Just by reading the first book, I know this trilogy is going to be a must read fantasy trilogy. There is so much action in this first book, I feel like it can only get better and more intense. This trilogy is aimed at older teens/adult readers so it is perfect for people who like YA but with a little bit of added maturity. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect of this book, from reading the blurb, I knew we were going to see some sort of romance between Coralee and Ryder. They seem to bounce off each other and despite being brought up to fight against each other, they have the same end goal. I enjoyed reading about how the pair develop throughout the book, both individually and as a couple.

We got to read about other characters in this book, for example, Coralee and Ryders closest friends. I am excited to read about more of those and some other characters as well. I thought some of the characters mentioned would be entertaining people to read about, for example, Morgan. Coralee and Ryders friends are essential in fighting the fae so I am excited to learn more about them both in the next book!

I loved the world in this book, it was very interesting and imagining the world Coralee is from seems so beautiful. The concept of the elemental stones is that the guardians who live there can control that element, so Coralee can control water. The stones are what the fae are after so they can be most powerful, however, they want all the other stones as well. In the next book, I hope we are able to read about the other elemental places and I am excited to learn more about the powers the other guardians have. We got to see a little bit about the other elements from the evil fae/guardians, but I can't wait to hear more.

This book has the element of mystery in and I can see how that will carry over to the next book. There are so many unanswered questions from this book so I am eager to read the other books to get answers. I found the authors writing style easy to understand and I found I read the book quite quickly. I was so eager to find out what happens in the end! I would 100% recommend this book to all fantasy lovers because it has all of the best fantasy elements in the book.

NO SPOILERS REVIEW

I had the amazing opportunity to read this book and it was absolutely incredible.

I have always read romance books only.

This book is definitely outside of what I normally read and my goodness, after reading this book, I now want to expand my genre of books.

This book incorporates so much but the flow and plot is incredible.

You have Coralee, a fae, and Ryder, a tracker. You see how they meet. How they unite forces to track who killed someone important to Coralee and of course, you will see how their relationship will progress.

This book has the romance and the mystery.
It captivates you where you do not want to put it down. You want to know what is next.

You fall in love with characters and then you have characters that will surprise you.

Your questions will be answered BUT you WILL WANT MORE!

Thank goodness there’s a second and third book!

This book had interesting concepts about Fae and how their world worked. I liked the concept of having elementals who were in charge of regulating and protecting their assigned element. The author did a great job in explaining their purpose and why they didn't associate themselves with the Fae.

I did not like how the sections were segmented from Coralee and Ryder. It would switch from one perspective to the other and would be confusing at times.

I cannot truly express how much I loved this book. It checked all my boxes; enemies to lovers, spicy, mystery/action, betrayal, and an ending that answered my questions but still left me wanting more. I am anxiously awaiting the next in this series. The writing style of this author, coupled with the plot, made for an exciting read that flowed so well together that you were completely emerged into the story. I struggled to put it down, just to complete basic tasks for my family today! I feel attached to the characters, Lee and Ryder, and cannot wait to read more of their story!

The publication of Drowning is going to bring a new must-read fantasy author into the world, I'm sure of it. Mark your calendars for June 16th - the date when you can officially get your hands on this book!

Calm, disciplined Coralee decides to team up with Ryder - her natural enemy - to track down the person who murdered her sister. Along the way, she discovers another side to herself... and a mystery that must be solved before the world is thrown into chaos.
"Oh, I don't know. You have murder, betrayal, danger, mystery. Why not throw a little sex in the mix?"
I think we will all be able to agree that Devany perfectly summarises the major themes. This book contains everything I have ever wanted in a fantasy novel, and did I mention that it takes a mature approach to fae? The result is a truly captivating story.

Plus, the narrative is equally divided between Coralee and Ryder. This is something I’m not used to, but I loved it. It provided a deeper understanding of their actions, and there was no repetitiveness. I often don't like how first-person narratives are written, but this was perfect.

I'm actually honoured that I had the opportunity to read an ARC of Drowning in exchange for an honest review. I really felt like I was privy to the next bestseller. This series needs to attract lots of attention, it deserves it. It's so good - and about to be added to my favourites shelf.

Eagerly awaiting book 2 ❤️

Title: Drowning
Series: The Elementals Trilogy

Prior to jumping into the review, I would like to thank the author for sharing this book with me free of charge and it is my utmost pleasure and privilege to leave this review.

Drowning is the first book in The Elementals Trilogy, a fantasy series, by debut author Jennifer Forist. I'm unsure of the age range of the target audience for this book (young adult vs new adult vs adult). In midlife, it is highly unlikely I am the best judge for a YA audience but here goes. The writing was a little simplistic for my taste and there weren't enough action scenes to keep me invested in the story; although the action does pick up significantly after Chapter 14. While I anticipated the person(s) responsible for all the evil and murders, I definitely did not consider the twist to the climax. If you like medium-paced books with a light sprinkling of humour, this is for you.

Drowning has dual point of view with the heroine Coralee, an elemental-Fae, and hero Ryder, a Fae-tracker hunter. Coralee leaves the elemental kingdom Talantic to search for her sister who went missing in the human world. She is worried as there have been several recent elemental deaths and it's unlike her sister not to contact her. Tragically, she finds her sister murdered lying in the arms of her secret Fae-tracker boyfriend, and is caught at the murder scene by the suspicious Ryder. Setting up the obligatory enemies to lovers' romance that is central to the story along with investigating the murders which will transform Coralee resulting in the loss of her powers.

The main plot revolves around elemental stones and protecting their great power to maintain the natural order of the human world. Of course, there have to be villains dubbed the evil Fae who are trying to wrestle that power for themselves. It is all upon Coralee and Ryder to save the world and preserve the great power.

Overall, it was an easy light read and it would be interesting to see what twists the author has planned for the next Elemental/Tracker couple in her second book.

Drowning is Jennifer Forist’s debut novel and the first book in The Elemental’s Trilogy. This is an adult fantasy romance and while fantasy is not my go-to genre, I really enjoyed this book. Coralee is a water elemental, a type of fae, she draws her powers from the water stone which also has the power to control the earth’s water. Ryder is a tracker whose job it is to track down dangerous fae and eliminate them. Coralee and Ryder are natural enemies, but when Coralee’s sister and Ryder’s best friend are murdered they team up to find the killer. Their journey to finding the killer is lengthy and along the way they discover who they can trust and love.

This book had an intriguing concept and fictional world. I loved the enemies to lovers, betrayal, mystery, romance, attraction, chemistry, and action in this book. The author has beautifully described this fictional world, the characters, their personalities, and their abilities. In a world filled with magic and mystery we meet two individuals who are so loyal to their beliefs and their family that there was no way these two would change their beliefs, but the way the author has described the change in Coralee and Ryder in this book is amazing.

I loved the romance that developed between Coralee, and Ryder and the possible romance between the supporting characters. This book solves the mystery behind the killer, but there is an underlying plot that is yet to be unraveled. I can’t wait for the next book because this one left me satisfied, but wanting more of this world and the characters.

A really fun read! It took me a little bit to get into the story. I think because the view kept switching from Ryder to Coralee it took me extra time to connect to the characters and the story. I was about 30% into the book when I knew I would enjoy it. After the brief pause in the beginning, I really started to like the characters. Coralee reminds me of myself. I’m usually the responsible one like her. It was great to see her evolve into something else and gives me hope for myself (lol). Ryder was a great love interest. I definitely enjoyed his character and I loved both Dev and Lincoln too. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Drowning is a very satisfying read. The world-building is rich and complex, unique and very believable. Coralee’s growth during the story fills your heart with warmth and pride. The start is a little slower, but it serves to firmly establish her personality and relationships before the action starts rolling. A little bit of a cliff-hanger at the end which leaves me itching to read the next in the series - Buried.

A Great start to a new series

This is my first time reading a book written by the author and I wasn’t disappointed. She develops her characters well throughout the book so that you have a better understanding of who they are as a person and what their beliefs are.
She is very descriptive when describing the background to make you feel as if you were actually watching it on the movie instead of reading a book. It does have a romance flair to it but it is not erotic which I actually enjoyed. It does have a say play super natural theme to it and it’s more of a whodunit /detective theme.

When Coralee’s sister went missing, she had to go on land to search for her. Finding her sister also led her to the Hunter, Ryder. Hunters found and killed all fae and even though Coralee was a water elemental, she had fae in her. Coralee was led on a journey with Ryder that was filled with danger, excitement, lies, betrayal and many deaths that entwined the two together. Fun read with a definite need to read more.

I am completely newbie to this author but the blurb and cover sucked me in and I am so glad I gave it a chance.

A completely unique storyline with in-depth character development and world building. Multiple POV’s. A slow building forbidden romance. This has a little bit of everything I really enjoy Elementals, Fae, Trackers, I love the twist this author did on these, I freaking loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!

A very easy book to get hooked in and to read! I love fantasy books with water magic.

We follow Coralee in this book. She finds out that her sister Avalyn has been killed by a fae (enemie) . She finds her sister dead with a tracker. And trackers are another enemie.

When she is about to take her sister home another trackers comes and tries to kill Coralee because of the other trackers dead body at the scene. She gets away with her sister and gets home with her. After that, it starts. Who killed her sister?

The tracker - Ryder - that found Coralee with the other tracker and her dead sister - start to work togheter with Coralee to find who killed their friend/familymember.

They finds out a lot that turns their world upside down. (mostly for Coralee but also for Ryder).

This is a Great first novel to a series. Hooked me from the start and left me wanting more at the end. If you want some steamy scenes, they are in here. The fantasy world created for the Fae is a whole new twist I'd not come across before and intriguing. That said, I'm glad most of the activity was in the real world where I can easier imagine things. The passion between Corralee and Ryder has a slow burn with intermittent sizzle. Their relationship has a great setup and leaves you wanting to see what happens with them in the next novel. The author also opens the door to other characters in the novel growing their roles and I look forward to seeing where they go. This is a novel worth recommending to your friends. I've now found yet another independent writer I look forward to following and reading more of.

This was a great and fun read. The author created a wonderful and complex story that sucked me in. Even though it takes place in modern day Myrtle Beach, I felt transported to a new land with all the magic. I loved the backstory and history of the elementals, which was done in a unique and interesting way. Even the characters were different and fun to read. Coralee struck me as a strong, relatable female main character, which I love! Overall, this is a must read!

You know that point? The one where you can't put it down? Yeah. I found that about halfway down when I opened the "Look Inside".
So, stupid sleep. I started it two days ago, and finished it last night. Well, I would have finished it sooner, but like I said, stupid sleep.
I'm a big fan of fae. I love fantasy and fantasy romance just puts it over the top. It was exciting. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. So much so, that at 1:25 a.m., when I tried to go to sleep, I gave up and picked up the book. Sleep's overrated, anyway. Right?
The emotions invoked by this book were intense. I love a book that makes me cry. It did that from the beginning. Yeah. Crying now. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Just an FYI. When I saw the book, I was in the middle of another book written by well known romance author (One of my favorites). I'll probably finish this series before I go back to that book.
This is one of those books that make me wonder how more people haven't found it. It should be that for you, too!
