Yūki Tabata (Japanese: 田畠裕基, Hepburn: Tabata Yūki) is a Japanese manga artist.
After working as an assistant to Toshiaki Iwashiro, he created the one-shot Hungry Joker, which was later serialized as a full series. After its conclusion, he launched Black Clover.
If I had to sum up this volume in one phrase, it would be, "Oh shit, we're fucked".
As much as I would love to gush over best girl Noelle's newest Valkyrie form and her bad-assery during her fight with Vanica, the inherent bad-assery of best boy Asta's and best everything Yami's fight against Dante, the conclusion of both fights sucked that joy right out. Tabata really went all out in showing what a threat the Dark Triad are and the power gap between our favorite mages and the scum of the Earth.
As if the pain of losing Lolopechka and Yami wasn't enough, seeing how devastated the Black Bulls, Noelle, and Mimosa were after the fights destroyed me. They literally look like death and frankly, I don't blame them. I'd look like that too if I lost someone precious to me to individuals that deserve to rot in the deepest depths of Hell.
So,yeah. Fun volume. Fun times all around. Yaaaaaaaaay.
New villains, major show hand between good and evil, more of the details about the MC and the demon in his sword is revealed, more information about who killed the heroine's mother, that's an engaging read, will read the next volume.
We get to the "oh no everything has gone wrong" part of the series. Where everyone survives (because it's plot-related and they need to survive) but the villains are doing a getting stronger! So now the heroes must get stronger too! Hell, they're literally told by the villains that they're being spared so that they can get stronger. And Asta is like "hmmmmm I remember when Naruto had to come to terms with the Kyuubi at the end and it was pretty satisfying, let's just... cut to the ending of that series without any buildup".
The fight Yami and Asta had against Dante was just next level, seeing how they had each other's back, counting on each other. Can't wait to see how Nacht helps Asta with his demon arm.

buoni scontri, promosso. Questa cosa di Nacht che spunta dal nulla ed è tutto quello di cui c'è bisogno in questo momento è moooolto tirato, ma ce la facciamo andare bene.
All our characters meticulous preparations for the upcoming battle and all the powering up they did were in vain. Painful volume. I can't wait to read more about Asta's devil.
And thats what you get for wearing a big old target on your chest Dante!
Asta is Yami’s son. Maybe not biologically, but in all the ways it counts. He even wears his cape like Yami. Together they defeat Dante and his regenerative magic. I knew when Yami started celebrating that this wasn’t even nearly the end. I was literally rolling my eyes because then he was there in the next panel. Zenon. Because we don’t know anything about his demon, name or power, I suspected he was the strongest. Vanica’s battle against the guys in the Heart kingdom was over pretty quickly so I’m guessing Dante was the weakest even if his devil is basically Lucifer. But that being said, maybe he had the stronger opponents.
Apparently Grey has some secret power that we don’t yet know and Astra’s connection with his devil is peculiar. Because the devil is in this world, inside the book, Asta has access to 100% of its power, if only he could figure out how to use it. And here comes someone who can help with that. The vice-captain. I’ve been wondering who the VC was going to be for this crazy band of mages. He doesn’t seem as crazy as the rest of the bulls, but he’s a devil user too. How come Yami didn’t mention that? Maybe he didn’t know.
Why are all these people hating on Asta? Even his own Devil is calling him weak. When he was crying my heart was kind of happy as I know it’s just going to spur him on to become badass. Asta talks to his devil, but the devil isn’t inside him is it? It’s in that book. Where do grimoires even come from? They are connected to the person but they come from a big library and apparently you can use an old one as Asta uses Lichts. But this is the only case we know of reusing a grimoire. So all the books in that big library, where do they come from? Surely someone didn’t make them. They are like wands in Harry Potter. The grimoire chooses the mage. But we know who makes wands, who makes grimoires? And the other devil guys. They can’t access all the power because they need to open a gate to do that so are they are still in the underworld.
Yami is honestly the best character. That smile when he was being taken away was definitely a hopeful and trusting one. He knows the Black Bulls aren’t going to let this go. This Nacht guy better stop hating on Yami or else we’re gonna have problems, but he seems alright so far and shadow magic is just one of the best. Dark magic for the captain and shadows for VC ‘ey? This is getting good.
This was another great volume like the previous ones. The fights are interesting and fun to read. The way the author is dealing with the whole Devil arc is also great. I was hesitant about the series but it seems to be going well. I especially liked the fight against Dante and Yami made it 4x better. This is also the volume in which we are introduced to an interesting character named Nacht Faust. Overall, I really liked it and curious about the new volumes.
Alas, I have reached the last published Volume of Black Clover! But the next Volume comes next week! Couldn't come soon enough! Highlights: - Vanica (host of Megicula) shows up at the Court of Lolopechka. She'll have to take out Noelle and Mimosa, but using both her Blood Magic, and her Curse Warding Magic, she might be able to. - We learn that people possessed by devils can use both their magic and the demon's. Because of the rare combination Vanica has, she is able to make all her minions cursed to be unkillable, which won't go away until she is defeated. - They get defeated, but not harshly. When Nero shows up, they think they'll be able to bind her, but she just calls on more of her devil's power. Vanica also stomps her own troops so that their energy can be absorbed into her. - Back to the fight with Dante and Yami, Dante has to call on more and more of his devil's power because Yami is that strong and uses incredible attacks. - Yami realizes he can't defeat Dante on his own, so he gets Asta to join in. Asta is so weak from his earlier beatdown, that he makes a deal with his own devil to gain access to more power. Asta does get a boost, but his arm turns black permanently (still need to see what this ultimately does). - Yami and Asta are able to reach new levels of power and they kill Dante. - Just as they begin to relax, Zenon shows up (having captured William Vangeance and slaughtered more than half of the Golden Dawn) and takes Yami through a portal. - The Magic Knights try to rest and regroup. - Yami's sword appears coming out of Asta's grimoire and as he starts to train, we meet a new character: Nacht, the Vice Captain of the Black Bulls, who has been gone a long time AND promises to teach Asta how to use his devil powers.
What a cliffhanger ending! I wonder how close to the anime I am.... If you are a shonen manga reader, you should be reading Black Clover. High recommend.
Vanica is fighting Noelle, Mimosa, and Lolopechka. As long as Vanica stands, her followers can't die.
Meanwhile Captain Yami is taking on Dante while the rest of the Black Bulls try to recover from the beating they just took.
That's the first time I had to use nested spoiler tags... To those who don't read it, this volume gets intense and has a surprise waiting for you at the end.
Robero is literally me fr fr no cap on god, &c. &c.
Anyway, I kind of don't like how the Dark Triad all have this same DUDE FIGHTING LMAO personality, as it gives the sense that all future Devil-possessed characters will be the same as well. Vanica and Dante act slightly different, but mostly the same. The third guy is more "serious," at least, but... I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a wacky Joker-type.
Kind of enjoy how the Dark Triad are not just Jinchūriki but also have Cursed Seals. Good way to combine two arcs of Naruto and pass it off as something new/unique. That sounds sarcastic, but I actually do appreciate it.
We get some cool shit here with Noelle, Yami, and Asta pulling off power-ups. Well, Noelle and Asta get new transformations; Yami doesn't, but he still breaks his limits in his own way.
It seems, at this point, Asta's arm is permanently transformed into a Devil arm? We'll see if that turns into anything. Didn't Naruto and Sasuke lose arms late in their series as well? 🤔🤔🤔
Vanica's thighs! 🥵🥵🥵 Zettai ryōiki between Vanica's boots and spats! 🔥🔥🔥 Vanica stepping on me! 👠👠👠Vanica using magic to turn me into a Curse Bomb to kill me! 💣💥💀 (Eh, wait, that last one is going a bit far, innit...?)

Okay. Wow. Tabata is really pulling out all of the heart wrenching, depressing stops he can think of with this arc, because, my goodness, this one hurt. Even with Noelle, Asta and company showing how much they have powered up over the past few months, and having Yami their to just be himself, our heroes still lost. That's just how powerful the bad guys are this time around.
Thanks to this, the tension is so damn high and the spirits of all the Black Bulls are in tatters. However, when Asta is at his lowest, a new character appears: the rumoured Vice-Captain of the Black Bulls, Nacht, who appears to be a demon magic user as well.
Honestly, despite this volume being a huge downer, it was still very good, and this arc continues to be probably the best this series has ever produced. I can't wait to see where the story goes next, because I hate seeing Asta cry.
Noelle, Mimosa, and Lolopechka face off against Vanica, before the action switches back to Yami's battle with Dante. When all seems lost, Asta digs deep for the power to win, but even that might not be enough.
What a great volume. Seeing the girls let loose against Vanica was impressive, and then Yami putting his faith in Asta was the culmination of everything the pair have been through together so far. Asta waking up the following morning with that new addition to his grimoire was an emotional gut punch I wasn't expecting.
Ok so the female devil who fought Noelle was so sadistic I can’t wait to see how Noelle kicks her butt. But enough about that. Time to get to the elephant in the room: I SAID IF THEY TOOK YAMI I WOULD THROW HANDS. GUESS WHAT THEY DID? The way ever single Black Bull present rushed to save Yami was probably the best scene I’ve ever read. I stared at that page so long because it hurt my heart. Asta’s scream was so sad, especially after he and Yami defeated the other devil. I really hope the Vice Captain and help Asta. That way, Yami won’t die. They can’t kill him off, right? (Famous last words)
Why did I find myself thinking of Dragon Ball Z the Cell Battles/Games while reading this volume? I felt the villains (Devils) truly showed how evil they are, and the battles were beyond epic.... but the good guys just didn't get it all done this volume. Definitely excellent battle sequences and story but you just wish a battle or two would have ended a little differently...or maybe it's just me. Still, how can that deter a reader/fan from continuing to enjoy this series at a high level? Itching to read the next volume.
I have a feeling Noelle is gonna be sick this arc, can’t wait for that. Also the Asta and Yami part was actually so hype, the panel with all of the times Yami’s motivated Asta in a collage behind him got me. However, who the heck is this vice captain?? There’s no way Tabata planned for this guy, I might be missing something but I feel like he came out of nowhere. Yuno looks mad.
