Kellie Coates Gilbert once again brings us a heartwarming story about a loving family and how they support each other. Along with the family business of a pineapple plantation in Hawaii, each member has something significant going on in their life. All the characters are likable, even the questionable ones. The descriptions of the locale is amazing, and you feel like you’re right there with the characters. Don’t miss this series!

Lots of drama swirling in this family. In particular, I enjoyed the details about growing pineapples and preparing them for market/consumption.

Always nice to visit the pineapple planation and the Briscoe family. The family is still navigating a world without their matriarch, for one is harder than the others, Family is there for each other through love, loss and an unexpected injury. Overall reading this story you feel you're a part of it, the beautiful background is awe inspiring a place you want to visit.

Family is very important!

I loved, again, how the author has such a talent to describe locations, characters, and actions so well the readers "feels" like they are on the islands participating in every activity. I can hardly wait for book 3!

Book 2 continues the story of Ava and her family. Life moves forward at the Pali Maui plantation. Vivid descriptions allow the reader to imagine scenes in beautiful Hawaii. Ava’s son Aidan, is seriously injured in a rescue operation. He has to move home with Ava to recuperate. Christel meets a handsome doctor and begins to consider moving forward after her divorce. Katie and her husband are forced to move to the plantation after a fire.

Several other family surprises are in store after a mysterious family member returns to the island, and someone from Shane’s past returns.

Family, love, and support continue to be themes in the book. Looking forward to book three and reading more about the Briscoe family.

This second book in Kellie Coates Gilbert’s Maui Island series continues the story of the Briscoe family, who I just love. Ms Gilbert has added a couple of new characters while we learn more about the ones we met in the first book. The family goes through quite a few twists and turns. I love seeing how they navigate each one. From the first page I felt like I had been whisked right back to Maui.
This book and, indeed, the series is well with reading.

The Briscoe family sage continues. As the family is dealing with the death of LIncoln, husband and father, the children begin to pick up the pieces and move on after learning of his betrayal. After a terrible accident of one child, a house fire of another child, they decide to move to Maui Plantation to heal and for new beginnings while another child finds new love.
As they are moving on a family member returns to the island.
Love and family are at the core of this wonderful series. I look forward to the next book in this series.

"Some kinds of pain you can't escape. You simply must move through the pain and come out the other side, somehow recapturing your joy." - page 39

"In a wonderful place like the island of Maui, you always knew what to expect, and if you looked closely, you might see your future as clearly as your past. They all had a lot to look forward to. No doubt, the days ahead were filled with promise and wonderful possibilities." - page 160

The Briscoe Family is recovering after losing their patriarch in a terrible car accident. Ava pours herself into running Pali Maui and caring for her kids, but a blast from her past comes flying in!! Meanwhile, Christel is still coping with her divorce and trying to care for her brother after an accident of his own. Katie and Jon have their own tragedy to deal with, and Shane gets a surprise that will change his life!! Book 2 in the Maui series had me turning pages at a rapid pace…starting Book 3 NOW!!!

Members of the Briscoe family stand tall and face new challenges head-on in this second book of the Maui Island Series. Life throws some really big surprises at them that I did not see coming and as a reader I wondered how they would get through it all. However, this book shows us a strong and loving family that supports each other through each crisis.

Kellie Coates Gilbert brings the reader a story that creates a myriad of moods as you turn the pages. It is impossible not to experience both the highs and lows this family must deal with as members deal with the situations in front of them. Her characters come to life on the page and the family dynamics are very real. Also, while this is not a romance, there is a hint that love is in the air.

I plan to continue reading this series and would encourage other readers who enjoy family sagas to pick up a copy for themselves.

The woes of a loving mother

I do admire Ava, who loves her children unconditionally, but honestly don't care for Katie, as I see her as manipulative. In fact, Ava seems to be too often forced to take on the responsibility of others' failings. I did enjoy this book very much and am looking forward to following the Briscoes onward.

Book 2 of this Maui Island series was a great addition and I loved getting to know the Briscoe family better. Silver Island moon took the family through a scary time as Aiden is hurt in a rescue attempt. Christel meets someone new and Katie and her family experience a loss. I met some new characters and there were some surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
