Ellen Anderson’s Clean and Wholesome novelette American Mail Order Bride Historical Western box set romance series is enjoyable for all ages.
According to the publisher's claim, this is "a inspirational reads." [Sic]
There were comma errors in the front matter.
Block paragraphs in fiction are apparently de rigueur now.
In the opening scene of the Prologue, Mary is informed that her husband has been killed in a terrible accident, and . . . she shows virtually no reaction. A romance novel, even "a inspirational" one, should have some emotion, shouldn't it?
Sorry, won't be finishing this or reading any others.
Mary is a now a widow and eight months pregnant. She and her sister Nora decide the best thing they can do is travel to Cripple Creek and stay with their childhood friend, Jessamina and help her run her boarding house. Mary is determined to raise her baby on her own, as she had found out her husband had a terrible vice.
Dr Simon O’Toole is the town doctor. He is present when Mary and Nora arrive in town, and he’s immediately taken with Mary. But that presents a problem, as he’s a sworn bachelor and for good reason. So why can he not get Mary out of his mind…and heart?
I loved this story. It was shorter than advertised, but it still had a sweet HEA. Also appreciate the way the authors confronted the sin of gossip and how it can destroy a person. Very well written story.
This story starts out different as Nora and Mary come to Cripple Creek to start life over with their friend, Jessamine. Mary falls in love with the town doctor, Tobias. He is overseeing her pregnancy while she settles into Cripple Creek. This story is about gossip and assumptions. Mary should be grateful that Tobias is a wonderful forgiving Christian, because what she subjects that man to could hurt his reputation as a doctor. The story is okay, but there is not any real great writing, but it's a nice short story to pass the time.
An enjoyable story that pulled me in and kept me reading as these sisters leave their lives in Iowa and head to forge a new life in Colorado. Mary arrives just weeks from her baby's birth and finds herself quite smitten with the town's Dr. From there the story introduces members of this town that promises further stories in this newest series. A very sweet and clean romance that is well written and easy to read. This is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions.
This was an interesting story about two sisters traveling to Cripple Creek . Mary was pregnant and her sister Nora was not married. They decided to go and help their friend, Jessamine. Jessamine scheduled for Dr. o’ Toole to see Mary upon arrival due to her being pregnant. This is a great story and enjoy Mary and Dr. O’ Toole, finding their true love..
Mediocre short clean western historical type read with a bunch of fantasy. New mother's would not be wearing a dress laced in the back (they were actually two pieces back then). Very doubtful it was white, not because of her previous marriage, but that outfit would become her new "best" church dress. I objected to some other issues, including ignoring "letdown".
My father was born & raised in Cripple Creek. That is what interested me in the series. Nice clean reading. Very refreshing to have wholesome historical entertainment to enjoy.
Careful what you say! What a way to start over, gossips at their heels. Mary and Nora have a second chance and an adventure, never a dull moment. Very enjoyable read.d
I rounds story off it want to end. The friends and neighbors were the kind I would love to have when I was younger. The story just flowed and I floated with it.
