The last storm rises, and dark secrets lurk within…
The past hides many things. And as Lilith prepares for the final steps in her journey, she realizes that uncovering the truth may be the hardest one of all. Hell is broken. The Damned set free. And yet, Lucifer remains. His realm may be gone, but his vengeance is more terrifying than before.
As Lilith sets about the harrowing task of uncovering the truth of who she is, a deadly new game begins. Michael and Gabriel must wrestle with their own past deeds and confront a future neither can predict. Of all the storms gathering in the dark, this could be the one from which no one can escape.
This final book of the Season of Angels series had so many unexpected moments. It's hard to talk too much about it without spoiling it, but my heart was all over the place with this one. It's a rollercoaster for sure. There's these two side characters that have the most heart-wrenching and tragically beautiful story- you get to see a little more of them in The Song of Shattered Grace, so make sure you read that. The way their story ends, is how it HAD to end, but wow, it was so tense and so well done. The main story is the final showdown between Lilith and Lucifer, and Lucifer is outraged because of what Lilith managed to do, by breaking his hold on hell and removing the power it gave him. Now he's desperate, and there are things that Lucifer does which made my jaw drop and I had to re-read it just to be sure that's really what happened. He is formidable to be sure. How can 1 teenage girl go up against him? How can she possibly stop him? Except she isn't just a normal teenage, but has been given gifts that make her the one thing that can go up against Lucifer. What happened in the final battle was soo very different than what I expected, and it turned into this really sort of bittersweet moment. I absolutely love Lilith (Genvieve-same person, but the two names come into play) as a character- not only does she have these unique and strong gifts, and can wield them, she is also really compassionate and caring, and self-sacrificing. Her strength comes from her heart- that is her greatest weapon, and with it she has re-shaped things in so many ways. As much as there are dark and twisted and jaw-dropping moments in this series, but especially in Elegy, it is also really driven by hope and love. That is the recurring theme through it all, that love conquers all, and hope is stronger than guilt or fear. I absolutely love Christopher's writing, it's very transportive. Not only are the descriptions enough to make you feel like you are actively there with the characters, it is also really beautiful and has great insightful moments. I'm so glad I got to take this journey through A Season of Angels, and he has left room for more to happen in this world in the future, and I cannot wait to see where it goes.
"This is 911, what's your emergency?" "Hi! I'd like to report a killing spree."
And that concludes my review...
No, for real. That was intense! The last book of the trilogy brought a satisfying ending to Lilith's journey and some jaw-dropping moments throughout the story. The beauty of the language and how vividly the author describes the raw emotions behind each character's actions force you to read with a hand over your heart. I sincerely expected once Hell was closed for businesses, Mr. Lu would settle down and leave his mass murder days behind, but nuoooo... we're having none of that here! And after all the pain Lilith went from the day she set out on her Right Hand of God job, I wanted nothing more than a happy ending for her. No? Ok... I'm so glad the author pulled a Gandalf the White for her because my heart couldn't take it!
A Season of Angels is complete, but there's more to this story on the horizon!

I really enjoyed reading this trilogy. The story holds a lot of emotions and unveiled its secrets with perfect timing. The characters were meaningful and well developed. I'd definitely recommend the books!
This novella held so much in it- really cool reveals, super tense moments, lovely light moments between friends, and so much more. This book reminded me of the reunion episodes at the end of a tv series. One last time to see all the characters you've gotten to know before the end. It was really cool to spend time with so many of the amazing side characters, and the way this book ends...gah...it's gearing up for some epic stuff tocome in the final book of the Season of Angels series. It's so hard to pick out a favorite moment because there is just so much emotion and heart in this novella. You definitely want to make sure you read this before getting to Elegy, book 3 of the seeries. Or even if you somehow missed this one before you read the last book, make sure you come back to it.
How satisfying the unraveling of all the mysteries laid throughout this series was. It’s quite difficult to put into words without spoiling things, but the care taken in crafting this story was clearly on a Sandersonian level.
What an emotional roller coaster, and likely my book of the year.
Beautifully written and filled to the brim with emotional scenes. More stunning revelations and the BIG question left unanswered, only for you to dive right into the next book to learn what the hell is Lucifer planning. Can't be good. Too many pointy objects and sharp emotions. Could someone please tell those angels to wear armors, for fudge sake!
