She's not looking for Mr. Forever - just Mr. Right Now. He's playing for the city's first football championship in forty years. Neither were betting on love.

Leslie McClunis didn't give up ballet for firefighting to be told she'd get ahead if she acted more 'feminine.' As far as she's concerned, she's allowed to cuss like a guy and kick her one-night stands to the curb in the morning like a guy.

Trevor Hampton is not used to being shown the door as football's biggest, baddest defensive end. Not a fan of losing, he wants Leslie for more than a night. Nothing will stop him from capturing his very own firefighting wildcat.

Not even someone stealing his football team. . .

WARNING: This steamy romance is burning hot and loosely based on the 1995 football season. You should only read if you wish Grey's Anatomy and Chicago Fire had a ton more naughty scenes starring ripped football players.

This book was amazingly captivating. I loved it. It gets steamy from the very beginning, which is great. The characters were beautifully written. I found myself lost in this book while reading. I didn’t want to put it down. Great way to start a series.

This is book one in The Metrogen Downtown short romance and it is Leslie and Trevor's story and even though it is a short story it is a must read as it is a great start to a new series. Leslie works hard to earn her place at Firehouse 15 and she plays even harder with her one night stands as she has no need or want a relationship but all that changed when she has a one night stand with Trevor who for some reason she can't get him out of her mind or forget the amazing night that they had together. Trevor is a.well known footballer and he is good at what he does but after having an amazing one night stand with Leslie he wants to see her again but she has put up walls so high that it will take some time to break them down but he can be patient as he feels that the end results will definitely be worth it. The chemistry between them is so hot that you could feel it sizzling of the pages of the book but will it be enough for them to get a chance of a happy ending. I absolutely love this book and series and I definitely recommend you read it and you will not be disappointed as Carina Alyce is a brilliant author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

I really enjoyed this steamy sports romance that gets you hooked from the first page. This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more of this series for sure!

When you meet Leslie, she is all about being a firefighter and lots of sass. She meets Trevor and everything changes. At first just one night leads to Trevor wanting more and I loved that Trevor was also very devoted and focused on being great in the NFL. At first, I was not sure about Leslie, because of how she came across to the point of being downright rude, but the more I read this book, I saw why she came across stubborn, rude but also passionate about being a firefighter. I loved Trevor's character and just his love for Leslie and his love for his football team as well with his drive and focus on winning.

This is a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book!

Trevor and Leslie's Story . . .

Trevor Hampton and Leslie McClunis had a passionate one-night-stand. Neither meant it to last. Leslie is putting all her energy into being a tough female firefighter at Firehouse 15. She has to work hard for every bit of respect she earns. Having Trevor on her mind is a distraction she doesn’t need.

Trevor is football's premier defensive end. But all his attention now is focused on getting another date with the firefighter wildcat he shared one night with. He’s under a bit of pressure because Trevor plays for Cleveland, and it's Fall 1995 where rumors are saying the owner has been holding secret meetings in Baltimore. Do they want to work something out and start a relationship? Or will they miss out on something that could be very special for them?

Wildcat by Carina Alyce was the first book I had read from her. I enjoyed the book thoroughly as it was a quick read and very steamy. I enjoy books that I learn from and in Wildcat where the main female character is a firefighter and the main male character is a pro Football player I learned different aspects in both fields that I had never known or thought of.

It did catch me off guard at first and took a couple of chapters to be able to follow the storyline. However, once I was able to figure out what was happening it was very much enjoyable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a steamy, quick read this is the one for you.

Lovely easy quick romance with lots of humour and feisty attitude (from both characters although I think Leslie wins most rounds).

A lot about proving themselves as individuals before allowing anything to work as a couple.

Sweet yet steamy too.

Sexy doesn't do this book justice...

The chemistry between Leslie and Trevor is off the charts. Her fierce attitude and his teddy bear qualities fit together perfectly. I hated the story ended... pick this book up. You won't be disappointed.

Leslie kept her voice low, “Why are you here?”

“To show my appreciation for our local firefighters,” her one-night stand said.

“Bull. How did you find me?” While his bedroom skills were exemplary, the definition of a one-night stand was that they went away after and were never seen or heard from again.

“Phone book sitting next to your mail,” Trevor told her.

“You can’t be here.”

“Why not? It’s a public building. City taxes paid for it, and I’m a taxpayer.”

“My pickups don’t follow me to work,” Leslie hissed.

“Oh, so you do this often?” Trevor asked with an edge.

“That’s no business of yours,” she retorted.

“If we’re discussing one-night stand edict, most women would at least offer me coffee.”

“It’s the guy who offers the coffee, not the other way around. Who’s giving you your advice? Dr. Ruth?” Leslie took a calming breath. He needed to go away before her team realized she’d slept with their favorite football player. “Why are you here?”

“I'm making sure we were cool.”

“Why wouldn’t we be?” Leslie started laying out napkins on the table.

“You tell me. We used protection every time, and we were sober.” He handed her a McRib.

She opened it and stuffed it in her mouth, eating as rapidly as possible. “Yes, we’re cool. Can you leave my firehouse?” she said with her mouth full and grabbed another one. She inhaled that one too. Hopefully, her lack of basic manners would convince him she was a dead end.

He watched her eat with a small amount of wonder in his expression. “I’ll leave on one condition. I want another date.”

“You want another date? Another roll in the hay?” Leslie was dumbfounded. No man in their right mind would have wanted to see her again when she was giving her best terrible disinterested jerk impression. “Did you get hit too many times in the head or something?”

“No, I want a date with you. Take you out to dinner.” Trevor rolled up her two discarded wrappers.

“You brought dinner. This counts,” Leslie said. This was not happening. She glanced at the clock. Any minute, her crew would come up the stairs. He needed to leave now.

“This doesn’t count; I want you and me alone for dinner. Do you wear dresses?”

“Yes, I wear dresses, but not here.”

“Then I’ll wear a tie, you’ll wear a dress, and we’ll go eat somewhere.”

“Can’t I just have sex with you again?” Leslie suggested instead. The sex had been very, very good, and it was usually a great bargaining chip.

“I refuse to put out. I want dinner.” He handed her another McRib, not deterred in the slightest.

“How about dinner and sex?” Leslie tried to offer.

He sighed. “If you force me into it. Most people would be excited if I asked them out.”

“I’m not most people, so ask one of them out,” Leslie retorted. Her temper was about to get the best of her, again.

“Are you being difficult on purpose?”

“No. You showed up to my place of work and are badgering me for a date. Shouldn’t I be pissed?”

He struck back, “You ditched me without a name or a phone number. Shouldn’t I be pissed?”

Leslie set her jaw. “Don’t you get I don’t have time for this? I’m working my ass off to get accepted, and I don’t need my one-and-done’s following me like a stray cat.”

He paused and then surprised her by replying, “You’re right. I don’t know how hard you had to work to be a firefighter. It had to be a lot, and I didn’t mean to make things harder for you.”

“Exactly. There’s only two women in the entire department, and they don’t need any excuses to get rid of me.”

“Agree to the date, and I’ll go away.”

“Why date me? I’m being a total asshole to you on purpose.”

In response, he picked her up and set her on the table. Before she could protest, he kissed her, mouth full of McRib and all. Her body very much wanted what he was offering, Her lips opened up, letting his tongue sweep in. His enormous arms enfolded her, pressing her against him.

Yep, her body definitely was willing to spend another night with him. Or have sex with him right here on the table.

Stupid body.

Trevor drew back and licked some of the McRib’s special barbecue sauce off the corner of her mouth. “Because of how that feels. And because you aren’t asking me for anything.”

She bit her lip for a second. He had the advantage here. She needed him to leave, and she wanted to get him naked again. This was a time where a temporary compromise would be worthwhile. “Fine. One date.”

“And could you wait until after the one date to find my replacement?”

“Or?” she said in her iciest tone.

“Or I’ll get dinner, and you’ll get no dessert,” he warned her.

“Fine. I work 24-hours on and 48-off. We can figure it out later. If you say a word in front of my firehouse, it’s off. The firehouse comes first. You don’t even come a close second or third.”

“I won’t come first. You will,” he promised . . .

Quick sports firefighter reluctant romance read. Lived up to the steamy title description 🔥

4.75 rounded up.

Fairly quick romance read. Definitely has those steamy scenes that make you yearn for more.

There’s 3 POVs in this novel, the FMC, the MMC, and the Chaplain (love his quick chapters and his internal monologue). This novel is set in ‘95 so there is limited technology compared to contemporary romances and I thought the author did a fantastic job with it (it’s like watching Buffy from the beginning all over again and both loving the reminiscence and cringing at it).

Loosely based on the ’95 Cleveland Brown football season. I loved the football references and the background, showing that the author not only did her homework but really understands the game. It’s still easy to read too which isn’t always the case. I really enjoyed reading Trevor’s mentality about his job, his relationship with Leslie, and the difficulties of standing behind a strong woman and supporting her without smothering her.

The ease of reading and understanding also goes for the firefighting aspect. I loved the fact that Leslie is a spitfire and is fighting for her right to be a firefighter in the mid-90s. We see some softer sides of her, such as her dancing background and learning how to open herself to a relationship with Trevor, but overall she is a kick-a$$ woman taking names with no regrets.

At 150 ebook pages, this novel reads fast but leaves you feeling completely satisfied. I will certainly be searching out the other books in this series!

Cw: hazing, violence against women, 90s nostalgia.

Wildcat is the first book in the MetroGen After Hours series by Carina Alyce. I had not read any of this author’s work before, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect going in. But the blurb read well and intrigued me enough to want to buy a copy to explore. What I found was a great firefighter romance with hot and steamy details as well as emotion, humour, banter, angst, push-pull, tension, suspense, and drama.
Leslie McClunis feels she’s had to work twice as hard as the men in her field and has to prove herself every day. She works hard and plays harder, enjoying her independence. She definitely doesn’t want or need a relationship tying her down. Then she has a one-night-stand with a hot football star who has other ideas. Will he be the man who finally tames this wildcat? You will have to read the story to find out all the interesting and steamy details for yourself.
This is a very quick and easy read, with just under 200 pages I zipped through the story very quickly. I did enjoy the story as it is but would have loved to read a longer version with even more details and what is here already being more fleshed out.
I also learned that ‘wildcat’ isn’t only a term used to describe our main female character, it is also a football term used to describe a play (offensive)where the ball is snapped to a player other than the quarterback.
And now I will definitely be looking for the rest of this series to read
Happy reading!

Thank you, Carina Alyce!

WoooHOO! I found a new steamy fun author to devour! This is one I could NOT put down. Thankfully it was a short and very easy to devour read that only kept me up slightly past my bedtime lol. I was hooked right into Leslie and Trevor’s story and completely captivated by the way this one just rolled off the kindle like a television show. I see now this seems to be a thing, maybe we should have some producers read these books and take note because I was way more entertained than I have been in a long while with my typical medical television dramas that I normally love and devour I have absolutely been a diehard fan so this book was right up my alley when I discover Leslie was a female firefighter making her way in a mans world. It just really made her a fun character to follow and love. Trevor was relatable and loveable even being a football player jock. These two will have you loving love and wanting the heat! I can’t wait to see what will come next!!

I haven't read anything by this author previously, but after reading the synopsis it sounded like a quick, hot read. It really was, but I was pleasantly surprised by the story I became drawn into. While the timeframe is set in the 90s, the ideas presented of women in a "manly" job, interracial relationships, one night stands can still be considered very modern.

Leslie is a badass firefighter, putting up with being treated as though she is out of place, interested in a hot guy she just wants a quick fling with - to relieve a little stress. Trevor is on board and they have a hot night together - but both can't stop thinking ofthe other. There are a lot of things that seem like they might not be able to tied together, but I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely a hot quick read, but not because there wasn't a lot of story to get engrossed in. Looking forward to getting into more of this series.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance (MetroGen After Hours #1) by Carina Alyce

This is the first book I've read by the author. Wildcat is a fantastic read and an easy read. I can relate to the character as a female firefighter. Wildcat is the first book in the MetroGen After Hours Series.

Trevor goes to a Bob Ross painting as a way to keep himself from drinking and finding a woman to take to bed. He didn't know that he'd find exactly that at the painting session. He's a football player, but this tiny woman captures his heart. The quote I chose for Trevor is: “Your job is to lay here. A lot of lying in bed.”

Leslie is working her butt off to make her job a good thing. Being one of the few female firefighters is hard and very scary. Trevor doesn't go away and she isn't sure what to do. The quote I chose for Leslie is: “I guess I'll keep you.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce. This was a steamy, hot short read. Its the story of Leslie McClunis who has always had to work twice as hard as anyone else to get where she needs to be. She is a firefighter at Firehouse 15 and of course she is outnumbered by her male coworkers. Having to prove herself day in and day out is exhausting and she really doesn't have time for a romance. When she meets Trevor Hampton who is a football defensive end she is shook. She is used to having one night stands and never wanting anything to tie her down but Trevor is different. She can't get enough of him and he feels the same way. She can't believe that she is even thinking about settling down but something about Trevor makes her want to. Will she be able to continue working day in and out at her job and have a relationship? Read Wildcat to find out!

This was a a feel good romance that was sweet, steamy, and fun. Trevor and Leslie had a chemistry and connection that was not going away. Leslie was focused on her job as a female firefighter, and trying to show her team she is just as good as one of the men. Meeting Trevor and having their one night stand throws everything off. Trevor is sweet and possessive. He is a teddy bear Alpha type all rolled in one. As a successful defensive end in the NFL for Cleveland he is determine to make Leslie his. As he fights to show Leslie they are meant to be, Leslie battles the men of the firehouse and the ill treatment she continues to verbally and physically receive.
Will Leslie and Trevor make it to find their HEA, or will her desire to prove herself be the downfall for them both?

This was my first read from this author and I loved it, definitely a 5 star read. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. Even though its a shorter read this couple quickly became one of my favorites.

Leslie is a firefighter and Trevor is a football player, both of them had no intentions of having a relationship. But….after a one night stand they both are having a hard time moving on.

Will they both let down their guard and try for something more?

I really loved these characters, Leslie was very independent and was like one of the guys. This is a great start to the new series. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce

Wildcat is a fast paced Steamy Firefighter Romance that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I absolutely loved this book and the characters are relatable and fully developed. This is a fairly new author to me but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what other books she has written. This is Leslie and Trevor’s story. She’s a Firefighter and he plays football. These two had one steamy night of passion and her normal is to send them packing. Can one night lead to more? Can they make a relationship work? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This book is scorching hot and it sucked me right in from the very first page. I absolutely love how Leslie breaks the mold in so many ways. She isn't afraid to take chances and go after what she wants in her personal life. She also works in a male dominated field and it's horrifying the things those monsters put her through simply because she is a woman. Trevor is such a sweet, patient man. He doesn't let her scare him away with all of the walls that she keeps throwing up and he loves to take care of her and show her that it doesn't mean she's weak if she leans on him sometimes. This book is full of heat, romance and danger and tackles misogyny. This is a definite must read and I'm so excited to read the next book in this series.

Great sports/firefighter romance. Leslie is such a strong and independent woman, I really loved her from beginning to end. Trevor is the one man that came into her life and was able to smooth our her rough edges. I hate that she had to endure so much to do a job she loved, a “man’s job” but she excelled, because women can be firefighters! I really enjoyed watching Leslie and Trevor’s relationship grow, Trevor’s love and dedication to their relationship is so sweet and watching him do anything and everything to keep them together makes me swoon. It is always nice when there is an epilogue and the hint at the next book looks like more drama and fun on the way.

This is the first book in the MetroGen Downtown series. We meet Trevor and Leslie who have an amazing night of passion that is supposed to be a one-night stand. Leslie is working hard to prove herself as a woman firefighter. Trevor is a football player who isn’t used to being told no. I am a sucker for a strong female lead in any book, and I love Leslie. My partner is a wildland firefighter and I know firsthand that it isn’t an easy job and loving one can be even harder. To be a female and going through the same struggles, I couldn’t even imagine. Can Leslie let down her defenses just a little to let Trevor in? This was a read full of steamy romance that I couldn’t put down.

While this was a new author to me, I personally look forward to reading more from this author. This story just blew me away, full of steamy details and emotions I just simply couldn't put it down. But our author didn't stop there this book is filled with everything a romance reader could ask for including angst, tensions, suspense, and of course drama. Leslie feels as a female firefighter she has to work twice as hard for everything she wants. Until a one nightstand with a football superstar, will it be a one night stand or will our Wildcat finally settle down? You'll have to read this story to find our for yourself. I personally can't wait for more from this author.

To be honest I am NOT a football fan… but I am a fan of women overcoming adversity and killing it through life… Leslie is an amazing character who deserves her happily ever after with her defensive lineman. I love how their romance started as a one night stand and blossomed into so much more because in this he decided to be more hard headed than her! This is a GREAT book with some very steamy parts. I loved it!!

I loved Leslie and Trevor’s story. Leslie was definitely my favorite. She proves that women are strong and can do whatever they set their minds too. But at the same time it also touches on the troubles we might face when working in a mostly male work place. Also the steam was the perfect amount and the romance was beautiful! Great read.

Leslie McClunis is a ballerina turned firefighter. The men in the department think she needs to be more “feminine” and that women don’t belong. She’s determined to show them she can do what they do; including kicking one night stands to the curb in the morning.

Trevor Hampton is a big, tough football player who is not used to being told his time is up. So when Leslie tries to say goodbye, he’s determined to take their one night as far as he can.

This story was short with quite a bit of fire in the bedroom. I really enjoyed the characters and felt that Leslie’s firecracker attitude was portrayed nicely. However, throughout the story are journal entries that I felt didn’t progress the story and felt really out of place. I’m not sure if I’m missing something that the MetroGen after hours series builds on or if more will be explained in books to follow.

If you like spicy scenes and spicy women, you’ll definitely enjoy parts of this book. I wish there was more buildup and more story for sure. I do plan to see if I can learn more in the next part of the series because it felt incomplete to me.

Before reading this book I had not read any of this author’s work but I was intrigued by the blurb and thought it looked like just the type of book I’d like. Thankfully I had made a good choice as I really enjoyed this book and if this is a typical example of the author’s work then I’m sure this will be a fantastic series.
Firefighter Leslie McClunis is a little ball of fire all on her own but despite this is the butt of cruel jokes and actions by her fellow colleagues at the fire station. Trevor Hampton is an NFL star who wants Leslie McClunis and isn’t used to women not falling at his feet and doing anything he wants.
I really enjoyed reading Leslie and Trevor’s story. When Leslie isn’t fighting fires, she’s creating fires all of her own, in the bedroom with Trevor (or any other room for that matter). This book is HOT and not just from the fires.
I loved how Trevor fought to get his woman and then fought to get her to allow him to fight for justice for her. He may be a big tough NFL player but he’s really a sweet guy who wants the world for his woman and isn’t scared to fight to get it.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of this series.

This book has romantic suspense as well as sports. The author does a good job of mixing these two and makes a great sports romance.

She isn't seeking for Mr. Forever; she is looking for Mr. Right Now. Everything changes when she brings her city's star football player home, and he begged for more. There's so much more Leslie McClunis didn't give up ballet to pursue a career in firefighting because she was told she'd be more successful if she behaved more 'feminine.' She's entitled to curse like a male and toss her one-night stands to the curb in the morning like a guy, in her opinion. As football's biggest and baddest defensive end, Trevor Hampton isn't used to being shown the door. He doesn't like to lose, therefore he wants Leslie for longer than a night. Nothing is going to stop him from getting his hands on his very own firefighting wildcat. Not even a thief of his football team.

I loved this story. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is my first book from this author and I can’t wait to read the rest of her books.
