Ophelia Banner feels trapped by the deal she made. With rumors an old friend could still be alive, her agreement to track down and transport four missing dragons drags like an eternity. And she’s terrified that bonding with Elias may sever her sensing abilities and leave a loyal companion chained in their enemy’s lair. Elias Kraus doesn’t know how much longer he can put off the inevitable. Supporting Ophelia’s new leadership role is one thing, but he suspects her unyielding connection to another man is placing them all in danger. And with her suffering unexplainable blackouts and her powers malfunctioning, he fears if they don’t bond soon, all will be lost. As Ophelia resists her pull into Elias’s arms, her magic spirals out of control and threatens the safety of her allies. And after one of his agents vanishes, Elias’ mission to uncover the traitor among them may be racing to a fatal finale. Can Ophelia and Elias ride the troubled waters of duplicity and end the conflict forever? Fated is the fast-paced fourth book in The Conduit Chronicles adult urban fantasy series. If you like page-turning action, torn heroes, and twisted betrayals, then you’ll love Ashley Hohenstein’s sweeping adventure.
I was born in Paradise and spent my childhood in Northern California. If you have never spent time up here, I highly recommend a visit. Beautiful rolling hills, excellent hiking trails and a variety of water ways to explore. My childhood was complicated, a blend of joy filled memories and deep tragedy. My father died when I was seven and then my stepfather when I was eleven. As you can imagine these two life altering events left a distinct mark on my spirit, but perhaps not always in the ways one would expect. A very immediate result was a sudden appetite for reading and writing. I got lost in the imaginative worlds I could discover in the pages of a book. Where life felt uncertain, my favorite authors were constant. In addition, I could get lost in my own fantastical imagination and create my own safe place. This is where my writing journey began, little did I know where it would take me.
Fast forward to my twenties, I was running a successful massage business and going to college for nutrition and kinesiology, clearly creative writing was not on my radar. At twenty five I decided I needed a shift in gears. I desired adventure. I escaped to Europe for three months, saw twelve countries and discovered my voice in more ways than one. As I traversed the countryside by train, bus and my own two feet, a story began to tickle the back of my mind. A tale of great love, magical beasts and fantastical characters, the Conduit Chronicles was burgeoning into something tangible. Being immersed in history, ancient architecture and rich cultures lit a spark, all I had to do was fan the flame.
So, I did, I came home and bought a new laptop. Fingers to the keys I began to flush out the Conduit world. The first book would take me seven years to finish. Found was published in January 2018. There was no stopping the words from flowing after that. Between marriages, divorces, illness and natural disasters I pumped out six more books by the end of 2022. The final installment was published in January 2026.
My author journey has taken me on wild adventures in my mind, but also in the world at large. I spent three years living abroad in Costa Rica, Colombia and Mexico. What started out as a writers sabbatical turned into a transformative journey of self-discovery. The plot is always thickening and the miracles that abound never cease to amaze me. I am still writing. I am also an ancestral medicine retreat facilitator. My own healing journey led me to the indigenous people of the jungles of Costa Rica, the mountains of Colombia and the beaches of Mexico. I fell in love with my own Duality and founded The Divine Duality Project, a collaboration of healers and medicine. My team and I pride ourselves on taking the road less travelled and helping others do the same, ultimately walking them home to themselves—the greatest journey anyone will ever take.
At the moment I am stateside again with my trusted companion and puppy Devina Eepa Kangeroo, fondly called Vina. My tribe here in Northern California helped me with a van conversion (The Mags). The next chapter includes retreats, healing circles and van life.
Life has been messy, beautiful, lovely, and challenging all at once. I feel blessed to get to chase my dreams in all their diversity with wild abandon. I hope that anyone reading this gets the opportunity to do the same.
This story just keeps getting better. Not only do we get the POV from Olly, Elias, and Esther but we are able to get the POV of Lucas once more. Fated, has so many twist and turns it will keep you on your toes to the very end. Yes this ends in a cliffhanger and making you wish you had book 5 like yesterday. This is a must read!! The story continues on the journey that Olly and Elias with the other companions have to find the remaining Dragons and hold their end of the bidding. This alone has its hardships and challenges as Olly continues to grow and wishes to find Lucas. As she grows her relationships get tested along the way she has to find herself and not lose it as her powers grow. I’m so thankful to have been part of the ARC team to read this to give my honest review. I truly enjoyed this book and it had way more development than I expected but was need as it helps fit the puzzle pieces together to lead you toward the biggest cliffhanger yet… Oh Ashely why did you do this to us! Now I’m looking forward to book 5 and can’t wait to re read this again to continue to get more details out of this story and the Conduit world that Ashely has so brilliantly created.
The 4th installment in The Conduit Chronicles is soooo good! Make sure you set aside plenty of time, because once you start this book, it's hard to put it down until you are done!! The character developments are amazing, surprising, and extremely thought out. The story line takes us in directions that I never imagined. I have read and reread this whole series several times, I just cant get enough, and I cant wait to get MORE from this fantastic author.
I’m blown away. Ashley has done what she does best… again! She is such a master at character development and Book 4 (FATED) adds so much depth to the characters that we’ve come to know, love and yes, even hate. This book digs deep into The Conduit Chronicle world, leaving you laughing, crying, sad and even angry! It was unputdownable and I can not wait until Book 5.
