Duval County, home to the Jacksonville Florida Jaguars, taught Tyree Morris many lessons through loss. She’d lost her mother at a young age, her father years later, and she even almost lost herself in heartbreak. But now, at twenty-one years old, life is on the upswing. Tyree hit the jackpot with superstar wide receiver, Kamaal Duval. They were instantly smitten with each other from the first time they met. And after two years of dating, Tyree is convinced she has found forever in Kamaal. She feels like royalty sitting high on the throne beside her boyfriend, the hometown hero and king of Jacksonville, until a press conference by Kamaal’s rival unveils a salacious scandal for the world to see. Desperate to find herself and unsure of who she can trust, Tyree runs to the least expected place for refuge. But the sudden reappearance of an old love interest gives her more than she was looking for. They say the best way to get over one man is to get under another. But when unresolved feelings, complacency, and loneliness threaten to impede her process of self-discovery and independence, Tyree is left to wonder if rushing into love could cause more damage than good.
Whew chile this was MESSY, but I enjoyed it. I kept putting it down because I was focused on other materials, but it's definitely a series that I plan to continue.
Deliver Me from Duval follows Tyree after she discovers that her NFL star boyfriend has betrayed her. Reeling from the loss of the family she thought she had, she makes the decision to start over. Surprisingly she finds herself seeking refuge with an old flame.
What I Enjoyed: The mess. If you know me then you know that I'm a reader that enjoys a good, fun and messy book. Chassilyn did not disappoint. Whenever I thought the book couldn't get wilder, it proved me wrong time and time again. Tyree was an enjoyable character and I felt for her. After losing the only family she has, she has to deal with the betrayal of the one person that she thought had her back. She struggles, she makes adjustments, and she reckons with the changes in her life. Chassilyn had a way of making her feel real and relatable. While I haven't been in a similar situation, I connected with the idea of having to start your life over from scratch. The steamy scenes were GREAT and I enjoyed the time that Chassilyn took to build up the tension between Tyree and another character. I'll be really interested in seeing how this all plays out considering the ending of the book through me for a LOOP.
What I Didn't Enjoy: This is more of a me thing, but I don't always enjoy being in the head of every single character. While we weren't getting defined POV's, there were moments when I felt as though we were switching perspectives in the middle of chapters. I would have preferred to focus on our three main characters instead of getting the feelings and thoughts of every character that was introduced. It didn't bother too much because I still enjoyed the book, but it is a narrative style that caught me off guard while reading.
Overall, this was a good start to a series. I'm looking forward to reading book 2 and book 3.
My heart breaks for Tyree. She couldn't catch a break in any direction. They say insanity is repeating the same act and expecting a different outcome. At some point sis has to stop spinning the block and hop on the straightaway and keep moving! Loved this book!
This books started hot and finished hot. So many unexpected curveball were thrown. Amazingly written it kept my attention. Looking forward to reading more of Tyree and Kamaals story.
I have so many thoughts when it comes to this book and it's not even funny. First of all Tyree needs therapy in the WORST way. A lot of the issues she's facing and her reactions are due to her not doing the work on herself.
First you have a girl who basically jumps from relationship to relationship with no breather and this is not healthy at all. I feel like if she'd gotten therapy after her mother died and FOR SURE after she miscarried, then a lot of the trials she's facing wouldn't be an issue. She clearly has abandonment issues and so she holds on to people she to let go of. Case in point Toni.
When the story started I thought Toni would be a good friend, but she does some really fucked up shit. No 1, her best friend's man cheats on her and she knows she wants space and she just lets that man in her home so she could FORCE Tyree to have a conversation with him? Where they do that at?
No 2, of all the men she could fuck, Toni has an affair with a woman she KNOWS Tyree is friends with and who her man works with so if shit goes down Tyree would get the brunt of the heat. What bestie does that?
No 3, she knows good and gotdamn well that Kamaal not only gives Tyree access to his money, but that he also gives her cash and she lets Tyree believe that the only option she had was her cousin when in all actuality, that girl could have left the state (Kamaal couldn't chase after her during the season) and just rented a house somewhere and got a job to start her life independently. Instead she sets her up for the okie doke and OKIE DOKE it is because even if she didn't know how deep Tyree and her cousin's relationship was, she knew enough to know she wouldn't have agreed to stay in that ninja's home.
No 4, Toni knew they started fucking and that Tyree didn't know he was married and didn't tell her shit. What type of bestie is this?
Now for Tyree. Why the fuck did she tell Kamaal about her miscarriage before the father of that child? Disrespectful all the way around and Kamaal is making it harder to route for him with his using that as a weapon even though he knew it'd hurt her.
All in all, this book was a quick read. Just frustrating.
Kamaal's teammate had his son hit by that car, didn't he?

If it ain't one thing, it's another. Wow, tyree really couldn't catch a break, BUT, she didn't act as if she wanted one either. I had to remind myself that Tyree was only 22 cause someone with wisdom would know, getting under the next would never help you getting over the past and Aiyden proved that right. Moreover, Tyree needs a job lol. She could have left both Kamaal and Aiyden heartbroken and regretful if she had her own and didn't need them in some way. Toni's actions were disgusting and that hotel scene was a wake call she needed fr. A lot of the characters really let lust lead them into some bad decisions and I can't wait to see what's to come. I patiently waited for this whole series to be release and I'm glad I did, highly recommend!
I expected better based on the almost 5 star rating from Amazon. This was my first time reading this particular author and I’m not impressed. This story developed very very slowly and did not hold my attention. I skipped several pages in each chapter, the plot was so slow to come together and the ending was supposed to be a cliffhanger leaving you for more but quite frankly I could care less what happens with Tyree, Aiyden and Kamaal. I do want to know about Karl but not enough to continue this series. Sorry, it’s a no for me!!
I need part 2 like tomorrow! I was fully invested in this Messy read. Everyone was messy and Tyree was just looking for love. I loved the Jacksonville references as well as the old school references like Chicken Soup for the Soul and Mash. I enjoyed the flow of the book and the pacing of the story and the scenes between her and Aiyden were hot. Can’t wait to see where they all end up in part two. Great read!
This book was definitely a road full of curves. Just when Tyree thought she'd overcome one obstacle, another one presented itself. Toni meant well but her methods made you side eye her. She wanted a taste of the life Tyree had but not at the cost of humiliation. The ending had me a little stumped but saw a preview for the next installment and look forward to it.
My heart goes out to Ree. She literally on,y has the choice of the person who broke her heart first and the person who broke her heart last. Kamaal and Aiyden did the same thing too hurt her although they both seem to really love her too. If only she can have someone who loves her and is faithful as well. Can’t wait to see what happens in part 2!
As much as I wanted to like Kamaal he was just a complete mess. He tried to pull the wool over Tyree eyes and she fell for it until it was put in her face. Tyree was too trusting and stupid at times. She was irking me because she was gullible and rushed into things without thinking things through. On to the next to see what happened to Karl. Smh Duval here I come.
Tyree couldn't catch a break for nothing. I wanted to root for Aiden but that secret he kept was a no no. I feel like there is a reason behind why he did it, but he still should have told her. Kaamal made me mad with his actions too. On to the next book to see what happens next.
I am so engrossed in this story right now! It's so good that I just couldn't stop reading. I loved the passion between the characters. The writer made me love both of the men, Kamaal and Aiyden. I can understand Tyree's dilemma. I can't wait to read what happens next with these three.
I am happy to say that I was all wrapped up in this love triangle. I didn't know who to root for. So I went with team Woman!!!!! I have to read the next installment. I need to know what happened to these characters.
Tyree can't catch a break. Her life is always unsettled. She takes you through all emotions. One minute she's in love. The next minute her heart is shattered. The next she's scared and frightened. I can't wait for the next book.
This book was sooo good. There were bombs dropping from the beginning. It had a nice flow to it. I am excited to get to book 2 to see how they pans out
So this was definitely a book that taught me the issues with getting comfortable. I mean that both in terms of the characters getting comfortable... and me! Every time I think it's settling down... BAM! Chassilyn hits us with a curve ball. I've not known who to root for since this book started and now I'm just like...
