4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet Christian American Historical Romance Donald is expecting his mail order bride, however she arrives with a surprise - her baby niece. Although she had told the agency about Winnie, this wasn't passed on to Donald. He finds it very difficult to trust anyone, so this immediately puts a strain on the potential relationship. He also relies on a strict routine, whilst this is impossible with a young child involved. The story shows how they gradually relax with each other, although he knows that Alanna is holding something back, which he finds extremely difficult to accept as he requires total honesty. Ultimately he has to decide whether to accept Alanna and Winnie or to send them away. Set with a strong background of faith this again shows how difficult it was for Mail Order Brides and their potential husbands to form relationships without the normal getting to know each other phase that we take so much for granted nowadays.
USA Today Best Selling Author of Contemporary Western Romance and Sweet Historical Western Romance.
Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
The book is the first in a new series, Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing. This is a clean, inspirational western with two Christian people, prayer, and Bible verses. Two people will be brought together, paired up by ‘matchmakers,’ and yet, this story is full of angst, mystery, suspense, secrets, and trouble.
Alanna needs a new start, but this time, she has her infant niece, Winnie, to consider. Hard work, doing without, making others happy has been what Alanna has known most of her life. Caring for Winnie brings her comfort and joy.
Donald Dill is a man who likes order and expects things to fall into place as he schedules. He needs a wife and is shocked when he meets his mail-ordered bride, Alanna. His neat world and written schedules are getting ready to be turned upside down—and that doesn’t work well for him. Life on his inherited horse ranch in Wyoming has come with claim-jumpers, swindlers, wolves, and mail-order brides with secrets. Now, it looks like another one has arrived.
The plot of this story is full of secrets—and Donald is a man who wants everything black and white with no gray areas. Alanna Foley arrives with an infant in tow—and he is upset. In a letter from the matchmakers, there was no mention of a baby—her being a widow—or is she lying about being a Christian woman? No, this will never do. While he must allow her and the child to stay until further arrangements can be made, he doesn’t have to like it. Then when he shows Alanna his list of how he expects everything to be done, she informs him she is happy to do things, but they may not be done in his exact order. Donald Dill’s life is going to change—whether he wants it to or not.
This story is full of angst, upsets, doubts, indecisions, mistrust, and throw-in questions about the baby, her father, and troublemakers. Not everyone is honest and upfront with information. With Donald’s dealings with people trying to take what isn’t theirs, is he now facing another woman trying to deceive him? Secrets will lead to problems—but the truth could even be more harmful. Will Donald and Alanna find happiness? Winnie seems to be the angst and pleasure between these two—will nearly losing her open their eyes?
After the death of her sister in child birth, Alanna felt like she had no choice but to take her infant niece, Winnie and become a mail-order-bride heading west to Pine Crossing, Wyoming. She was to marry Donald Dill, but he was not the most trusting of men as he had been taken advantage of a few times. She was not his first mail-order-bride either with previous ones being gold diggers or having some other problem. There had been land swindlers to run off. So when Alanna showed up with a baby in tow that he had not been informed about, he was on high alert. He was not believing much of what she was telling him, but it sure was hard for him not to fall under Winnie's spell. He had once worked on a ranch with lots of babies, so he knew how to calm them. Him and Winnie were soon quick friends. He and Alanna were falling for each other, but he knew she was hiding something from him. As long as he could not trust her he could not marry her. He was looking for someone that was perfect. He could not see that Alanna never complained about anything, never asked for anything for herself, and worked extremely hard all the time. This was somewhat of an emotional read at times with people showing strong biased opinions, because they chose to hear what they wanted to hear or believe. You will not be able to put this book down until you finish.

☄️☄️ONE SENSATIONAL JOURNEY ☄️☄️ Vicious vipers vi! Kathleen serves up one incredibly tumultuous, heartbreakingly beguiling, skillfully enthralling, fascinatingly tantalizing, sinfully delightful, rock-my-world tempest, jumping hoops and clearing hurdles, bringing the heat and kicking down walls, propelling this baby to staggering heights. Shenanigans and mishaps run rampant, exhibiting pelted perimeters and crumbling boundaries converge as limitations are amplified and tested, cognizant of riveting drama, gripping intrigue, calculated deception, electrifying suspense and intense situations ensue as the dramatic twists and stunning turns unfold, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. The author has written a sweet and heartwarming story full of lots of human emotions, some not so pretty. This is Alanna Foley and Donald Dill's story and the character development is excellent. Neither Alanna nor Donald have necessarily had an easy life, which is reflected in the way they look at things. Donald sends for a MOB with specific demands but when Alanna arrives she is not at all what he had requested plus she had an undisclosed baby which she claimed was her sister's who had died. Donald believed Alanna was lying. As the couple work through all of the doubt, mistrust and trouble that dogs them will Donald find out Alanna was in fact telling the truth? Will the couple be able to develop a loving relationship which will grow into a HEA? Be sure to read this wonderful story to find out. I know you will enjoy this story as much as I did.
This is an interesting mail order brides tale written by Kathleen Ball. She has done an amazing job with the plot and the characters. Donald is a rancher just outside of Pine Crossing and he felt the need for a wife, so he applies to a Mail by order agency. Alanna has lost her parents and now her sister in childbirth. The only thing she has s the beautiful newborn baby niece. She answers Donald’s advertisement and she and Winnie make the long tiring trip to be his wife. Donald is not pleased when he sees her with the newborn infant. Donald is not sure he believes her tale that the child is her niece and wonders what other lies she might be keeping from him. You will enjoy discovering how they over come all the trials and tribulations they go through before they find their happily ever after.
I enjoyed this historical western romance story with all of the characters. The two main characters were Alanna Foley and Donald Dill.
Alanna Foley has struggled throughout her life. After the death of her sister and mother. She takes her niece with her when she travels to Wyoming so she can be a mail order bride. She didn't expect that her future husband would have trust issues.
Donald Dill is a rancher that has trust issues because of something that happened to his first mail order bride. He still want a mail order bride but he not sure that he will trust the next one.
This was a fun story to read. It has action, adventure and drama within. It also had a few funny parts that had me giggling or laughing to.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
This is the start of a new series spun off from the Kavanaughs. Donald Dill worked for them and when he i heritage some land in Wyoming he took off to start his own horse ranch. Women are scarce so he sent 9ff for a mail order bride. Alanna escaped to Wyoming with her niece to become a mail order bride. Upon arrival her potential mate was taken aback that she had a baby with her and thought that he had been tricked. It is battle of the qills, qill Alanna finally come clean about the father? Will Donald ever be able to trust her? Will Willow bring them together? This is a clean, faith based western romance with a HEA. Waiting for the next book in the series.

Alanna's sister died in childbirth and Alana took responsibility for th care of baby Winnie. It is hard to raise a child alone so Alanna answered a mail order bride advertisement and took the long ride to a ranch out west to marry a rancher. She had trouble pleasing him at first. He did not know about the baby until they arrived and was upset that she brought some other man's child to his ranch. He also wanted everything done on a precise schedule and that military precision rarely happens with baby. They were both frustrated to say the least.
Read this book to learn about their many disagreements and the few things they agreed on. Will they ever agree on anything? I enjoyed this book immensely.
Alanna has always been a provider and care taker so when she loses her mother and then her sister to childbirth she takes on her neice and becomes a mail order bride to the west. Donald Dill is expecting a bride but when she arrives and is toting a little one with her he immediately fails to trust her. Not sure that this will work out he allows her to stay on the ranch and live in her own room until the preacher comes through to either marry them or send her with the preacher to find a better arrangement. Donald doesn't count on love but when tragedy strikes and he must step up to take care of the baby as well as Alanna things shift. With a little faith, hope, love and trust anything is possible.
Donald Dill is a man of structure, strength and principles. Alanna came to him ,after several attemps to find the right mail order bride. She might have tugged at his heart but the child she brought made him question everything . He had been betrayed before and was wary. Winnie was her niece but so many other worrys and secrets prevent her from telling the whole story. Conflict, land stealing visitors, and a strict and questionable preacher make both Donald and Alanna realize their true feeling.

New Mail-Order Bride Series! Alanna is looking for a fresh start with her infant niece but the matchmakers that send her as a mail-order bride don’t quite have their act together. When Donald goes to meet his new bride he has not been told about the baby and of course wonders about its parentage. He is very organized and methodical (regimental) and this just doesn’t fit in with his plan. Will he learn to trust and love Alanna and the baby? Has Alanna found her forever home? Both of them do a lot of praying and soul searching to make their final decision. Once again, Kathleen Ball delivers a sweet, inspirational romance that you will love!
I enjoyed this book. It is the story of two people who overcome their past and learn to trust. When Allana arrives as a mail order bride she has a baby with her that the match makers failed to mention and Donald feels betrayed and decides to send her away. As they get to know each other while waiting for someone to come and get her, he falls in love with the baby and develops feelings for Allana. He still has a hard time believing he can trust her and must decide if it is worth taking a chance and trusting God.

Alanna arrives at Pine Crossing with her niece, Winnie, to meet Donald, her prospective husband, she's a mail order bride, but the matchmakers hadn't told him about Winnie and he thinks that she's her daughter and that Alanna isn't a good Christian. Alanna tries to explain but Donald has been in a bad situation previously so he's not taking any chances with his heart. Alanna falls in love with Donald but he's still holding back, he puts off the parson marrying them.
Alanna and Donald Dill For a simple mail-order bride tale this had plenty of twists in it. It started right off with Stephanie and Aggie and continued and these were not just bumps in the road either. I liked the characters but Alanna was special. All her life she had taken the back seat making sure her mother and sister had everything first. Then when things start to look up events occur that tear the hope of happiness down. I enjoyed reading this story and I would recommend it to those who enjoy a good western tale. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Four stars, A storyline that needs trust to grow. Alanna an auntie with her niece going out West to become a mail order bride. But Donald who had bad luck with other brides, didn't trust or believe in her story. He thought the baby was hers. He was a strict man going my schedules and rules. She had a secret that she finally revealed, but it didn't help any. Donald order another bride, it took time for him to realize it was not always about him. Good ending.
I enjoyed reading this book, although it did take a crazy turn towards the end. I gave this book four stars because I found Donald’s continued judgement of Alanna a bit much when she was clearly a good woman with a lot of love to give. I still enjoyed reading this story. it is great to be able to read a book whose characters believe in God and are trying to follow His plan for their lives.
The first book in the Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing a well written story of a man that can not trust and a woman trying to do the right thing. Alanna Healy, her niece Winnie, and Donald Dill who is a strict and structured man's story. There is drama, twists, turns, villains, a not nice reverend, trust in God and finally seeing what is right in front of his face. I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Alanna shows up in Pine Crossing as the mail order bride for Donald along with her orphaned niece Winnie. Donald thinks she is trying to take advantage of him so he decides to send her back because he never found out about her Winnie until she steps off the stagecoach. He also knows she is hiding something but when he finds out he sees Alanna in a different way. Will Donald and Alanna be able to work out a relationship with each other?
After reading this book I had to take a sometime to myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review. Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started, I could not put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you do not know what is happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens got to read the Book. You will not be disappointed I was not.
Donald worked for the Kavanaughs until he inherited land in Wyoming. When he headed to the land he decides to send off for a mail order bride. Alanna arrives as the mail order bride for Donald but she brought along her niece and Donald wasn't happy thinking he was tricked and the baby was hers. This is a sweet, clean mail order bride romance between two characters who deserved their happily ever after. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Alana had her baby niece and fled to be a mail order bride. Donald had been taken advantage of and it was hard for him to trust. When Alana showed up with a baby he felt betrayed. Then he knew she was still holding something back. The romance between Alana and Donald was sweet and emotional and filled with danger while their pasts and insecurities wanted to keep them apart, faith was stronger. Good read.

Mail order brides truly had to be desperate to head out to meet an unknown man and to arrive in the town of Pine Crossing, proud home of three tents. There was a total breakdown of communication between Donald Dill and his mail order bride, Alanna. Mistrust and secrets keep both parties from truly talking to the other. Kathleen Ball has given us a tale that will have you wanting to pick both of them up and shaking them. Very enjoyable.
Alanna is traveling West to be a mail order bride, but she is not alone. She has her sister's baby, Winnie and a secret. When she meets Donald, he is not aware that there is a baby. He feels betrayed and is not a happy man. What will happen now. Donald thinks Alanna is lying to him. How can he trust her? Alanna is hurt and the only thing she is sure of is her love for Winnie. I was given a copy of this book by the author for a honest review.
I could relate easily to Alanna's character. She was hardworking and so eager to please. Unfortunately, it seemed like the harder she tried, the more difficult things became between her and Donald (the guy she was the mailorder bride for). Stubbornness and pride seemed to be a real issue with these two. Will the two work out their issues and be married, or will Alanna have to find another man to marry?
5his was a very nice read about Alanna and Donald. Alanna come as a mail order bride with her sisters baby, and a secret. Donald is the owner of a large horse ranch. He believes that Alanna is living a lie. This is very well written read. Truly enjoyed it. This is a reread book for me.
This was an unusual story which I did enjoy very much. Alanna had applied to be a mail order bride. She finally arrived and Donald her intended was surprised when she arrived with a baby. He didn’t want to take her to his ranch, but Alina told him, she made it clear about the baby to the match maker. This story has several struggles and you will enjoy the end result.
I almost didn’t finish this book. Donald was such a jerk for about 95% of the story. Because Alanna didn’t tell him every single detail of her life? He only told her a tidbit or two of his. He was simply ridiculous. It’s not often I don’t like the male in these bride stories, but Donald was very near the worst. And that “Reverend”…GOOD GRIEF!
A great story and looking forward to more in this series. A mail order bride story with a unique twist makes for a great read. This book was given to me and I was glad to read it. All opinions are my own.
