Collateral Damage

Claimed.

That’s what Camille Bennett becomes when she crashes into the arms of Deacon Archer.

Camille didn’t have a plan when she attempted to fight off a random attacker, but responding well under pressure has never been her strong suit either. She was merely grateful someone who could handle the heat happened to be nearby.

Deacon doesn’t hesitate to spring into action when a frantic woman begs for his help. No sooner does he get her to safety when Deacon decides that Camille is the perfect woman for him.

If only she felt the same.

When Camille is attacked again, she has no choice but to turn to Deacon for help. He entertains her request, knowing full well he intends to make sure this never happens again.

Just as things start to heat up between them, Deacon's temper begins to flare. But it’s hard to remain composed when it becomes evident that Camille’s attacks weren’t so random after all, and the woman Deacon is falling for could end up as collateral damage.

A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Archer Tactical series. I read and reviewed the first book in this series, and I do not think you really need to read the first book before reading this book. I did enjoy the first book, but I do think this book can be read as a standalone book. I really love the characters in this book and this series. I love how Camille did not know how strong she was until she had to be strong. This book has a lot of suspense which I loved. The romance was very fast moving, but it was cute. I did guess who was behind everything that was happening, but I did not guess why. The ending was so great, and I was living for it.

4 Star Review Collateral Damage (Archer Tactical #2) by A.K.Evans

Having read the first book in the series, I was interested to see what she had in store for Deacon Archer and Camille Bennett. The writing was strong, the characters engaging and the story flowed well and was entertaining.

When Camille finds herself being attached, she is relieved when Deacon comes to her rescue. When Deacon sees Camille there is something about her that calls to him and he knows immediately that she is the one for him.

Attacked again, Camille turns to Deacon for help and he is determined to ensure that she is protected. As the danger increases will Deacon be able to protect Camille or will he be to late?

I really liked both Deacon and Camille, they make a great couple and I look forward to reading more in the stories.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH ONE OF A VARIETY OF SOURCES. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I was actually rather surprised by this book! At first, I didn't quite know where the author was going with some details she was giving, but then things started to happen and it all started making a lot of sense! The book was amazingly suspenseful, catching me up in it so that I wound up reading the bulk of the book in about two and a half hours! I loved the chemistry between Cami and Deacon and the side story romance in Australia! I really want to know what happens with that situation! I was completely surprised by the ending of the book's suspense plot! This was an amazingly good read, and one I highly recommend to others!

The second book of this series did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed Cami, and her relationship with her Gram. So sweet.
Deacon was delicious and I enjoyed his attention to her. But, UGH! Chapter 12, did you really need to be so ... good? ;)

The connection between the two of them was great to read and I was so glad when they finally got together and got their HEA.
So hot!

I recommend reading this series in order to get the most from this story. In a perfect world, you would have already read Parker and Nash's story, and Monroe and Xander's, (books from other series) so this series is even better for you.

I really enjoyed this story and enthusiastically recommend this series, and all the other available offerings from this author.

Collateral Damage is the second book in the Archer Tactical series by A.K. Evans. Youngest of the Archer brothers, Deacon feels an instant attraction to Cami, an assault victim who wants to learn some self defense. This book is a romantic suspense with tons of twists and turns. Cami is fighting her feelings for Deacon and is scared of being hurt, but the attraction proves too hard for her to fight - especially when Deacon is so protective and caring of her. Can’t wait to see where Ms. Evans goes with Vaughn’s story next!

What a fantastic second book. These Archer brothers are definitely living up to the hot, handsome, heroic type and I’m here for it all day!
We have Camille, who has been through the ringer for a few months. On top of some heavy issues, she gets attacked. Deacon is there to help her. He is a bit hot-tempered which leads to some communication problems until he comes to his senses.
Their chemistry is hot and Deacon is all about Camille. He’s determined to protect her, help her through her problems and grow their relationship.
I thought the first book in this series (Line of Fire) was great, but this one is even better, which makes me so excited for Vaughn’s story next. I can’t wait, this series is turning out to be a gem!

Cami and Deacon were perfect. Perfect for each other, perfect for this series, and perfect for not falling into the dreaded “second book is more of a bridge to the finale” trap that sometimes happens in a series. Cami was alone more often than not in the world now, but when she literally runs into Deacon after an attempted assault, she wonders if maybe fate is looking to change her life a bit with this perfect man. As for Deacon, all he can think about is how to get more of Cami. More time, more history and information, and more of a future.

Even with their blossoming relationship (thank Kaia for the assist in the progress!), danger is around. But who is it? And why? I thought I had it figured out, but then another possibility popped up. And when it all comes to a head, it was a little surprising to see just how everything twisted around to make sense of it all. As for Cami, she proves that she’s no quitter and that she can save herself long enough for the reinforcements to hit the scene. Her resilience made for such a hopeful, touching story, and Deacon was already on my good guy list, so I adored how this all worked out. And now I wait to see how Vaughn finds his forever, because it’s bound to have some angst and danger without being OTT, just like Remi’s and Deacon’s tales were.

I talked about the hot cover after the first book in the Archer Tactical, and Collateral Damage totally brought the thunder with its super HOT HOT HOT cover so thank you Ms. Evans for the sexiness. It only got better when I opened the book up, as I'm totally loving this new series since it not only has 3 hot bachelor brothers, but also the suspense factor that goes along with it. Cami had lost her grandmother, and it really gutted her since her grandmother was one of a kind & so hilarious with her matchmaking, and not too long after, she's attacked on the beach out of the blue which ended her up crashing into Deacon literally, so their journey takes off but not so easily. See, Cami was scared so she blew him off that time, but when she's attacked more viciously a second time, she learns that he makes her feel safe, and yet, again she pushed him away. Luckily, Deacon isn't a quitter since he was determined to make Cami his, and they are FIRE together. However, there's still that person out there that the police never caught, and that dude wasn't letting it go so there's danger waiting in the wings. Can Deacon keep her safe?! And who the hell is the attacker?! I'm not ashamed to say that I totally had it wrong which makes this book more fun for me. Anyway, just hit those one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Running for safety after being attacked on the beach, Cami literally runs into Deacon Archer. From the moment he laid eyes on the woman in distress, Deacon knew Camille Bennet was someone special.

What starts as a rescue quickly turns into a heated romance as Deacon and Cami begin spending more time together. But the threat of who attacked Cami and why they did it is still lurking. And, until it’s solved, their happily ever after is in peril.

Collateral Damage was a fabulous couple and book!

I loved Cami. I adored how close she was with her grandmother and how she kept her close to her heart after she passed. Cami is a creative and caring individual and I like that she instinctively knew she could trust Deacon. Deacon is an alpha, but still gives Cami her space without being insanely over protective. He is attentive and sweet and knows immediately Cami is his. I really loved how they communicated and just felt right with each other.

The suspense of Cami’s attack and other happenings kept the story moving forward quickly. And, Deacon and Cami’s romance kept it spicy! This book is one of my favorites from this author so far. 4 stars!

Back to Poppy Valley we go and time for Deacon to meet his forever!

Deacon admits that he has a hot temper and a hair trigger occasionally but he's done well to keep the temper under control. But when he comes across Cami, who has just been assaulted - he can feel the red mist want to descend again. he tried to get her to sign up for defence lessons but Cami isn't exactly the confrontational type and doesn't take him up on the offer. But when a second attack leaves her reeling she goes to the only safe place she can think of - Deacon!

Cami could come over as the damsel in denial but she really does think it's just a random act of violence but the second time leaves her in fear. She only feels safe with Deacon, which given their short interaction, shows how intense his impact on her was. Deacon is overprotective, overly cautious when it comes to her safety - with good cause. Their chemistry was fabulous and they each brought out the best in the other. Absolutely loved it!

Roll up Vaughn, it's your turn next!

This is the second book in this series and I will say I loved it more than the first if that is possible. Nothing prepared me for how invested in Deacon Archer I would become but from the first page to the last he was simply one of the best book boyfriends!

Deacon is just as hot and sexy as his brothers but there is a quality about him that makes him stand out. He is a bit of a hot head but once he meets Camille his sweetness shines through. Camille Bennett runs into Deacon after a near assault and she is of course shaken. However she has an inner strength that I loved.

I must say I can't wait for Vaughn's book because if this one this good I have high expectations for the next.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Wickedly Romance

Another Amazing A.K. Evans Read
Back in December 2020 (not all that long ago, but with the pandemic, it feels like ages), a friend showed me a Facebook ad for the “Everything” series by A.K. Evans. At the time, Evans was a new-to-me writer, but the storylines sounded interesting, so I gave it a shot. By the time I rang in the New Year less than two weeks later, I had read roughly a book a day, going from one series into the next until I caught up on her entire book list. Evans’s ability to create a world of wonderfully flawed, loveable, relatable humans captivated me, and I found myself so wrapped up in them that I lost sleep on many nights to read “just one more” page, chapter, title, etc. So, you can imagine my excitement to hear that Evans was FINALLY writing about the Archer brothers – three super-hot, extremely protective men that appeared in their sister’s book in the Everything series. I loved Book 1 in the new series, but nothing could prepare me for how caught up I became in reading “Collateral Damage,” the second installment in this amazing series. Youngest brother Deacon Archer is strong and sinfully sexy – a self-proclaimed hot head who becomes completely enamored by the lovely, yet terrified, assault victim that nearly runs him down. Creative beauty Camille Bennett’s life is becoming a suspense novel, and she doesn’t like it one bit, but she can’t deny her intense attraction to the handsome man who seems to be determined to protect her. Their connection is immediately evident and very steamy, and Deacon has quickly risen to become one of my favorite A.K. Evans heroes. The story is at turns emotional, funny, suspenseful, and powerful, and I had to read it in one sitting. Putting it down simply wasn’t an option. I was just as profoundly affected by Deacon’s sweetness despite his internal struggle as I was by the danger and brutality of Cami’s ordeal, and this is easily one of my favorite Evans books to-date. Again, take my five stars and triple them. I cannot wait for middle brother Vaughn to get his HEA next.

Deacon and Cami

This second book in the Archer Tactical series was even better than the first. I felt like the characters were better developed and the suspense was intense throughout, but extremely intense at the end. In the first book Deacon seemed like the goof ball of the three brothers, which fit since he was the youngest of the three, but in this book we get to see a lot more depth to his character.

Cami is struggling to find her way after the loss of her Grams. When she’s finally starting to adjust to her new norm, she’s attacked while walking home from the beach and runs into Deacon while fleeing. When she’s attacked a second time, it becomes clear the attacks aren’t random and she finds herself searching for the safety she needs in Deacon’s arms.

Deacon felt an instant connection with Cami, but because of the losses she’s faced Cami isn’t sure she should pursue anything with Deacon. He slowly works himself under her walls and Cami finds the man she’s been searching for her whole life.

The thing I loved about Deacon’s character was that he was flawed. He had a short temper that led him to say things he didn’t mean. And I loved that he was honest with Cami about the anger he’d been feeling regarding her attacker.

This was a great romantic suspense. The final show down with the attacker was intense, and I felt like I was fighting right along with Cami and racing to save her with Deacon at the same time. I loved the way it wrapped up and I loved the ending.

Tragedy, deception, danger and one hot, sexy, Archer to the rescue.

Camille Bennett is a woman that has suffered a tragedy and is trying to find her way back from a huge loss. When she finds herself in danger and is trying to find help, she literally runs into the best thing to ever happen in her life. Now she has to find a way to let Deacon Archer into her heart and her life.

Deacon Archer is the youngest brother and owner of Archer Tactical. When a woman runs into him while he’s jogging his natural instincts kick in. After she tells him what’s happened, he helps her out and walks her home, but he can’t seem to forget about the woman, and it drives him crazy that she hasn’t shown up at Archer Tactical for classes nor has she called him.

I loved this story of a hot headed, quick to temper Alpha male that is taken to his knees by a small statured woman that is tougher than she realizes. The Archer men are kind, caring Alpha males that will protect those that need it. They are also sexy, caring, kind and lethal. Cami is smart, talented, and beautiful, but she’s also a woman that will do what she has to in a dangerous situation. When she finds that she’s been set up and deceived by someone that she thought she could trust, she’ll fight for her life and hope that she can stay alive and unharmed until help arrives. I loved this book and I look forward to Silent Target. I give this book a 5-star review.

Collateral Damage is the 2nd book in the Archer Tactical Series. My impression of Deacon from book 1 Line of Fire ,didn’t match the Deacon in this book. I however enjoyed the book after I got over my perception that was skewed. Deacon and Cammie came together in an unexpected way. She is stronger than she or Deacon realized. It was nice to reconnect with the Archer Brothers.

I wasn’t sure what Deacon was really like from reading the first book but he has depths I couldn’t have imagined. Cami broke my heart. I could tell she was gonna be a soft hearted kinda girl. What I didn’t see at first was her inner strength when she needed it. This was a beautiful story of a couple falling fast but not communicating it straight away. Both are caught up in each other from the beginning but Deacon recognises it but Cami is hesitant to accept it for fear of being hurt.
I loved Cami’s closeness to her grams. The closeness she shared with her resonates with me so much I felt my heart break for her.
The mystery in this book is very well thought out from the beginning and the suspense and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat not knowing. There was a lot happening within the story it made for compelling reading. I didn’t want to stop to even sleep. Lol. Neither of these characters was perfect and had real fears and foibles but what was clear throughout the book was their connection and love. I’m thoroughly hooked on this series and cannot wait for Vaughan’s book now.

I am loving these Archer brothers!

Deacon is the youngest brother and works at Archer Tactical with his 2 older brothers. He is a bit hot-tempered and super protective of the women in his life. Cami just lost her grandmother and is trying to move on with her life. The two of them meet by chance with Deacon is there to help her after Cami was randomly chased one night. When Deacon sees Cami he is immediately attracted to her and wants her. Cami is scared to get into a relationship because she does not want to get hurt again so quickly after her grandmother's death. When Cami gets attacked again, nothing will keep Deacon away.

This was a sweet story with some mystery and suspense. Deacon is sweet/caring with a bit of a temper. He wants Cami and will be as patient as he needs to be in order to get her. It does not take long for Cami to give into Deacon because she feels the same way he does. Deacon makes Cami feel safe and loved, and thats all Cami cares about, he will do whatever he has to in order to protect her.

I was a bit surprised when I found out who was behind the attacks, I thought it was someone else.

This was a great story and I cannot wait for the next one!

After reading Line of Fire (Book 1) I couldn't wait to read about the youngest Archer brother Deacon. I normally read the kindle version but I couldn't wait for this book. Camille Bennett was just trying to adjust in a world without her beloved grandmother. Her grandmother knew Camille was destined to find her soul mate but Camille isn't as convinced. When one of her worst nights finds Camille literally running into Deacon she doesn't know what to do. Deacon doesn't hesitate to help but when she walks away, he knows it can't be the last time they meet. When their paths align again, Deacon will make sure that Camille knows that he is serious about her. I loved this story and the chemistry that Camille and Deacon have is off the charts. Cami tries to see the best in the world and Deacon can only hope to be a part of it. Deacon always protects what is his and whether Cami realizes it or not, she's a part of him now. This was a great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book. AK Evans always does a great job of reeling you into a story and makes you want more. This book had the right mixture of suspense, love and entertainment!

Cami my heart broke for her after page 1. She truely loved her grandma and the amazing they shared like the beach and trying to get her grand daughter a date with the handsome man that took their photo. She was amazing women and she got brave to enter her grandma room it was heart warming that she did it. Down earth and lovely women and she is a fantastic best friend and I wish she was mine

Deacon 😍🔥 I wish I can fall in his arms. He is a big Teddy bear when it comes to Cami and we see how much wants to protector from big monsters in the shadows & from his aggressive side. He wants to show of only the calm side of him and not the other half punch face then ask questions.

Romance is HOT🔥 & Steamy scenes. Action & suspense had me at the edge of my seat cause they came out of nowhere !

Now to the story there is SURPISE twist that I did not see coming and I really don't want to spoil it cause it ruins the rest of the story. So watch out!

The Archer brothers are back and as protective as ever. This time it was Deacon, the youngest, who fell to the love bug. If only the woman who stole his heart from the first run in would get on the same page...
I liked Cami. She was suffering but trying to get back to some semblance of her normal routine. But when she falls victim to an attack and right into the sure arms of Deacon, things really start to turn around for her. I liked the protective man with a temper that ran hot. I especially liked his gentleness and patience with Cami as she opened up her very tight circle to him.

Too bad the threat continued to lurk waiting for the right moment to strike. I had an inkling of who the culprit that put Cami in the cross hairs was, but I still wasn't ready for the showdown. My heart was pounding as those tense moments played out. But I loved seeing Cami's grit come out.

Full of family and friendship, healing and hope, Collateral Damage was a good addition to the series. I am looking forward to seeing what A.K. Evans has in store for Vaughn.

Cami and Deacon meet by chance when she is attacked on the beach outside of her house and runs right into Deacon. He knows immediately that he is interested in Cami. She, for her part, just lost her grandmother 2 months before and has sworn off having her heart involved with anyone else. She was kind of childish at points and didn't seem to grasp how entitled she was. She claimed her cousin, Miles, would learn more if he earned something, yet she was handed pretty much everything. She seemed likable and was running her own business. I figured out pretty early on who was behind her attacks but I was interested to see how it all played out. That part of the story was great. The constant reference to her work and how she would get lost in creating new sewing projects was way too repetitive throughout this book. I got it on the 45th time it was stated. I did like how Deacon stepped up and put his feelings on the line for her. This is the first book in this series I have read and I am interested in reading the others.

Great

Another great one!!

Cami is dealing with the devastating loss of her grandmother when she is randomly attacked in front of her house. Deacon who was out running heard her pleas for help. Being taken aback by his protectiveness for her he encourages her to come to the self defence classes at Archer Tactical where he’s co owner. She does come to see him but not before she’s attacked again, showing that there obviously was nothing random about it.
Deacon and Cami carve out the beginnings of a solid relationship but how far will they get before the attacker comes knocking again.

This was brilliant. I was looking forward to reading Deacons story after the last book. I loved Deacons protectiveness and also when he admitted that he was struggling with her situation. Most people think the guys aren’t allowed to be anything but manly and strong but this showed a vulnerability under his strong exterior. Cami is a slightly softer personality and just wants to be happy but when it really comes down to it she can fight alongside the best of them.

Another amazing book from AK Evans ! I am LOVING the Archer Tactical series and all of the Archer brothers!! This book focuses on the youngest and slightly hot tempered Deacon. He’s in the right place at the right time when Cami finds herself in danger. He’s immediately taken with her but takes it slow since she’s had a rough couple of months. Seriously love Deacon and his expressions of affections. AK managed to achieve so much feeling with just a loving brush of a thumb against a cheek! She also makes her steamy scenes work to build the story so it’s not just steam for the sake of steam. The suspense in this book will keep you guessing and I totally didn’t expect what was actually going on. Way to surprise the reader!! I really loved this book and would highly recommend it as well as the rest of the series!

I received an advance copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Deacon and Camilla’s story. Deacon is the younger brother and is a bit of a hothead and is overprotective with those he loves. Cami is randomly attacked, and Deacon comes to her rescue, and he instantly knows that she is the one for him if he could just convince Cami of that fact. When Cami is once again attacked, she has no choice but to go to Deacon for help, and he will do whatever he must to protect and keep her safe, especially when he discovers that the attacks are not random. The chemistry between these two is sizzling and undeniable. This is a well written story which is touching and emotionally charged, with danger, suspense, intrigue, mystery, family, and love, which all leads to a humorous, entertaining, and steamy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I started reading this author in 2019 with her Cunningham Security series. I have enjoyed every series since, each one getting a little better than the next!

Cami has had a few bad months. The loss of her Grandmother, a random attack, and canceling a trip with her best friend. I loved the little glimpse we get of the two.

I was hesitant about Deacon, and he was not my favorite brother in the previous book. The author did turn me around after I got to know him.

The connection and trust are immediate; communication is the speed bump. The story has many elements of fun, suspense, mystery, and romance. I am excited to read Vaughn’s story.

I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.

I did not read the first book in this series but I will have to now.
Cami & Deacon were amazing.
Their story reminded me what I love about protectors.
Cami & her gram's relationship was probably my favorite thing about the book, their love for each other was inspirational.
Deacon is quite loveable as well, he's fiercely protective, has a teensy weensy bit of a temper and easy on the eyes. He literally bumps into Cami after an attempted attack and immediately knows he wants to protect her and get to know her.
Cami took a little bit of encouragement in the beginning as she's very nonconfrontational but that changes when she learns it wasn't just a random attack.
Their story is steamy and sweet. Loved it, read it in one day and can't wait for more of the guys from Archer Tactical.

This book really resonated with me and my heart went out to Cami who went through so much. I found myself drawn in from the very beginning and loved every moment of it. There was just the right amount of tenderness, drama and danger to keep the plot moving along at a comfortable pace. The suspense kept growing right up to the end and I found the climax and ending satisfying.
Luckily when Cami found herself in trouble, Deacon was there to help keep her safe. I liked how protective, patient and caring he was. What they had between them was explosive chemistry that leapt right off of the page. All in all, another fabulous book by a very talented author.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Collateral Damage is another great addition to the Archer Tactical Series. From the moment I picked this book up I could not stop reading. Cami and Deacon were perfect together , perfect for this series . You cannot help but to fall in love with them and become fully invested in their lives as well as their story . This is not only a intriguing read , with the perfect amount of action, steam and mystery, but a very emotional one as well . So many moments my heart broke for Cami , she is the perfect blend of Strong yet vulnerable. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book , I cannot express enough what a fantastic book this is . It’s a book you really need to experience for yourself ❤️💜

A long leisurely walk on the beach, grieving over her grandmother, missing her best friend who’s still on vacation and her parents are back in their east coast home, seamstress Camille ‘Cami’ Bennett’s trying to get back on track. Just as she gets home, Cami’s attacked but manages to scream for help and escape, into the arms of security expert, Deacon Archer

Days later, Cami’s attacked again by the same man and the first person she thinks to go to for help is Deacon. Meanwhile, her ne’er do well cousin, Miles is jealously comparing the inheritances they received from their grandmother, though he’s supposedly turned his life around. Also, as things get serious with Deacon a man her grandmother kept trying to set her up with reappears in her life.
