Hi!

I write epic fantasy novels, which began with a series of four books, These were, The Three Powers, which began with The Snowmelt River, and continued with The Tower of Bones, The Sword of Feimhin and ended with The Return of the Arinn.

I was lucky enough for my books to have gathered excellent reviews from various sources including the British Fantasy Society and Starburst Magazine, which helped to push them into the top ten bestseller list of epic fantasy novels on amazon.

More recently I began a new epic fantasy trilogy, which began with epic advantures of Eefa and Magio, who are The Twins of Moon, which got great reviews. It was followed by The Sea of Stars, which will soon be competed with publication of the third and final book, the title of which will be released soon, and which figures dragons in a major and very exciting way. All of these are published in kindle and in paperback.

You can find out more at www.frankpryan.com.

It was wonderful for the Twins of Moon Trilogy to be reviewed on Amazon and available for sales through swiftpublishers. It was wonderful to have it reviewed on Amazon as Tolkein for a younger reader. Though the twins do mature to adult by the end of the series.

Great to have another fabulous wraparound cover by the renowned fantasy artist Mark Salwowski! More at my dedicated websites
www.frankpryan.com and www.swiftpublishers.com.

The final book in the trilogy is likely to be available by late 2023 or early 2024. I'll be sure to keep folks who are interested informed as to when it is coming out.

Do write to me if you want to know anything of what is happening.

Cheers!

Frank

(I received this book for free as part of Goodreads First Reads giveaways).

(This review may contain spoilers).

I have some mixed feelings about this book. If I'm honest, it was a bit difficult to read at times. At times, the writing came across as almost surreal... dreamlike, in a way.

The whole murder mystery itself was interesting, but by the end, I was left with more questions than answers. The case wasn't wrapped up in a very satisfactory way - at least in my opinion.

The tiger aspect, I felt, worked particularly well. In a way, it did make sense - though I'm not sure how Sandy put it together.

Although I did keep getting confused with some of the characters, most of them were fairly well-rounded and interested. I liked the hints of Sandy's relationship with his children and I would have liked to see more of them.

When it came to the murder scenes, I thought that the author did a really good job of describing the details and emotions of the characters involved. I could see a lot of the events happening in my mind and was quickly able to empathise with the character(s)'s fear.

I did feel that the book changed POV characters a few too many times. There was one scene in particular where it was Sandy's POV in one setting and then Huw's POV in another, different setting and then back to Sandy again - without any line breaks or anything, which was really confusing.

Apart from the surreal, dreamlike parts, I did find the book to be quite well-written. There were a few errors, but nothing really major. I can't say for sure if I'd read any more books by this author - it would depend on what it was about.

Thanks to Goodreads for your giveaway program; in Canada, Ryan's work is not highly profiled.

This is my first exposure to Frank P. Ryan's protagonist, Detective Inspector Sandy Woodings. Tiger Tiger was first published in 1988, and there are now several Sandy Woodings mysteries in the series.

I'm the Ellery Queen kind of mystery buff. I want to be able to match wits with the protagonist and his crew. In Tiger Tiger, I did not solve the case but, looking back, I SHOULD have been able to. The clues were there, I think, but so subtlely introduced that I'm out of practice for this level. Give me more; I don't think I see this kind of refined sensitivity in many of today's mysteries.

Ryan delivers all of features you look for in a satisfying detective mystery: Competent and sympathetic protagonist, crew members of varying competency and dedication, insights into the dysfunction of the policing system, plus a plot that is interesting, tense, and complicated, with twists and turns along the way.

No plot synopsis in this review; it's well set up, and very well handled throughout the book (another challenge for many mystery authors, in my view).

My 3-member family reads about 100 mysteries a year, and, for Tiger Tiger, we're looking at 4.5 out of 5.

5 is actually being there, by the way.

When I first started reading this book I was expecting something based in the Orient but I was pleasantly surprised that it was based in the United Kingdom
I was unable to work out who had committed the murders and really enjoyed the

I was close to figuring out whodunit, but not close enough. Overall it was a good read and I certainly wouldn't be against reading more of the Sandy Wooding series.

I received this book through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
