The Prophecy of the Water Sprite

Rate this book
Our kind has been enslaved by the Fae for as long as this kingdom remembers. They need us to keep water in their kingdom flowing, without it, their kind would surely all perish; as not even the powerful Fae have control over the waters that feed life to everything.
Somewhere along the line, they all lost that ability as if that element revolted against them.
For over twenty-one years I’ve been kept in the dark about my true heritage, being raised as a witch like my auntie, that can wield water with spells.
Soon I would be old enough to leave my childhood home and go beyond the protection spell that has kept me safe all these years, to seek out my destiny.
A vision, perhaps even a prophecy, in the castle where I was born caused my parents to secret me away under the cover of darkness. Saved by an unlikely partnership.
For the first time in thousands of years, the elements are set to combine into the greatest power ever known, and somehow I am the center of it all.
The power of the elements are told to bring about peace in the lands and restore life in the realm; to a greatness more than it has ever been before.
No more struggles for food, no more starvation. No more taxation with penalties of death. No more hatred and fear of the rulers of the kingdom. Only prosperity, health, and maybe even something more?

K. Rose has been a part of the Indie Author Community for years. Getting her start as a reader, her keen eye led to a wonderful career in Alpha/Beta and ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reading. As a joke to her fellow advanced reader colleagues, she created a spoofed blurb and cover for a story and the feedback was so positive that it sparked her to run with it.
That stoked a fire that has her racing down a multi-genre freeway with no off-ramp in sight. K. doesn’t write to “market” and she is fairly certain that her humor and use of puns may cause an eye roll or two. This still wouldn’t stop her from making sure there is humor in every one of her stories. As a Multi Genre Author, there is sure to be something for everyone to love.
She has traveled the USA extensively, including Alaska, and lived in thirty-eight of the fifty states. Home is now the beautiful state of Wisconsin, where she dreams up her stories in the company of her menagerie of furbabies, including five puppies, five rescue kitties, a bunch of chickens, ducks and turkeys ruled by a Rooster named Chicken Parm, and a ninety-gallon tropical fish tank.

A great standalone RH romance book. Skyy is naive at the beginning having been kept away from outside influences to keep her safe but as the book progresses she grows as a character I think especially with the introduction of the guys - Vale, Elio and Enlil. It's a gentle read with brilliant characters. It's a pretty good read that has a little bit of it all. Action, plot twists and some steam too

A wonderful story with a great balance of world building, plot, emotion and spice. I got Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White vibes without actually being any of those stories. I absolutely loved the story being told through multiple POV, being able to feel the emotions building from each persons perspective. Skyy is a determined hero and I loved seeing her with her fated mates.

If you want a nice standalone RH fantasy with simple and straightforward story where you don't need to think too much, this is a good choice. It was a slow burn romance following Skyy from being born and hidden until fulfilling the prophecy and defeating the evil. It has the feel of classic fairytale, with HEA and all, only with the added harem element. The story was a bit slow and dragging for me, without much action, and when some excitement happened it was cut too short. I personally would love more of the dragon in the book, although it had a very specific role, yet its presence came rather late in the book and I as a reader did not have enough time to enjoy it. I'd also like more character/ personality development but in general it was fine. 3,5 stars for me.

This book starts off with some back story of how things came to be, which helps so much in understanding what's happening to the characters.
Skyy is the last water sprite even though she doesn't know this at first. When the day comes her Auntie ( a witch who took care of her from birth) sets the start of the prophecy in motion.
We get to meet and read from the pov of her three mates too, Vale, Elio and Enlil.
The story is fast paced with being a standalone book which keeps you stuck into the journey right until the great ending. I really enjoyed reading this

This is a great read! A fantastic standalone RH romance is about a water sprite raised to believe she is a witch. The world building is incredible and I easily fell into this world as we follow sky on her adventure to find out the truth and what a ride it is. Action, adventure, romance and wowzers steam that is off the charts, it’s an exciting read with some amazing characters and I couldn’t put it down!

Sweet, original faerie tale

I've read a lot of faerie tale retellings over the last few years, but this is the first book I've read that appears to be a unique faerie tale in its own right.

It does feel a little slow to begin with, but you come to realise that everything that happened was necessary to get them to where they needed to be.

And of course, as a faerie tale, they all lived happily ever after!

I have yet to read a book about a water sprite but this is incredible! Our heroine believes she is a witch, so she is in for the shock of her life when she finds out she’s something more! The romance was on point and her men were all super easy to connect to! A great first book for a baby author, plus who doesn’t love a RH?! I highly recommend if you don’t want to get into a new series.

I was given an ARC, so I am writing my honest voluntary review.

This story is brilliant it is a stand-alone so it does start slightly slow but in doing so it builds the back story so you don't find yourself lost along the way.
I loved this story it had the perfect Fairy Tale feeling to it and the characters were written so beautifully.
The story its self was beyond gripping and had me hooked from the beginning and i could put it down till i had read it in one sitting.

This was a great debut book. The story flowed very well. I enjoyed learning about the world. I would love to have a sequel showing them having children.

This book follows a young woman, who thinks she is water witch. Her caretaker dies and she is set down her path. I don't want to say much more because it will give away too much.

Skyy and her men are fire 🔥 hot! I loved the prophecy coming to pass was my favorite! I wish Elio would have had more time instead of how quick it all went but all in all this was an amazing book.

Great debut!

The Prophecy of the Water Sprite is intriguing in its pacing and in the world created. In a land slowly being strangled without water and losing so much more, a prophecy is spoken. A savior is coming. The time of the water Sprite has come.

A sweet and fun read. Definitely worth the download with a sweet FMC and strong alpha males. Throw in a little drama and action it makes for a nice standalone.

It could've been better.

This book...was so agonizingly slow. I know it's supposed to be a slow burn and I was prepared for that. But the actual plot and pacing move at a glacial speed. I really liked the concept but I just don't think it was done justice. I couldn't get into any part of the story because every time the plot seemed to pick up, we switched to a completely different point of view.

Like sure this woman was about to die and kickstart this whole prophecy, but we can totally switch gears and read about these guys eating breakfast. That's cool.

Another contributor to the slowness was that everything was so over explained. Instead of just getting the story out and letting the reader experience the world/set up, it was mostly inner monologs of explanations and over analyzing situations.

The writing came across stilted and awkward. None of the characters really had a distinctive personality.

I'm sad because I was really looking forward to this book. And I really love the concept. But at 50% into the book I found myself just begging for something to happen. For the adventure to begin. For Skyy to at least leave on her journey. But no. Halfway through the book and she's still home packing. And we're still jumping around to these pointless POVs that do nothing to push the story forward. I'm all for multiple POVs, I love them. But not when it's just space filler.

I really wanted to like this book. Maybe the next one will get me.

When Skyy is born, a prophecy is triggered that puts her at the center as the only person capable of preventing mass destruction. Because all water sprite are held captive by the king and his mage, she is kept safe by a powerful witch who raises her to become a lovely young woman. When Skyy is 21, the time has come to fulfill the prophecy and look for her three fated mates.

This book is a RH standalone with multiple POV, and is a decent debut. I like the writing style of this author; words and sentences flow naturally and there are tiny humoristic moments woven into the story that put a smile on my face or made me snigger a little while reading. It's a style that I hope to see developping further in her next book(s). For me, the concept of fae, elves and water sprites used in this book was new, which is always a plus if you're an avid reader. The only downside was that I felt everything went a little too easy. The main characters faced different challenges, and they were definitely different enough to make for decent challenges, but it all felt a little too smooth for me. I would have liked to read about more setbacks and struggles, but those might have made the book too long, and there is something to say about the lack of cliffhangers and a monthlong wait the find out more...

So as a conclusion: this is a decent debut and with a promising writing style that I am looking forward to watch developping further in her next book(s). If you like standalones and high fantasy RH, this might be the book for you.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Prophecy of the Water Sprite is a standalone reverse harem fantasy romance novel that details the story of a young water sprite who is raised as a witch, but she knows about the prophecy that will change her life. All other water sprites were taken and stripped of their freedom years ago. When she was born she was immediately taken from her parents and raised away from the danger that threatens her. Now the time has come for her to find the elements that will help her bring back balance to the world and defeat the evil that threatens all.
The Prophecy of the Water Sprite is overall a really well-written story. I really liked the double prologue that the author gives readers with this book. You get it from multiple POV and that is really something unique about this story. Throughout the story, you get multiple POV from a variety of characters. I love how the author uses a little elemental graphic at the beginning of each chapter so you know exactly which character is the focus of that moment and don't have to guess.
My only issue really with this story is in the beginning. I wanted more of a development of the storyline to "present day." I wanted to read some Skyy's childhood as she learned about the prophecy, and the things to prepare her for what is to come. I think that it would have helped to really set the stage for the storyline and give it a solid foundation to build on.
All in all, I quickly devoured this book and I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future! For her first book, this book is really good. If you enjoy reverse harem fantasy novels then you'll want to check this one out. I'm rating it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This was a pretty great debut book for K Rose. I congratulate her on taking that final step and I wish her the best with her writing career!

To me, The Prophecy of the Water Sprite felt more like a journey, but a very easy going one. I think the situations that Skyy, Vale, Enlil, and Elio came across were taken care of pretty quickly and easily as well. I wish there would have been more of a hardship to keep us on our toes, but with this being a standalone I can understand how the author might not want to make the book too long. I could easily see this having been made into a duet or even a series of books if the problems were more problematic and took more time to resolve, but I can't say that I am unhappy with the book that K Rose gifted us with.

One thing that I loved about this book was the multiple points of view. Not only did we get to see the mental and emotional battles the characters were facing, but we also got to see the point of view of the villain! Sometimes these don't go as well as some authors hope, but I really enjoyed the backstory and the reasoning that we were given by having the villain broadcasting what was going on at his end while the rest of the story was happening.

Overall, I really enjoyed this standalone. I think K Rose has a bright future ahead of her and I can't wait to see what else she brings us.

It's a traditional good versus evil story. The evil is a mage with his puppet King, wanting more power and no apparent redeeming qualities whatsoever. The good comes in the form of a young woman, naive and sheltered, but powerful. No apparent bad qualities either. She is accompanied by 3 men. Luckily these 3 seem to have a more natural balance of characteristics- grey is we're keeping with the analogy. Though I like the prompt of the story, as well as the fact that it's a standalone (yes no cliffhanger!), I couldn't really get into the story. Taking the meeting between Vale and Skyy as an example: it's kinda creepy how he is all about I need to have her (having only seen her walk by and knowing absolutely nothing about who or what she is) and she has just suffered a great loss and is very sheltered yet doesn't have any alarm bells ringing that a man is suddenly in her home and has kissed her. She is all about 'I like it and I want more'. And I'm like wtf?

Having received this book for free as an ARC I would have loved to be able to say that is a great book, for me it's just a 'mheh'.

I really enjoyed this book and it was a great standalone RH. We follow Skyy, Vale, Elio and Enlil and we get to see where they are pulled to as well as learn a little bit about their past along the way. Skyy has lived her life believing that she was just a water witch but when a life changing event occurs, Skyy slowly learns the truth and has to go fulfill the prophecy.

There are dark forces at work and a mage that is trying his hardest to bring out destruction. There isn't too much to say without giving away the story but it hooked me in and I could not put it down. There is steamy scenes, some mystery that makes you question what has been going on and you get to see some characters begin to bond again after being forced apart. It was a good debut book and I cannot wait to see what else K. Rose will write!

Skyy has been kept hidden her entire life and raised by her Auntie to believe that she is a witch who can control water through spells. To fulfill her destiny, she must find her three elemental fated mates. But there are evil forces that are determined for her to fail in her destiny.

This is an awesome standalone fantasy read from debut Author K. Rose. I really enjoyed the storyline. I loved the action, the adventure, and of course the steam! The world building and character development are amazing! Skyy, Enlil, Elio, and Vale are fantastic characters, and I absolutely loved them all.

If you are a RH fantasy book lover, then check this book out! I look forward to reading more books from this Author!

This was a great debut book for the author. I really enjoyed the storyline, and take on the water sprites, as well as magic and the world building. I was able to picture everything like I was there, and it was all encompassing, and magical. In the very beginning it did seem like the author was trying too hard to insert big words where they didn’t flow as much as a simpler word would have. But that got a lot better through the rest of the book. It did seem to be missing something, but at the same time, I couldn’t tell you what. I would have definitely enjoyed another book or 2 for a series. All-in-all it was a touching book that shows love can conquer all.

Wow, this was an amazing read that hooked me from the very first page. It moves along at a pace which made for an easy read as it was not too fat nor too slow but perfect for the flow of the story. These characters seem so real that you feel as though you know them and no matter what happens you cant help but fall in love with them. This story will grab you keeping you interested until you reach the end and then you are wanting more. This book has to be on your TBR list, you will not be sorry that you did.

First off I enjoyed this book so much. It is a standalone RH romance and one I had on pre-order and I did receive it before it came out giving me time to read it before it came out. I loved the story of a sprite who is raised in believing she is a witch but she finds out the truth. What it means is so much! She must find her elemental mates to fins her HEA. Loved the twins and Vale. Yum. Very well written and a great story overall. I enjoyed the multiple pov and they were made extra clear by a graphic so you know who you were reading. I enjoyed that

A kingdom that is ruled in fear and darkness.
The enslavement of magical beings.
Two brothers torn apart.
One thing can save them all.

This book was delectable. The story itself is well written with plenty of twist and turns to keep you hooked. The characters are full of charisma and details bringing them to life. The spicy bits are 🥵. What an amazing debut book for K. ROSE.  I can not wait to see what she puts out next.

Great start!

Poor Raine taken from her birth parents who were promised that she would be cared for and she was needed to fulfill a prophecy. Pretty heavy considering she was just a baby. I loved that this ended with a HEA the only question I had was what happens if Vane's past comes a knocking.(spoilers) He was a wanted elf back home. Even with him being the new captain of the queens' guard his beloved Raine

Skyy leaves in the forest with her Auntie. She has known since she was little that she is part of a prophecy. This book has everything Witches, Mates, Fae, Water Sprites and Dragons. Skyy must find her mates and fulfill this prophecy. Can she do it? Will her mates accept her? This is a slow burn standing and the first I read from this author I am looking forward to see what else she comes up with in her future books.
