it is confusing and misleading, it is also poorly constructed and does not relay the events as they occurred, one is left feeling like they need a guide to the actual real life story. So if you know the story well feel free to use that as a guide, because you will need it! This book was clearly written by someone with little knowledge of how to construct the English language coherently, and in my mind, Ms. Newbound needs to re-educate herself in the basics of core construction of the English language. There are five fundamental elements of grammar: punctuation, tense, word order, determiners, and connectors. These five elements work together to create meaning, and when any of them are used incorrectly, meaning can be changed or lost, and that is evidently what happened here. Perhaps Ms. Newbound should attend adult classes to enhance her understanding of grammar, this would improve her writing style!
The book consists of a dreadful mishmash of he said, she said statements that have not even been granted the status of direct speech. Her writing is so flat and weak that it leaves one wondering who is speaking and what their point actually is! I don't believe this author understands that if one points out when someone speaks, directly, it actually improves the overall direction and flow of the article. Direct speech allows a writer to develop an engaging dialogue that captures an individual's mood, tone, opinion, and character. It removes the writer's need to mediate dialogue between their subject and the reader. As a result, the reader is offered a firsthand account of the experiences of the subject. In this book, there was definitely no attempt to do so and what is there is written very poorly, to the point that there is no attempt to demonstrate when a character uses incorrect language, I doubt that the author understands the idea of 'creative license.'
Furthermore, this book had definitely not been proof read, there are so many grammatical errors of the author's own making, and so many instances where words are missing or of incorrect usage, it truly leaves the reader feeling confused! Ms. Newbound does not come across as credible, she comes across as amateurish and definitely poorly versed in her home language!
Usually I read books quite quickly, not this book, I only continued to read it because it was laughable. Being an ex teacher of science and functional skills, I always spot grammatical errors and poor sentence construction, therefore, it was glaringly obvious that this writer lacks knowledge of either. This book was so very disjointed, it read as if the writer was typing the book off the cuff with no thought about the crux of the subject or the characters. It does not appear to have been researched, planned, drafted, corrected and rewritten. It appears as if someone knew the story and wanted to put it into their own words just to say they were capable of writing a book. I just wanted to take the whole thing and rewrite it myself.
I understand and acknowledge that the story is real life and quite fast moving. However, that should have made the author plan with rigour, her timeline needed to be spot on, she needed to plan with care, without that one loses track of what happened, where it happened, to whom, etc...and honestly, she did lose track and so does the reader. There appeared to be no forethought of timeline, place, person, nothing at all. The story rolled together as if a 10 year old had attempted a subject out of their grasp.
It was not a page turner, even though the actual story is very interesting and I have read several other accounts by accomplished writers. Therefore, I will never bother to read anything more by this author, she is way too wishy washy with her written word, she needs to develop her writing style, because currently she is nowhere near ready to attract avid readers.
However if you are new to this case you shall find a timeline along with word for word transcripts of what is on YouTube which are the most accessible videos on this case.
As someone who knows this case very well I am glad I got this for free on a three month trial with kindle unlimited or I would’ve been disappointed I paid for this book as I knew everything in it and more that is in this book.
This book is a transcript of the interviews from the key players in this case, if you don’t watch nor listen to YouTube or watch the interview specials with the key players you might find this ok, yet you are missing absolutely nothing here at all if you are versed in this absolutely horrid true crime case.
Try as I might, I cannot understand why any parent would be able to kill or have their children killed. The cult like situation that Chad was involved in obviously affected Lori's mind in a way that she would believe anything he said. Not saying Lori was involved in the murder of het children, but she does know what happened to them. I pray that those involved with the deaths of Tylee and JJ are convicted and locked away for the rest of their natural lives. At no time did those kids (or Chad's first wife) deserve to die. May this come to a correct ending once it goes to trial.
Just repetitive transcripts. EXACT Same as found on YouTube and Court TV. I thought the authors would ACTUALLY WRITE SOMETHING INSTEAD OF PROFITING OFF PUBLIC RECORDS. WOW. I will NOT read anymore books by this author and the Recommendations I'm giving are as follow: In my opinion it's a waste and a darn shame what these "authors" are doing. Don't waste your time just turn on the news.
Lori Vallow part one the Missing children by Netta Newbound and Marcus Brown. I really enjoyed this. Love hearing or watching about murderers and killings. This was written very well. From the start I didn't like Lori. She sounded rotten. I'm really looking forward to part 2. 5*.
I had no clue about this story until reading this book. Although the case is on going, the detail provided in this book has allowed me to analyze what is out there and draw my own conclusion. It's also encouraged me to stay up to date with the trial and the weird twists and turns it's taken.
I think it was a strange book A former Beauty queen had a following dying in her wake They were religious views And the awful things of her children I had an ARC
