Trouble brews when a psychic enchantress shares her magic.
When the sorceress Jane Black offers spells, potions, and tarot readings to the regular folk in her small town, she finds herself in a cauldron of hot water. Despite her good intentions, spells spiral out of control, potions backfire, and people turn against her. As Jane’s problems multiply, a drool-worthy dragon enforcer arrives on her doorstep and gives her an ultimatum. While the universe stacks impossible odds against her, a hot dragon breathes down her neck, and Vixen, her snarky familiar, harangues her every move, Jane refuses to give up. She’s determined to make things better for everyone or die trying. Is Jane’s magic strong enough to heal the town’s problems? Will her full-service sorcery store, survive? And what exactly will Leos the dragon set on fire?
Dial Witch is the first book in the Dial Witch trilogy, set in the Mystic Keep world. It chronologically follows The Perfect Brew trilogy, but can easily be read as a standalone story.

A firm believer in the magic of our everyday lives, Jo-Ann loves watching sunrises, walking the beaches with her poodle near her home in the Pacific Northwest, and reading books by a crackling wood fire. This is Jane's story. The youngest of the Black sisters, Jane is head strong and determined that by making magic available and know to both magical and non magical creatures, it will heal the rift between the two. She plans to show how much good magic can do and how much it can help everyone, those who can weild it and those who cannot but after the Salem witch trials and such like, many of the magical community, including her own family believe that this is the worst idea ever.
The cross over with the other series that Carson offers helps with the characters, if you have read her work before but this works well as a standalone too. I enjoyed it, and I do like Jane's determination and how she holds her own beliefs, mistaken or otherwise. Being able to see the "problem" from both sides, I cannot help but wonder how this will pan out. Looking forward to finding out!!
This is the beginning of a super fun new series.. It just tickles my funny bone! It's sweet and mysterious, with a bit of steam and a whole cauldron of charm.. Can't wait for more!
Dial Witch is the first in a trilogy by the same name. It is set in the Mystic Keep universe. I have never visited this universe before, but it seems like a place full of magic and magical beings. I am very curious to find out more from previous books.
Jane Black sounds like a very average name, but the person it belongs to is anything but ordinary. Jane is a witch from powerful witch family. She owns and operates Dial Witch, a magic shop for both the magical and the ordinary. The biggest problem in Jane’s life is that no one wants Dial Witch to exist, much less successful.
Jane has to try to overcome prejudices of the ordinary while standing against the pressure from her family and the rest of the magical world. However she is strong-willed and big-hearted - determined to do what she believes is right and not back down. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy and see how Jane handles the obstacles that come up and those that are purposefully thrown in her way.

Jane Black wishes for magic to be available to non magical people also and offers potions, spells and other magical charms to the people in her town. Her good intentions are not taken well by the supernatural community who want her shop closed.
I loved this very charming story that introduced us to witches, dragons and other creatures. This was a fun read with plenty of humor, determination, romance, challenges and entertainment. This whet my appetite for this first book in a new trilogy which I will have to devour once it is all available. I understand why Jane wants to bring everyone together but sometimes it cannot be. I loved our dragon and thought his presence made this book as successful as it is. Likeable characters in a strong storyline which I think will only pull you further into this mesmerizing world. The author has outdone herself and I cannot wait for the second story.

Book: Dial Witch (Dial Witch Trilogy Book 1) Author: Jo-Ann Carson My Rating: 5 Stars Reviewed by: Tammy - Book Nook Nuts
REVIEW A brand new series and it begins with the youngest Black sister Jane. Jane is pretty much the type to do what she wants and how. Her sisters are so not on board but what can they do? And now the Queen Dragon and others want her little shop shut down and fast. Why? A dragon is hired to evict her but... Loved this new beginning, and seeing the old characters as well, and it's hilarious and oh so sexy!!

This is a fun and entertaining story with a cast of strong characters. The author brings an action packed story filled with laughter and love. It's well written with detailed and descriptive scenes, moves fluidly and is a sweet and sexy fun time read. I loved and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
A well written lighthearted witchy paranormal cozey mystery with a little snark ,a little bullying and sexual heated with vibrant colorful and some devious characters placed within a magical paranormal township. Lighthearted banter is a common element in this book. Acquire " Dial Witch " today so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. 😀 Kat
Loved this book so much and am looking forward to reading the next two in the trilogy! All of the characters, including the side characters that just appear in one or two scenes, seem to jump off the page.
Even though there are only three books in Jane's story, Jo-Ann Carson has written many more books about the Black sisters in Mystic Keep. Although you can read them out of order, I definitely would recommend reading them in order.
This is a heart-warming tale, of family values, friendship and there is a villain as well. Jane opens Dial Witch, to help people so they can better understand the supernaturals. You have to laugh when Jane make a potion for the townsfolk. And the heat between Jane and Leos....is red hot. I loved the characters and the plots. Great read
First off, the title didn’t grab me. I kept thinking Dial A Witch when anyone referred to the shop Dial Witch. Dial Witch just didn’t make sense to me. The main reason that I didn’t give the book 5 stars was that the climax was a bit too tame. On the other hand it was well written and the main character, the witch Jane Black, was as described; a beautiful soul in a beautiful body but extremely naive. Because of this, everyone around her seems to think that she is still a young girl who needs protecting. They don’t trust her to know her own mind. She has visions that they rely on and believe until it comes to her shop! She had a vision that her shop was to be and that it would be a success. She wants to bring ‘naturals’ and ‘supernaturals’ together and heal her town.
The ‘supernaturals’ don’t agree with her vision and they all want her to close the shop. So, we have witches, warlocks, mages, shifters and dragons all putting their 10cents in. There’s a lot of humour and a smidgin of romance in this book. I found it relaxing to read and liked it enough to look at the earlier book about her sisters and town from the trilogy ‘The Perfect Brew’. A couple of my favorite things about this book are the dialogue and the innuendos. The characters are likable with family dynamics key to the story. I chuckled aloud many times and shared many of the quotes, especially those at the beginning of every chapter, with my husband. He sometimes did not find them as funny as I did. Several of my favorites included, "They fly off their brooms with the littlest provocation," or "Sometimes a witch has to do what a witch has to do," or "Where the hex was the booze?" As you can see, this is a lighthearted book about witches, warlocks, vampires and many other supernatural creatures who live in a small town. The supernatural hoped to be mostly ignored and were until Jane Black opens a "magic store." Opening the store brings more attention, some of it unwanted, to the magical creatures and their world while they try live alongside the regulars (nonmagical). In many ways, this story is about the "haves" and the "have-nots," and how jealousy of wanting what others have brings about anger and hurt. It’s hard not to instantly like Jane Black, sixth daughter of a sixth daughter and witch extraordinair.
She is charming in a disarming way as she sets out to do good in a town that has clashed between those magically inclined and ”the regulars”.
Add in a meddling, though loving, family of witches and warlords, an ex brother in law vampire and a hot dragon with a mission to close up her shop, Dial Witch.
It’s really charming, even if I would have liked it even more with a little more depht. Maybe the following books will add to that, since this is a first book in a new series.
I understand that some of the characters have made appearances in earlier books of this author, so maybe I need to pick up some of them!
I enjoyed this book, it was easy and entertaining to read.

This book did work just fine as a stand alone even though its the first in a series and part of a larger group of books from the same world. I found the characters engaging and likable. The dragon is kind of a softie for someone so old . Jane has good intentions and seems to be quite the experienced witch while still stubbornly believing in the good in everyone. The other players are fun and have distinct personalities that make you want to seek out the other books to see what they are up to. It was a fast fun read and while the romance was there it was not overtly explicit nor did it drag on for umpteen pages. I would reccomend this book especially as a beach read or something you can read while waiting in lines. I did receive this book as an ARC from BookSirens. I am happy I could leave this reveiw.
Set in the picturesque town of Mystic Keep, the storyline focuses on psychic enchantress Jane Black. Having met Jane in The Perfect Brew trilogy, I was eager to read more about her adventures, love interests, and new enterprise: a Dial Witch shop. Hoping to help the regulars (humans) with her spells and potions, Jane finds herself at odds with the supernatural community.
Everyone from her family of witches and warlocks to a tantalizing dragon admirer to Vixen, her snarky familiar, tries to dissuade her. But to no avail. Jane is determined to help the have-nots (regulars) improve the quality of their lives. Unfortunately, her potions and spells create more problems in the already divided town.
A relaxing read with delightful characters and light-hearted banter, Dial Witch can be easily read in one sitting.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I really enjoyed this book. It's just plain fun. The characters are quirky, especially the many family members. They are busy bodies and all up in Jane business; I read it in one sitting. I loved Jane's attitude she is up beat, but is no push over. I really enjoyed that. The world building is good, fits right in with how I lived in a small town. The plot moves along at a nice pace so you don't get bored. I have already preordered the next in this series. This book is an off shoot from another of her series Perfect Brew. I have not read that, but thanks to this one, I will be. If you are looking for a light hearted fun book this is the one fore you.
I felt like i was dropped into the middle of this world, and quickly realized while this is a stand alone series i now want to go back and read the others to flesh out the side characters in this book. Multiple things are alluded to then i'm sure occurred in the previous books. If this bothers you then start with her previous series before starting this.
I enjoyed the protagonist. She knew herself, and was confident and competent. The story is also interesting and i'm looking forward to seeing how her store evolves.

A witchy book that felt very tongue in cheek but an enjoyable read anyway. It just felt a bit disjointed and leaping about and that’s regardless of it being told from different points of view.
I think it may also have been helpful to read the previous series although the blurb says it’s not necessary.
However, I liked Jane and her attempt to run a business despite all her naivety and who couldn’t fall for Leos the dragon?
What a wonderful novel. Funny, lively, and action packed. Thoroughly enjoyed Jane's story and the complications/repercussions of her new business venture. The interaction between her family, Vixen, Leos, and Alessandro not only made me smile, but created some laugh out loud moments. So glad to be made aware of this series. Will be reading previous books as well as the series continuation. Well done!

Jane is a witch. She is very powerful and only wants to do magic for helping people. It soon goes sideways. I thought this book was absolutely adorable. The characters are eccentric and fun. The book was very well written and easy to read. It was incredibly interesting and kept me turning the pages. I loved it!

This is a fun and enjoyable start to this series. It’s a well written and highly entertaining story where we meet Jane our sorceress who despite good intentions seems to creat chaos!! Throw in a hot dragon shifter and a super snarky familiar and you are bound to find trouble on this light heartened adventure.
I thought this story was hilarious to read. This book starts the story of Jane as the main character and opens on the first day of her new business. She meets new people, causes trouble and deals with her family. Lots of funny scenes and trouble stalking her shop and her family. Enjoyed the story and characters.
I feel like all I do is give books three stars, but so many have been just okay.
Jane opens up a shop to help people with her magic. Her family/ coven, the mages and the dragons are happy about this and try to get her to close.
Things happen but it also kinda felt like things weren’t happening. Also, things were mentioned as if they had happened in previous books in the series so we should know what they’re talking about but it’s the first book in the series?
* spoiler ahead* The chemistry between Jane and the love interest feels a little sudden/random at the start but plays out with a small bit of spice. I wasn’t happy with the way it ended, feels like it’s just to the whole sexual tension/ can’t act on it/ forbidden love trope in further books.
Dial Witch is the first book I have read by this author. I usually stay clear of books written in the third person as I don't feel as connected to the MC as when it's written in the first person where I feel like I'm actually there in the story. Having said that, I really enjoyed Jane's story. She wants to share her magic with her community by opening a magic shop but lots of people are against her idea. Even her family nd familiar think it's a bad idea. I love how Jane perseveres and doesn't let anyone's negativity get in her way. I liked how she wouldn't take any bullshit from a certain hot Dragon shifter but I did hope for a little romance there. If your looking for a light, fun magical story then this is definitely for you but if your more into paranormal romance then this doesn't have it. Maybe in the next book.
Dial Witch by Jo-Ann Carson is such a wonderful story that I have loved reading. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series and I can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy.

This is the first in series. Jane is trying to start her new magic shop. In a town with regular humans. she wants to help them with her potions and hopefully, bridge the humans and witches together. well as they say He** is paved with good intentions, she will have Family, Friends, frenemies, allies and her familiar to convince. You will fall in love with the quirky characters and her determination to make it happen!
Interesting story. It was a little hard to follow everything that was happening at first. But everything did come together. Jane Black is a unique witch even within her own family. I love that all different types of supernaturals are in the story. An enjoyable read
